Lmao that's true.

when apple releases an update everyone get it. when android get update, it depends on carrier and gotta have an active sim card in it. google and manufacturers please stop bending over.

This sucks.

Well, that fills in the $300 difference not only for the updates but performance and consistency..That's Apple.
I love my S6 but I am not ashamed to admit that Apple Phones are Consistent and that's what makes them Premium over any Android Smart/Windows Smartphones.
PS: Yesterday was devastating...not that it was my Birthday but my non-rooted/untouched S6 thought to f*** it all up with an unexpected Bootloop...lost 27GB worth data and my back up OTG USB stopped working.. :crying: Had to hard reset.. SOB SOB!

Just read an article that said we are getting the update Q2 2016. Fuk.

Yeah, we'll get the update then because we'll also be "updating" the hardware to S7!

Apple releases updates for apple products. Google releses updates for google products. Want to get updates as soon as they come out? - Get a nexus....

God this sucks so much.

My phone still works just fine. Updates aren't important unless something is broken.

Not that MM will likely help, but multitasking and ram management are badly broken on the S6. Running side by side with my $40 off contract moto E, with the same apps open, the moto has fewer app reloads when switching. It has 1GB of RAM. It's running CM13.

Oh. I have a 6 active. No problems here. Would like root more than an update. AoN

News on Updates from LG

I talked with a rep from LG today. Here is what she said in reference to future updates for the Thrill....
"michelle: As far as I can tell you according to what I have here, they are working on those updates. But, there's no ETA, or any information yet. They only state that they are working on it."
So maybe they will give us updates? Any opinions? I am stuck in a contract until April with this phone and I am hating it. I don't want to void the warranty in case I can get it replaced with something else but I can't stand the GB update. I constantly have 8-9 system apps running that can't be killed and it overworks the processor causing overheating issues...my phone gets HOT!
root and install Prometheus. I'm in the same boat, stuck till April. I hated my phone. Went through warranty exchanges in hopes that they would give me a different phone. Probably could have gotten something different had I pushed hard enough with Customer Service but the truth is now I'm loving my phone, rooted with Prometheus installed. Now I'm playing Final Fantasy 3 in 3D. In fact come April I'll be getting 2 iPhone 5's for my wife and dad and I'll stick with this till I find something else I might want.
P.S. even my previous phone was rooted and had custom rom. I simply restored it stock when I did the exchange. Root and Rom couldn't be easier. Check it out.

Any news on 4.4?

I'm assuming no, since I haven't seen anyone talking about it anywhere. I was just curious if anyone had heard anything about an official 4.4 update for our tf701's. I'm sure we'll get one. Who knows when though.

We have only had 4.3 for a little over a month now on this tablet. I doubt we will get it soon but Asus is known to be great with updates. My guess is we will see it around the end of March.
Yeah I reckon another month or 2 and they'll start rolling out. They always seem to do new builds from Feb to April.
My question is..
Will 4.4 be the last update for this device. .

No one knows for sure but a general rule of thumb: each device usually gets about 18 months of updates. Some a little more, some less. The TF701 will most likely get another big OS update after KitKat.

Disgrazia!!!!
what is the itlian sku?
back in dec early jan i was complaining of no jp update.
i mentioned they said no updte was coming and i escalated to manager on issues with device.
anyway they called me back today! lol
like 3 weeks after the update came saying there will be an update for the device late this month.
i asked what version he didn`t know.
then i told him about 5 days after speaking to him i got the 4.3 lol
i don`t think asus know what they are doing. clearly the product manager was made redundant on this device or at least i`d like to think so.
Nvidia released KK for the tegranote. Hopefully this tab is not far off.
I recently had some sort of small update pushed to my TF701. It was not an OS update, clearly, but a firmware update for stability and other stuff. Has anyone else had an update come to their 701? I do have 4.3, which installed as soon as I started using the tablet for the first time.
If I remember correctly an update showed up in settings after doing the first manual update(where you place the zip @ /sdcard)
something tells me that returns and repairs trippled the actual sales number i recon we would be lucky to get an update soon they probably cut all but 1 person who is working on it part time, and moved onto the next product.

