Many are struggling with the firmware update process because they are outside the US and/or without an ATT account. There are three ways to update your S6 Active - using the official Samsung Smart Switch program, manually flashing the firmware with Odin, and manually sideloading with ADB.
Option 1 works for people located in the US with an ATT sim card. However some people can't see the latest firmware.
Option 2 works for everybody regardless of their firmware, mobile operator or location.
Option 3 works for everybody regardless of their firmware, mobile operator or location.
There is a Troubleshooting Tutorial at the end of the post. If you run into a problem, make sure to check there before asking for help.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTION 1: Using Samsung's Smart Switch program
(It works for some users but others say the program is not showing the latest firmware)
--------------
1.) Download and install Smart Switch on your computer.
-> Smart Switch for your PC
-> Smart Switch for your Mac
2.) Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
3.) Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
4.) Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. The process may take a few minutes.
5.) Open Smart Switch on your computer and allow it to make the connection.
-> If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
6.) Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.
7.) Click OK to proceed.
Your device may turn off and on a few times during the update process. After the update is complete your data should be preserved. However if you stop the installation by turning off the device, or unplugging the USB cable, your device may not work normally. To avoid data loss you should back up everything before you begin the update.
You cannot downgrade the software after the update has been completed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTION 2: Download v23 - 7.0.1 - G890AUCS7DRA2 firmware and flash it with Odin
(If you have a problem check the Troubleshooting Tutorial at the bottom of the post.)
Once your firmware is updated to Nougat 7.* you cannot use Odin to downgrade to Lollipop 5.* or Marshmallow 6.*. The bootloader is also upgraded and cannot be downgraded to a lower version.
--------------
IMPORTANT: Flashing via this method WILL WIPE EVERYTHING SO BACKUP FIRST!
1.) Download the latest Odin version.
2.) Download the firmware (v23 - 7.0.1 - G890AUCS7DRA2) from one of the links below:
-> v23 - 7.0.1 - G890AUCS7DRA2 at Mega.nz + (Alternative AndroidFileHost Link) (Thanks to @Phamvietquy)
-> If you know about other links, please share!
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you need v16 or v18 for some reason... I'm leaving the download links below:
-> v18 - 7.0 - G890AUCU6DQF1 at Mega.nz + (Alternative Google Drive Link) (Thanks to @Phamvietquy)
-> v16 - 7.0 - G890AUCU6DQD1 at Mega.nz + (Alternative Mega.nz Link) (Thanks to @Phamvietquy)
3.) Ensure that you have installed the USB drivers first.
4.) Prerequisites: Before you proceed prepare these necessary things as follows so you will not screw-up your phone:
• Create a back-up with Smart Switch of all your personal data, like: Contacts, Messages, Applications, Pictures and Videos, so that you will not lost it just in-case something might went wrong after the update.
• Make sure that your Galaxy S6 Active battery is fully charged to ensure stability and to get rid of power failure issues while updating.
• Prepare a PC, this will not work on Mac.
• Enable USB debugging mode if you are having issues connecting your device to the computer try to enable the this option. In your Samsung Galaxy S6 Active go to Settings >> About device >> then look for the firmware "Build number" and then tap that build number for around 7-times. Then hit back to Settings > Developer option > Enable USB Debugging.
• TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock - Go to Settings > PERSONAL > Lock screen and security > Find My Mobile and log in your Samsung Account. Then uncheck the Turn Reactivation lock on. This is only needed if you already turned-it-ON, from which you cannot modify the system when it's turned-ON.
• If you disabled some system bloatware manually or with a third party software, make sure everything is enabled again. Check the Troubleshooting Tutorial at the end if you run into any problems.
5.) Start ODIN. DO NOT touch the default options such as check-marked boxes "Auto-Reboot" and "F-Reset Time" while leaving the "e-Partition" unchecked.
6.) Reboot the Galaxy S6 Active into Download Mode: Turn it Off first. Then press and hold the Volume Down, HOME and Power ON button at the same time). You will then presented into a "Warning Message" screen, just press the Volume Up to continue.
7.) Connect the USB data cable from Phone to PC. The ID:COM box will turn to a bluish color when the phone is properly connected and recognized with ODIN.
8.) Extract the stock firmware from the zip file and load in ODIN. Just click on the BL button then select the files starting with "BL_". Then click the AP button and choose the file starting with "AP_", same with the buttons CP and CSC:
BL Button loads BL_G890AUCS7DRA2_CL12599862_QB16473731_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
AP Button loads AP_G890AUCS7DRA2_CL12599862_QB16473731_REV02_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5
CP Button loads CP_G890AUCS7DRA2_CP8601344_CL12599862_QB16473731_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC Button loads CSC_ATT_G890AATT7DRA2_CL12599862_QB16473731_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
9.) Lastly, tick the "START" button when all is set and ready to begin flashing.
Do not disconnect nor do anything when the phone is already in flash mode. You may mess up the phone if you accidentally interfere with the installation. Wait until a word "PASS" appears on the top-left side of the ODIN screen - it is an indication that the installation was successful. (If you get FAILED errors, check the USB connection condition, repeat the whole process)
Wait until the phone completely reboots, then unplug it from the PC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTION 3: Sideload via ADB to Nougat v28 - 7.0.1 - G890AUCS7DRF2
(Huge thanks to @ccrowe3 & @archie87 & @Jimmyvb98 for the info and the firmware links!) These files cannot be flashed with ODIN. Use the instructions below!
--------------
IMPORTANT: Flashing via this method WILL WIPE EVERYTHING SO BACKUP FIRST. You can use this option regardless of your firmware version. Just make sure to sideload the proper file for your current firmware!
1.) Prerequisites: Before you proceed prepare these necessary things as follows so you will not screw-up your phone:
• Create a back-up with Smart Switch of all your personal data, like: Contacts, Messages, Applications, Pictures and Videos, so that you will not lost it just in-case something might went wrong after the update.
• Make sure that your Galaxy S6 Active battery is fully charged to ensure stability and to get rid of power failure issues while updating.
• Prepare a PC, this will not work on Mac.
2.) Download the firmware packages from the official AT&T Update server to your PC (or use the alternative links):
** If you see SERVER ERROR 403 and cannot download the file, try with a download manager program like Download Manager (EN) or Download Master (RU). (it's free) **

