Discussion About GTA SA on MOTO G3 - Moto G 2015 Themes and Apps

Previously i owned SONY Xperia M, which was quite old now with low hardware support than moto g3.
But GTA SA was running Nice without any lag.
I played full complete GTA missions on xperia m without lag on medium setting... by default setting.
On xperia m i did not changed any configuration on stock rom...and played wel on default setting.
But on Moto G 3 which is very much powerfull than Xperia m in hardware and software...
But GTA SA is not playable on this handset...
Game lag too much...
Even on lowest setting ...game lag.
I feel shame...when my friend with low end configuration handset play GTA on their set smoothly ...but i cant play it on my moto g 3 ...cause of lagging.
So whats the real cause on such behaviour of moto g 3 for GTA sa?
Can any developer optime it for us?

gta doesn't support snapdragon processor/Adreno GPU i heard somewhere.. PLS CORRECT ME OF IM WRONG.

It played fine on my Nexus 4, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't played it in so long...I could try installing it and see if I can find any work arounds. I have the Amazon version, but unless they've done any major performance enhacements in the last version or so it shouldn't make any difference.

It was probably the 480 x 854 screen resolution of the Xperia M (which also has an Adreno GPU).
The game is likely poorly optimized and very GPU dependent. So the Adreno 305 in your Xperia had less work to do at the lower resolution.

..::Matr!x::..
you can try with this tool to ptimize gpu drivers >> GLTools (free for xda member)

i too got this doubt , why This Moto G isnt playing GTA
i googled every phone which is having 410 processor,
things i noticed :
1) Other than Moto E and samsung A3 which are having 410 processors, every other phone having resolution of 720p has LAGGED ( exactly like our moto g)
2) Old moto G 2014 can also play the game which is having SD400,
(phones compared and similar to moto g 3rd : Samsung A5,redmi 2 prime )
i feel that its the GAME which is not optimized for 410 series, because this GTA plays good in Old phones which are having SD400 and even small processors with 1gb rams
Batmanark night rises is heavier than this GTA but it is playing better than this GTA,
so i vote for GAME NOT OPTIMIZED rather than complaining about our Moto G

The fact is that since the game is not optimised for sd410 so there are very high frame drops and the game feels to be sluggish.

The game is not optimized for a sd400 chipset. I have a HTC Desire 610, with a sd400 and with the app resolution changer, I bumped my resolution up to 720p. Even one stock ROM, no root, it would lag. Now I'm on cm11 and its still lagging. On my brothers old SGS3, it plays SMOOTH on max. The game is not optimized for the snapdragon line of chipsets. It seems Mali GPUs and powerVR GPUs and tegra GPUs run it smooth.

A Galaxy s2 run it smoother than any Snapdragon 4xx device.

[APP] Modern combat 2 and adreno 205

did anyone try this yet?
http://www.gameloft.com/android-games/modern-combat-2-black-pegasus/
its one of the best 3d games i ever played on android, my desire HD is running it blazing fast
however gameloft downgraded the graphics for the qualcomm version, it seems gameloft decided to give priority to the hummingbird devices
compared to the galaxy S version, it lacks reflections on the weapons, character shadows, a blur effect when hit by bullets and maybe more stuff
i don't understand why gameloft keep releasing the same version for both the old snapdragon and 2nd gen snapdragon devices
seeing how crazy fast the frame rate is running on the DHD, its obvious the adreno 205 can do much more

i have this game too its great, but gameloft have reasons for that, adreno cant shift half as many polygons as the powervr in the galaxy series, just look at ashpalt 5, even the DHD can only just run it with minimal slowdown, but the galaxy version looks amazing with reflections on the cars and more realistic tarmac, and powervr runs it with no hickups at all. i like my DHD though, if i wanted to play games that badly, id just fire up my xbox

i dont agree about asphalt 5 the dhd runs all gameloft games at very high frame rates, modern combat 2 is running at 60fps without a hiccup once
but i didnt know even asphalt is downgraded in terms of effects
my point is adreno 205 is quit capable and samsung figures about the power vr chipset are not accurate

its not just gameloft games, for example the galaxy s verson of NFS Shift looks amazing compared to the snapdragon version. it doesnt help that devs can't be arsed making better looking games for our version of adreno, they just make a snapdragon version. so ours our dumbed down so the desire and evo can play them
exactly my point, adreno was much improved with model 205, but i don't see gameloft bothering
by the way NFS can be hacked to play in high resolution
someone posted the hack a while ago in this forum, i tried it and it really works
maybe we can mix the galaxy S gameloft games with the snapdragon ones the same way

Is o4x lags?

