how to integrate tasker with watchmaker live wallpaper to change watch face automatic
Hello,
I have a D 7 android smartwatch running on KitKat 4.4, I am using Watchmaker live wallpaper as the watch face. I want to change the watch faces automatically by a time schedule by integrating it with Tasker. Kindly anybody describe me the method in a step by step way that any beginners with tasker will be benefited.
Thanking You
drsaidalavi

I think this is broken in the current build as it only restores the last task/condition in the xml

Does Google Drive Backup option backs up everything too? Or just the settings of Tasker app?

Try putting a copy of your backup.xml file in:
/sdcard/Tasker/configs/user/
as per:
"This will backup everything from your Tasker app. in a xml file located at /sdcard/Tasker/configs/user/"
That's where the app is searching for your backup.xml file. Not in your download folder. ?

Exactly

I needed to reset my phone to factory settings as an attempt to fix some phone issues. I backed up my tasker twice, one as backup.xml and again as backup2.xml just to be safe. After resetting my phone and installing tasker, I restored with backup.xml. None of my profiles or tasks showed up. I restarted the phone and they still weren't there. I tried the same steps with the backup2.xml.
Has anyone had this issue? It took hours to set everything up the first time, I was really counting on the backups.

I find a workaround.

I had same issue, save your backup file in another forder, preferably in microsd, then open Tasker >> data >> restore >> touch in up arrow until you see microsd, and find your file, then restore it.

How to create a link to a NEW SMS message

I have been using a program that allows you quickly to jump to a new SMS message in Messaging. I would like to assign this as an action to a button. Is there a link that can be created that automatically goes into Messaging and creates a new message?
Have you tried a search?
google > HTCActionScreen
I have no idea were I found this, but I have a direct link to 'New SMS'.
Paste this shortcut in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" (or a subfolder if you want)
Go to Settings => Buttons and map your button.
Note: Schap's Advanced Configuration v1.1 installs a folder with a few usefull shortcuts, including 'New SMS'.
Good luck!
Works perfectly. Great tool. Just what the Doctor ordered.

Adding Message Folders?

Can anyone tell me how i could add another folder to store text messages in? I try to save them in the outbox but it just tries to send them to people over and over again...
Thanks
Press the messaging button (the envelope one), select SMS/MMS from the list and you'll be in your Inbox. Next, select Menu | Tools | Manage Folders and you'll see the current list of SMS/MMS folders. Tap and hold on SMS/MMS and the pop-up menu will allow you to create a "New Folder"; this will be a top-level folder - call it whatever you want (Saved Messages, or Archive or Funny Stuff ) and hit OK....your new folder will then be shown in the list. It's not advisable to create sub-folders of existing folders (e.g. sub-folder of Inbox) as it can cause problems with certain messaging backup tools......the decision is yours
Now, when you get a message you want to keep, when you have the message open (or from the Inbox screen), select Menu | Move and then tape on your new folder - the message will be saved to there.
Hope that helps,
Mark.
Thanks... I've been trying forever. You're the best.
Is there a way to do this in WM 6.1?

SMS roblem

Anyone knows how do i add multiple contacts in one go to a particular message
i.e. check recipients names and add them without pressing enter again and again
its really irritating to add 27 recipients
if you are sending to the same group of persons you can try this...
#click on the To: field, click menu (bottom right) and select Add Recipient...
#Contacts will open, select the person by clicking on it. it is added and you are back in the sms compose window. click Menu and add again all the recipients one by one like the steps above.
#once you are done adding all required contacts, click and hold inside the To: field and select Select All. all contacts are selected and highligted.
#click and hold again inside To: field and select Copy
#open Pocket Word or Notes, paste it and save the file.
#next time when you want to send a group message again, open the Word or Notes file we created, copy everything and close the file.
#compose you message, tap and hold inside the To: field and click on Paste. all your contacts should now be added at one go.
you can also try searching for third party contacts manager which allow creating a group and sending a message to that group in one go.
hope that this help.
Thank you very much

[HELP] How do I get the start and end times (values) of current calendar event?