Do you honestly believe that? Returns and RMAs are never reported as a sale or considered one in either retail outlets or warehouse fulfillment centers, it's recorded as product loss. There will be an update, and it's likely not going to be too far off.

i think maybe you misunderstood my statement.
I was merely saying that asus got the devices returned so many times that the sales were likely less then the amount of times they got sent in for repair or swapped over.
I idk i think this device is likely doing well. People might be holding off because they don't see a selection of roms. There might have been a rush to get this thing sorted out before Christmas. Idk. Affected the build quality a little. But that was then and this their mainline. Its whats running down the line. So I think quality is what people will get from this point on. Like most new device as was with the xbox,ps4 etc a delay do to quality issues. And then they got sorted. People of course want to see all their favorite roms. So hopefully we see 4.4 soon.

I'm not convinced there is a relationship between sales and number of roms available. Maybe the version of OS supported plays some part? I.e., if this came out with Android 4.4 it would probably sell a lot better.

Understood. But not even a mention for the Infinity Transformer Pad. Supposedly their flagship Tablet. We're pretty much on the back burner. Some of those Padfone releases aren't until the 3rd quarter. Yet they still had a press release
It leaves me to believe, we won't be seeing it until the fall as well . It they would have mentioned in that release, I would feel better about seeing it before the end of the second quarter.

Marshmellow coming in January 2016

It will probably take longer for vzw versions, but at least we know the order it is being released as well as approximate time.

One of my friends received Android 6.0 on his Boost Mobile LG Stylo today. Not bad for a $179 phone!

Google does the update and then sends it to Samsung for testing. IF Samsung decides the update is worthy and fits into their business plan for the life of the phone, they will test the update and correct things that are specific to the S6. IF that is completed then they send the update to Verizon, who in turn, decides if it fits in their business plan and the planned end of life for the product. If Verizon decides to pass it along then they update the code with their specifics and then they release it to the phones.
All of that has to go good before we knaves might see an update.
Unfortunately Android updates and timeline does not fit into the end of life plans for phones by the carriers. That is why we usually only get one or two updates.
Just saw this while searching online tonight.

Don't suppose anyone's heard anything for us VZW guys in terms of getting any updates, have they? About to list my phone on swappa and try to get something else... Yeah it's a catch between the nexus 6 and the turbo 2 if I decide to move away. The turbo 2 in terms of hardware is slightly superior, but unfortunately it seems like it's suffering the same fate as my current phone

Starting to roll out from Samsung. Verizon will likely take forever to send it out though....

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 - 372 MB Update

Just turned on the tablet and update available , Anybody else received it yet ?
Update .. still on 5.0.2 , looks like a few system updates , Build No - T700XXU1BOL1
this tab is an absolute MESS on 5.0.2. it's hands down the laggiest samsung device i've ever used. seeing how 5.1.1 fixed my note 4 drastically, these idiots better hurry their asses and get 5.1.1 to the Tab S already. i don't even care about 6.0..i just want a damn tablet that acts like a $400 piece of hardware rather thna a $50 walmart tablet.

I agree it can be sluggish at times , would have been nice if the update gave the option to completely remove the bloatware they loaded it with too.
Well that's odd, mine won't find the update. I've never had this problem with any of the past updates. I'll keep trying.
I'm very pleased with my tablet after the last update. I sure hope this one is also an improvement. At the very least I hope it doesn't break anything.

I don't see the update either.
I took delivery of a S 8.4 just yesterday and there was a 372mb OTA update out of the box. I was a bit sad to see that the device is still on 5.02 because it isn't the best. My Note4 ran like a dog until 5.1.1 as you all know. A great tablet all round though and I'm hugely pleased as I returned an Nvidia K1 Shield after 4 days due to hilariously poor battery life.

Question No Seemless Updates

So apparently the s21 series doesn't have Seemless Updates! What a joke, phones half the price have it!
Most problems on Samsung phones are caused by updates especially firmware.

I think you're over reacting lol. So no seemless updates, it now takes 20 minutes to update your phone? Is that really a deal breaker? The exynos has been fine this year, and has a moderate reduction in GPU performance. If those are the reasons sure, but not being able to use your phone instantly when updating, is ridiculous reason to cancel your order. But to each their own I suppose.

Right, nothing to be missed here and for rooting purposes A/B slots can only add a lot of pain in the neck.
And for those who lament the lack of microSD and are worried about storage space: you just saved yourself up to 3 GB of internal memory. A/B requires an extra space.
