Stuck on DOK2 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay I recently upgraded from ank4 to the dok2 baseband and bootloader so I could install a Rom that required it. I have been trying to Odin back to ank4 or to go to cod6. Everytime it fails to flash. I have tried re-downloading files and check the md5 also using different USB ports with stock USB cable to no avail. Can someone help me out with this issue please

My understanding is that you can't downgrade after going to 5.1.1. Unless I am wrong, you're stuck at 5.1.1

Oh man for real? Do you happen to know why or if there is anyway at all to downgrade... Well this really sucks if that is the case. Thanks

If you don't mind me asking, why do you want to downgrade?
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

Yes it's true, once you update the bootloader that's where you'll stay, it happens.

Well I wanted to go back to the hyperdrive Rom, which runs on Kit Kat 4.4.4 and now it won't let me restore my backup that I had created. It just bootloops.
Well then I guess I'm stuck lol. Thank you for the help everyone. Appreciate it

Battery life and full xposed support are why I stay on 4.4.4 (FireKat ). I have gotten far too used to 6-7hours SOT. 5.0.1 was a mess and 5.1.1 is not downgradeable yet so 4.4.4 for me.

Fwiw, there's no reason verify md5 on Odin if the file your flashing ends with .md5. Odin automatically checks it against the calculated sum when the file was created.

have you found a method to root on the new 5.1.1 update?

I installed the Tekxodus Hybrid urv5 Rom it has a guide to upgrade to 5.1.1 and also to root and install twrp recovery. Check it out. My phone is currently rooted. Nice Rom ain't much to complain about just wanted to go back to Kit Kat.

Root on Lollipop already (Confirmed by 1)

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/com...y_s5_will_get_lollipop_starting_today/cq62ktt
In this comment, is a procedure to get root on ATT S5 Lollipop. I haven't tried it myself, might do it in a few hours. You do need to be rooted beforehand.
I wish I would've know this before I updated
I think that may be rooting it on a SS rom slot, not the actual OS on the phone.
It seems hes just replacing the backup's system partition with the Lollipop one, restoring and wiping, so wouldn't that be the stock slot?
EDIT: Screwed up the quote my bad
It seems the commenter was confused on devices. I was reading the s4 forums and they restore a backup of rooted lollipop, which we don't have. Maybe someone brave can try with rooted 4.4.4 and flash ota over Odin like the post

Don't know how true that one click root method is. We've never had a one click root besides towelroot. I'd also say give it a try and see what happens. If you soft brick it,just flash the Downgrade tar in Odin.

As far as I know, there is no way to root an unrooted OC4. But it has been done to downgrade to root, but not successfully repeated the last I read. It has been said many time for this and prior OTA updates. Don't apply the update until root is confirmed. I like to download the update and upload the .cfg file to help those who work on rooting processes. I think Muniz noted that they advanced the Qfuse in this bootloader so it is near impossible to downgrade in order to root. ( I say near impossible because of the 1 report of a successful downgrade)
I updated from NCE to rooted 5.0. Here is the link. Follow the steps to the T: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3076803

The title of this thread should be "root FOR lollipop" instead of "Root ON Lollipop". There is no root once your phone is ON Lollipop you needed to be rooted beFORe upgrading to Lollipop. Buying the phone new with Lollipop or taking the OTA renders it unrootable.

The download filename is G900AUCU3BOC4_OneClick.zip.
Could you expand your OP page to explain what the file is?
Is it an ODIN flash? Is it an executable like the filename suggests?
Good stuff, it will probably prove useful in the future, but 1.5G download without a description, makes me curious.
OC4 Flashing
Has anyone found luck with flashing G900AUCU3BOC4 with the file in OP? (I downloaded the file and I have the executable open right now but I don't want to take any risks flashing this firmware).