I want to set up an Alarm at the time the current calendar event ends.
Read the wiki and didn't find an in built variable that stores the end time. Only %CALTITLE / %CALDESCR / %CALLOC were there.
Then I stumbled on to Action > test app feature. But can't figure out how to get it to work. I made this little task to test it out
This is what I tried
Get the end time of current calendar event and store in variable %Time
Flash a message of %Time to make sure value was correctly put in the variable
1 Test App > Set Type - Calendar End(Second), Set Data - %TIME, Store in %Time.
2 Alert > Flash > Set Text to %Time
However, The flash message read "%Time" instead of the end time of current calendar entry.
I don't know what Data meant in test app. I assumed it asked for the time at which calendar entries should be fetched. So I put %TIME to fetch the end time of the calendar entry active at current time.
Also this is what's present in the documentation
Calendar tests: require the time in seconds since the epoch as Data (e.g. use %TIMES, or use the Variable Convert action to convert a date/time into seconds first) and are entered in an array (%var1, %var2 etc), not a plain value, because there may be multiple events at the time specified.

Click to collapse
this thread is 2 years old, but I thought I'd share my humble opinion....
theoretically you could test calendar to determine the title of the of the event, make a FOR loop and keep testing it until the event is gone.
Other than that, I'd use apps like Business Calendar, which displays a notification for on going event. Presumably Tasker can detect this.

[TUTORIAL] Email yourself through tasker!

Hi all. There's this one tasker tutorial on how to send yourself emails, but it doesn't work. At least for me. You have to install SL4A and PY4A and all these kinds of stuff from random github links, both apps being old and not providing errors on failure of python scripts.
So I wrote a fresher, shorter python script to mail yourself, and using the tasker plugin QPyPlugin I managed to send myself an email.
REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: QPyPlugin is a paid app, and it's really limited, but it does the job for this case.
Tasker (duh)
QPython3 (or QPython)
QPyPlugin (Paid: 3$)
This python script
Steps
First of all you'll have to edit the script and enter your data instead of the data written. Enter your email, your password, and if you'd like to use another smtp server other than gmail enter it's data.
Make sure the script is located at "qpython/scripts3/" (or "qpython/scripts", depending if you're using QPython3 or QPython). It will stay there.
Let's create the simplest task we can: A greeting email.
1. Create a new task named whatever you'd like
2. Now lets write what we're going to send into a file. The default location is "temp/mailout.conf" and it's changeable inside the script. If you are going to change it make sure you'll be writing to the file you specified in the script instead of "temp/mailout.conf".
Add a "Write File" action. In the File field, enter "temp/mailout.conf". In the text, enter the following:
Code:
To: [email protected]
From: Tasker Greeting Task
Subject: Hello from tasker!
Hello there!
I can use multiple lines, and even tasker variables.
It is now %TIME.
Crazy, right?
That's the syntax for the config file. The first lines can be an field you'd like, but the first line must be To: <address>. After the fields, enter a blank line and after that, type the body.
Make sure "Append" is not selected, so it'd create a new file each time you run it.
3. Now let's run the script. Add a "QPyPlugin" action. Press the configuration button and select which QPython app you have (QPython or QPython3) and the script.
That's it! Try to run the task and check your email.
Ideas / actual usage
Send yourself the weather & the news every morning
E-Mail participants in a calendar event reminding them about it
Email yourself the phone's location when your battery is low (Which is what I use it for)
When someone fails entering the phone twice email yourself the phone's current location
The possibilities are endless!
FAQ
Q: I'm getting a ValueError with something about the first line of the file and I don't know what to do!
A: Really? It says so right there. The first line of the mail file must be "To: <address>".
Q: I'm getting another error!
A:
Make sure you inputted the correct username & password in the script.
If you changed the SMTP server make sure you entered it properly and it's working.
Make sure that the mail file you create matches with the path & name in the python script (defaults to "/temp/mailout.conf").
Q: How do I know you're not going to steal my precious data?!
A: Because you can see so for yourself in the script
