USB C Dust Plug/Cap/Cover - Nexus 5X Accessories

I've been surfing Amazon, Ebay, Port-Plugs and l-com for a USB Type C Dust Cover/Plug/Cap but have been unsuccessful in finding one. I feel like the charging port collects the most dust/lint and sometimes over time can impact charger connectivity. I was wondering if anyone has found a cover or plug solution for the USB C port when it's not in use. I feel these plugs have the ability to prolong the life of the port. Something flush mounted when inserted would be great. I found a few guys who modified Lightning Cable Female Plugs to fit but they were slightly loose when inserted. Any information or guidance is appreciated.

I have been looking as well. I think it may be a waiting game. I did see something on eBay meant for a laptop, but likely too bulky for a phone.

The unicorn beetle case by supcase has dust covers for the charger and headphone ports if you don't mind keeping your phone in a case.

I am hoping Znaps will really start shipping in January. The magnetic plug will act as a permanent plug and it will be a lot easier to attach the magnetic charging cable. And the plug looks narrow enough that it should work with a typical case.
Only downside is the cost of getting new adapters for all the charger cables. $12 each for microUSB cable adapters. I'd buy one type C adapter plug for the phone but buy the microUSB cable adapters and use them with the numerous cables I have currently.

Here is what found on eBay. I think a bit large of a flange for a phone, but I am judging from pics.

I actually got a free demo sample of USB Micro Plugs from David over at PortPlugs.com and modified them to fit. I can't say enough about how nice they were about working with me to see if they had any universal plugs that would work. They are a great company.
These are the ones I modified to fit.

David assured me that they are working with a 3D printing company to get a USB Type C mold ready. I will get getting some demos of the USB C Plugs soon. I'll keep everyone posted.

Best Nexus 7 MICRO TO USB MALE charger adapter.

I've tried a whole bunch (7) of adapters and none of them seem to charge the device. Not sure why?
Bottom line they need to work and be of decent quality - last 3-5 years.
I'm looking for a power adapter (Micro to USB Male) like the one below.
See image.

If I can get the Micro adapter part to have a downward 90 degree angle as seen below that would be incredible.
Casey
Anyone have any clue how to pull this off?
Thanks!
Bulky but how about:

I went to Fry's early on Friday to get a few items and picked up one of these while I was there:

Simple, cheap (well, $6 is cheap compared to some cable pricing I've seen), and it works flawlessly. Got it home, installed StickMount on the N7, plugged in a SanDisk Cruzer Fit micro-USB-Flash stick (about the size of a dime) and it sees the 16GB Cruzer Fit without issues, plugged in my Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, then a plain old USB keyboard, a few various USB sticks from various manufacturers and of various sizes, even a tiny microSD card USB adapter as well and it works without issues.
And yes, it allows charging as well. I have a "homemade" 5v 2A charger cable I made using an extra 5V 2A charger I had for some other device long ago and kept the charger, guess that worked out now that I have a use for it.
I got this Nexus 7 from craigslist for $25 a few days ago (previous owner dropped it and chipped a corner but there's no damage other than cosmetic and maybe a tiny 1/2" area in the upper right corner that doesn't respond to touch now, not a big hassle since I use Paranoid Android and the tablet UI so the notification bar and settings are at the bottom). Got a case designed for a Nook Color for $10 and will mod it so the N7 fits like a glove, literally.
So far so good...
Kinda confused- how does this allow for charging as well? Did you hack it up after you got it home? The ones that I have seen that allow charging are y-cables.
Thanks
What I mean is that when I've got the USB OTG cable plugged in, I usually have the N7 attached to a 7-port powered USB hub that I own (Belkin) so I can attach a mouse/keyboard/etc to the N7 and in the process it's being charged from the hub. The 5V 2A adapter I have has had its cable spliced where I attached a male USB plug on it; I may end up redoing that cable to add a microUSB end as well in which case I would then be able to plug it directly into the N7.
I don't have the factory Asus charger with this N7 I got off craigslist, and I'm sure as hell not paying $25+ for one if I already have a 5V 2A adapter that works just fine in its place.
Is this what you were looking for? I bought this one and it works well for me.

