[ZIP] Updated Emoji + Google Keyboard Installer from Android 6.0.1 [12-07-2015] - X Style (Pure) Themes and Apps

Straight to the point, here is a flashable ZIP of the emoji set from Android 6.0.1.
Pulled from Nexus 6P 6.0.1 factory images.
Tested on Moto X Pure Edition running Android 6.0.
This may or may not work on versions prior to 6.0.
Test at your own risk. And it you do, MAKE. A. NANDROID.
What this replaces/updates:
/system/font/NotoColorEmoji.ttf
/system/font/NotoSerif-Bold.ttf
/system/font/NotoSerif-BoldItalic.ttf
/system/font/NotoSerif-Italic.ttf
/system/font/NotoSerif-Regular.ttf
EDIT: Added updated Google Keyboard 4.1.23104.2431559 (arm64) which displays all emoji selections. This was taken from the 6P factory image and de-odexed. This is for ARM64 devices only!
EDIT 2: Added ARM variant of Google Keyboard 4.1.23103.2419427 for devices that are not 64-bit. This was taken from the Nexus 5 (not 5X) factory image and de-odexed.

Works fine on 5.1.1 Is the freaking middle finger a hidden emoji or something, because I can't seem to find it that easy ..

Google Keyboard version 4.1.23104.2431559 or newer is needed to show them all.
OP updated with the needed version. For now I've only come across the ARM64 variant.

Well, maybe we can take the keyboard from n6 or n5 factory images, which are not 64bit? My guess is that it will be a 6.0+ compatible tho :/

Good idea. Minimum requirement for these keyboards are 4.0+ so you're good to go. OP updated.

Ahh you beat me to it

So you have to use Google keyboard to view these emojis?

Another confirmation of it working on 5.1.1. Only works on the Google Keyboard for sending. I can look back at old texts and now see the emojis. I honestly don't care too much about emoji, but my brother and a friend wouldn't stop using them, so thanks for this OP!

Can this be used on an unrooted system?

I know this thread is for Moto Style, but... You know... I tested on Galaxy S5 running 5.0 and Google keyboard doesn't work. The fonts work though.

I'm on the newest CM12.1 nightly for the Samsung Note 2. The emoji work great. The keyboard won't stop crashing. I'll try wiping /system and extracting the .zip and just install the keyboard through APK. I'll report back soon.

Pure awesomeness!! Thank you so much for this!! ?? mean that kindly lol

So now all I need to do is wait for Twitter emojis/emoji one to update so I can have nice looking versions of android apps

So twimoji got an update today to support all the new emojis now all we have to do is get that made into a font file to flash that

I'm using a Note 2 also, running a lollipop 5.1.1 rom, and I also get repeated force closes. Someone on this thread has a Note 2 and the AOSP 6.0.1 keyboard they're using crashes for him and me as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/aosp-keyboard-android-6-0-1-r3-t3266333/page2
I wonder what it is about the Note 2? We're all running different roms but the common element is the Note 2 device itself.

The weird thing is this:
I've been using the modded Google keyboard from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/mod-google-keyboard-updated-ios-9-1-t3232213
I uninstall it and then install these new Marshmallow keyboards (this one and 2 others that have come out around the same time). All result in keyboard crashes.
Here's the weird part: I remove the crashing keyboards and reboot. Verify it's gone, no longer in system/app, not in the manage apps list. When I try to reinstall my original keyboard apk it asks if I want to install an update to the existing app, which is weird because the app no longer exists! Clicking on install eventually results in the not very helpful "App not installed" message. Attempting to reinstall the apk using terminal emulator gave a little more info "Invalid URI". I assume restoring my nandroid backup would sort everything out but I can get my old keyboard back by copying a copy of it's installed folder (which I had saved) back into data/app (I never installed it as a system app), manually reset permissions of the files and subfolders and change owner to 1000 - System and reboot.
I have no idea what part of the system thinks the new keyboard is still installed.

Thanks for this. Working fine on my S6

So if I'm on stock MM MXP , do I flash both keyboard and emoji set?

Flash the font if you want to see the new emoji set instead of blank or crossed out boxes when someone uses them.
Flash the keyboard if you want to use the new emoji set (You'll also need to flash the font zip to use them.)

