Wall Charger with USB A and USB C ports - Nexus 5X Accessories

Is anybody aware of a wall charger that has both ports for USB A and USB C? I want to be able to charge my 5x along with my girlfriend's s6 at the same time, along with some other microUSB devices. It would be ideal for the USB C port to output 3A and the USB A port to output 2.4A. I've had no luck searching for anything like this.

I've only seen a desktop multi charger. Something like 5 ports and one of them being type C.

I'm guessing this is maybe what you're looking for. Not sure if it can charge one at 3.0 and one at 2.4 but it does have both ports. Unfortunately since I am a new member I can't post a link but it's called the "Tronsmart 33W Dual USB Turbo Wall Charger". You should be able to find it if you search on google.

Good find thanks, definitely what I was looking for. Just a little expensive at $23...hopefully they start becoming more common soon.

Anker offer a desktop charger with one USB C 3A and 4 standard 2.4 A USB ports, total output 40W. Likely to be over budget though...o

There is the Choetech wall charger with 1 x USB C and 2 x USB A ports. It can do 1 x 3 amp and 2 x 2.4 A simultaneously.
It's reviewed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...iew-choetech-39w-3-port-wall-charger-t3315872
I have the UK version and it works great with the 5x. Choetech cables (I have a C to C and A to C) are great quality. I think they make the oem cables for Google (I'm sure someone will correct me if this isn't right)

this one is also pretty good, just don't expect to be able to use all 3 ports at max output:

perfect for a phone, a smartwatch, and an accessory though

Confirmed fast charging longer cables?

Those who have their phone know the cable on the fast charger is 1 meter, which is not long enough to reach any table youd ever have a plug next to.
I tried two different type C -> Type C cables and neither would fast charge with the included wall wart.
Anyone find a longer cable that fast charges with our plugs? 2 meters would be great.
It's tough sledding hacking through all the different Amazon.com listings to get something with an actual USB 3.1 and 3A rating for a 2m cable. The ones I;ve seen are either out of stock, take forever to come from China or overpriced in the $25-30 range. Would love to hear from anyone that actually found one too.
I bought a type C to A from amazon for the computer and it charges rapidly on all my wall chargers down to 2.4 amp.
Monoprice was out, otherwise I would have ordered there. >>> http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13010
this is what I'm using, fast charges and mounts no problem.

I would bet this will work. same brand as what I have, they have a real thick jacket on them. It's a good cord.

edit, I just read the description on amazon for those cords
....Note for Nexus 5X/6P: In order to ensure FAST CHARGING, please ensure the charger can output 5V/3A. The cable can afford 3A current did not mean it can provide 3A. We recommend use Google official USB Type C charger with our USB C to C cable...
That monoprice page is goofy.. title lists it as USB 2.0 and then the description goes on to talk about USB 3.1

Monoprice 2.0 six foot c to c cable charges just as fast as the 3 foot cable that came with the phone. High quality stuff. The phone doesn't support higher than 2.0 anyway.

USB 2.0 refers to the data transmission standard and really nothing to do with charging amps. Although, to be USB 3.1 compliant, I think the cable needs to be fairly stout to handle the increased loads in both data speed and charging power. My guess is this cable is in fact 3.1, but someone made a mistake updating the title.

I understand that. Monoprice's 2.0 c to c cable supports up to 3A. No point in spending almost double the price on the 3.1 cable..

What I am saying is that it is hard to even trust the 3A rating with the conflicting statements on 2.0 vs 3.1. Do you have the cable and have tested it? That would be different.

Yes I do have the cable. Monoprice has that 3.1 description on all of their type c cables for some reason. The 2.0 3a cable works just fine.. I just went from 49% to 82% from when I went outside to winterize my boat and when I just went back in to check my phone, not sure how long that was, but a pretty short period of time. I usually put it on the charger when I turn on the TV at night and take it off when it hits 100% before I do to sleep.
I ordered this USB A to C one, http://.ebay.com/itm/261840366171 . The phone says Charging Rapidly. I have not done any data transfer with the computer, but upon plugging it in, the computer detected it ok. It ships from the US, but took a little while with standard shipping. Maybe almost a week;

It might say rapidly charging but I doubt it's as fast as the stock charger. I've used a USB-A to type C cable, got rapidly charging, but it was only max 1800 mAh as opposed to the 2800+ with the stock one.

I dunno about that. I have used a couple 2A Samsung USB chargers with type a to c cable and my phone charges almost as quickly as the stock charger at least in regards of empty to full. I think the difference between the stock and alternate high amp chargers that are around 2A is how quickly it can do a partial quick charge from say 0 to 50% but from 0 to 100% I haven't noticed much of a difference.