[Q] magnetic charge cable

Aloha comunity,
i bought a magnetic charger cable from ebay but it does not snap correctly in place and it's a pain in the *** to connect it correctly.
since i use a case I cannot use the docking station.
Is there any cable you can recommend?
Thanks and greetings
I bought four different cheap ones from ebay. Four different styles... 3 cables and 1 usb micro adapter.
They are all complete garbage. One of them is usable as long as I don't touch or bump the phone at all while it's connected.
I've heard good things about the magnector cable but they are way more expensive. I'll stick with micro usb and the flap for the time being.
magnector is 15€ which is okay. it's a pitty that sony doesn't send one with the phone :/
charging via the usb-connector isn't an long-term option for me since i need to diasemble the case every time and heard that the flap may break or become leaky.
any other suggestions? otherwise i will buy a magnector tomorrow.
thanks and greetings
Magnector x2 is where it's at. It fits my new Devilcase with minimal plastic cutting.
Agree... Magnector x2 is worth the price. I have one since day one with my Z3c.
You can't be disappointed with it...
[emoji6]
Magnector x2 is a premium quality magnet charger but expensive.... 15€ .... and COMPATIBLE only with 3-4 covers
I SUGGEST:
2 of this 15€ ......and work well in EVERY COVER

NOT FOR THE SAME QUALITY.... i have 12 cases from ebay/amazon/other store.... not same quality!
Magnector for the win (X2 adapter or cable)
I have tried various adapters and cables and BY FAR the best ones are these:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q3GK3YI
The X2 adapter is fantastic if you want to carry it with you or plug it into existing microUSB cables, but their cable (in the same listing) is just as great, and a nice, flexible cable. I'm using the Magnector X cable in the car since that's easier to snap on and keep my phone in place. Unlike most magnetic connectors, these have a lil curve that fits perfectly with the side of the phone, preventing it from sliding off as easily, and the magnets are the strongest I've encountered so far.

Hmmm, maybe. All I can say is that one of the four ebay cables I bought terminates in a connector that looks identical to the one in your image. I mean completely identical. It's also the best out of the four I bought and the only one that I actually find usable. The connection is still pretty loose though.
I'll try to find the link to the auction... [edit] here it is

100% neodymium magnet....the same to the others more blasonate connectors, at the end same force.
The problem is the more thickness of the connector.... but you can use on 100% of cases on web....same strong force but a little bit instable....I use my mag connection at home near my bed, I don't need brutal force for stay in charge...without remove my covers :good:

Qi Wireless Charging - try it!

A month ago I upgraded from a Note I (GT-N7000) to a Note II LTE (GT-N7105) and love the numerous improvements.
I decided to try wireless charging but I have to admit this was one aspect where my expectations were quite small. I'm pleased to say that I was wrong and that it is a real benefit. I bought the very cheapest combo of Qi charging pad and Note II module that I found on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251781820...49&var=550705264808&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT It cost me £6.08 which is a about $10 US or €9. The module fits between the battery and the phone's cover. I use a Samsung Flip Case Cover and it closes over the phone as normal with no bulges or fit problems. The pad is specified to output 1A and the module for the phone claims 800 mA. I didn't measure them but after a few days I find the claims believable (I have an extra genuine Samsung battery and previously had been swapping batteries and using a small battery charger with 1A output).
The pad itself is shiny plastic and so the phone, with its similarly shiny plastic back, can easily slip from it. I applied my giant brain to the problem and considered building a small cage from plastic or wire, or perhaps enclosing the pad in some kind of box. Then I had a couple of beers and remembered I already have some 2cm x 2cm velcro (hook+loop) fastener pads and some scissors. I snipped some tiny strips, so 2cm x 4mm, and applied them to each side of the charge pad and in the equivalent positions on the back of the flip case. Perfect and unobtrusive.
The battery charges really fast, the phone is both secure on the pad and quickly removed. No more dicking about with cables! Thank you ebay and China :good:
My qi charging max 460ma and note 2 getting very warm.
My QI Setup!
This is my QI Charger:

How much time does it take for a full charge?

