OEM Unlock Option Missing - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I am trying to root my T810 according to the tutorial (the one from Android Biits).
It says I have to activate the "OEM Unlock" Option. I have managed to activate the Developer Options but "OEM Unlock" is simply not there.
Can anybody give me a hint, please?
BTW: Sorry for posting here but I was not allowed to post in Development.
Cheers,
hobo

Trying to figure out the same thing. Reading here I found that if it was unavailable after enabling developer options to go to settings/find my phone and disable the reactivation lock and then it would become so but that switch doesn't exist in find my phone to disable. Perhaps something changed in an update?

If you don't see the option in the Developer Option Settings, then you shouldn't need to enable it.

Hello,
before I open a new topic I thought it might be better to update thins one. Hopefully somebody reads this and can help me.
I have a Galaxy Tab S2 at home and want to give it some new "life" with the newest LineageOS (currently runs on Samsung Stock Android 7.0).
I wanted to flash a recovery in order to flash LineageOS. Problem is I'm already stuck one step before since I there is no "OEM unlock" point under the developer options.
Is there a way to fix this or a workaround?

When did you switch dev opt on?
Sometimes the OEM unlock switch is only seen after a day or two after dev opt are switched on.

Hey,
that must been some time ago. Months, if not already a year or more.

Perhaps option is gone with an update you made.
Can't remember if it was there when I got my T810 only found it on my T825.
Did you try to flash TWRP already?
With my several flashs on the T825 I once forgot to activate it, flashing TWRP worked but it didn't boot up afterwards.
Then flashing stock again made it boot again.

Good morning,
isn't it necessary to have the TWRP for flashing?
I tried to flash TWRP with ODIN but it wasn't successful. That's why I wanted to start the recovery mode.

Of course it is.
Was just a question if you tried already even without OEM unlock.
What did Odin say about not being successful?
Which Odin and TWRP did you use?
Btw which S2 is yours?

I have the T810, Odin version is Odin3-v3.14.4, TWRP is twrp-3.3.1-0-gts210vewifi.img.
I saw the COM port up but it couldn't establish connection.

Think you've chosen the wrong one, or it's not a T810 for this has 9.7".

Good question, maybe I picked the wrong one.
No, but I'll try.
So I should try to flash the TWRP without Recovery Mode, so basically the tablet connected to the PC?
Edit: The ve version is for the newer model, since I ordered my in 2016 I thought it's that one.

So I tried with a different ODIN version and the (hopefully) correct twrp file and got this message after a while.
I couldn't upload the picture, hopefully this link works: https://ibb.co/zH0FDdx
Just to make sure I am doing everything right: Tablet is turned on and connected via USB with the PC. I start Oding, select the TWRP file in the row "AP" and start the flash?

Just to clarify : So I understand correctly that T810 is yours? Then the gts210wifi is the one to take.
If you mean "Download Mode" with "turned on" you're right.
If not, activate Dwnld mode 'cause that's the only way you can use Odin.
tar.md5 in AP is correct.
And deactivate "Auto reboot".
Restart manually directly into new TWRP.
Otherwise you see that the Samsung recovery gets revived if it starts by itself without you pressing the appropriate buttons to go into recovery.

Ok, I understand. The problem is I can't "activate" the download mode, this is how it should be done or? With the device powered off, hold Home + Volume Down + Power.
It just boots normal if I press and hold this combo.

Might be on this device just Vol dwn + pwr.
Mine has hardware button probs, so I'm not gonna try if not necessary.

I have the same issue here... No OEM Unlock option. Flashing TWRP with Heimdall (main machine is Linux) and Odin (backup Windows machine) seems to work, but I just can't get into the TWRP recovery.
The steps I followed:
Developer options and USB debugging are on
Tablet is in Download mode
Then I use the heimdall command to flash the TWRP image with --no-reboot, it seems to work succesfully (ODIN says "Pass!")
unplug the USB and use HOME + Vol Down + Power to get it to reboot
the SECOND I see the screen go black, I use HOME + Vol Up + Power
However, the Screen gets stuck in "Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 - powered by Android" no matter how long I hold the combination pressed.
Any tips?

[Q] Bootloop - After PingPong Root and installation of an Application

Good morning....I am hoping someone has some advice. I have run into a situation I have never ran into before and can not seem to find a work around. Yesterday, I ran the pingpong root application and it rooted the phone fine. My issue came after downloading an application that apparently wrote something to my file system to cause this issue. Upon, rebooting my phone it will not boot into the operating system. It loads the Samsung splash screen and then shuts down and reboots right back to the Samsung splash screen over and over again. I was able to access the area where you can wipe the cache and return the phone back to the state when it was bought and it seems to run those fine but when rebooting it simply keeps looping. I had not turned on developer options allowing me to turn on USB debugging so now I can not use Odin or anything else to sideload the stock software back onto the phone. I am not sure what to do because none of the applications will not recognize my device so that I can fit is. Does anyone have any suggestions before I take it into AT&T to see if they can fix it?
Thanks......I am now forced to use an old Iphone (which is terrible) and I just want my android back.

