[Q] Xperia Z Wifi problem

Hi there,
A week back I bought this xperia Z everything is good except the wifi connection which really disappointed me alot. The problem is its frequently disconnecting after 10 to 15 mins than connects back. What could be the problem ?
- I have already reboot the phone several times..
- stamina mode is off
- wifi is on during sleep mode
- restart the router also couple of times
One more thing sometimes when connects to wifi...a small yellow icon also shows on the top of wifi signal (exclamation mark)
Android version is 4.2.2 and model no is C6603
Please advise thank you

[Q] 2.4ghz Wifi problem after uptate to Android 4.3

2 days ago my phone got an update from Sony to Android 4.3
The phone works fine and everything is looking good except 1 major problem: the phone is unable to connect to 2.4 ghz wifi networks for most of the time. 9 out of 10 times the phone will only find 5ghz networks.
Turning the phone off and on helps for some time but after a couple of minutes or hours, the network (2.4) is gone and in the Wifi menu, only 5ghz networks will show up.
As most of the Wifi networks are 2.4ghz (including my private, work and friends networks) this is a real problem!
Any suggestions to solve this?

Apparently is a bug in firmware?

Slow Wifi Speeds

Just did a speed test on my pc, mac and note 4. On pc and mac, my speed is always over 200Mbps. On the note 4 it goes to like 30Mbps. All devices are on the 5ghz connection. I have disabled mobile data and reset the device with no luck. Any other suggestions?
What modem is on your N4??

Is your device stock????
Custom rom???
Im on comcast blast service 5ghz router. and my up is like 120 down is like 25...
Yes its stock. Im on timewarner. Dont think its a router issue because other devices in the same location around the apartment are getting the speed im paying for.

Run ookla and post a pic if you can..
Under wifi advanced turn off allways scanning...
I have a different issue. MY wifi shows great speeds when using ookla or any other speed test. But it just stays stuck whenever i try to download something. 9 out of 10 times i have to use mobile data which works real fast. If i am adamant about using only WiFi, then a 5 MB download may take anywhere from 1-2 minutes. I tested the phone with stock software as well as custom ROM. Currently on Firekat 10. My router is a new AC1750.. I have 3 other units which use wifi... An ipad ..A nexus 10 and a Nexus 5. ..Those units dont have a problem. Another thing i would say is that i tried using CM12 rom on my phone for 2-3 days and i noticed that my wifi problems were like 95% gone..Coincidence?
I had to revert to Firekat as i use the stylus too much. Any advice to solve this issue is welcome.. I tried almost everything mentioned in this forum.. including forgetting and then reconnecting...Connecting via WPS... None of them could solve this issue
I have the exact same issue!!!

5.0Ghz wifi not showing after pie update.

So I bought note 9 two days ago and it was on Samsung experience 9.5, oreo 8.1. I have a dual band D link router which has both 5.0Ghz and 2.4Ghz wifi. But after pie update the phone is not picking the 5ghz band at all. I have reset the phone clear cache and also changed router settings.
I think its a software problem of one ui. Is any one facing this issue? Anying I can do to get back 5.0Ghz?
Any suggestion will be appreciated.
Not sure what is causing your problem, don't think it's anything to do with Pie update.
I have been using Pie for months and use 5Ghz wi fi without issues.
Also haven't read of others having similar issues on this forum .
Have you tried wi fi analyser app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer
Tried with app and still nothing. I have reset the phone, cleared cache and still nothing. Mine is a exynos model and it's update handled by Malaysian samsung team.
After One ui pie I don't even see 4k 60 fps recording in rear camera option. It's an awful update. So many things are missing. They need to work on one ui.

Thank You . But I really want the 5.0Ghz band as my speed is super fast. I can download 2 GB in less than a min. 2.4Ghz sucks. I have just reset my router and still not picking 5.0 Ghz up.

Not sure what to tell you. 5.0Ghz works just fine on mine. And I've been on the beta since it was released and now on the official Pie. Never had an issues with it.
Try to change the channel and check.

I have had a similar problem before and since the Pie update. I use 5 ghz band in the same room as my router. 2 Apple devices and my LGV20 are connected to the same 5ghz band. I used wifi analyzer to choose the best channel which for me is channel 40. The other devices hold signal even after sleeping. My Note 9 (unlocked American version) sometimes just loses internet. There is an exclamation point next to the wifi icon. When I check wifi analyzer the signal strength is fine (lower absolute value than 60 or higher value than -60 dbm). The worst thing is once the exclamation point appears (meaning no internet despite retained connection to router) it will never reconnect to internet unless I turn phone wifi off and on. Resetting router has no effect. I reserved an ip for the Note 9 and put the phone on fixed ip so it won't get booted by another device. I'm at my witts end.