It takes a while...I charge it at 900mA (475mA default) ie half the AC charger rate. But a wireless charger is not meant for charging battery drained phones. They're meant for keeping your phones fully charged all the time by topping it up.

Review of the CHOETECH Essentials Pack

- 3Pack USB C to USB 3.0 Nylon Braid cable(1M*2+2M):
- 6 ports QC 3.0 charging station
- Stand fast wireless charger
*** Just as an FYI. I tested all of these with my S8+. I ordered my Note 8, but like everyone else... Its on the way.
We can start with the Nylon Cable. Quality of it is great. Its actually braided and does work with fast charging. I have noticed there are a few aftermarket USB-C cords that do not support this regardless of the power brick used. I tried this with my Samsung power brick and the CHOETECH Desktop charger.
What I really liked is that this is a thick cord. Everything on this actually feels like quality.
On to the Charging Station... This one makes me happy. At work, my desk has all of my cables hidden for my multiple monitors, docking station and phone line. I do have two desktop plugs but I use one for my extra laptop and the other has to be shared for my 2 tablets and 2 phones. I brought the charging station to work and it did not disappoint.
There are 2 designated ports that allow for 3.0 charging. I have one tablet and one phone that use that. When plugged in at the same time, both said fast charging enabled. Here are the specs on this one.
Even though for some, this may not be a big deal, I actually like the stand. I don't have a place to hide this 6 USB brick, so it still looked presentable. Best part, this came with a USB-C cord. VERY cool.
Finally the Wireless Stand. I didn't get to play with this one as much as I wanted to but it was awesome. I had it on my charger for less that 20 min and had 30% juice from 15% up to 45%.
Even though I was fortunate enough to receive these from CHOETECH, I will always give my honest review on these. You're definitely getting your money's worth on these three items. Now if my Note 8 can arrive, I will update my photos with that phone.

Does the Samsung wireless car charger work with the Note 8?

Having tried various wireless chargers in my 3 cars, I have ended up with Samsung's own offering. Although not the cheapest, it provides more reliable charging and - most importantly for me - I don't get any interference on FM radio, which has been a problem with most of the others that I have tried.
However, having worked faultlessly with my S7 Edge and my S8+, it seems that they won't charge my new Note 8 and the Samsung web site doesn't seem to list a wireless car holder/charger for the Note 8. (The phone charges fine on my non-car wireless chargers, so it's not a phone or case issue).
Before I start looking for alternatives, does anybody have the Samsung car wireless charger working with their Note 8?
It's this one:

I believe this is the same Samsung Qi charger I modified to use in my cars. It has the little button on the back that releases the side arms.
I cut off the base about an inch from the swivel and used JB Weld to glue it on to the proper Proclip mount for the car. I am not sure if you can obtain Proclip bases over in the UK. I hardwired them to an accessory power source or plugged them into a accessory on cigarette lighter socket. Seems to charge the N8 ok.
It works perfectly except it is not fast charging capable.
Here is a picture of one installed.
Thanks.
The plot thickens. When the phone is naked, it charges OK in the Samsung car charger, but when it is in a case - I've tried a Spigen Tough Armor and a Spigen Slim Armor - it doesn't charge, so obviously the problem is with the case.
What confuses me is that the phone charges with no problem on various other non-car Qi chargers (I have quite a selection) when it's in either of the cases, and also that both of my previous phones (S7 Edge and S8+) have no problem charging in the car charger while in their Tough Armor cases.
Anyway, I'm off to start reading threads about which is the best case to buy. On the one hand it's a shame, as I've always got on really well with the Spigen Tough Armor cases. On the other hand, it's a lot cheaper to buy one new case rather than three new car holder/chargers