Yes it will work. I did it on my phone because I broke the ROM by uninstalling too many system apps.

I guess I am going to have to take it in because Odin will not stay connected to my phone. It will connect entering the splash screen for a brief second and then it immediately disconnects and when I go into the area to wipe and reboot etc by holding the volume up + Home + power and then releasing power at correct time it never connects or recognizes my phone.
If anyone has any input that would be great......just a little more info...at the bottom it says dm-verify verification failed....
What does that mean?
You have to put the phone in download mode by holding the volume down + Home + power and then volume up when you see the messages for odin to recognize it and work properly. When in download mode you see NO splash screen. No need to have debug mode on to enter download mode.

When I had the S4 if I didnt have debugging enabled nothing would work via download mode. It would connect to odin but then that would be it.

GT-I9295 Brick? Stock ROM fail on system.img.ext4 in Odin

Hi all.
A newbie, I ended up lost after trying to flash the latest CM 12.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active GT-I9295.
At first, there was an issue with the recovery, which upon entering showed black screen instead of the tool itself.
Trying to fix this, I managed to remove the recovery through flashing the Stock ROM, which has failed in Odin on the "system.img.ext4" instead - could not paste screenshot link here, feel free to ask for it, please!
I must say that I have tried hard to figure out what to do with the mess I have caused, but now I am helpless.
Would anyone give me some nice piece of advice to get my phone going again?
Thank you so much!

Did you try odin 3.10 by any chance? That could be the problem. Use odin 3.07 or 3.09, boot manually into download mode with complete shutdown & using vol down + power key and odin the stock ROM, reboot and do the same with TWRP (hold down the vol up key after flashing recovery when it is rebooting)

Hi there, Jason.
Yes, I did exactly as you say - got to the download mode, plugged in, ran Odin (tried 3.10, 3.09 and 3 v1.85) started flashing the latest Stock ROM and the I only got as far as the "system.img.ext4", when the download failed. Sometimes that happened even earlier, saying that there was no PIT etc.
When trying to flash the CWM recovery, it goes through OK, but then when trying to get into it, the screen just goes black, as described in my previous thread - "CWM or TWRP Recovery Black Screen".
I am stuck.
But I still hope that I am not a proud brick owner

Hi. Try this:
Remove the battery and USB cable from your phone, and wait at least 3 seconds.
Place the battery only back in your phone.
Fingers on volume down and home, then another on power. (cold boot directly into download mode - this is important!)
Press up to enter download mode.
Insert USB cable into phone and lie it down somewhere it won't move or be touched during the flash.
Download a good current copy of Odin from:
https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/Odin_3.10.7.zip
Extract the archive and run Odin.exe
Download this emergency recover tar for your device (newest firmware revision available as of right now):
https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/recover/BL_I9295XXUDPA4_RECOVER.tar.md5 (also has official TWRP 3.0.0-2)
Insert "BL_I9295XXUDPA4_RECOVER.tar.md5" in the [BL] slot.
In the Options tab put an [✔] in the "Phone Bootloader Update" checkbox.
If you don't have anything you need on your internal storage, put an [✔] in the "Nand Erase All" checkbox.
Click [Start].
Once the progress bar is near finished, place your fingers on volume up and home to enter directly into official TWRP 3.0.0-2.
If you used the "Nand Erase All" feature earlier, you will need to go into Wipe -> [Format Data] -> type "yes" for your data partition to be usable again.
Hopefully this will get you past your black screen issues.
PS. Remember to flash stock boot.img with your system.img.ext4, as you cannot boot a ROM without a matching boot image.

Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed

I flashed the TekHD rom, let the rom boot, and then tried to boot into recovery from the set up/welcome screen. Instead of booting into recovery, the phone screen is black with small red letters saying "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed"
I cant boot into recovery or the rom. I only get that message.
Help please.
Am able to access download mode. Gotta flash stock with ODin.
You must have forgot to flash the RMM fix. You either have to flash the RMM disabler or flash a custom Kernel that disables it that way before the first reboot after flashing TWRP. It's a new safety feature Samsung has introduced that locks the device after anything gets flashed or modified. Unfortunately, your only option is to re-odin stock files and then wait 7 days again for OEM unlock to appear.
After you get TWRP flashed again, mke sure you flash the fix or a custom Kernel.

looking at the logs, not only should all 4 .md5 be flashed as stated previously, but odin version should be latest 3.13.1 and be sure you are not trying to put older firmware revision than what the device's bootloader is on. and it cant hurt to check if cable is good and android device drivers installed too.

