[App] Working Google Dialer - X Play Themes and Apps

Thanks to @Spasticdroid, if you're looking to install the stock Google Dialer app which has native web contact and business searches, you can do so easily on your Moto X Play.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3210955
Thought i would cross-post this here since i just confirmed this works on the stock Moto X Play 5.1.1 ROM, provided you're rooted and have custom recovery installed. Hope that's OK.

Google Dialer on VZW Moto X

Has anyone tried installing the dialer for lollipop on the Verizon Moto X? I'm definitely missing the business search in the app and the updated material icon...
Also interested in this, I have the pure edition, any info on how to would be helpful! The apk wont install so i assume theres some root requirements, such as placing the apk in system apps then moving some libraries?
There's another thread for this already. Some ppl have it working but u need to be rooted if I remember correctly

[Q] Does Google play allow to install Motorola applications when using Cyanogenmod?

I am hoping to install moto g (2014) with cyanogenmod rom because of some reasons, and I am curious whether the google play allows users to use the applications given by Motorola to be installed inside Cyanogenmod rom.
Thank you

unfortunately no ..
I'm not running a Cyanogenmod rom and don't plan to but I'm wondering if the Motorola apps would sideload if the OP only wanted a few ew of them.

[Q] OTA Lollipop update throws Play Error message on Moto X 2013

My wife's Moto X (2013) on VZW got the OTA to Lollipop last night, but today it keeps throwing an error "Update Google Play Services. Google Play services won't run unless you update Google Play services." If she follows the update link, it takes her to a blank page that has a retry button that doesn't do anything. I had her clear the Play cache and reboot, it re-compiled the apps but the phone still throws the same error message with the same result. She's on non-rooted stock (she doesn't like me messing with her gadgets too much ) so re-flashing is out of the question. I did a bit of research and found some suggestions out there that included attempting to side-load the latest Play services. Is this the best route to take or should I try something else instead? I got the newest Play services APK from Open GApps, so I know its safe, but if there is something else I can do to fix it without messing around with that I'd be a happy man.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
It gave me those errors also, but eventually the error messages went away after a few restarts. I also installed the newest Google Play Services downloaded from APKMirror so I can get Android Pay to work properly.

Was it a Moto X or your MAXX that it gave the error? When I get home tonight I'll try the side load to see if that fixes it.

Moto X DE updated to VZW LP 5.1 yesterday like everyone else. The MAXX is my daily driver and is running Exodus LP 5.1.1, never had the Google Play Services issue with this phone.

Is anyone else having the problem of NOT receiving OTA on DE VZW..
I'm running stock ROM with xposed I don't see why I wouldn't receive
No, it was immediate after I RSD'd back to stock. Was running AOSP 5.1.1 prior. The first was the small update then the 700mb main file. When I say immediate, it was almost as soon as the phone finished booting up. This is a VZW Moto X DE as well, so maybe try a factory reset.

After getting home, I looked at her phone and couldn't replicate the message. So I dug deeper and found that indeed the Play Services had updated itself to the newest release sometime between when she complained about the error and when I got home. So that solves that one. I did, however, side-load the latest Play Store app, for some reason hers was several versions out of date. While I don't doubt her phone would have automatically updated it eventually it did put my mind at ease. Thanks for your input on this one.

Thread hijack aside...it could be that it is being rolled out in waves and you aren't in one of the waves yet. I would try a reboot followed by going to settings > system > system updates > check for system updates.

Bought P10 Plus in China, change to EU version ?

Hello Everyone,
My mom just got back from china and got a present for my birthday.
A p10 plus dual sim 128 gb.
The only problem is there is no google playstore and the HiApp stays in Chinese despite the fact the whole phone is in another language.
Can anyone help me step by step with these issues, please ?
I have a VKY-AL00C00B157, emui 5.1 ANDROID 7.0
Thank you very much.
Ldes.
You should wait for someone to post its google apps or you can reflash it by changing the region.
Until then use a third party marketplace
Hi, from the chinese forum the latest update to P10 seems to include google play store, which is hidden in Add Account section in settings. Maybe you can have a try in that direction?
Hi. I got the standard P10 (not the plus) 128GB dual sim Chinese model (also a birthday present!). I was able to get Google play store running by installing "GMS Installer" from the HiMarket app store included on the phone. After that you can also install Google Play Store from the HiMarket app. I think there must be at least some core google services shipped, laying dormant, in the Chinese ROMs because no rooting or flashing was necessary.
This was good enough to getting most the google related stuff (gmail, youtube, etc.) working. However there is a lot of bloat on the ROM from apps that Huawei includes in the Chinese ROM, and many of the apps (even the HiMarket app) that do not work in English. I couldn't get voice search integration working as Huawei hardcoded that to use their own HiVoice service in (and it only supports Chinese) and notifications didn't seem to be working properly either. Also the HiMarket and Google play store apps step on each others toes a bit in trying to manage updates for your installed apps. It was adequate, but it just felt all a bit tacked on rather than something that was seamlessly integrated.
So in the end I decided to rebrand and reflash the phone with a European ROM using the funky Huawei site. It's a paid service so I can't really say much more but I am sure you can find it easy. It worked well and I am glad I did as the there is far less bloat and crapware, the google integration is better and google assist is the native voice search.
Any ideas for rooting?
Yes, you can simply install Google Play Store in HiMarket. You can find all Google Apps there. If you want to sync your Google contacts, you need to install 联系人同步服务 , just copy and paste these Chinese Characters and search it in HiMarket. After installing it, you need to go to the App settings to grant all the permissions in 联系人同步服务 (Google contact sync). Everything then works fine.

A friend of mine have similar problem, have a china P10 and wants to flash a Hong Kong ROM, is it possible to do this using sites like funkyhuawei.com.
I'm sure the op's also wants to know the same answer.
Reading the forum, members are flashing the L29 rom on a L09 phones to get the dual sim function, isn't this the same.

Huawei phones in China already included Google Framework in it. I am using Honor V8 from China. I just install Google Play Store from HiMarket and it works without any problem.

what is the default search engine, is it baidu or google, to make it simple, can you just flash a non china rom on a phone from china.

Baidu.
You can flash a non-china ROM but not directly.... There are a few procedures required. The device needs to be rebranded and to do that you need to unlock the boot loader and install a custom recovery (TWRP), then overwrite the oeminfo partition. Then you can flash an international ROM. I used the funky Huawei method to do this.

I installed Nova Launcher. I can simply use Google search.
It seems that Mate 9 can do it. I think P10 is the same.

google is not the problem anymore. my problem for china rom is that it cat receive real time app notifications. unless i opened the app first to activate real time notification
Hi, any chance that any VTR-AL00 owner could backup and post its oeminfo partition? (TWRP could do it easy). That is the only partition missing that stock roms do not include but are required to rebrand. AL00 models update faster than European variants (they have newer Nougat and Oreo builds at this point). There is a oeminfo collection thread in the ROM development section, but VTR-AL00 is missing.
Thank you in advance

That's the same as downloading Google camera directly from Playstore I guess?
And, by using the link you posted, it replaces the stock camera that we have? (the stock in the G5 Plus is the moto one, which is quite good actually, don't want to loose it)

It's not the same as downloading; the zip as-is writes to System. I'm not sure if it wipes the Moto Camera. You'd have to check the internal script file to do that.
I pointed out these zip archives as they're a source for the Google Camera app.
EDIT: The installer removes the following:
delete_recursive("/system/app/GoogleCamera","/system/app/Camera2","/system/app/OpenCamera","/system/app/Snap","/system/priv-app/Snap","/system/app/SnapdragonCamera");
