Is WiFi calling on Verizon possible on stock 6.0.1? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I guess now the S6 series is supported by Verizon. I know the Nexus 6 supports the feature.. Any way to force enable it on a stock/rooted MM 6.0.1 device?

No as they have to make it available for your device on the server side.

Verizon's recent MM updates now include WiFi calling (my wife recently received an OTA on her LG G4). Since I'm on a custom rom, I don't know if there has been a recent release for our device with that feature.

Google Hangouts Dialer can make calls over WiFi. Not sure about Google Voice.

Newest Google Voice Update on Leakv.2 2.1

Has anyone had success with the most recent Google Voice update? I'm on 2.1 2.1 leak (v2). If so, how did you do it? I have to run 0.2 of the GV app to be able to route calls.
Thanks.
Google Voice
I have not had success with routing calls through google voice, but I don't call much and I think the latest improvements in the google voice update are worth it.

be aware, installing that version and youll no longer have the near-instant sms that the most recent version has. so it depends if you call or txt more.

[APP]SIPdroid

Just a heads up... new version is out on the market... fully supports inbound and outbound calling VIA Google Voice... pretty slick, basically (TMo) wifi calling without using minutes...
Add the [APP] flag to the title, yo. Good stuff otherwise.

Can someone please tell me how to use sipdroid? I downloaded it and made a pbxes.org account (with google voice) but when I call on wifi it says call could not be connected and fails. Also can you do 3g voip calling with att because it wont even register with pbxes.org on 3G for some reason for me.

Download SIPdroid
Create new account using Google Voice
Make sure you are connected to a good wifi connection
Make sure the little light in the notification bar is green.
Make phone call
Ok I got it to work, the problem was actually that the phone used a different gvoice account.
What about my question on 3G?

Just a heads-up; I had to recreate the pbxes account that I already had in order to add google voice.

Some people have mentioned waiting to see if the Visual Voice mail from the SGSii on from Sprint will be a possibility
If you want the same functionality use google voice and DO NOT integrate your number. Go through the normal gv setup and then it basically acts just like vvm did

It won't slave my phone and make me press 1 to answer a freaking call?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Nope, and that was a setting that could be changes @ google.com/voice anyway
You have to set up Google voice using sprint #, then wait 15 mins
Then Google to Google voice on your laptop browser and deactivate your sprint # to go back to your regular Google voice #
Then you should be able to go back to phone and use Google voice only for voicemail

Just install and set up google voice DO NOT INTEGRATE the tick the box for voicemail ONLY if that is all you want to do for now. I was very hesitant to do this and finally did, it works perfectly and you also get free voice mail transcriptions to text as well.

Outside of the GV recommendations given here...
I think you're going to find that the answer is no. The Nexus series on Sprint has the voice mail routed through a different server than regular Sprint phones, and thus renders the Sprint Visual Voicemail app useless. You will find that it will install, and you can open it, but it will find no voice mail from the server.
I wish I had a link to prove this as it comes up often, but either a Sprint Tech or some smart member of this community (or some other android community) explained it all once.
Give Google Voice a shot....

Yes, I ran into these same issues with the Epic and the EVO when using AOSP roms (Cyanogenmod, MIUI, etc). This is probably the same issue on the Nexus S because is uses AOSP firmware. What ends up happening here is that the vm app installs, but it does not configure correctly to download voicemail. The solution I found on another thread worked perfectly on the Epic/EVO, and should work fine on the nexus. If it doesn't, let me know, I'm curious (im on gv so i dont use the app anymore). Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982966
I was so excited, but I couldn't get it to work. I read, re read, and tried to follow directions, usually very good at it, but couldn't find any of this on Titanium Backup as they kept discussing. I looked through everything, even tried step 10, could not get anything to work after loading the .apk. It kept
trying to verify everything and just had wheels spinning.
It does show an email pack in the notifications, but since I just upgraded from CM7 to 2.3.7, don't know if this is the new notification or part of the visual
voicemail that remains on my phone.
You had my hopes up, good info, but didn't work for me.

I miss Google Voice.

I switched to Sprint from Verizon. I've been effortlessly using Google Voice to answer/transcribe my calls on the Droid 1, the galaxy nexus and the note 3. Now with sprint + nexus 6,i can install the app but can't get it to answer calls. Ideas?
You use Google hangout to answer calls and see voicemail now. Also get hangouts dialer

Above (zephiK) has provided the direct-VoIP solution, as an alternative, there is the traditional Google Voice solution, which is to actually forward the call to your mobile number. You may have forgotten to update your google voice account settings to add your phone number and enable forwarding. It is also possible that hangouts (application) may be interfering with forwarding, so check the google voice settings in the hangouts application.

[Q] Anyway to use my Google Voice number as the primary phone number?

I use my Google Voice number for everything. Currently I have to make and receive calls via Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer.
Does anybody know of a way to integrate the Google Voice number into the primary phone? I would rather use the built-in Dialer, similar to Project Fi.

call your provider, have them change your number to your google voice number? you cant use it other ways. it doesnt provide data, nor have a provider, so youd never be able to use it. if you have data, then you can use it. data doesnt come from the amazing data man.

I'm not saying to replace the primary number on my sim card. That's what I use for unlimited data. I just wish there were a way to select which number to use when using the stock dialer - tell it to dial with my GV number instead of sim number. Google Hangouts lets you do that.
My son does that. Install the Google voice app and set it up such that you use google voice for all calls. It's really quite easy to set up. None of us know remember his carrier number. Only his Google voice number

I totally forgot about the GV app. Yes, this will work. The ONLY downside is the GV app still uses my VZW plan minutes where Hangouts Dialer doesn't (its strictly data). So I have to balance the two since I'm capped to 700 minutes per month, which I rarely use.
