MINOR UPDATE 04/01/2016
Only a small bugfix release, trying to fix usb force charge and fix a broken wifi. new build is up now at links below
TW Kernel
CM Kernel
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 03/01/2016
Yet another Update folks, this one is small and only adds a couple of things
Code:
Add USB Forced Fast Charging support (google for info)
Add a Build that works on Cyanogenmod also
for each version released (from 1.3) their will be 2 seperate zip files, one will have TW in the name and one will have CM
the TW Version WILL ONLY work on touchwiz roms
and the CM version will work on Cyanogenmod based roms
have tested on CM 12.1 and it works and seems to fix a few bugs aswell apprently
nice short one for today
any questions or requests are welcome and feel free to let others know about these kernels
zips are in the download section or available here :

CM 1.3 Build:
--------------------
UPDATE 02/01/2016
New update Released today folks.
new features added
Code:
600mhz GPU Overclock
New I/O Schedulers added
New CPU Governors added
Added a few Different Hotplug drivers to hopefully aid Battery life
Entire kernel is built using the Hyper-Linaro 5.1.1 Toolchain with -O3 and graphite enabled for extra performance and general smoothness
Bit More coding has been worked on for OTG support but this is not working yet if anyone has any ideas or can help with OTG support please contact me as i am a bit stumped on this at moment
download zip file in the downloads tab or from :
currently 1.8ghz seems to be the highest Overclock possible on the cpu as anything more than that fails to boot. still looking into it
any questions or suggestions are welcome
donations are much appreciated also
--------------------------------------------------------
Hello All, and welcome to 2016
got a nice new update for the snapdragon variants of the S5 Mini (g800h/ds/hq etc) and this kernel is as far as im aware quite unique across any device using the msm822x cpu. so you are all going to be part of a very special group for trying this one, that group is going to be the serious overclock group, this kernel overclocks not to 1.6ghz, not to 1.7 ghz but all the way to 1.8 ghz currently, and unless someone can let me know otherwise this is the fastest speed i have seen from a msm8226/8 based device. even the 2nd generation moto g only has a 1.6ghz clock.
changelog overall for this kernel from stock is :
Code:
Boosted Notification LED Brightness as default is quite dim apprently
Added UKSM(Ultra-Kernel Samepage merging) for performance and memory management
added interactive cpu governor
Enabled Fading LED Notification Light
Removed pretty much all debugging junk from kernel as its not needed
switched to linaro 4.9.4 compile with cortex a7 optimization
[strong]1.8Ghz CPU Overclock[strong]
550mhz GPU Overclock
100mhz Base GPU Clock (battery saving FTW)
zzmoove CPU governor
Few different I/O governors including FIOPS and BFQ
SU supported and have disabled samsungs stupid rooting protection
thanks again to sasukesama for testing this one, and again risking his device for it.
check the downloads tab for the files, i have created an update zip aswell as the standard img file and replacement wlan.ko for those who want to do them manually, i HAVE NOT created an odin file for this.
please remember to backup before flashing and i can not promise it will work on your device due to the silicon lottery when it comes to cpus etc.
any questions please feel free to ask
THIS WILL WORK ON TOUCHWIZ 5.1.1 ONLY AT THE MOMENT

Does this work on CyanogenMod for g800h ?

Its touchwiz only currently. Suppose ill have to make a version for cm at some point(i actually prefer stock over any form of cm. Cm is too bloated imo now