3.) Reboot the phone into recovery. Turn it off and wait a minute for it to completely turn off. Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see a little Android guy. It will say Applying System Update or something like that possibly, and just let it do it's thing until a menu comes up.
4.) Select "Apply Update from ADB"
5.) Make sure you have ADB installed on your PC:
-> ADB for Windows
-> ADB for Mac
-> ADB for Linux
6.) If you're on firmware v19 and you're going for v20 the update file is called "SS-G890AUCS6DQG1-to-S6DQH1-UP". Put it in the ADB folder. You can rename it to anything easy to remember like "FIRMWARE".
7.) In the ADB folder, hold SHIFT + mouse right click and choose "Open command window here". Then type the command "adb sideload FIRMWARE" (where FIRMWARE is how you named your file). If you have any problems check the Troubleshooting Tutorial at the end of the post.
8.) Wait patiently. The firmware files over 1 GB can take over 30-40 minutes. It's okay.
9.) Phone reboots and will hang at AT&T logo for a short time and it'll boot up properly. Now repeat steps 3 to 8 for the firmware files until you're on the latest firmware.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troubleshooting Tutorial
• If you get an error message "cannot read FIRMWARE" in the ADB window:
-> Try running ADB as administrator. To do that click your Windows START button, then search for "CMD" and you'll see "cmd.exe" in the results. Right click it and choose "Run as Administrator". Then if your ADB folder is located in C:\adb, write the commands cd c:\adb and then adb sideload FIRMWARE (where FIRMWARE is how you named the firmware file).
-> Try with different ADB drivers. Uninstall yours, restart the PC and install these: http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
-> Try again on another PC, try on different version of Windows, try with a different USB cable. Users reporting this problem resolved it like this.
-> Re-download (you can't use the one you've got!) the file which cannot be read. Don't rename it. Just put it in the ADB folder, copy the file name so you don't have to type it manually, and run the command in ADB -> "adb sideload [name of file]". To paste in Command Prompt you have to Right Mouse Click in the window and choose Paste in the menu. If this solution doesn't work, rename the firmware file to "01" and try "adb sideload 01". If it doesn't work type "adb sideload 01.zip" but don't rename the file, keep it "01".
-> Rename the ADB folder to Android and put it in your C:\ drive. Your active directory to ABD must be C:\Android. Then SHIFT + Right click to run Command Prompt from that folder and type "adb sideload [name of file]". If it doesn't work, rename the file to add .zip extension and try again "adb sideload [name of file].zip". If it doesn't work try "adb sideload [name of file].zip.zip".
-> If you renamed the file to add a .zip extension (for example FIRMWARE.zip) and you've got the error message, then you renamed it back to FIRMWARE and you've still get the same error message, leave the name FIRMWARE (without the .zip extension) but try "adb sideload FIRMWARE.zip". So even thought your file is called FIRMWARE without zip extension, you still type the command with the zip extension and it may work.
-> One person said the following: "Adding to the list of things that may lead to * cannot read 'file.zip' * : check your PC's available memory. I'm a dev so I had a few apps running and hogging all of my 12Gb of ram, but I wasn't aware until windows suggested to close one of them . I then realised adb may not have enough memory to open the file (or whatever it is that it's doing before sideloading). Once I stopped some of the apps, thus lowering the memory usage, it worked OK."
-> Under Windows 10 click the "START" button (bottom left on the screen) -> Click "Settings" -> Click "Update & Security" -> In the left menu click "For developers" -> Select "Developer mode" on the right. -> Click "Yes" when prompted. Now download new ADB files from here, unzip and replace the files in c:\adb. Now restart the PC and then try sideloading again. If you get an error, add .zip to the firmware file and try again.
