hi,
i sure it will depend what you looking for.?
Branded or unbranded stock Rom ? (local or international)
example.. I have a Note5 920 C device stock, not rooted and branded Vodacom software on device. ( basically same as Vodafone branded, same company. )
It has no WhatsApp installed.
So yes, you will find some stock Roms without WhatsApp.
Good luck

Thanks for your reply.
I prefer unbranded roms but couldn't find any, or even branded network unlocked. I can go with branded but without network lock.
What is the CSC for your device? Is it network locked or not? I may use it even it is branded.
Thanks

hi,
firstly,
no, its not network lock. My CSC is
N920COJV2AOJ3
However, point i was making, was to point you in the direction of maybe checking Vodafone Uk software (should be same, no WhatsApp.. not sure)
Yes, my software is branded software,
Only irritation, is the branded splashscreen. The extra pre installed apps, can be mostly be deleted or disabled.
Regarding the unbranded software.. .. the few i flashed with my old Note 4, mostly all had WhatsApp.. I think BTU, did not... not sure..?
Point is, there is Note5 Roms, without the WhatsApp pre installed.
Good luck

Thanks willcor, unfortunately Note 5 was not introduced in Europe and so no firmware for UK or any other country in Europe.
So do you have a link for your firmware as I don't know which one is it on sammobile firmwares? Which country?
Thanks

hi ,
here is the link re Samsmobile..(South Africa )
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/58392/N920CXXU2AOJ5_N920COJV2AOJ3_XFV/
se screenshot below .( You will see its listed also as a Vodafone software )
Just do your "homework" that you are satisfied all is in order.
(Device model no, or don't flash older software than your current Rom, re bootloader... etc etc .)
Bottom line is,
if you have any issues, flash your device latest, correct updated Rom.
Just to note ...,
with my old Note 2..,. Note 3 and Note 4.
i had branded Vodacom/Vodafone firmware and was able to flash all other unbranded ROMS ..eg ..Germany ,BTU ,Nordic countries ( NEE ) ,Netherlands etc etc .
good luck

Hi ,
Strange,
as i got no Whatsapp, on my stock ,non rooted Note 5, installed etc .
Never ever had and i have phone since Oct 2015.( but then my software on device was pre installed )
Anycase ,i feel like you ...i also don' t fancy it .??
I don't need it and if i am on my laptop /phone /internet it's amazing all the" spam / tricks /cons " that pop up .??
...eg ..Your Whatsapp version is outdated ,plse update to new version...click here..!!!!!!
( ...then like i stated i never ever had this " app" installed ..!!)
Why don't you disable it in Application Manager or if rooted uninstall it with root app Titanium Backup ?
Good luck in your quest.

can't update

Hello
I have a s3 on orange
And I can't update the phone. Kies says there is a update but it just loads a blank screen when I click ok. I've installed it with the driver and installed it to no joy. There is also no software update on the phone either!
Any ideas?
I'm on EE and there is no update, I upgraded with this as it gives you root but it is still stock, no increase in the counter and it shows that it is original in all the settings.
Done and dusted in thirteen minutes with no worries.

Hi Raistlin,
I'm on a HongKong StockROM (TGY), and would like to switch to a StockROM that offers also Dutch as a selectable language.
Does the EE ROM have that? On SamMobile the EE ROM info mentions Belgium in the supported regions, however not Holland. By the way my provider is T-Mobile.

how to install a stock international firmware on a Korean N950N 256GB

Hey
I have been searching for a clear answer but couldn't find any.
I am looking for guides and information about how I could possibly install a fresh, stock, "vanilla" version on my Note 8 N950N.
mine is the korean 256GB variant. I can't replace it and i wanted to get the 256GB variant anyway.
but some bloatware and also a few minor annoying "bugs" that are in the korean software is really disturbing me. it gets all confused because i am not really in/from korea. i get plenty of korean marketing **** and more...
I would like to have an international version. have it work seamlessly with my local networks, and also when i go abroad (i will be going to the USA in april).
Preferably i would like to get the Stock version, without rooting anything.
but if i have no choice i would install a custom rom which is the "cleanest" and the one most similar to stock.
please, can anyone write down clearly what are the steps I should do. I would be really thankful.
By the way, if it matters, I live in israel (if need to install a software or modem which are compatible.)
please, help!
thank you very much
Alon

