N6 vs N6P price - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking to buy a new nexus. The prices are both $499 for the N6 and the N6P. Called google to get an answer as to why they are priced the same if one is this year's model and one is last years model. Got an answer that Google's higher ups set the pricing. That was it. Can anyone find out more info as to why this is true.. Is there something wrong with the N6P that Google decided to keep last years model in the running at the same price?

The N6 is cheaper in a lot of shops than the $500 you say. But the N6 is still a very good phone, and the N6P only beats it in the camera quality.

Here in NL the prices are: 610 euro (N6p 32Gb) and 375 euro (N6 32Gb).

the only real up side for the 6P (to me) is the slightly narrower frame, and the camera. I didn't think i would care about wireless charging, until the used n6 i bought came with 2 cheotech chargers. I use it as my primary charging method for both my n6 and my wife's s6.

[Q] Purchase new Nexus One in UK?

Hi,
Anyone have any idea where I can pick up a new, stock Nexus One in the UK? I lost mine a few months back, and I just can't fall in love with the iPhone4 I replaced it with.
I don't want a Vodafone bastardised one. Needs to be stock, unlocked and unrooted, and I'd like to know if I'm buying AMOLED or LCD ideally.
I know the Nexus S is coming, but I loved the build quality of the Nexus One.
Thanks.
Hey, ive got a IMMACULATE condition nexus one its less then 6 months old bought straight from google america webstore.
I am thinking of getting a iphone4. Would you be interested in a straight trade?
Bought a brand new one on eBay for 320 quid this Thursday. You can get one for 399 "buy it now" or hunt for a better bargain (and wait a little longer).
Thanks for the replies.
Syed, I reckon the iPhone 4 is worth a fair bit more than the N1, so I'll probably flog it on Ebay. Plus i really want a BNIB one.
Cheers.
haha lol woops fair point iphone4 is worth more definately, i meant nexus and cash.
But yeah if your after a totally brand new one then its upto you, all the luck anyway
Hunt in ebay. Close to £260 you'll get BNIB. I paid only 230 back in july.
Bit of a nightmare trying to find what I'm after on Ebay!
I'm after a T-Mobile bands version with AMOLED screen. Most sellers don't bother to say whether it's ATT or T-Mobile, and if the screen is SLCD or AMOLED.
And half don't even bother to say if it's a crappy Vodafone version.
I wish life were simpler! I wish I'd never lost my N1 :-(
Lol bit of a cheeky comment here but if you are interested in even having a look at how new mine looks i could always list some photos up? As i mentions is a defo AMOLED ordered straight from Google so its defo unlocked, etc

[Q] How much is a Nexus One worth now?

I am wanting to sell my Nexus One and I've been looking around some of the prices on Ebay and Craigslist. I wanted to know what people think their Nexus Ones are worth right now.
I tried selling it to someone on this forum and was told: "sorry i can buy a brand new factory sealed n1 from half a dozen places for less than 250." I wasn't able to find any new N1s for at least $250 so I don't think this statement was an attempt to lowball the price. But, if it were true, then that means that my N1's value is on-par with the iPhone 2 or 3G... which I find to be a little hard to swallow.
Mine is in incredibly excellent condition and nothing is broken. I'd love to hear thoughts and opinions.
I've bought mine from buydig.com 2 weeks ago for about 250. Brand new. But with screen calibration issue - something that apparently all nexus ones have :-(
I just checked that site and I don't see anywhere where they sell cell phones...
what network does it operate on? is it unlocked?
if it's in good condition i'd sell it for 300-400 depending on many things. is it rooted? latest OS. that's just me tho.
$210 used, or $260 new, on Amazon
Brand new from ebay at US$279 + free shipping...
I had three and all were rooted with custom ROMs/updated radios.
Sold one on eBay for $215 (auction, not BuyItNow). Sold one on Craigslist for $210.
Keeping the other one for posterity's sake. Still an awesome device, and definitely was a game-changer in the mobile world.

Are You Willing To Spend $650.00 On A Nexus 6 ?