I'm not sure how the layout on those devices are for system apps, but on Nexus and Moto X Style and Pure it's as follows
Code:
/system
--/app
---/GoogleKeyboard
----GoogleKeyboard.apk
-----/lib
------/arm (or arm64)
-------libraryfile1.so
-------libraryfile2.so
You guys might have to move the library files from "/system/app/GoogleKeyboard/lib or lib64/arm or arm64" to "/system/lib or lib64" depending on your device's architecture.

My existing keyboard has the same structure you show above. There is no lib folder in my /system. This package uses the name LatinImeGoogle, same as my existing google keyboard. I just found an empty folder called LatinImeGoogle in data/lib-app. I wonder if that's causing any of my strange behavior.

This is my new Blackish Layers Theme, aimed to be simple and clean dark theme while still retaining material look. Do not Flash this in recovery or try to install the apks like a normal apk. You have to have a compatible ROM with layers support and be rooted. You also will need the bitsyko installer app on the play store for my installer to work correctly. Everything else you need to know is in the play store description Is still a work in progress so please report any issues or requests you may have in this thread.

Blackish Theme
Looks pretty damn good! I am giving it a try! Thanks
Oh cool! You made a forum thread here, I actually brought up your theme in my ROM thread as I found the theme to be one of the cleanest themes out there.
There is a bug with multiple notifications making the Gmail subject names on notifications are black.
This theme is in my rotation now. I see the issue zephik pointed out. Thanks for sharing your work.
Yea I found a fix for gmail this morning I will have the theme updated tonight with fixes for gmail notifications and inbox notifications, thanks for reporting.

You guys aren't supposed to flash it in twrp. Your rom must have rro / layers support. Google about it.

In several threads I see posts and questions about dark themes. Including me.
I did some trial and error on my Nexus 6 with stock ROM Lollipop, rooted and TWRP.
Installed the Layer Manager of BitsSyko from the play store, created a folder on the internal memory and downloaded some layer apps
Then I installed with the help of the nice Layer Manager a dark layer Settings_BlackTeal_v1.apk and reboot.
Nothing changed, no dark settings on my Nexus 6. But I could change the background of the BitsSyko Layer Manager.
Second trial.
I installed two other layers: Framework_BlackTeal_v1.apk and SystemUI_BlackTeal_v1.apk. and reboot.
Now my Nexus 6 showed the colored bubbles and did not boot (boot loop).
Had to force a boot in Recovery mode and restore the back up with TWRP.
Conclusion
Installing a single layer app did not work on my Nexus 6 with stock Lollipop.
Installing more layers causes a boot loop.
When you want to try layers, make a full-backup first.
You probably need to flash another ROM than stock when using layers. (Available: Chroma ROM).
I think this trial and error could be helpfull for others looking for dark themes.
It would be appreciated when someone explains the meaning of that three characters 'RRO'.

Great work Gmax!
I'm sorry, maybe I'm a dope. I just can't get this installed. I've tried the last two versions. Here is what I've done :
Download the apk
Install the apk
Open layers app
Select layer to install - I select the blackish v2.3
Install layers/preview
Layers app does not show me a preview but tells me it has been Installed
Reboot
Upon reboot nothing takes effect. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong?

Official CM-12.1 for Nexus Player (fugu)

This is for discussion of the official nightly builds of CyanogenMod 12.1.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash this rom. Please see https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images for information on unlocking your bootloader and restoring back to factory firmware.
You must have a custom recovery in order to install this rom. Please see this thread for more information. cm-recovery-nexus-player-fugu
You can either put this on your nexus player internal storage or use adb sideload to install.
This is a hybrid rom. Once you finish setup you will see a popup to choose your launcher. Choose "Home" if you want the default leanback ui, or choose Trebuchet if you want the full android launcher and settings.
Note:
The Nexus Remote if fully supported. If you use the LeanBack gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically at first boot. If you choose to not use gapps or use other gapps, just press the bottom button to initiate pairing.

I have included Google+, Gmail, YouTube, Hangouts, and Search as they don't show up in the market currently.
Modified the updater script to enable the navigation bar and set the default density to 240. Patch is still pending to enable the status bar, so currently there is no status bar even with full gapps.