I got one of his cables to review... I got it to charge 2.2A + using a 2.4A charger. But I do think you are correct in that there probably isnt a 3A option with anything using USB TYPE-A. 3A seems to be the realm of pure USB TYPE-C.

That's really odd. Mine registered fast charging immediately. I tested with Ampere multiple times and received the exact same reading with both cables.

Think this cable meets the USB type c specs as per Benson Leung?

We sell these at my store and I would assume because they're a well known and reputable brand it would meet the USB specs required so as to not damge what ever is being used to charge?
You can download this app to check the cable's USB Spec Compliance: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ericjohnson.currentmonitor. I used it on my 5X.

No - that is fine. 3A is what the OEM charger should be giving type-C to type-C.
But you should never be getting 3A with a type-C to type-A cable. 2.4A should be the absolute max with 1.5A being a more standard type-A charging level.
ok..I understand. I have also an cable wich shows 3000 when is plugged to the charger. Does it means that I can not connect my N5x with this cable to the computer? Or if I will plug it into USB 3.0 is it gonna be fine?
Thank you

Help with chargers / cables

Hello,
So I just ordered a Nexus 5X. I am trying to figure out what the deal is with the issues with some USB C cable and what is the best option for aftermarket chargers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems USB A to USB C cables are 2.4A max. USB C to USB C are 3A max. So the way to obtain the fastest charging possible is to have a 3A wall plug and a 3A capable USB C to USB C cable?
I am content with the OEM charger for the house, so I am mainly trying to figure out what to get for a charger for my car. Should I be looking for a 3 Amp car plug and a 3 Amp cable? Or am I looking for 2.4A / 2.4A? I am totally confused.
Also, I read somewhere that the Nexus 5X has a chip on the logic board that makes it fully compatible for Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0, and that it may be available later on through an update. Anyone heard this? If so I may as well get Quickcharge 3.0 products.
If someone could please explain this whole USB C ordeal I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!
EDIT:
I figured it all out. I ended up order the following:
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB to USB C Cable ( This will be my data / sync cable)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB C to USB C Cable ( This will be for my car)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WAKL4TY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Vinsic 3A USB C Car Charger (This has a USB C and a USB Port)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014F2NQ36?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
The Cable Matters USB to USB C has been confirmed compliant by Benson Leung so I wont have to worry about it frying any USB ports on my computer. lol

Sounds like you got the info just right. What's important about A to C is the resistor used and that it meets specifications. If not it'll be asking a charger for 3.0A when it can't give it possibly leading to burning out the charger. For me, I got the Elegiant A to C cables (which are compliant) for older ports since C isn't as readily available. Good for old car chargers, old wall chargers, hotel rooms, shopping center charging stations, etc. C to C is necessary for full rapid charging so I'm waiting for a car charger and compact battery bank that support 3.0A type C.

Thank you for clarifying. I thought I had it right I just wanted to make sure.
Also, I came across a 3A car charger. I already ordered it. There were a couple reviews that stated it wouldn't run at 3A, but there were also reviews stating that it does run on 3A IF you use the USB C port only. (It has a USB and a USB C Port) So I am assuming the people who had issues were probably using the USB side.

I can't find the article I read that stated QC 3.0 (I think they were wrong anyways), but I did hop over to the iFixit Nexus 5X tear down page. I remembered that they always list the IC's on logic boards for their tear downs. Sure enough, the Nexus 5X has the Qualcomm SMB1358 Quick Charge 2.0 IC.

Need a charger capable of rapid charging

Just bought a Nexus 5x off Swappa and it didn't come with the original LG charger, just a USB C to A cable. Are there any 3rd party charging blocks and cables that work well and provide rapid charging for the 5x? I've looked at a lot on Amazon and Ebay and there don't seem to be any that work as well.
There's this from SONEic....
Also, can anyone tell me if you'll get faster charging (like Type C to Type C) if you use a USB 3.0 to Type C cable, or does it matter?
Thanks,
Jank.
This CHOETECH power supply works well: link
You need a type-C to type-C cable to take advantage of the full speeds. I use this one: link
Check out this sheet for chargers, for cables and accessories.

