Safety of chargers - Nexus 5X Accessories

As long as I'm using a good A to C cable (approved by Bensen), is there any harm in using an old AC brick like from an old Motorola phone? Only outputs like .2a so I get charges slow. Just want to make sure no safety or damage issue

0.2A? That would take forever to charge. But yes, should be fine if it meets specifications.

Included USB Cable

Sorry if this has been asked before but is anyone else's included USB cable rubbish? Mine won't stay in the phone and just pops back out whenever I put it in... Just got the phone today using the cable from my NS4G with the new 2A charger hoping it charges correctly and nothing goes wrong. Is there a fix for this so the plug stays in the phone? My NS4G cable stays in just fine... Love the phone so far in the few hours I have had it today. It's so big I feel awkward holding it but I LOVE IT!!! Such a great phone.
Well the ns4g cable charges it to 100% overnight so i guess I'll keep using that...

Yep same issue here. My cable also pops up very often. I was wondering if I cut a little bit of the white plastic at the base of the micro usb side, will do the job....

Yeah, there's a thread on here somewhere about this very issue. I believe the above suggestion works. As always YMMV.
Yeah i asked the same question here before, some people experience that including me. Solution is to file around the usb port or use anotheer cable.
Unfortunate that we pay such a premium price for this phone and are left with an unusable usb cable

The cable works fine for me. High quality and all. It doesn't pop out in its own.

It's a really nice cord, I'd say high quality but it just pops out and i can't use it ): I guess I will have to cut some of the white back on the cord or just use the ns4g one which seemed to charge it fine with the 2a charger.

Mine is probably a tighter fit than any other phone I've had. The Galaxy nexus cord would literally fall out if you moved the phone.. so bad that sprint credited me 15 bucks to buy another cord
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
I think you should return your cord. Seems defective.

Well I didn't want to deal with all the bs I would probably have to go through to get another so I just busted out the good ol exacto and cut some of the plastic back, now it fits in just fine

Mine cable is good too, I also using my old Nokia MicroUSB cable (from Nokia N82) which is fits well too.

Great idea !! But most of the time the phone will be in your pocket. I would not dare to leave my phone out in the sun while in public place so some thief can snatch it.
True but i suppose just leaving it on a desk at work etc would still add charge to it.

Screen is pretty much biggest drain so even if it helps to slow it down whilst in use, its a good thing

It's light photons, not heat that charge solar panels. The problem is the sheer inefiency of them, though this is getting better

They did say some tech was made where you can charge your phone with water

I doubt anyone would want to leave their phone in direct sunlight for too long, mostly because of how hot it would get. Otherwise, if you're using it while you're outside it'll be able to lower the rate that the battery drains, so that would be a good thing. Otherwise, having it dedicated just for solar charging would not take off IMO
Absolutely useless with current technology.
A solar cell the size of a phone left out in the sun all day wouldn't even charge the phone's battery halfway.
We have awhile to go before solar cells are efficient enough to do this.
As a hiker and someone who's planning some long distance backpacking, I've been looking into purchasing one similar to what's shown in the OP's thread. There's one available on Amazon that's 10,000mAh, can charge itself in sunlight or be plugged into a wall or USB port on a computer. With a carabiner to attach the solar charger to something (belt loop, backpack, etc.) and a long enough cable, you can easily keep your phone out of direct sunlight while leaving the charger sit in the sun. In occasions such as these, I can see how useful they'd be. It's on my "wish list" so I can't speak for how well it works but it has good reviews.

Pretty impressive.

I approve, always nice to have something supplementing your charged battery. I don't see it doing any harm, if it was built in to devices as standard just to give you that extra boost or the chance of emergency power.

Wireless Charging issue (maybe bad charger?)

Not sure if there's something specific you need to do but I bought a brand new techmatte wireless charger. The reviews were all great and I got. From Amazon. I tried it with my g2 and nothing. No matter how much I adjusted it it wouldn't work. The charger lit up when plugged in the wall but the phone didn't charge and the charger didn't show that it recognized a phone on it. I already filed a return since I just got it today but if anyone has any ideas and it works I can cancel the return thanks.
Ps. There's a video on YouTube of it working with other phones so maybe my phone is the issue???

I would suggest the wcp-300. That's the one that i have and it works quite well. I have noticed that if i have my tpu case on the phone it charges a bit slower. So, if you have it in a case, try removing it.

the last bit of advice I can think of for the time being is that the Qi receiver for the phone is on the lower half of the phone. Sometimes I have to position it just so until it registers. Best of luck other than that with your new charger.
If this is anything like the PowerBot Qi charger I got from Amazon, you need to use the supplied cable. I tried to use what I had plugged into my computer at the time and it didn't quite fit right and was very loose so it wouldn't properly power up my Qi charger.

I contacted them and they told me "it isn't compatible with the g2" and they have a different version called the techmatte pod or something like that that works on the g2, but that makes no sense considering qi charging is universal. I'm not sure if I wanna try buying that one or not

As far as I concerned, if it's truly a Qi charger it should work. Maybe you have a faulty unit and they don't have to eat the cost? I'd just return it and get another product. This is what I got:
http://www.amazon.com/PowerBot®-Ind...F8&qid=1398696518&sr=8-2&keywords=powerbot+qi
This works for my two LG G2 VS980 and my Galaxy Nexus 7 (2013). Make sure you use the supplied cable or you'll have a loose connection.

Won't detect turbo charger... very slow charge

So my phone is having issues charging. I just bought a battery replacement but part of me really believes the actual port to be the issue. Anyone know if the port is replaceable? If not, it's probably just time for a new phone.
I assume you have tried another charger and cable? Inspected and cleaned charging port?

Got the qi charger, charges slow and not good for road trips.

Is DeX charing your note 8 as fast as standalone AFC brick?

I have noticed that when i add only the charge to DeX (the one from Note8 box) and the original cable, it does not say "Fast Charging".
Is it yours the same?
Dex does not support fast charging which is a shame
It can't because of how Quick charge works. Passing data through the data cables because you can't push data and power through the same lines. That's why PD is a better option(See Nexus 5X-Newer and Pixel). Of course marketing will always win.

I think it should at least give 1.5A charging like most standard chargers do. Don't quote me though best to ask Samsung. I just know the way QC works it uses data lines for charging to get faster charging so it can't do both.

The phone uses QC. By that alone Android O isn't going to do a thing. One of the requirements for PD is no modifications to the VBUS which Quick Charge needs in order to work.