Galaxy S10 bootloop after updte to Android 10

This morning I saw that I can update to the new Android 10 version on my Galaxy S10.
I was happy and of course updated directly.
Everything worked fine, the update was downloaded, installed and the phone rebooted.
And from there it hung in a boot loop.
I had already unlocked the bootloader 2 months ago, but only to flash the original firmware again because of an unsuccessful attempt to install TWRP.
Now the Galaxy S10 starts up, shows the information that the boot loader has been unlocked and then the boot logo and vibrates.
Then it goes straight off and starts again.
I cannot use the key combinations to get into the recovery or in the download mode.
How can I solve this problem ?
(Sorry for my bad englisch i come from germany)
You can try following:
Plug your phone in the PC with the USB cable. Then press/hold Bixby + Volume Down and hopefully it will boot to download-mode.
Otherwise try (still plugged in) force shutdown/restart by pressing/ holding Volume Down + Power - as soon as the screen turns off shift to pressing/ holding Bixby + Volume Down for download-mode. Try it at few times as its all about timing.
If still no luck, unplug your phone and let the battery run out. Then press/hold Bixby + Volume Down and plug in to get to download-mode. This may take some time as the phone needs to recharge a little before it reacts.
Once in download-mode flash your software before the update via Odin - I would use Home_CSC first trying to save your data.
Got exactly the same problem today. Don't know which one I flashed in november though
So how to keep (maybe) the data? flash only HOME_CSC?

Yes to using Home_CSC but to be safe I would flash all 4 files (AP - BL - CP - HomeCSC) as some people have reported their storage gets corrupted/ shows wrong capacity.
Use either Samsung 10 (BSKO) or latest Pie (ASJG). Both should be ok as you are flashing the bootloader when using all 4 files.

Thanks!
I got into the download mode.
I used SamFirm to download the firmware but it was Android 10
Right now i am downloading Andoid Pie from updato.com...
No premium, i am just a free member, so it shows me "20 Hours left"
Where can i download the latest SM-G973F Germany (DBT) Android Pie Firmware for free and without that high speed restriction ?
I think i have to put the home_csc file into the CSC field in odin ?
Didn't work for me, neither ASJG (Pie) nor BSKO (Q).
Had to wipe data, beause system nerver booted again.
Lost all my data. Congrats Samsung to this very best update mechanism. Nerver had on any Nexus nor OnePlus.
Maybe you have more luck.
download mode its not opening idk what i need to do im gonna lose my mind ( sorry for my bad english )

I flashed G973FXXS3ASJG to my Galaxy S10.
First i tried only homeCSC but it was still brick.
Then i flashed only AP, it worked.
But after I set up my smartphone again, I saw that I only have 32 GB of storage even though my Galaxy S10 is the 128 GB version.
Then, as you said, I flashed all four files (AP - BL - CP - HomeCSC).
It still shows me that I only have 32 GB of storage

When I first read your post I thought:
Seriously…. Seriously…..
I mean, why the heck would you only flash one file (you were actually warned against this) when it is just as easy to fill-out all 4 slots in Odin? People amaze me!
Okay its Xmas, so back to helping:
‘What you have experienced is a side-effect of using Odin to flash an AP file to your device with the CSC slots left empty. Never flash a full AP file on this range of devices without also filling at least the HOME_CSC slot. It is safe, however, to flash only a recovery image in the AP slot.
To attempt to repair the damage, you need to boot to TWRP, select Advanced Wipe, tick Data, select Repair or Change File System followed by Resize File System. Your /data will return to its former size, but you will probably find you have lost some data.’
Above is quoted from #ianmacd
So, if your phone is on stock Pie (minimum ASIG), with OEM unlocked, try this to get TWRP installed in order to use above rescue.
Go here and download Multidisabler: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ynos/g97xf-multi-disabler-encryption-t3919714
Go here and download TWRP Magisk Patched: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ynos/recovery-twrp-galaxy-s10-magisk-t3919248
Now read post #2 in the TWRP thread for installation guidance…. When you get to no.10 flash the Multidisabler you downloaded instead and then skip to no.12
After no.12 reboot, boot back into TWRP and try the Data fix above.
If all goes well you will have full storage capacity again, TWRP installed and rooted with Magisk.