Well You Kinda Knew It Was Going To Happen..
When Google announced their " Silver Line " of products.. and these new products were going to go main stream retail and now it seems with the Big Four carrier's as well.. that, the price of entry was going to go up.
But an 83% increase in price over the 16 Gb entry model and roughly 62% over the 32 Gb version of the previous Nexus 5 to a whopping $650.00+ Tax.
And.. I'm sure the carrier's will offer the N6 @ $199.99 down with a commitment.. ( T-Mobile of course will go $0.00 down and 24 equal payments ) but you know the carrier versions will come with bloatware.. and will AT&T , Verizon and Sprint lock them down like they did their versions of the LG-G3 which all but halted development for that device on those carrier's?
If you can still get a *bloat free* version of the N6 directly from Google.. are you willing to pony up $650.00+ Tax & Shipping cost for the Nexus 6?

I am pretty sure they will do the same like Motorola and keep the price relatively low

$650.00 is the price..
I'm in Canada, and it's 750$. It's a little too steep for me. I'll hold off for as long as my Nexus 4 is still relevant.
Price of the phones here are pretty much all the same anyway (mostly $600+) so I'm used to that [emoji19]
But the N6 looks like a direct competitor to the Note4… Hmm hard decision.

Nope I'm not paying
Nope. Was hoping to buy the 64gb one, but $700 is too much for me on a phone. I might have paid $600. Some day maybe, when the resale price drops. Hopefully there's no supply/production issues, and new resales don't get inflated like they did with the OnePlus One.
Bought a used Note 3 off Swappa for $350 instead. T-Mobile one too, so at least I can root it easily and if I get flash-happy and feel like setting the KNOX counter to 0x1, at least I can try some ROMs and kernels.
I've seen it live, it's an amazing phone! It feels great in hands and it's moving like the wind on the web and apps!
I'm still hoping the new and/or "cheaper" companies will push into the western market and stop this inflational pricing, like the Moto G or OnePlusOne
definitely won't pay 500 bucks or more for a phone
If I had the money I would have not paid $650 even for a Nexus phone plus this is too much considering I could get a phone with almost the same specs half of the price. I'll just get a Nexus 5 or Nexus 9(depending on the price)
650USD...That's about 500 Euro.
Do you lot realize that's what the Nexus 5 cost when they finally managed to import it to the Netherlands, several bloody months after the release?...
Ths Nexus 6 doesn't even have a price here yet, but if you think 640 is bad, the average price for a high-end smartphone here is 800 euro, 1025USD.
So yes, I would happily pay 500 euro for it. If it had a MicroSD slot, anyway.

It's hard decision to make, I have a Nexus 4 and skipped N5 for N6, but completely in splits right now. There is no official info on price here in India, but 650 USD translates to Rs. 39,750 and 699 USD means Rs. 42,750, I guess there will be local taxes, if I consider other flagships, S5 Exynos is down at Rs. 37,000, G3 at Rs. 40,000, Z3 is at Rs. 49,999, so taking these into consideration the asking price for N6 is okayish, but when I consider the reported OPO launch in India at the end of the year at Rs. 22,000 and the Moto X (2014) at Rs. 31,999.. I am not able to make my mind up.. both of these are great devices and they will eventually get Lollipop.
PS: I almost forgot the monstrous Lenovo Vibe Z2 here with 801, 3GB, 16MP OIS Cam, a 6" QHD Screen and a healthy 400 mAh battery available at Rs. 32,999/- Its hard decision to make!
Short answer: Hell no.
Long answer: Considering how expensive new smartphones are, its no surprise how expensive the N6 is. Some rather rich people or Nexus fans will get it, but I have never bought a smartphone over €300.-
My current phone, the Z Ultra, fulfills everything I want and I bought it for only €250.- 3 months ago. The difference between Snapdragon 800 and 805 are not that big, at least in everyday use.
Well, at least I hope this nexus will have a better quality and purchase availability.
Considering that the new nexus is 6 coll, well...
My Z ultra isnt that out of standard anymore.