Yes sir, if you use the leanback gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically, if you don't use gapps or you try other full gapps (make sure they don't have maps), then just push the bottom button to initiate pairing.
It runs good, fast and smooth. As you mentioned mic is not working. Another issue so far, when you uninstall an apps it doesn't remove/uninstall. Thanks for your great work. Nice to see someone is working on nexusplayer.

I noticed the uninstall failure last night too. I'll try to logact and see what's wrong.
EDIT: Uploading a new gapps package had to remove the CanvasPackageInstaller.apk and just let the regular PackageInstaller take care of it
Hello, thanks for building this and the recovery. I dirty flashed this over stock and it's working good , it seems snappier than stock . Live TV through kodi plays better now , it wasn't very watchable before, even the HDhomerun view app plays the video better .. Thanks..
Hello, your cm20150420 build will not install , I get , signature verification failed . so I reflashed your build from 0419 and new gapps to fix the apps not uninstalling problem. Thanks..
I got that as well figured it was my fault... Is there a link to the older build?
Hey @dhacker29 !
I'd like to thank you for this, and at the same time ask if we had access to LeanBack App source, or if you are adding them in post-build?
Also, would you at all be interested in taking a look at creating something similar to this for the ADT-1? (The developer box that Google sent out after IO in 2014). We have ADT-1 kernel source, & a repacked CWM Recovery, but no device tree, which makes Custom ROMs fairly hard to do.

Unfortunately Google shipped the leanback launcher as a prebuilt in the proprietary blobs package so no source to modify there. Without having the adt-1 it would be hard to build a device tree. What are the specs? Processor graphics chip etc

That sucks.
Spec list here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2jlz3z/the_developer_adt1_vs_the_nexus_player_vs_amazon/
Note: they say that some have the Tegra K1, but I've had a few, and friends have a few, and I have only seen Tegra 4's.
I had previously heard of extracting a device tree from a boot IMG I don't know if that still applies, I'll try to find a link.
Its pretty awesome actually compared to the NP. If you want one, jut Google it, and fill out the ADT request form. When they ask what you will do with it, just fill I'm something like "security research/app developement", and with your history, you are bound to get one. I have links to self made CWM images, but I doubt they'd help you much. I can also provide system dumps, etc. Just let me know if your interested.

So far I installed and used the full gapps package. I found no status bar or navigation bar, and the cursor has a black box at times. Runs good though, remote to, except for voice. Using trebuchet to play with it. Are you planning on adding status bar and navigation in or do you advise using the leanback launcher? I liked using my mouse to navigate while i was on lollirock, but can't because of this and can't go backwards from most screens.

The statusbar should be present if you used the full android gapps. Also, if you want soft keys, add this to your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Then reboot.

Android N Preview 4 Fonts (Including new Emoji) as CM13 Theme (No root required)

This theme allows you to have the fonts from the Android N Preview 3 including the emoji! As long as you are using the newest Google keyboard you should be able to both see and send all the new emoji including long holding on the people to change their skin tone. I will do my best to keep this updated when there are new emoji added if it's possible for me to do so. This will only work with Cyanogen OS 13 or later or a rom that supports the Cyanogen Theme Engine. Feel free to try it on older versions but people have told me it doesn't work for them. This will work on stock locked devices that have Cyanogen OS 13 or later on them no root is required to use it on those devices.