[KERNEL][I9195][Stock JB/KK] brisK v6

brisK Kernel
brisK is a KitKat kernel for stock-based ROMs for the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini LTE (GT-I9195).
It aims to be faster and more a bit more battery-friendly than the stock kernel, while retaining its stability.
To prevent bloat I will only apply useful features like BLN. Adding 10 random governors and schedulers is not useful in my eyes, and is also not the goal of this kernel.
Goals
Stability: The original Samsung kernel is stable, so let's not go too far away from it. This kernel doesn't need bleeding edge code - it just works(TM).
Efficiency: Less power consumption by faster computation.
Battery: A battery drain patch is included, which is not in Samsungs original code.
Speed: Minor changes, for example: Trade some screen smoothness for less kernel overhead. Should not be noticeable, though. Also lowers power consumption slightly.
Changelog
v6 (brisk_kk-stock_2015-07-28_15-07-08_64d9234.zip)
Removed more KNOX stuff (--> This fixed some random reboots!)
Finally upgraded to new toolchain: Linaro GCC 4.9.4-2015.06 (Cortex-A15)
Thanks @impactor and @SilviuMik for providing help!
v5
Revert default IO scheduler back to CFQ
Apply changes from new released kernel source (GT-I9195_EUR_KK_Opensource.zip - I9195XXUCOA2)
Apply changes from new released kernel source (GT-I9195_EUR_KK_Opensource.zip - I9195XXUCOE4)
Older versions
v4
Fixed USB-to-PC problems by re-enabling some debugging code
v3
Users reported: USB-to-PC (MTP) doesn't work? (Logfiles appreciated)
Apply changes from Samsungs GT-I9195_EUR_KK_Opensource_Update1.zip
Replace stock Wlan module with kk_2.7_rb1.43
Various kernel config changes:
Disable various unused and debugging features
Re-enable heap randomization
Enable "Optimize very unlikely/likely branches"
Set default IO scheduler to noop
Reduce preemption from "Low-latency desktop" to "Desktop"
Disable Samsungs Rooting Restriction
Added init.d support
v2
Added OTG support (UNTESTED) - Edit: NOT WORKING YET
Removed TIMA
Change to XZ compression
Add BLN support (UNTESTED) - Edit: NOT WORKING YET
v1
Added battery drain patches
Optimize kernel for speed, not size
Preparation for init.d support
Permissive SELinux
Future plans
Add proper Prima WLAN driver - Done!
Add a few more optimizations - Done!
Add init.d - Done!
JellyBean Kernel
The old JellyBean kernel is no longer maintained, but it is stable and its uptime was above 2000 hours on my device. I published it here too, in case someone is happy with their JellyBean ROM and wants this.
Features: BLN, Battery drain patches, kernel config optimized, most debugging code deactivated

Awesome people
@SilviuMik for helping me getting started and providing useful tips - You rock!
@Christopher83 for his toolchains
@F4k for providing source code where I can snoop around
@junkyde for his kernel and his OTG and BLN patches
@arco68 for being another great resource

Installing
To flash any of these zip-files, you need to install a custom recovery on your phone. (For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 )
Put zip file on your phone or on its microSD
Boot into recovery: Hold "Volume UP", "Home Button", and "Power Button" when it is off or rebooting
MAKE A FULL BACKUP BY USING THE BACKUP-MENU
Select "Install from zip" or something similar
Navigate to your zip file, select it, and flash it
Reboot your phone
Uninstalling
If you want to go back to Samsungs stock kernel or flash another kernel, you need to install "samsung_jb.zip" or "samsung_kk.zip" first.
brisK uses custom kernel modules. When you run on brisK and then directly install another custom kernel which has no custom modules, you will probably experience issues with WLAN and other stuff. To solve this, flash "samsung_jb.zip" or "samsung_kk.zip" (which flashes the stock modules), and THEN flash whatever custom kernel you want. - Of course you do NOT need to do this if you update to a newer version of brisK.
thank !
GREAT !!!
but for governors and schedulers , i agree with you in half ... but "few" of them are very useful !
what do you think about the recent "zen" ...or "row" ( by default in all customs like cyanogenmod ) ?
for you ,what are the "best" (more adapted ) for better compromise in performance/baterry save ?
why you don't add just 1 or 2 among the best of ones ?
Now running on brisK

I agree that some governors might actually improve performance, but there isn't much information available, some people say governor A is better, some say B is best...
But also: Kernel goal nr. 1 is stability, and ondemand is well tested. That's why I probably won't add any new governor before testing them a lot.
Can you suggest any governors? And do you have proof or URLs why they are better? Thanks!
If you want more features, more governors, etc, f4k will probably release a stock kernel soon. So keep an eye out for that!

Zen: I don't know what this does different than other schedulers, I have to read about this first.
I considered "row" when I had an Evo 3D, but I didn't notice a difference between "noop" and "row" in normal daily usage, so I'm not sure yet if I will include it or not - needs more testing.

Same thinking as me ...
ondemand for CPU Gov / No-op for I/O sched , they work great and don`t cause problems

Yes, my experience too!
Although, when I copy big files with "noop", android freezes for the duration of the copy process. That's the nature of "noop", but "row" might actually fix that. But then again: I rarely need to copy big files, so "noop" is okay for now.

NOOP hangs in general when the read/write task becomes too intensive. Consider CFQ if you're going to do a bit write operation, else ROW is better. That my two cent when I tried on my S3 with Boffela kernel.
PS. ZEN hangs even worse than NOOP.

For now i think no, because he did not remove Knox reference from source, i could be wrong tho !
I just released a new version!
A lot people asked for OTG, so here you go! I added OTG and BLN (untested!!!), thanks to junkyDE!
The highest kernel goal is stability, but I don't have time to test these features right now - maybe I can do one quick emergency fix tomorrow if something breaks, but after that I will probably not respond for 2 weeks or more.
So, have fun and enjoy!
brisK v2
Added OTG support (UNTESTED)

If it doesn't boot, just restore your boot partition from a backup or re-flash your previous kernel if you had any.