-> Try to "elevate" the "adb" process as explained here.
• If you get an error message Status 7 on the phone during the sideload:
-> If you see this error during sideload after flashing the modified 5.1.1. BOJE with ODIN (without the cache.img), then flash the original BOJE again (unmodified, with the cache.img). Then try sideloading again.
-> Please check the link below. You probably have some system bloatware disabled (manually or with a third party software) which ruined the process. So enable everything and then start over:
-> http://www.**********.com/fix-status-7-error-while-installing-ota-update-or-roms/
• If the sideload fails, your phone goes into bootload cycle and in Recovery Mode you see "dm-verity verification failed..."
-> Don't worry. This happened to me and I thought I have to buy a new phone or ship this one to Samsung. No need! To solve the issue:
1. Download latest official firmware zip file from OPTION 2. You can't use the files from OPTION 3!
2. Download the [TOOL] TAR.MD5 PACKAGER from this XDA thread.
3. Extract the official firmware zip to get the MD5 file inside called "CSC_ATT_G890AATT5CPK3_CL9696102_QB11587784_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5".
4. Put the MD5 file in the main folder of the TAR_MD5_PACKAGER TOOL. Not in a sub folder, but in the main folder.
5. Start the tool from "TAR.MD5_PACKAGER.bat" and you'll see a menu in the tool window. Click "3" to Extract the Rom.
6. In the next window click "1", then "Enter", then "Y". It'll start extracting the MD5 file.
7. Once ready it'll ask you to click any key. Do it and you'll see the main menu of the TOOL program. Now go to the TOOL folder, then the subfolder "parts" and delete the file "cache.img"
8. Switch back to the TOOL program and click "1" to "Make Tar" and to create the new TAR file. On the next screen it'll ask you to choose a name. Type anything you want. I've typed CSC. Then click "Enter", then "Y". It'll start packaging the new tar file. Once it's done it'll ask you to click any key and then it'll bring the main menu of the TOOL again.
9. Now in the main menu of the TOOL click "2" to "Add MD5 to Tar", then click "1" and then "Enter", then "Y". It'll start adding the MD5 and once it's completed it'll ask you to press any key.
10. Press any key and you're back to the main menu of the TOOL. Press "4" to "Exit" and you're out of the program. Go to the TOOL folder, then subfolder "packaged". Inside you'll find the new flashable file "CSC.tar.md5". Do not rename or change the file anymore. Now follow OPTION 2 -> Step 8 to flash the latest firmware again but when you're loading the last file in ODIN under the CSC Button use the new file you've just created - "CSC.tar.md5"!!
11. That's it! Your phone will load up normally. Before you start sideloading again, reboot the phone into Recovery -> Turn it off and then hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see the Recovery menu. Wipe the cache. Then reboot and you can continue to sideload. Make sure to follow all requirements in OPTION 3 -> Step 1.
12. In case you can't sideload and you get Status 7 error, flash the UNMODIFIED ORIGINAL 5.1.1. BOJE again. This should fix the problem.
• During OPTION 3 if ODIN always fail when it's almost finished and you're stuck with a screen that says there was a problem upgrading:
-> Try Smart Switch's emergency recovery function. You'll have to type the phone's model SM-G890A and then your IMEI number. To find your IMEI number just enter Download Mode by holding VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER. Once you see the blue/green screen, DON'T click VOLUME UP but instead click the HOME button once. You'll see your IMEI, SERIAL NUMBER and more.
If you still get an error message, paste it in the comments and we'll try to find a resolution
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll appreciate if you share your experience with the new firmware!