If you search the internet you will. Lots of us have wifi icon suddenly show an exclamation point next to it
This means good connection but NO INTERNET! This despite other devices on same 5 ghz network have no problem. Wifi analyzer shows good signal and no competing networks.
The temp fix is wifi off wifi on now it reconnects and everything is fine for 20 minutes or several hours but eventually the exclamation point is back. If it would reconnect or at least try to reconnect it would work but it just sits there waiting for me to do manually.
If we had Bixby routines like the GS10 I would write a routine to toggle wifi when there is no internet but the problem is the wifi IS connected to the router so there is probably no way to write that as a routine... and we don't get routines anyway.
I agree it isn't due to Pie in fact mine is slightly more stable since pie but still that damn exclamation point!

Every time I turn off my snapdragon U.S. version note 9, I have to stand very close to the router for like ten minutes before going upstairs to my room. I have to be standing close to it before it gets picked up by the 5gz wifi. If I do not stand next to it for 10 mins after turning my phone off then on, it will not pick up the 5ghz. I know that sounds simple, but it worked for me.
(I tried first: changing wifi channels, restarting the router, turning off the 2ghz and not the 5ghz, changed passwords for each, I mean everything.)
Hope that helps!

That might help the op who posted months ago and likely solved his problem or returned his phone.
No, as I explained mine always connects and may remain connected for hours or for minutes. It never disconnects. It remains connected to router but stops receiving internet randomly at any time (connected wifi icon with ! next to it
I only use wifi in the same room as the router. It is my mancave and I spend all leisure time at home in that room. I shut off the wifi and the phone before bed. I have unlimited lte data but 5 ghz wifi is way faster. 2.4 ghz is perfectly stable but no faster than LTE+

5ghz AC wifi has always worked for me on any channel, running openwrt on my tplink archer c7 router.
N960F running latest devbase pie rom.
That's good for you but no help to the rest of us. I guess one might deduce my phone is faulty but if so a LOT of Samsung phones have had this flaw for years back to the s7.. I figured if anyone in the world knew the solution he would be in XDA

What roms have you tried?
Why don’t you downgrade to Oreo and see if it works again?
It was the same in Oreo. My phone is stock unlocked Note9 on VZW.

Wifi issues please help me !

I literally just switched from the Note 9 to this phone again because I loved it the first time....
But then after using it for a few hours I noticed the wifi would disconnect and reconnect and then when it did reconnect it would say "connected, no internet" and it's been like that ever since ...I had to connect to my slower 2.4Ghz connection instead of my super fast 5Ghz one because that's the only thing that is working....doesn't make sense because EVERYTHING else in my house is working perfectly it's just this phone....any fixes or should I just get rid of this phone.....
Does it work with other wifi, like your workplace, library, etc.
Most likely, you need a new router or need to update firmware on your wireless router.
It happened to me before with my other phone and my new router fixed the issue. Actually, it just happened this weekend, I cannot connect to hotel wifi with my Razer 2 phone and my wife can (Huawei P30).

I would keep the phone because otherwise it's a good phone. I was having similar issues with the Official PIE MR1(version 3110 in the "about phone" section) it got better over time but not by much. I have a very old 1st generation 5Ghz dualband N router, but it works great on my campus network with their 5Ghz AC routers.
If you're feeling brave then you can downgrade to the older Oreo firmware which seems to have much better wifi and cell connection, or you can try using Arter97's kernal via a similar method if you're attached to Pie. There are plenty of guides on how to do the downgrade/Kernal change and all the files are on Razer's site or here in this device forum for it, so it's not hard to do if you're good at following the directions. I'm still testing the wifi performance changes on Arter97's kernel, but I'll update this reply if there's anything conclusive.
Aside from that, your options are: Try upgrading to an AC wireless router that supports Beam-Forming at least, just waiting it out to see if your phone gets better at connecting(maybe even try moving the router to a different spot), or as a last ditch try replacing the phone with another RP2 or another brand...
That may be because your home wifi can't connect to Google server, China is very common, but it doesn't mean you can't go online.