Thanks a lot for your input! Now I know I don't need to consider ZEN, and will stay with NOOP, and aim for ROW when I have time to add it.

Q: Will you add feature "X" to your kernel?
A: There is one chance that I add it to my kernel. simply post this question in the thread and if I find it usefull, I will implement it. Otherwise not.
Q: What are the best settings for a balanced using between battery saving and performance?
A: This settings are already the default ones. Because this default values are my personal settings, so this will be the best balance between power and battery .
Q: When is the next update coming?
A: As soon as possible. I am working really hard on bringing you a good update. That means also I have to test everything etc. I wont deliver you updates with big bugs! I better take my time and make everything working

Smooth ( using smartassV2 ) but doesn't have too much customization options
I mean Only 6 governor ( smartassV2 , performance , interactive , conservation , ondemand , powersave )
Overclocking limited to 1300
No new I/O Schedulers ( cqf , noop , row , deadline )
advantages: Z-RAM , UKMS
What suggested configuration?

i will not going to add all that fancy stuff which might break the kernel in my stable releases(why anyone would use my kernel if it breaks things ) i have added the most stable stuff in this and for governers take this example i will add 15 to 16 goverers some is causing random reboots ,some heating up the device and some just behaves strangely so will you use my kernel for that? i am not saying i am not going to add the features,i am just saying i will add the feature which i think would be stable but still if you want that stuff i will make some experimental builds

Please add swap ram support and GPU tweak
@coderdroid
Quick personal opinion, is it better to have standard CPU steps (350-600-800-1200...) or will it be an advantage to have more steps (300-400-500-600...), and how about under clocking, is it possible for our device? As I can't find any kernel did it,yet. Also the GPU tweaking, seems like mostly non doable on our device?
BTW, am dloading your kernel, will report if none did yet(any bugs or anything).
Osm kernel plz add swap support too

If you want to take my work and need it somewhere, or do other things with it, ask me first for the permission. Otherwise you are not allowed to take it! Thank you !
I release 2 different kernel versions here. One is for sony sensors, since they never have a problem, go for the *Mode* version, you got all working modes there but on sammy sensor you got washed out colors. So I made a second zip which has *Quality* in name, which has stock quality BUT not all camera modes are working. This works on: HydraRom, Sacs Rom, Renovate, everything else needs to be tested
Features of this Kernel:
- Build with latest sabermod Toolchain 7.0
- Build with BPI7 kernel source!
- F2FS compatible
- Choose kernel between quality or modes
- Latest Linux version 3.18.42, is always up to date
- Performance and Batterylife improved
- Choose between different CPU governors: performance, powersave, userspace, ondemand, interactiv (default), conservative
- Built with latest ramdisk sources from samsung (BPH7)
- I/O schedulers: CFQ (Default), ROW, No-op, Deadline, BFQ, FIOPS, SIO, VR, ZEN, FIFO, and SIOplus
- Fixed power efficient wq permission
- Critical TCP bug fixed
- Thermal drivers updated
- Selinux updates merged by google
- Zram LZ4 enabled
- Allow ADB-Insecure
- TCP (Network) control: Bic (default), Reno, cubic, Westwood, Highspeed, Hybla, HTCP, Vegas, Veno, Scalable, LP, Yeah and Illinois
- SeLinux is set to permissive
- All samsung related configs disabled (as knox, tima, restrict rooting)
- force encryption by samsung disabled!
Download:
V1.3 available on AndroidFilehost
Bugs/Problems:
- Camera with washed out colors or with not working modes (depends on your choice)
Instructions:
0. Make a full backup of your phone just in case!
1. Install a custom recovery for your phone, like this one here: TWRP
2. Follow the instructions on the page above, until you get a working recovery
3. Download the Kernel from below and copy it to your phone
4. Reboot to your recovery by pressing volume up, home button and power button at the same time.
5. Now, flash your kernel you put onto the phone
6. Flash supersu, phh's root or xposed, just all things that modify your boot.img
7. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (recommand)
8. Reboot

Manjuu Kernel v2 for NightOwl CM 12.1 / LineageOS 13

This kernel is made based on @bauner's CM 12.1 NightOwl ROM, LineageOS 13 with a few changes,. Originally based on my preference in what features I want added, I thought the rest of the Note 1 users might benefit from a bit more variety on his projects.
Just flash the kernel and you're done, make sure you're on the latest ROMs by bauner. As always, I'm not responsible if you brick your device due to some freak accident.
What's new:
V3
Merged kernel patches from bauner's commits
Redo some optimisation flags
V2
Did some optimisations
Tweak Interactive codes
Fix possible memory leaks
Please refer to my commits for more detailed info
V1.5
Set Westwood as TCP default
V1
Set Interactive as the default governor
Undervolt by 50mV
13-step CPU frequency
Download links:
CM 12.1
LineageOS 13
I did not test LineageOS 13, so please have a copy of the original NightOwl kernel on standby before flashing.