Good guy
Thank you.

I did follow all the instruction step by step. After odin say pass, My g890 just say updating, then Erasing and stuck in Samsung Galaxy S6 active logo for ever. Please help me to save my phone

Okay. I hope you've made a backup as suggested in the instructions.
Let's save the phone first. Do a factory reset. You can see how here (first method):
http://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-g890a-galaxy-s6-active/
After the phone is working normally you can try flashing one more time. Make sure you follow the steps to the letter.

I tried without any luck , still stucked at logo S6 active, I can see my recovery is new build ( it pass flash right? ). Any suggestion, I also try to flash back to 5.0.2 via Odin but it say Failed: SW rev check Fail Device: 3 Binari: 1

Hm, did you do a full wipe data factory reset after flashing? Press and hold Volume Up+ Home+Power button, then select the Wipe Data/Factory Reset, to gain a fresh firmware installed.

I did, get into recovery, factory reset then reboot --> stucked. Factory reset, re-flash --> pass --> stucked. I changed from Sony and really have no knowledge about that device.

Okay, run Samsung Smart Switch on your PC and connect the phone to the PC. Some people report that with the program they've managed to recover the phone from Soft brick and complete Android 5.1.1 installation.

My smart switch said "unsupported device" @[email protected]

I'm looking into another possible solution. In the meantime have you tried flashing 5.1.1 again ?

Did it many times, always pass and stuck. Odin also did not let me flash 5.0.2 when always failed. I thought bootloader was locked when I flash 5.1.1

The reason for this error is during the previous flash it upgraded the bootloader to 5.1.1 and now it is refusing to go back to an older version. You cannot flash 5.0.2 bootloader again. You have to stay with Android 5.1.1
I followed the upgrading instructions for both S6 Active phones at home and they're working fine. Maybe the problem is with your firmware file. Sometimes the file may not be correctly downloaded even though no errors are shown during the download process. Can you try re-download the firmware (use the new link from Mega.nz, it's much faster) and flash it again. Also make sure you select the firmware file in Odin under the AP button.
Let me know what happens. If this doesn't work you can use the XDA Assist forum to ask for more help. There are much more experienced people there which can help.

Thanks the second option worked ,only problem I had was caused by the battery being at 60% ,once I charged the phone Odin worked great.

The latest firmware: Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (G890AATT3BOJE - 31.10.2015).
Next version: Android Marshmallow 6.0 (Confirmed! Expected Q1 2016)
Many are struggling with the firmware update process because they are outside the US and/or without an ATT account. There are two ways to update your S6 Active:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTION 1: Using Samsung's Smart Switch program
(It works for some users but оthers say the program is not showing the latest firmware)
This process may take a few minutes.
5.) Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
-> If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
6.) Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.
7.) Click OK to proceed.
Your device may turn off and on a few times during the update process. After the update is complete, your data are preserved, but if you stop the installation by removing the battery, turning off the device, or unplugging the USB cable, your device may not work normally. To avoid data loss, we recommend you back up your important data before you begin the update.
You cannot downgrade the software after the update has been completed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OPTION 2: Download the latest firmware and flash it with Odin
(It should work for everybody. Credit to: Androidromupdate.com)
--------------
1.) Download the latest Odin version.
2.) Download the latest firmware (5.1.1) here:
-> Mega.nz (Faster download speed. Choose "Download through your browser".)
-> Rapidgator.net
-> Alfafile.net
-> If know other DL links, please share!
• Make sure that your Galaxy S6 Active battery is fully charged to ensure stability and to get rid pf power failure issues while updating.
• Prepare a PC, this will not work on Mac.
• Enable USB debugging mode if you are having issues connecting your device to the computer try to enable the this option. In your Samsung Galaxy S6 Active go to Settings >> About device >> then look for the firmware “Build number” and then tap that build number for around 7-times. Then hit back to Settings > Developer option > Enable USB.
• TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock – Got Settings > Security > Reactivation Lock and then uncheck the Turn Reactivation lock on. This is only needed if you already turned-it-ON, from which you cannot modify the system when it’s turned-ON.
5.) Run Odin flasher program. DO NOT touch the default options such as check-marked boxes “Auto-Reboot” and “F-Reset Time” while leaving the “Re-Partition” unchecked.
6.) Reboot the Galaxy S6 Active into Download Mode: Turn it Off first. Then press and hold the Volume Down, HOME and Power ON button at the same time). You will then presented into a “Warning Message” screen, just press the Volume Up to continue. Once the Android robot and a “Downloading” message appears.
7.) Connect the USB data cable from Phone to PC. The ID:COM box will turn to a bluish color when the phone is properly connected and recognized with Odin.
8.) Load the stock firmware. Just click on the AP button then select and load the single NC2 stock firmware packed:
AP: ‘G890AUCU3BOJE_G890AATT3BOJE_G890AUCU3BOJE_HOME.tar.md5′.
9.) Lastly, tick the ‘START’ button when all is set and ready to begin flashing.
Do not disconnect nor do anything when the phone is already in flash mode. You’ll messed up the phone if you accidentally interfere the installation. Wait until a word “PASS” appears on the left side of the Odin screen, it is an indication that the installation successfully completes. (If you get failed errors, check the USB connection condition, repeat the whole process)
Wait until the phone completely reboots, then unplug it from PC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll all appreciate if you share your experience with the new firmware!
UPDATE: Dec 03, 2015
Option 1 did not work for me. The program showed me 5.0.2 as current/final version.
Option 2 worked like a charm. I've downloaded Odin and the 5.1.1 firmware. Followed the instructions above and flashed it like a boss 5.1.1 is working great on both S6A phones! Screenshots attached.

