Need some help with a g3 - SuperSU

I am not all that great with pcs my last one was a Ubuntu or kubuntu box 4 years ago. now I use a windoz 7 of some sort twice a week at my dad's house once in a great while. I had do do an SD card fix. so I used LG one click 6 months later, it popped out I reinstalled and ran it through got a message in su that it had been updated and had to root manually unfortunately this is the first time I've rooted a phone and have no idea what tat means. I assumed I had to run it through again but didn't work. That all being said if there is a quick fix without spending a lot of time installing software beside a one click or a script that has a written tutorial I'd Ike to know. otherwise, if it's not a security risk. I'm fine cause the SD card fix is done I found gnuroot and it's a lot of fun I couldn't use it rooted so that's what I need to know.
Thanks in advance

Need Help with GPS on a xv6900

Hi,
I'm new here-ish, I've lurked quite abit and love this website. I have a verizon xv6900 (vouge) and around december/ january I loaded a android build called "cupcake" after a while it crashed and my sd card went loopy and I had to do a long format to it. Anyway this morning I found the time to load Myn's "Donut" android build and I am super happy with it. So that said I know my way around WinMo and Android, I read somewhere the xv6900 is GPS capable but I can't seem to find anything solid on the matter.
Does anyone know if there is a GPS crack and if so can it work with the "Warm Donut" build I have now?
Thanks,
James

if you are with verizon, getting GPS working is a pain, but do-able. best to find the threads in other parts of this forum to get it working in windows mobile, once you have it working there, it will work in android - even after you flash to nand. easiest way imho.
third time I've posted this link in two weeks... tatnai, is this verizon-specific problem faq worthy?

Follow that guide to a T and you'll be good to go. When GPS doesn't work no matter what, do that. It takes a few hours but it will work if you follow all the steps.

believe so, adding it.
Thanks for the prompt reply guys. I am weary of the coke unlocker as when I used it on my old xv6900 (the one I got the day they came out) it bricked my phone. It booted once after being "unlocked" but had no radio and after a few minutes it crashed and would not boot past the verizon splash screen. I had to find a stock ROM to put on the sd card and even then it only worked once. I had to send it in and get a replacement phone. This one seems to be more cooperative but I'm not messing with the NAND. One bad experience like that is enough to keep me from trying again.
I followed the mentioned post with my xv6900 and GPS works wonderfully now!

(req) help installing ubuntu on windows 7 primium 64bit (solved)

hey i was wondering if someone would help me install ubuntu on my win7 hp laptop now i tried this erlier via the usb method but i almost killed my computer my computer restarted and i got a black screen of death and i went into recovery and it hung on automatic system repair for about 40min and i was about 2min away from doing a full wipe on my computer and starting over luckily it finished and my computer restarted and all is good now. so now im ready for round 2 however i would really like some outside help before i try and tackle this again blindly lol.
so would someone please pm me and ill send u my gtalk info.
thx in advance.
I would imagine ubuntu hasn't changed all that much since I last tried the distro. Plus editing partitions is almost universally the same so I'll help you one of these nights (Mon- Wed) if you don't get help from someone else before hand.
Edit: actually I'm back in my town again, so tonight could possibly work out as well depending on when you're free. (I'm free between ~7-10pm CST then I have some things to take care of)

Walk away man... you almost bricked your hero and with the help of xda members you got it back up. Be grateful. This is the general section. Plus its linux. Which is what you have in your hand. In turn which is a hero... which has....linux.... so yes it has to do with the hero....
Enough sarcasm?
®patience is a virtue©
Good to hear that you got it installed.
JFYI - Ubuntu has an option where it can be installed as a directory within Windows. I have not used that option, but it did come up when I installed it, last time.
yea ubuntu is pretty sweet kind of buggy though im glad i only did a 20gig partition lol
try running arch linux no bugs here

Edit: Which version did you install on your computer? x64 or i386 (32bit)
i installed ubuntu 11.0.4 64 bit the main bugs are wirless tether not working and after looking around in the ubuntu forums its something to do with the wireless drivers on ubuntu

Rooting the Droid 4

I just rooted painlessly using Rick#2's method posted here in the Development forum. It took about 5 minutes, including the download (although I preceeded it with about 6 hours of trepidatious reading).
As a noob on xda, I could merely click the thanks button, but wanted to thank him and let others know that my Verizon phone which got pushed ICS around 3 weeks ago was rooted without a problem.
(The last 5 lines of the windows batch file errored out, but they were completely unnecessary anyways. The first 3 try to delete adb and associated .dlls while they are still in use. The next line misnames the file in the current .zip. The last one seems like a vestige as it references no file.)
I'm having issues on rooting right now. Fails every time, and I don't get root. Ill try the way you did and see what happens for me.
Thanks,
John

[Q] Root 4.4.2

Hi All, newb here, please forgive my question which can probably be answered by searching, but I am having a hard time deciphering a lot of this...
I have a Note 3 that I updated to 4.4.2 yesterday. It has never been rooted.
My biggest gripe is the SD card restrictions - namely the camera unable to save to SD card.
How can I root this phone?
Additionally, if I decide to go ahead with a new ROM, which ones are available and recommended. The 2 things I would like to retain are S-Pen functions and WatchON remote (i have a samsung smart TV and it works beautifully).
Before this I had a SG3 on slimbean, and loved it. When I moved to the Note 3, I was overall very happy and didn't have a desire to root after installing Nova Launcher.
Thanks!

ugh. So i'm stuck with a phone that doesn't save pictures to the SD card?
the same SD card that had an android on the packaging?
Thanks google.
I just upgraded to 4.4 and I'm able to take pictures and they save to my SD with no problem. I went into the setting and I have the choice of saving to the "Device" or "Card".

unfortunately mine won't save to card. It's always been set to "card" but now when i snap a pic, it tells me it can't save to card and it has switched it to device for me.
This is a known issue with 4.4.2 and the only fixes are inserting some new code... which requires root. So I'm wondering how to root.... some say it can be done, other say it can't.....

Sorry to hear that Aceniza. After reading your post, I quickly took a picture, then immediately went to the My Files app, and verified that it saved the pic to my sdcard. I hope your not the only one with this issue.

Here's the weird part -
Last night I pulled the battery and reset... it saved to SD card a few times before giving me the error message.
Today I backed up my SD card and pulled it in preparation of a root that may or may not exist....
Upon reinstalling, it is saving to SD card.
I have it pulled again right now. Trying to root via Kingo, although it's reported not working.
Supposedly Chainfire (firechain? i forget) works, however trips the KNOX detector thing.
Cross your fingers!
Kingo is not supported... Oh well.... was worth a shot

i gave up. called att and requested for a new phone to be warrantied. its a big deal to me not being able to store photos on my sd card directly from the camera.
only downside is they don't know whether the replacement will have JB or kitkat
