Help: Tasker/AutoVoice Works With Google Now But Not Moto App? - Tasker Tips & Tricks

I want to use Tasker and AutoVoice to add custom commands to Google Now, but I've hit a roadblock. I have a Droid Turbo 2, so I generally use the Moto app so I can customize my launch phrase. However, when I set up my Tasker profile to skip media track using AutoVoice, it doesn't work with my launch phrase and instead pulls up a Google Search. However, when I go to Google Now and tap the microphone icon, the command works perfectly
What's going on, I thought that the Moto app segues into Google Now voice commands and wasn't its own separate app? Is there any way around this so I can still use Moto and not have to give up my custom launch phrase?

Touchless control activation within Google now

I've been using the Moto x for a week now and I feel that the touchless control activation (ok Google now) is much more sensitive than the "ok Google" hotword within the Google now app.
One thing I'm seeing is that when you're in the Google now app, it only listens for "ok Google" rather than touchless control "ok Google now", which isn't as sensitive.
Would like to confirm whether others are not able to activate touchless control "ok Google now" from within the Google now app?

That's how it's designed, it's not supposed to activate while on Google Now. At least that's how it is for me since day one. And it wouldn't make sense. Let's say if you are in Google Now, if you did activate Touchless Control, it would just goes back to Google Now to initiate the command, redundant.

I would've preferred it to still be able to pick up touchless control from within the google now app. I find that I can activate touchless control from across the room whereas the google now hotword is a lot less sensitive and I need to be close to my phone to activate it

Just an update on this. I stumbled across it by accident:
If you deactivate "hotword detection" within the Google now app, touchless control will now always be activated.
Just posting in case anybody finds it useful

Very good to know that the Google Hotword in Google Now is unnecessary and redundant, as it is a battery hog in 4.4.2! This should be marked somewhere as a huge tip!

Change voice assistant from LG to Google Now

If you have a Bluetooth headset, and you try to use to with LG's HORRIBLE voice assistant, it recognizes your commands about 1% of the time; totally not acceptable.
On other phones, Google Now comes up when you activate voice command; on this phone, I have tried EVERYTHING, but I can't get the LG voice command to not be the default action when I activate a voice command.
Has any one found a way to change this, either with other software, or by making some system changes?
On kitkat, on T Mobile, using a Plantronics Voyage Edge
Thanks!
I simply swipe up from the bottom and use Google Now. You probably can't change LG's voice assistant to use Google Now's speech engine.

There MAY be a way to do it kind of like how you can change the voice of Google Nav from the standard one to like Darth Vader and whatnot. Idk if anyone has attempted this BUT it might be worth a shot. maybe the actual application can be modified to reroute to Google Now instead of the base LG application. i might poke around to see what i can find
thanks; there are a couple of apps in the play store that used to do this for me with my HTC One Maxx, but they dont do anything for this phone; there are about 5 or 6 files that are related to LG's horrible "voice mate" app, but, with no way to restore my 4.4 rom if deleting any important files screws things up, I am hesitant to start deleting system files.

[Q] Google Voice?

This is rather petty...
I used the original X for a while and loved the touch less control, but always hated the marginally but noticeably longer wait for the spoken request to be inputted into the google search app. The google hotword detection (within the google app) was not compatible. I am considering buying the New X and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use the default google voice search without using moto voice?
it's somewhat possible but I'm not sure if it will always respond.
you could go into moto and than into the voice settings and uncheck the launch praise setting. after that, going into search/voice/now section of Google settings. From there, turn on hot word detection from any screen and lock screen.
Again, not sure how this will work in comparison to the Moto stuff. It might also not respond when the screen is off.

[Q] Google Now instead of Moto Voice?

How is Google now for this? I read about moto voice...but what if I want to use strictly Google now, is this possible? Also, while the phone is locked/screen off is it possible to say 'okay google' and have it activate?

With the exception of actual Moto Assist commands everything is pipped over to Google Now.
So if I use my activation phrase and say a Moto command such as: "What's up" that will stay on the phone and tell me about appointments and messages that I received. However if I say something outside of the listed commands like: "how far is the moon away from the Earth" it will tell me that it's opening Google and I will get the answer from Google.
As for using the standard "okay Google". I tried setting that up as my phrase. The phone complained that there wasn't enough syllables. So I just went with the suggested: Okay Google Now.
And yes, it works with the screen off. I've had it mostly work even while in my coat. Though it wasn't 100%. But to it's credit. I have a pretty thick leather coat and the phone screen is always facing me.
Also a drawback (for me at least) is sometimes I don't hear the little chime that lets me know that it's waiting for a command. So I end up saying the phrase twice thinking that it didn't hear me and then I will hear that it's searching Google.
I think it uses Google Now API
It sure seems to me that moto voice is actually using google now. I installed bluetooth launch (but didn't need to use it, other than to remove Voice Dialer as the default bluetooth button launch). Then when pushing the bluetooth button I could launch my choice of Moto Voice or Google Now. The Ok Google does work with this phone. But Moto Voice lets you change the phrase. Moto Voice will simply launch Google Now when any question you ask is a search.
The problem with Moto Voice is that it is much, much slower than just going to Google Now to begin with. I'm hoping that Motorola will kill off Moto Voice with the Android 5.0 update and simply use Google Now directly.

Tasker Voice Input WITHOUT AutoVoice/Tasker Now

Does anyone know of any way of using voice with Tasker that doesn't involve using Google services? I've only got Google App installed for the offline voice recognition, using the xposed plugin to force it to offline, I don't want to use anything else Google related (and the minute someone comes up with an alternative offline option I'll jump ship immediately.) That includes Google Play, so AutoVoice and Tasker Now are out. (Before anyone nitpicks, I use microG to provide the rest of the framework )
All I want to do is, when I press my bluetooth headset it launches my voice control task. I've got it set up so that when I use it from the phone I can use the search helper option when I use long press on the home button, set up with Event: Button: Long Search, but whenever I use my car BT button it launches Google Now.
Is there a way to intercept the intent perhaps? Or an alternative free app? Or a setting I've missed?
Thanks in advance!
There's a voice option native in Tasker.... Or a bt button pressed option. Either of those can run your task right?
The task works fine, using Get Voice, but I can't find a BT button pressed event.

Hi
how do you tigger autovoice so?
I didn't use Autovoice. And since then, utter was reborn as Saiy. I was trying to use Tasker to make a workable utter alternative, but no need now!