OPTION 3: Take It To A Best Buy Store
If your local Best Buy has a Samsung Experience Shop, they can update your firmware for you. Downloading the firmware takes the longest. They'll start the firmware download for you, you can leave for a an hour or two, come back, and the actual update will take less than 10 minutes. It might be good etiquette to actually leave while the firmware is downloading. (Not every Samsung rep will enjoy "talking shop" with you.) But if you're lucky someone with an S6 Active will have visited them before, and you can get straight to updating.
My Nexus 5 is already on 6.0.1, while my Nexus 6 is still on 5.1.1. Seriously, screw AT&T. As soon as the Marshmallow update is released by Samsung (I hope they jump straight to 6.0.1) I'm heading straight to Best Buy.
Credit for this method belongs to some one on some Android forum. So thanks!

So your option is for people who can download the new firmware but don't want to wait?

[HOWTO] Update your Galaxy S7 Edge firmware to Android Nougat

If you have a regular S7, you have to use this thread.
First of all, the credits of the second option from the tutorial below goes to @lirex, he is the one who created this tutorial in the S6 Active forum, I only edited it for the S7 Edge. Also, thank you @kcodya for providing the update servers URL of the S7 Edge. This is only for the AT&T model of the S7 Edge, not for international or other models, don't try it cause you might brick your phone! This update hasn't been tested yet, so if you don't like bugs or if your phone is important for work, don't update to an unreleased version, as there may be some bugs in it, which can cause sudden reboots or battery drains.
Second, English is not my native language. So if I made a mistake, please let me know.
Keep in mind you are updating your phone to an unreleased build. I can't say whether it's stable or not, because the update file has just been found. New update files will be released every now and then, but it is not possible to update from an unreleased build to another unreleased build. Once you're on Nougat and another update appears online, you have to flash back to PI2 and update it again.
If the update or sideload ends up failing, flashing the stock firmware with Odin will resolve this. But just be sure to follow all the instructions, AND ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR PHONE. Your phone will factory reset after the update.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: Flashing WILL WIPE EVERYTHING SO BACKUP FIRST. (I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong, but this worked for everybody so far). You can use this regardless of your firmware version. Just make sure to sideload the proper file for your current firmware!
Prerequisites: Before you proceed prepare these necessary things as follows so you will not screw-up your phone:
• Create a back-up with Smart Switch of all your personal data, like: Contacts, Messages, Applications, Pictures and Videos, so that you will not lost it just in-case something might went wrong after the update.
• Make sure that your Galaxy S7 Edge battery is fully charged to ensure stability and to get rid of power failure issues while updating.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option 1: Flash via "Apply update from SD card".
1.) Download the firmware packages from the official AT&T Update server to your PC:

2.) After you download the right update, right mouse click on it, select "Rename" and add ".zip" at the end of it. Then, put it on the root of the SD card. If you have an empty one, use it, just to prevent the SD card will be formatted too.
3.) Reboot the phone into recovery. Turn it off and wait a minute for it to completely turn off. Hold down Volume Up + Home + Power until you see a little Android guy. It will say Applying System Update or something like that possibly, and just let it do it's thing until a menu comes up.
4.) Select "Apply update from SD card". You can scroll using the volume buttons and select using the power button.
5.) Wait patiently. The firmware files over 1 GB can take over 30-40 minutes. It's okay.
6.) The phone will reboot and will hang at AT&T logo. This can take another 10 minutes, just wait until it's done. Now repeat steps 1 to 5 until you're on the latest firmware (Android Nougat, unreleased version).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Option 2: Flash via "Apply update from ADB".
If the first method somehow doesn't work for you, you can try it using your computer. Prepare a Windows PC, sometimes it doesn't work on a Mac.
1.) Download the firmware packages from the official AT&T Update server to your PC:
To make it easier for everyone, all update files have been uploaded to Google Drive, thanks @siacono.

4.) Make sure you have ADB and the proper drivers installed on your PC:

5.) If you're on firmware v8 and you're going for the Nougat update the update file is called "SS-G935AUCS4APK1-to-U4BQA4-UP". Put it in the ADB folder. You can rename it to anything easy to remember like "FIRMWARE".
6.) In the ADB folder, hold SHIFT + right mouse click and choose "Open command window here". Then type the command "adb sideload FIRMWARE" (where FIRMWARE is how you named your file). If you have any problems check the Troubleshooting Tutorial at the end of the post.

I think the most current one. I also found the PL1, PL4, PL5, PLP, QA1 and some others, but they are all older, so I think this is the most stable and up to date version at the moment.
i have the flat AT&T S7(completely stock, no root), how would i find out the update server url's?
The V8 link is not working.

If you're still on PI2 and havent updated to PK1, then use v7, if you're on PK1, use v8. I doubt one is more stable than the other

If you can follow the instruction in this post and give me the update servers URL, I can search for the Nougat update.
If I'm on APG1 do I need to download v4-v8 and update each one step by step? Or can I wait until the newest one is hosted and update without the computer?