Also Google"Benson Leung". He's put a lot of time into testing a lot of products and can probably save you a lot of headaches. There's a lot of really questionable cables and chargers out there for USB type-c so you want to be careful. It's not like the old micro USB days where anything worked. Bad cables can burn your phone, charger or worse
@adobeman - appreciate the reply. I have seen that spreadsheet but noticed nothing had a review date for this year, 2016. I had hoped something more current that was a sure winner would have been released by now. Maybe not, maybe it's just the SONEic and Choetec so far. There are a ton of the LG OEM cables/chargers on eBay but they all ship from China so are questionable at best, don't know if they're knockoffs or real. Oh well. The problem with the Google cable on the play store is that it's a single piece, the cable isn't removable.
Guess I'll give one of these other two options a shot and go from there. Thanks again!

I have tested LG OEM cable/charge on Nexus 5X, the charger support Quick Charge, it works well with device but it didn't charge as quickly as stock Nexus charger. I remember that it took me about ~1.8 hours to charge from 20% to 100% with LG OEM charger. LG OEM Charger output is 5V/1.8A, 9V/1.8A while stock one is 5V/3A.
If you want to take full advantage of Nexus 5X fast charge, you should choose charger that can output 5V/3A current. You can get more information in this article.

@SuperBoUDS - thanks. I went with this option this morning: SONEic USB Type C rapid charger & this Anker USB C to USB 3.0 for another cable. They should be here Friday and I'll review and confirm how well they work. CUrrently, I only have a legacy USB 2.0 to Type C cable that came with my used phone. It only charges up to about 1400 mA when the batter is really low.
FYI, since the spreadsheet is outdated as of 2016 the best (albeit disorganized) source for USB-C cables/charger/accessories that are compliant is probably benson leungs amazon profile feed:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A25GROL6KJV3QG/
if you don't want to go with choetech or tronsmart, you can find oem LG chargers and cables on eBay for $15-$20
I have three choetech USB C wall chargers. I've had inconsistent performance with them -- at times the phone does not register it as a rapid charger, and so far one has stopped working completely. The USB cables are from Anker and I haven't faced any problems with them.
You can't go wrong buying an OEM or Google made charger.
I use this one while traveling. Benson Leung approved. It works great and also allows to charge another USB A device at same time. https://www.amazon.com/Charger-GMYLE-Adapter-Macbook-Chromebook/dp/B01193T77I

After using the SONEic USB C to C charger I purchased above, I can say that I've rarely, if ever, seen it charge faster than 2.15 mA. That with the battery fairly low so I would think it should be charging faster. It does come up as rapidly charging though. It works well enough, just was hoping for more.

I can confirm that the Soneic didn't go above 2A using Ampere app . I tried the Choetech and it went upto 2.5 A once.
Both say charging rapidly. I'll be returning the Soneic
I've seen varying performances with all chargers, none of them seem to sustain the charging rate even if the phone is <10%
Not sure if it's the same behavior with the OEM charger
How about this one? Is good enough for 5x ,

Best USB - C Cable for Note 8?

Heyy guys. Can anyone suggest some good USB type C cables (3rd Party) which supports Fast Charging for our Note 8?
Do include those which comply with USB Type-C standards/ are compliant cables and are USB IF Certified.
Also please tell me how much maximum current does our Note 8 supports with Adaptive Fast Charge (QC 2.0).
You will not find anything that charges your phone faster compared to the cable and charger that comes with your phone.
I'm using a USB 3.1 Type C (Gen 2) cable together with the Anker PowerCore Speed 10000 QC which is a QC 3.0 charger and it doesn't charge any faster compared to the cable and charger that comes with phone. Both take about 1:30 to charge the phone from 20% to 100% while having the screen turned off.

I might be using some incomplete/incorrect search terms. Could you tell me with what are you searching or if you can provide me with the links of those cables from amazon.in if possible.

No I won't tell you. I'll give you a hint though: you have already written the exact search term in one of your previous posts

By exact search term if u mean "USB Type C Gen 2 Cable" then I have already tried that but did not get any fruitful result. That's why I asked you to tell me about it.
I have this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01L...ker+type+c&dpPl=1&dpID=511f-4aaDiL&ref=plSrch and its one of the best cables out there. You can tow your car also [emoji13]

OK. This isn't funny any more :'(
Take look at this cable which is gen2 and USB IF certified USB Type-C to USB-A Male 3.1 Gen2 Cable - 3 Feet (0.9 Meters) - Black.
I have Trilink braided USB-C 3.1 cables, they work perfect and my phone charges the same as with the OEM cable that it comes with.

I have these also and seem to do it for me. I know on the V20 you needed to make sure it had the 56k ohm resistor. Does this hold true for f2f he note 8 as well? I know some usb c cables don't have it