Git for the original Theme project I used (includes compile instructions): Cyanogen Theme Template Source
Change Log:
7/3/2016: Updated to Android N Preview 4.
6/10/2016 - Updated to use the fonts from the Android N Preview 3. Note: I'm not actually sure if anything changed with this but I wanted to do it anyways just in case. If you're using the Google Keyboard as far as I know you can send almost all the new emoji as they are listed please feel free to tell me which ones are missing from they keyboard if I am wrong.
All credit goes to whoever made the theme template and Google for the fonts.
Bugs: For some reason a few of the emoji are displayed as their black and white versions some of which are duplicates I'm not really sure what causes this and since I'm not actually modifying anything on the system I have no way to correct it. These include but are not limited to the writing hand, pointing up finger with thumb in, hard hat man (duplicate), skull (duplicate), Umbrella without rain, thunderstorm cloud, umbrella on beach, snowman with snow, meteor, skier, basketball guy, random box, letter (duplicate), short pencil, pen tip, a few others I'm too lazy to list but that no one cares about.
Missing Emoji: For some reason the shaking hands emoji seems to be missing. There could be more if there are post them in this thread and I'll add them to the list.
Old Post text:
So this is the second time that Google has updated the color emoji font on Android recently and I was wondering if there is a way to create a theme that simply replaces the color emoji font with the new one so that you can have the new emoji on the device and view them without having to actually flash anything or even be rooted (since themes work on both CyanogenMod and Cyanogen OS devices without root). Someone posted this flashable zip here however, I don't think we really need to actually include all those files unless they were updated to include emoji I think the main emoji font is in NotoColorEmoji you may have to edit the fallback files or something but I'm not sure. I know that other people have replaced some fonts before but I'm not sure if it works with the color emoji font I would think that it would, however. In addition to the standard updated Google Emoji you could create custom emoji packages (ios or whatever you wanted).
After finding a template to create a CM13 theme it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be and I ended up doing it myself I included all the Android N fonts that were in the flashable zip. I have not verified if having different skin tones for emoji works or not I couldn't figure out how to send one with a skin tone to test it. Skin tones work with the latest Google Keyboard installed.
It works in Google keyboard? Because i flashed emojis from N and in Unicode i see emojis but no in keyboard.

Why not read the post and find out, it's in the last two paragraphs.
Does it work on CM12.1?
I updated the links to a better host.

I don't know because I only have Cyanogen OS 13 right now you can install it and set the font and if it works it works if not you can just uninstall it easily. Report back with your results.

Sorry to hear that. You might try finding the template and making your own but even then idk that it'll work or not.

It does not recognizes as a theme.
Temasek 6.0.1 - LG G2
will give it a try
I don't plan on making any more versions of this except to update it to newer emoji so if you want to use it you'll have to be on Cyanogen OS 13 or CM13. This was really just for my own personal use but I thought done others would benefit from it. The source is in the op for those that want to make changes and recompile in Android Studio.

This updated keyboard supports that emoji font theme and the skin tone modifiers. This is an official build which is signed by Google so be sure not to be using one of the modded keyboard. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-keyboard/google-keyboard-5-1-07-122064301-release/

Was able to look through the official Android git and find the updated files for Preview 4's font folder:
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base.git/+/android-n-preview-4/data/fonts/
Direct download to the entire folder (in tar.gz format, so it requires winrar/7zip/etc):
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base.git/+archive/android-n-preview-4/data/fonts.tar.gz
Nice I'll have to look at this when I get time if it's what i need I'll post a new build.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Edit: After downloading that it didn't look like it has all the fonts in it and for sure it didn't have the emoji font I'm it sadly. Although this might mean that the fonts didn't change between builds or they aren't posted I'm not sure how Google's git works.
I updated to preview 4 idk if it's are any different or not however.

Notice:
This ROM is created for Samsung Galaxy Galaxy A5 (SM-A500FU). Obviously it will not work on any other device, or if it does few apps may crash. Boot time may take a lot, 15-20-30 mins :silly:
As you very well may know, Samsung recently launched a beta testing program for the Note users to test the new touchwiz UI called GraceUI. Let's test it on our phones :fingers-crossed: Please do a backup in case something goes wrong or the apps crash. In order to use the script inside the ROM you may need Universal Init.d from the play store
link to the Universal Init.d:
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androguide.universal.init.d&hl=en
What's not working / current issues:
Gallery may crash when you slide to "EVENTS"
new libs cause bootloop
Launcher is a bit buggy
SystemUI doesn't show real volume strings
Trying to change language in settings, makes the app crash
The WiFi can't even be turned on, the system crashes
The Bluetooth doesn't turn off, some times neither on
Random framework reboots
Camera app will Force-Close when you take pics
Most system apps cause bootloop, the system is still unstable and ultra light

Gallery crashes when swiping to the left sometimes (cleared data and still happens)
Can't see smart manager + the new music player
But love the my files
Edit: also can't send any messages with the messaging app but it looks beautiful

yep it is, it's hard but smart manager doesn't want to work lol
smart manager is indeed tricky, i even found a 5.0.2 from S6, ported for 32bit android for Note 3, and still it didnt work. It is one of few apps from samsung that i dont recognise as bloat. I know the one from ALOOSH in the General section works well, but even that one is outdated.
Please check these two threads out: [APP][PORT][ROOT] App S7 for G900F and S7 Apps For Galaxy Note 5,S6 Edge,S6 and Note 4
Usually, any port from Albe95 have resulted successfully for me in many devices. I tested this on an S5, N3 and N4, all worked, chances are it works here as well.
@Bulgar thanks for the thread, much needed, especially for a central solution if we choose to manually make our devices look better (a lack of custom tw roms really hurts).