Look at the last post I posted, if anyone can give me that URL, I can give you the Nougat update links for the G930A.

You can't update to BQA4 straight from APG1, so yes you have to do the updates one by one.

You have to use a download manager, it's written under step 2.

I have the same question.. If I'm on APK1, can I just download the last v8 file?
Once the official release of 7 comes out will we be able to upgrade from this unreleased version to the production version using At&t servers directly on the phone
This news must mean we are close to the official OTA release!!!!:highfive:

Yes, you just have to make sure your baseband is the same as the one before the "to". If it isn't, you have to update it until it is. The baseband versions must mach, otherwise you may brick your phone.

No you won't, those versions are still in development and are not meant for daily use, so if you want to upgrade, you first have to flash back to stock with Odin.

I can't say that, in February 2016 there already was an unreleased build for the S6 Active, but the OTA was released in July 2016, so maybe it will take another 5 months from now.

[guide] Update Nougat Flashing Method P9 Lite

UPDATE TO THE MOST RECENT VERSIONS NUGAT
FLASHING METHOD
HTML:
- An advert! The Flash phone can have bricks. I'm not responsible for that:p:p.
- If you are not sure, do not make any changes and you can leave this forum:confused::confused:.
- This method uses a modified stock recovery that does not verify the files.
- It serves to update firmware, as well as update, but not to do Downgrade MM.
- also serves to perform rebrand changing cust.
- make copies of data and applications.
- I will not explain how to unlock the bootloader and install twrp, there are many tutorials.
- with this method the bootloader will be blocked again.
EXPERIENCE
- my compilation was VNS-L23C605B342 and update to VNS-L23C605B385 (demo video)
- being in VNS-L23C25B I changed from cust REBRAND, to compilation VNS-L23C605B385 (demo video)
REQUIREMENTS:
- activate OEM unlocking from developer options.
- Unlock the bootloader.
- install recovery twrp P9 lite nougat
- download the firmware finder.exe to download the updates
- download the firmware of your compilation and / or rebrand compilation
- Download the HWOTA file and unzip.
- minimum battery of 50%
PROCESS.
FLASH UPDATE
- unzip the file HWOTA.zip
- download the firmware of your compilation (settings / about the phone)
- the firmware is three files in the update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip and update_full_XX-LXX_hw_xx
- the latter "update_full_XX-LXX_hw_xx" there are usually several L21, L01, etc. just download one and it will depend on the cell model.
- If there are not three, it does not work.
- Rename the firmware as follows : update.zip, update_data_public.zip, update_all_hw.zip
- copy and paste the renamed files into the "HWOTA" directory.
- the HWOTA folder, copy and paste in the external memory.
- turn off the cell phone and boot in recovery twrp.
- change to external memory.
- find the HWOTA folder and flash the OTA_catuva21.zip file
- the cell phone will automatically restart
- and start updating let it finish
- if for some reason it remains on the black screen, or sticks to the huawei logo
- perform hard reset (press the volume more and power, and perform both wipes)
- CONGRATULATIONS UPDATE YOUR ANDROID.
REBRAND
- unzip the file HWOTA.zip
- download the "VNS-L...C...oeminfo.zip" (it's a flasheable file)
- download the firmware, this depends on the brand you want to change "VNS-L...C...oeminfo.zip"
- rename updates: follow steps 3 to 8 of FLASH UPDATE
- Create a folder in the external memory and paste the "VNS-L...C...oeminfo.zip" of your selection.
- turn off the cell phone and boot in recovery twrp.
- change to external memory.
- search the folder oeminfo and flash "VNS-L...C...oeminfo.zip"
- DANGER DANGER:crying::crying:
- when finished flashing DO NOT REALIZE REBOOT SYSTEM
- return to the main screen.
- select reebot.
- select bootloader and automatically restart in fastboot mode.
- and as you will see the bootloader is blocked.
- unlock the bootloader with your code (if it is in red, just unlock)
- once unlocked it will boot in recovery twrp.
- search the HWOTA folder
- find the HWOTA folder and flash the OTA_catuva21.zip file
- the cell phone will automatically restart
- and start updating let it finish
- if for some reason it remains on the black screen, or sticks to the huawei logo
- perform a hard reset (press the volume more and power until the wipes menu appears)
- CONGRATULATIONS UPDATE YOUR ANDROID .