^ this. I still own a GNexus, skipped n4/n5 for a n6 (to be honest, 6 was not meant as "6 inch display" but as n5 successor)
I think I will get a One Plus Two (?) or something like that
Willing? Yes
Able? HAH!
not really
Paying that much for a device, which decreases in price pretty quickly is like buying a new car: if you really like it and you won't get buyers remorse, feel free. Not for me, though.
The price is a bit high.
What I really don't like about the Nexus 6 is the long hole below, it looks too much like a Moto and it just doesn't look good with it.
Price in Norway is $865 for the 32GB version.
Hopefully the price will go down a bit when it's available in the Play store and other stores here.
No

Looking to get Moto Maxx

Hey guys,
I've been on the hunt for the next smartphone to replace my old rust bucket Galaxy S4, I think I have my eyes set on the Moto Maxx XT1225 now. Except it seems like this phone is pretty much unobtainable since nothing 'affordable' or not many options out there exist. What's a decent price for this anyway? I've been following Ebay and swappa but nothing really there... I saw $830 on one site, but when I look at Motorola site for Mexico its about $580 I think new. Sucks they're not shipping to US... Thoughts?
You just need to keep watching swappa...they pop up, but seem to sell pretty quickly these days.
Not sure about any other options beyond those you mentioned.
[Edjt]: Forgot to mention...I assume you're subscribed to the Moto Maxx sale page...there's a couple dealers that periodically/regularly get some in.

Yeah I agree, I did notice one that popped up and immediately got sold on Swappa, even though I was subscribed to it... Do you think I should pursue Moto Maxx or keep my S4 and wait for something new from Motorola or OnePlus to come through that will have something better?

Well...that really depends on whether you want to wait, and what specifics you're looking for. I know I love the Maxx, but I'd love it a bit more if it had an IR blaster and OIS on the camera. But it's still my daily driver...probably for quite some time to come.
If I were you, I'd probably grab one if a good one came up at a good price. BUT...if you're a photography buff, Samsung or LG is better.
And the phonea that are coming are (of course) always better. But I tens to buy flagships that are 6 months +/- old...great phones at reduced prices!
Somebody just asked me the same question.
Here's my reply. He saw the $830 one also, but I found cheaper for him:
_________
Here's one on eBay, $749 - with free shipping:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-B...588?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2352d98984
It was $759 this morning, when I first checked -- but the seller just dropped the price $10. Contact him, he might be open to a "best offer".
_________
You just missed one on Swappa:
recent Moto Maxx sales.
http://swappa.com/buy/moto-maxx-unlocked
this one sold for $530 on June 14. Says it was mint condition.
http://swappa.com/listing/WEI213/view
$830 is high. Brand new would be $699 - $749, as it's basically a 5.2" 64GB Nexus 6.
Used would be less. $530 was a great price for "mint" condition.
__________
And no matter what some of these sites say for specs, the XT1225 has LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17. ALL the XT1225 -- the Moto Maxx and Moto Turbo.
Ya, stick with it if you can. I just got a mint one from ebay for $650 couple weeks ago. ($530 was indeed a great price, wish I'd have gotten that!) It's a great device so far!
Is there is a way to get from official moto mexico site? As I understand price in Mexico is around ~590 USD.
Theres a lot of mexicans arround here that would gladly help you get one (me included, just that I'm not very known in here)

so, where to buy in USA without getting price gouged?

So, I've checked out the pages in blackphantom's list of 'where to buy' (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3514744) this phone, but of those sites that I have examined, the prices being charged are all several hundred dollars higher than the base price (supposed to be around five hundred, with most sites charging 700-800 and up). any suggestions? i bought my oneplus one for 350, even here in the states, and i love it. i honestly still do not have an actual 'reason' to buy another phone right now, even though my phone is 2.5 years old (still works like a freaking champ, and it's gorgeous, imho). the mi mix is the first phone in a while that looked like something i would consider upgrading to, but i'm not going to spend more than five hundred dollars on a phone, particularly when my phone is still kicking it.
any suggestions?
Just wait until after CES & MWC 2017 pass by,along with the usual Q1-early Q2 phone announcements/releases.
Limited production quantities of 10k/month is the reason for the 3rd party mark-up.
If you live outside of China, it's the price you're gonna pay.No one here has paid the MSRP w/o a mark-up & that will be the case until other mfgs emulate this design.
Sent from my lithium using XDA Labs
Holding out for CES 2017 is a good idea. Xiaomi will be there. There is a white variant that has been leaked on the Xiaomi official forum, which is quite ugly. Personally, I would prefer a North American version of this thing. If they don't release one, hopefully the buzz about other devices will bring the prices down a little.
Yup. There isn't one. Best I found was on Swappa.
http://www.xiaomidevice.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-pro-6gb-256gb.html
Swappa.com. Got mine for $500 in like new condition. Arrived at my house 2 days after purchase.
Swappa, got my 256 GB gold edition Mint like new for 580