I want to buy an LG O4X, but i have heared it lags.
I have watched a lot of videos too, but in most of them the phone weren't lags.
I want to play HD games on it without lags. Is this possible?
Please ask fast.
THX together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnsIMd2gyxo
seem my video here.
It lags in some games , but mostly not.
OK, but why is this phone lagging?
Its got quad-core processor.(and expensive too)
Is somebody reported it to LG?
It lags in some games due to them being not customized for Tegra 3 processor. The same happens with HTC One X.
Apart from games. the phone is smooth. Even smoother than my friend's One X with JB.

[Q] Only one core used in gaming, why?

Since i noticed lags in games i tried to figure out whats wrong with my phone, and finally found app named Quick System Info PRO (its free) and there is an option "live monitor" which shows cpu freq and usage per every core in on screen widget, which is staint over most content on screen including games. I've played some titles like GTA3, NFS most wanted, shadowgun etc. and every single game uses ony one core scaling usualy between 1000-1500 MHz with approx. 70-100% usage. I've tried same thing on my nexus 7 (android 4.2.2) and everything runs very fast and it uses 2-3 cores scaled around 600-1000 MHz with 20-40% usage.
There is no problem in chrome, antutu they're using more cores, this happens only in games (every title I've played have the same issue even THD titles)
so whats the matter? is it ICS fault? Do you have the same issue? is there any way to fix it or will JB updade fix it?
I'm using stock LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012 firmware, phone is rooted.
I've noticed exactly the same thing as you, I've checked with the "hidden code" to check for core speeds
really strange i wish someone to fix this bug is really disappointed quad core 1gb ram tegra 3 and lag all games
+ tegra games.... lets think possitive...
Is there any way to fix it? hope JB will solve everything
Something I saw in the one x forum which I will try when I get home is limiting the max frequency to 1ghz, as it won't use all 4 cores any higher than this because of overheat. More likely the cause is bad optimization

Yes, what you say is somewhat true. When the core of the phone hits 40 degrees celsius, it clocks at a lower speed and that's when you see the "slow charging" even though you plug it in a wall socket.

What I read was 1500mhz: 1 core, 1100-1400: 2 to 3 cores and >1000mhz: 4 cores. I know of the temperature setting also. Tested this with NFS MW, I noticed no improvements but neither did it perform any worse which is interesting for a game that's not the smoothest

Just like normal computers, if a piece of software is not designed to use multi threading.. then it will only use one cpu.

Yep its mostly devs fault, however they should be using it anyway because they are compatible with galaxy s3? Could it be possible to hack it so it uses the s3 configuration and achieve multiple for usage, or is it impossible across different chipsets? I don't get it, I've seen that most games we complain about do not have these issues on the HTC one x

You can modify build.prop to look like that of a galaxy s3 (edit model, manufacturer etc..), might trigger it, but that might create problems with other apps (including play store)
I think it's just bad programming since there are functions in android java that will allow you to get the number of cores, so then.. you can enable multi threading... not sure why they would use device detection or whatever.. I mean if a device got 4 cpus, it got 4 cpus! doesnt have to be a bloody s3
I think it's ICS 4.0.3 fault, like I said before everything runs smooth on Nexus 7 which have 4.2.2 and notice that one X already have 4.1.2.
Suprising fact I've found on polish wikipedia is improvements list of 4.1.2 and line that says:
"optymalizacja wydajności w grach dla procesorów NVidia Tegra 3 i kart graficznych NVidia GeForce ULP"
which means: "In-game performance optimalisation for NVidia Tegra 3 proccessors and NVidia GeForce ULP graphics cards"
Hope thats true

Well like you say they run fine on other hardware, HD games must have multi threading support for these and the galaxy s3, so the question is why aren't they using it for ours? Must be the software, even forcing all cores online does nothing to help.

If it uses handset detection, and detects HOX and it ticks it as supported, then its going to work because it will activate multithreading.. but probably it doesnt detect the lg 4x as supported... because IMO, it uses the wrong detection (device based) to determine mutithreading.