[ROM][11.0_r68]JAGUAR ONEPLUS 8 PRO OFFICIAL V33 Updated June 6, 2023

TELEGRAM CHANNEL ADDED: HERE
TELEGRAM CHAT GROUP: HERE
See important discussion about Kernel Updates and Security: here
Jaguar is available on locked bootloader with working root (Magisk)
SAFETY NET IS SUCCESSFULLY PASSED WITH MAGISK 24.3 and up. See instructions here
You can actually use alarm when the phone is shut down. It would boot 2 minutes prior to scheduled time and trigger the alarm on time
This is official Jaguar Rom.
I have been building Android roms since 2012 for various devices including multiple Sonys, Lenovo Zuk, Oneplus 3, Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 6. You can check my Oneplus 6 or Oneplus 6T threads and browse my profile.
Jaguar rom is focused on hardening of AndroidOS and kernel. As such, the rom has hardened bionic, art, framework and tightened security.
1 Rom control with custom Power options, Statusbar, Buttons, Navbar, Quicksettings, Lockscreen, Notifications, Gestures, Themes etc...
2. Heavily modified Art, Bionic System/Vold and System/Security
3. Telephony response to Type Zero sms ('silently acknowledged') disabled
4. Toggle to disable Captive Portal logging.
5. Speakerphone proximity sensor toggle - could be set to automatically switch to speaker when not at the ear
6. IMEI and phone numbers hidden in About menu
7. Built-in encrypted DNS providers, such as: Cloudflare (US); LibreDns (Germany); AdguardDns (Cyprus); and PowerDns (Netherlands)
8. Wakelock and Alarmblocker
9. Fully working Call recording with the button visible in Dialer
10. A choice between the latest Bromite and Vanadium webview
11. Deskclock app modified to work with PowerOn alarm. The app will boot the phone 2 minutes before scheduled time to trigger the alarm on time
12. Default Dark mode
13. All regular customizations plus. You tell me which feature is missing.
Install instructions
If this is your first time coming from stock, you need to have stock Android 11 in both slots. So, either update stock OTA to populate the second slot or flash stock rom with TWRP.
1. Install Jaguar recovery from (from post #3) via fastboot: reboot in fastboot and execute the following commands on your connected PC terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img
Or use TWRP
2. Download the rom to your PC. Boot the phone into recovery, set recovery for sideloading, then type on your PC terminal (which should be opened in the same directory where you had downloaded the rom):
Code:
adb sideload 'name of the rom'
3. Factory reset and reboot. You are done. If you want root, just install Magisk manager (apk)
Download rom from post #3
All subsequent release will be in post #3.

Based On: AOSP/Lineage/DirtyUnicorn/Crdroid
Version Information
Status: Stable
Current Stable Version: See post #3

The rom could be used on locked bootloader with ROOT (donate feature) with or without Gapps.
The benefits of LOCKED BOOTLOADER combined with WORKING AVB-2 protection are:
You get your DRM L1 back (one full stock update required). Many banking applications (tested several) will work even if Magisk is not hidden: you simply get a warning, your device is rooted, but can click 'don't show again' and proceed to login.
Nobody and nothing can modify Kernel, Recovery and Virtual Partitions without triggering a red screen of death with the message 'your device is corrupted and cannot boot'.
At that point, the only option is to unlock bootloader. But, if a user had previously disabled OEM unlock in Developer settings, then unlocking becomes unavailable, and so does flashing via fastboot. In other words, if your phone gets into the hands of an adversary, their only option is to use MSM tool to make the phone work again, but no access to your data or any other partition.
See some screenshorts:
If downloading from XDA, always use your browser in private mode
For Indian Users Only: If you don't have 5G, that means that you have an older handset and Indian carriers didn't provide their modem configuration to Oneplus in time. In this case, use QPST method which has been confirmed working

April 11 New release V-19, previous one removed. Should fix graphic glitch related to recovery.
Actually, you can use any recovery you want: TWRP/Lineage or whatever. Just keep in mind that if you don't have OOS-11 firmware in both slots, you will always get problems. MSM flash takes care of one slot only. So, you need OOS-11 in the other slot either by flashing via recovery (after initial reboot) or updating OTA.
Also, you don't need MSM, if you can't boot into recovery. You simply boot in fastboot and flash whatever recovery you want.
This release fixes Safetynet issues. Confirmed by a Oneplus 8 user: here

Jaguar is available on locked bootloader with working root (Magisk)
VERSION 19 FIXES SAFETYNET ISSUES WHEN USING MAGISK 24.3
See complete instructions Here
You can actually use alarm when the phone is shut down. It would boot 2 minutes prior to scheduled time and trigger the alarm on time
This is official build of Jaguar Rom.
I have been building Android roms since 2012 for various devices including multiple Sonys, Lenovo Zuk, Oneplus 3, Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 6. You can check my Oneplus 6 or Oneplus 6T or Oneplus 8 threads and browse my profile.
14. Prebuilt Magisk. You don't have to flash it, just install the attached Magisk.apk.
Install instructions:
If this is your first time coming from stock to a custom rom, you MUST have Android 11 stock in both slots. So, either have a few stock updates over the air (to populate the second slot) or flash stock rom with TWRP. Downgrade, if necessary.
1. Install Jaguar recovery via fastboot: reboot in fastboot and execute the following commands on your connected PC terminal:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
fastboot flash recovery_b recovery img
2. Download the rom on your PC. Boot the phone into recovery, set recovery for sideloading, then type on your PC terminal (which should be opened in the same directory where you had downloaded the rom):
Code:
adb sideload 'name of the rom'
3. Factory reset and reboot. You are done. If you want root, DO NOT FLASH MAGISK ZIP, just install Magisk manager (apk) as a normal app.