The target loads do not need to make a new line, one spacing for each of them is the way it is written.
For example, write it as: 95 200000:60 300000:33 and so on.
For better multitasking:
I'm getting lags on MM, too. Might just "upgrade" back to LP and give your kennel a try...

Hi AutumQueen92,
I would like to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind...
- Have you tried a Forest-LP kernel ?
- If „Yes“, what is the difference between those two... ?
- Is your kernel overclocked ?
- What is your experience between those three kernels when you compare them (Bauner's, Forest-LP and your own) ?
- Don't be too polite and then not to write about your kernel too... [emoji2]
Thanks in advance.
Cheers ! [emoji481] [emoji481]

1. Yeah I've tried it.
2. If you mean this kernel and his, we both used different toolchains (compilers). I'm not sure what UberTC does but the one I used is made to optimise the Note's CPU itself so it works better. But then Forest's kernel has some kind of overclocked display panel, I'm not sure what that is. It's been a long time since I used his kernel so mine is more updated since it's based on Bauner's.
3. Nope, I don't want overclock. Apps these days are made for quad-core CPUs, so overclock will do nothing except hurt your hardware.
4. I haven't been using Forest's kernel very long, I preferred War kernel or Bauner's stock kernel better. By combining those two to make mine, I feel that it's faster now although I want to do a longer usage without rebooting. Lately I've been rebooting a lot to stabilise the kernel and make some fixes, but the first usage is already showing good results. I'm trying to implement my custom tweaks, if I can't embed it into the kernel I'll post a small section for it in next month's update. Right now battery usage is about the same but better performance.
5. ??? You mean I should post a more detailed explanation about the kernel?

That's very hard to believe because performance governor just clocks your CPU at max frequency the entire time. Also very impossible, I don't want OC on the Note 1. If you want it so badly you can try building your own kernel and adding it.

The performance governor is not a good idea.
As @AutumQueen92 said it will run the cpu at the highest clock all the time.
After a very short time it will reach the thermal throttling temperature and then it will constantly switch between 800 and 1400Mhz
You can see it with this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yanyan.cputemp
Using V1 right now and it is very stable, should I flash the V2? Also one more thing is it possible to tweak the minimum brightness value to 1 without changing the source value and rebuild the whole kernel afterward? Thanks!

I know that thermal throttling is something what can be a problem but I have monitoring app which show me all the time what is a current temperature of processor and untill now I have no problem at all except that battery life is half of what it should be normaly...
Actually, when I wrote last post I was on „Ineractive“ governor and now I use „Performance“ governor and „cfq“ scheduler with 256 kb „read ahead“ value on the internal memory and also on the SD card. So I'll update you how far I will be satisfied with this combo. In the next few weeks I also will flash new from the scratch again your LP rom and again test it with your kernel and then again with Forest LP kernel and then at least with this one kernel...

Hey there, will this work on my P3100 running SlimRom Nougat? Thanks!
Thanks!
Will test ASAP and report here!
Idea: is it possible to get some build with 1.4 or 1.5 GHZ like MM or LP kernels we had previously for this tab ? maybe it could boot at 1.2GHZ but with the proper tools (like setcpu) this higher levels would be possible as the user would test this possibility in each device! This boost is the only way to get updated apps and games to run properly in these tabs today and even battery savings can be reached with the right tweaking!

Thanks for the info,
You can enable touch boost with the settings i provided in the the second post, just change the boot duration to 1000 or 500 ms!
Switch to SIO i/o in IO scheduler settings.
Switch to LULZACTIVE GoV
Also do you use telegram?
Getting a boot loop on the kernel from 22/01/2019, but boots fine with the kernel from 20/01/2019.
Using P5110 with OmniROM with Android 7.1.
Am I missing much on the older version?

Dont worry I will be dropping a new build soon.
Seems to me like the bootloop on p5XX devices is caused by Overclocking to 1200Mhz :/
Hi.
I have both: P3110 and P5110 and both run 1.52GHZ fine with CandySiX-espressowifi-1.1.1-UNOFFICIAL-0320.zip + DhollmenM-Espresso_Kernel_20160629-P5110.zip OR DhollmenM-Espresso_Kernel_20160629-P3110.zip !
It is this limit I would like to test with updated ROMs and your kernel!
Thanks again.
PS: I can test your kernel builds with this updated frequencies if you need!