Confirmed Working
Thank you very much for posting this. I had soft-bricked my brand new GS5 not 2 days into owning it trying to downgrade/root without reading anything in the forums. i ended up having to get a replacement but it has not arrived yet and i still have the one that used to be bricked until i downloaded the file, put the phone into ODIN Mode and ran the application. I'm a little mad at myself for not finding this sooner but happy that this exists just in case anything happens like i previously stated.
Thanks this fixed my bricked S5 that I botched the lollipop update on! This should probably be uploaded to a mirror and added to a couple help threads. Sweet man thanks!
Works
Created an account just to post that this file worked. I soft bricked my phone and tried a few roms without luck before finding this one. Threw my phone into Recovery Mode and ran the application and now my phone is up and running again on 5.0. Awesome!
Is this the stock OC4 OTA update to 5.0? If so, users that use this file wont be able to downgrade back to 4.4.2 as said here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3076803

I've also softbricked my phone trying to downgrade to kitkat from lollipop. I tried to use Kies and Smart Switch but no luck. I tried talking to Samsung and they said "You have to send it in". Crazy that software can get so screwed up with no recovery.
My phone's not under warranty so I'm trying to do it myself. Serves me right for not rooting it when I was on kitkat and then getting the OTA of Lollipop.
If anyone can even steer me towards a forum that I can get some suggestions to recover this mess, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

You can't downgrade if you're already on 5.0, and even if you could, you can't install anything beyond Touchwiz (Samsung) based ROMs because of a locked bootloader.
Let me know if you have any luck

I was never interesting in rooting my phone until just recently and have been doing some light reading on Life Hacker to learn more and it brought me here. I just wanted to clarify your comment above. Are you saying that having the phone that I/we have we are completely out of luck if we wanted to root/modify our phones? Forever or just until something changes down the road?
Well I sold my at&t s5 and ordered a unlocked tmobile s5 to use on at&t with my sim card because you can root the tmobile version. I hope one day soon someone will figure out how to root it I believe it will be done soon just keep checking back on here.

I don't think that will work, the firmware listed there is 4.4.2 which is KitKat, you can not downgrade to KK if you are on lollipop or marshmallow, you could soft brick or worse. I would not attempt this unless you are actually on KK.

For future reference, don't give these unsure ideas to people and tell them to update their phones like this. At the moment, YOU CANNOT GET ROOTED LOLLIPOP 100% of the time unless you were/are on 4.4.2 KitKat with root (use Towelroot) and update through muniz_ri's update method. Trying to downgrade to KitKat will result in a bricked device as the thread previously mentioned.
The reason why root persists on 5.0 when you update it via this method is due to using the older bootloader which doesn't verify the system's integrity the same way the newer bootloaders do.

I actually doesn't have the s5 att(except for a family member). I really just wanna help a little.

[ROM][ROOT] Tab S 8.4 - SM-T707V(Verizon) Stock Pre-rooted ROM - Tester required.

I built this ROM as a test for those who have locked bootloaders on the Tab S and can't get root.
In my experience Samsung bootloader locked devices will not allow a custom kernel or recovery to be installed. However it is possible that the bootloader will allow a modified rom to be installed.
The rom is bone stock Lollipop 5.0.2 except it is pre-rooted with SuperSU 2.49. It needs to be installed via ODIN. If ODIN allows it to flash then its highly likely it will boot just fine.
If there are any issues that arise then all that is required is to flash the stock firmware, available here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T707V/
T707VVRS1BOK1_preroot_system.img.tar
If anyone gives this a shot, please report with details.

If it works for the T707v then I'll do the same for the other Bootloader locked devices. It all depends on whether ODIN will flash it or not.
The reason I have used the T707v is because this device at least has the stock firmware available, so it should be relatively safe to try this.

What is the state of root when checked with Root validator?
We need screenshots if possible please.

Exactly, if he'd have only took the time to at least let us know if it installed OK with odin. It seems like it did which means that he should also have had root.
Not sure what he was expecting to see?

Sm-910t2 root?

Hello,
so I'm considering getting a Note 4 for backup. I'm going to be getting it from BestBuy. But while doing some research I noticed the model # they ship out is SM-910T2. It's supposed to be an unlocked version. Does anyone know if there is any difference in the firmware to the 910T? Rootable? Didn't find much info after further research. Appreciate any help.
If you check sammobile it looks as if that model never got updated pass 4.4.4. As for root, not sure but you can flash the firmware on the tmobile version 910T even from 6.0.1. Hope this helped.

Yes, that definitely helps. I didn't want to end up w a device that I can't root. I saw on another thread it's rootable but idk if I'll run into issues when it comes time to flash MM roms on KK firmware.

Flash twrp recovery by odin
Boot into twrp
Flash supersu.zip from twrp and reboot. You will get permanent root with supersu binaries.
Uninstall kingroot from kingroot settings and full unroot before doing this method.
Twrp recovery.