Are you able to to get to the Google Now panel by swiping right? The way I read the XDA article about this release of the launcher, as long as you are on a Pixel or Nexus device, root is not required (even though I have root) and it is not required to be installed as a system app.
Quote from the XDA article:
"All you have to do is download the Pixel Launcher that we uploaded below and install it onto your device. It doesn’t need to be installed onto the system partition (meaning it doesn’t need root), and if you already have the Pixel Launcher installed then it will just install right on top of it. Enjoy!"
I have tried installing the new launcher over the older one I had installed and doing a clean install of the the new .apk you referenced and the .apk referenced in the XDA article and I cannot get swipe to the right to take me to the Google Now panel. The calendar/weather widget is working fine so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

I think XDA post means that Pixel 2 launcher itself doesn't require root to work, but the google now feature still need root access.

Thanks for your response. Some additional research I did (which I won't bore everyone with for such a small issue) also seems to indicate that Google Now will work with the new Pixel Launcher without it being installed as a system app. If it ends up that it does need to be installed as a System app I'm going to switch back to Launcher3, which lets Google Now work without Launcher3 being installed as a System app, and it has some other nice features.

I saw that earlier, I really don't want to do a bunch of work arounds. If I get no other by the time I wake up tomorrow afternoon I'm going back to launcher3. It worked perfectly for me without modifications and I have it backed up with Titanium Backup so it's just I simple restore to get back to where I was. Thanks.
Seems to work out of the box with version 1.2. No work arounds required

Absolutely, Launcher3 version 2.1 works great but I have seen some decreased battery life using it. I like the new calendar/weather widget and the bottom search bar in the new Pixel launcher from the Pixel 2 so that is why I switched. Both of those work great after I installed the new Pixel launcher and my battery life increased quite dramatically, but I can't get swipe right to access the Google Now panel to work. From the XDA article here, the way I read it is if you have a Pixel or Nexus phone the .apk does not have to be installed as a system app for the Google Now panel to work:
"We should note that the Google Now panel will not work if you install the official version below on a non-Google Nexus or Pixel device as the Pixel Launcher needs to be installed as a system app in order for it to show the Google Now panel"
It indicates the same in the install instructions:
"It doesn’t need to be installed onto the system partition (meaning it doesn’t need root)"
There is a modded version that allows the Google Now panel to work on non Pixel and Nexus devises but I have a Nexus so I don't think I should need to use the modded version:
"Alternatively, you can install this modified version of the Google Pixel Launcher by XDA Senior Member paphonb. His version works on non-Google devices and allows you to use the Google Now panel"
Maybe I am just reading it incorrectly but it reads that the unmodified version will allow swipe right to access the Google Now panel.

I converted it to a system app using Titanium Backup and it doesn't appear to have affected the SafetyNet status. If Launcher3 is updated to include the calendar/weather widget and the bottom search bar I'll probably switch back as I like some of the other features it offers.
I actually just found that there is a Magisk module called "App Systemizer" that would have probably done what you where looking for also.

Wrong times in Now Cards
Hello everyone. The application is installed as a system. Everything works as well, except for the time of the sports cards. Shows my upcoming games with a wrong time zone, not my local time. This happens only on the preview of the football match itself (shows 2:45 PM). When clicking on the card with the additional information, the correct time is displayed (in this case 21:45). See attached images.
Where to search for the problem - in Pixel Launcher, in Google App, or my account? If it matters, I delete the data of both apps and set them up again without success ...
By returning an old version of Pixel Launcher this problem is gone.
What is the best way to get the Pixel bottom Navbar? I see a lot of screenshots with the Pixel Navbar. I'm running Pixel 2 Launcher, rooted.
Highly the final version !!! I prefer to stay for the moment on MOKEE