Yeah, I can see you have started a thread with your problem.
If the first two of my suggestions doesnt work for you then you have to let the phone bootloop until the battery dies/ runs dry and then try my third suggestion.

Hey Bro, I bricked my phone as well in the morning while updating to android 10 but I just had my bootlocker unlocked but no root on it. Could you tell me if there is any possibility to backup the stuff on my phone? Right not Im waiting for my battery to drain to 0% that I can get into download mode and try something out maybe you have a tip for me
Can someone send me a prepatched magisk ap file for HK 9730 Android 10. I don't know what I did. I just pre patched it myself and flashed with odin just like ANY other update but this time, it gets stuck at Samsung logo. I waited a good while too. Maybe I didn't have the right magisk version which is why I'm asking if someone has a pre patched that works, idk but I don't want to lose my data.

My suggestion is to download the complete stock firmware- be it Pie or 10 (Q) - and then when flashing all 4 files via Odin use the Home_CSC file to try to retain your data.
I use FRIJA to download firmwares as the d/l speed is very good.
Bear in mind, if you at some point intend to root and/or install TWRP your phone will be wiped in the process so backup your stuff before going down that road.
Hi, i have the same problem, i can't access to download mode, i have access to twrp recovery but i can't do anything, if i touch the recovery screen, the phone reboot, have you any suggestion please, to recover my phone?
OK, i find a way accidently!
thks
I am also experiencing this issue that the OP is having with their S10. I also have an S10. There was a software update for my phone and now I wake up to my phone boot looping itself to death.
For someone that lives in the United States, which firmware should I use to recover my phone? I ask because there is like 20+ countries to choose from for the exynos G973F model
Norup58 You saved my life!!!! LOVE YOU. i got into download mode THANKS MAN
LOVE UU
My have a similar problem buh worse... Was updating manually then got the error message.

Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N9600) that will not boot. So far I have flashed 2 official firmwares with Odin, and on the first boot attempt after flashing, it will show a percentage bar that counts up to around 5 or so percent before skipping to 100 then looping again. It only does the percentage thing on the first boot after flashing. When I try a factory reset from the recovery I get a no pdp scenario error also. I have tried all that I can think of and even took it to a Samsung Service centre but no solution. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

Any working ROMs for S6 Lite?

I have an American S6 Lite; I'm stuck in boot loop after applying APAOSP and APLineage from the other threads listed here.
Are there working vanilla Android 10 ROMs for this device?
I followed the TWRP instructions here https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs6qcomlte.html and now my device is stuck in failed download mode, I can't get to the recovery menu and I can't even power it off.

No worries, that happened to me too.
Download stock-firmware for your device from Samsung (i use website samfrew.com), install "Patched Odin 3.14.1 3b" (you can Google it), connect the table with your PC, select the .tar file with AP and flash the firmware.
It worked for me, even with the tablet in stuck download mode.

The recovery you are trying to use is tailored for Tab S6 LTE and not Tab S6 Lite (they are completely different models). The Tab S6 Lite uses Exynos Chipset. There is no TWRP recovery yet for the Tab S6 Lite.

That explains a lot.
The other builds for this device don't work for mine - is there one that does? I'm just trying to get the tablet to work faster and more responsive by removing samsung bloatware BS.
I managed to get the device back and flash the stock ROM from https://cqa.samfrew.com/088d597e02a...87762249b/XAR-P610XXU2ATH5-20200814174401.zip
There was a lot of screwing with it due to power loss - since the screen was on constantly, I had to flash the stock rom bootloader (BL) using Odin with a USB port directly connected to the back of my computer since it provided the voltage necessary. It stopped showing me the broken download screen and started flickering boot looping again, where I plugged it in to a charger and let it set. It showed the power display (that it was charging) and I let it get to 100%.
After the stock rom was on and loading, I tried to flash Lineage again, but now I'm getting "Only stock roms are allowed to be flashed to the device". Googling around - it says I can only flash the stock rom? Forever? How do I unlock this?

I think you need to go through stock rom setup again and re-enable OEM unlock (also happened to me once)

Thanks, I thought this too - the option is completely missing from the developer options. Like it's not even listed.
The OEM download lock is still disabled, since I can flash things at all.

You need to wait 7 days, or manually set the time to a date a month back then the OEM unlock Option should appear again.

Turning off Wifi and automatic time and setting the date back or forward 1+ months didn't bring the option up.
I had to turn on and connect to wifi and let automatic time recognize that it has indeed been 7 days before the OEM option re-appeared. :'(

WiFi is a must before setting the time back if your device is not 7 days old.