Its not exactly our phones fault that most games using 1 core, in-fact almost all apps runs using 1 core they are not yet optimized to use multi-core,in our case its little developers fault and little ICS fault.
Also I am still confused why you people complain about lags? This device is very smooth and I play HD games on my (50 inch full HD) TV with my PS3 bluetooth controller(specially bought for gaming on 4X) and it runs just fine. I play Shadow Gun deadzone online with no lags(even with tiny lag - single frame skip means I am dead)...etc NFS MW runs fine too rarely it runs little slow in first few seconds of race but later it becomes fine.
I had issues with heat and battery drain problem to overcome this I have underclock my device to 4cores 1.2ghz (Governor - onthedemand) and even after underclocking it runs all my games fine. I have read (never tested) for gaming governor - Performance is i deal but battery drains faster.
However similar complains were there in HTC OneX as well until it gets updated to JB.
So I assume this issue should get resolved with JB update.

The worst games are nova 3 and amazing spiderman, if you can figure how to make them run smooth I'll be happy, most others are playable on my phone

Update: If gaming is your top priority I recommend downgrading to v10d until.this jb update comes, I haven't checked of all cores were used but most wanted was much smoother, also phone got very hot! Tried amazing Spiderman which was unplayable, its still quite slow but is possible to play, going to test nova 3 next

[Q] Question to users of T, TX or V

I can get this at 300$ in my country. So the question would be how is the gaming performance on Adreno 225? Do I need Adreno 320 on Xperia SP. SP is kinda better but I like this phone MUCH MUCH better.
Vice City, N.O.V.A 3, modern combat 4...
For me performance on 225 is quite good. I haven't seen any games on 320 so I can't compare to it. But also for me 8GB on SP is too small for games.
Vice City - unplayable on 4.1.2 on Xperia T (also on V and TX probably, the same chip). Game freezes when you enter the vehicle
NOVA 3 - perfect
Modern Combat 4 - more than perfect
Vice City. That's just issue with the game. Important thing is that is does not lag.
Now I need someone to:
1. Report more performance on newer games. You can play everything right?
2. Rooted device and some big popular game installed. So he can install FPS meter from play store and report some FPS.

No to so really "lol" thing because if you play on 100% resolution then the game works perfectly, even for me. But the framerate is too low and I don't want Power Point instead of a game.

Almost every new game that is available for T works perfectly. But of course if it's optimized well.

What are you talking about I played on other resolutions and it worked too. FPS is at 20 - 40
I can give proof lol
I want EVERY game on android 25+FPS. Don't really care about the resolution as long as it isn't crap though. So Vice City about 50%. Same for draw distance.
But if the game has too much requirements for 225 then I suppose that Adreno 320 would be useless also...
Powerpoint instead of the game LOL

Xperia Z GPU, low graphics?

Hello, i come from Indonesia [emoji1]
May I ask a question, I know that xperia z has adreno 320 GPU, that clocked max 400 mhz, it seems this GPU is one of the best..
I use official 5.1.1, and I have used from 4.1 to 5.1, why game line let's get rich is seems bit laggy, especially when a little hot?
Any one can improve the graphics?
My brother uses on android one that use mediatek, it's fine to play this game [emoji25] ..
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
Didn't encounter such problems. There are occasional lags here and there, but its mostly because of game is self(crappy coding, lack of optimization, or use loots of totally useless light/shadow effects to hide bad models and textures).
But on my XZ I have no real problem with that, I tried most of games, Real Racing 3 load few years and after that it lag here and there, but its playable.
Even if I dont like PC Minecraft, MC pocked edition is my only paid game that bought and with everything on high its work really nice.
Did you tried changing GPU/CPU settings i Programmer Options in settings? (Graphi Acceleration/force GPU etc)
And yes, its gonna be hot as hell, my record is 78*C after that its FC most of apps, and when it reach more it restart phone... On summer in Spain I could play games maybe for 20min because I literally could not hold my own phone in hands xD
Yeah, maybe software optimization, but I think it's still cpu or gpu problem, I stated that android one that has mediatek with same clock gpu 400 mhz, can run this games so smooth ?..

But it if I know good Android One devices don't have FHD display. If you want better perfomance change resolution to 1280x720 and DPI to 320.
I recommend 360-380, after almost 5 years of playing with DPI on every device, 360 looks best on XZ, not that big as stock 480 and still not that small to squeeze face to screen to read something.
But to be honest changing DPI dont give anything in terms of performance, unlike resolution...
For changing resoultion I recommend this app(root of course is must have):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nomone.resolution_changer&hl
Didnt had any bootloop with it.
But be warned that changing res can mess your app. Its best to use after fresh installation OR after reseting apps/games settings.
Also its can mess soft keys(bottom nav buttons) and Stock Launcher. So its better to use custom one(I recommend Aviate launcher. clean, fast and with nice category tab).
I will try change resolution n DPI, let's see what it goes..
Thanks for your answer ?