The rom could be used on locked bootloader with ROOT (donate feature) with or without Gapps.
The benefits of LOCKED BOOTLOADER combined with WORKING AVB-2 protection are:
Get back your DRM L1 certificate. Most banking apps will work regardless of Magisk.
Security: Nobody and nothing can modify Kernel, Recovery and Virtual Partitions without triggering a red screen of death with the message 'your device is corrupted and cannot boot'.
Why prebuilt Magisk? Because you can't modify kernel or recovery on locked bootloader post installation, and that's exactly what Magisk does.
See attached som screenshots:
If downloading from XDA, always use your browser in private mode
For Indian Users Only: If you don't have 5G, that means that you have an older handset and Indian carriers didn't provide their modem configuration to Oneplus in time. In this case, use QPST method which has been confirmed working

Everything works fine. You just need to toggle back and forth navbar in Settings/RomContro/Navigation bar. As far as the rest, you can switch to 2, 3 buttons or Gesture navigation.
Also, it would make sense to search for settings first. For example, type 'Gestures' in Settings/Search, and you'll get about 10 different settings.
You can do edge gestures. You can pick out of variety of actions to assign to edge gestures including 'kill app' etc.
That's what i've done,
Flash twice, whithout gapps, and with open gapps,
Try to enable 3 gestures, navigation bar, switch, reboot,
Nothing to do, will try again later,
Thx.

I just checked on my Oneplus 8: everything switches fine without reboot. Also, my Kebab tester didn't mention he couldn't switch between buttons and gestures.

Actually, this is what the tester initially said:
Also, with gesture nav enabled, occasionally the go home (swipe up from gesture nav pill) stops working. The swipe from edge to go back will work still, but swiping up to try to go home doesn't do anything. No haptic feedback, no anything.
Click to collapse
However, when I told him about additional settings that he can configure even the sensitivity of edge gestures separately on the left and right, and enable haptic feedback, everything became normal. So, clearly he could switch between gestures and buttons.
Did you do factory reset aftery initial flashing? You also need factory reset after installing Gapps for the first time.
I usually factory reset before flashing,
Will come back on this rom on thursday, maybe tomorow in the evening.
pls. add single tap feature (oneplus settings), rom is very smooth, i like it

Ok couple quick questions.
With locking the bootloader magisk will still work as usual?
Which webview alt do you recommend? And why? (Haven't heard of the vanadium until now and quick look makes it seem like might not have some functionality outside of graphene os)

Yes. Magisk is already in kernel. You just need to install Magisk manager as a normal app, and you have root. So, there is no need to flash it. In fact, if you flash Magisk on locked bootloader, you won't boot.
Just because Graphene's developer says no use outside of Graphene doesn't make it so. I have no Googleplay on my phone and use Vanadium on Jaguar with zero issues. But Vanadium is known for blocking some Google servers, which breaks account registration. So, for users who want Gapps etc, it's Bromite, which is enabled by default.

The reason there is no single tap is to prevent false positive screen wake-ups, when the phone is in your pocket or from other accidental touches.

I have no Googleplay on my phone andI use Vanadium on Jaguar with zero issues. But Vanadium is known for blocking some Google servers, which breaks account registration. So, for users who want Gapps etc, it's Bromite, which is enabled by default.

Thank you, that is exactly info i need. I won't install this till weekend when i have more time to tinker. But I'm assuming there is way to do the donation and activate the features in the rom?

But of course: either PM or there is a clickable option in Settings/System.
How do you install gapps with your rom? I keep getting not enough space errors when I try.
Using TWRP, then adb sideload from recovery.

As I said in another Oneplus 8 thread, the whole rom is optimized for performance, not size. It is also heavily deodexed for the same purpose. If a normal system app has 20mb, deodexed, when odexed, it will grow into 60mb. So, it is possible that System partition doesn't have enough space.
A release with reworked partition sizes is coming. For now use PICO Gapps. After installation, you can add items you like from Playstore, which will go to Data partition that has plenty of space.
Can't wait to try this ROM.
All the extra hardening and security are a important and unique feature .
I have noticed on the screenshots at displays relock bootloader, how does that exactly work? A script ? run the fastboot commands needed to lock the bootloader?
Thanks for the release