Because you can't install F fw on a N without rooting, odin will not let you.
If you don't care about Samsung Pay or Secure Folder, twrp/root & install any custom F based rom you want. Or with root you can remove all the bloatware from your stock fw that you want. Or you can install Weta Rom base only. Weta Rom has the mod installer seperate so if you just want a stock unbloated rom Weta base would be a good choice. Weta is by far my favorite ROM so far & is what I have been running....with the Weta mod though.

Thank you,
I actually don't mind about Samsung Pay. it's not being used in Israel anyway, and what is Secure Folder? i didn't know about it also anyway so i guess it wouldnt bother me.
So what is the process step by step?
1. Root phone.
2. then?
is it possible to root the phone and then install a stock firmware of an F variant? i am not interested in having a custom rom anyway...

Hey man, I tried doing exactly this on my 256GB SM-N950N with @_alexndr's DevBase ROM for the SM-N950F as you linked to above. Skipped the model check, however, I keep getting an error message during the installation process. @_alexndr stated, here in that his DevBase thread, that flashing the SM-N950F ROM on the SM-N950N isn't that straight forward due to different system partition size.
Please would you happen to know of the proper procedure to resizing my SM-N950N partitions so that I can flash the latest SM-N950F Oreo (don't like Android pie) DevBase ROM on it? Thanks in advance.

No, that's still Korean. I'm looking to install the unlocked and unbranded UK CSC on my SM-N950N. However, doing that breaks Bixby and other region-locked Samsung services as they detect my model number isn't in the region. So, I figured installing the SM-N950F ROM would resolve the region locking issue. Similar to how Tkkg1994's Iron Man ROM did it.

i believe by debloating a bit, the total amount of data written to the system partition was reduced to accommodate the N devices. or by pure fluke, maybe dev never intended to reduce data just for the N but just by removing some knox stuff and other unneeded stuff when rooted.

But if I change the CSC to the UK unlocked and unbranded, Bixby starts saying "Ok, I canceled it" to every single 1 of my commands.
Whereas with the Iron Man ROM, which virtually changed my device model number to SM-N950F, and the same UK CSC, everything worked fine. Unfortunately, it's development came to an end long before my Note 8 was even 1 years old.

So you're applying the same CSC patch to both ROMs? Or you mean that a CSC with the same name in Iron Man ROM and in a separate CSC zip behave differently?
My phone is running stock N950N base, with my USA T-mobile CSC patch and Bixby works correctly for a USA Tmobile phone because all its settings are in the CSC config files.

I used Tkkg1994's CSC changer ZIP file in both cases. How did you go about doing your CSC change? If I can simply change to UK unlocked and unbranded CSC while keeping Bixby and every other Samsung service working as normal, I'll be fine with that.

the korean N960N has the same specs as the Fs.
so its a exynos chip and not a snapdragon.
this is my second Korean Note and have been extremely pleased.
no visual issues like some have reported on ither device.
Just flawless.
concerning logo( carrier stuff there are 3 or 4 carries in Korea so you are likely to get one of those.)
since i have rooted mine, i have rebranded csc to my sims carrier.
usually they ship region unlocked. When i buy from wondamobile,
seals is broken but it is probably to remove the lock. they make a 5 minute call to lift it.
these phones don't have the oem unlock vanishing issue either.
the Korean version has no snapdragon. Does the Samsung logo appear on the ignition? but do you need to change them to work with your operator? but does it have any restrictions with respect to others?

if i remember correctly, before i rooted and modified phone, it did have that carrier logo. but phone worked fine regardless. LTE and such was all working. Yes some carrier bloat in korean but that was to be expected. I root my phones so that was not an issue.

but does it also work in other regions? are there any preinstalled apps? Ke stock European firmware, not Korean can you flash?

well global firmware(if there is such a thing) would be more towards the n960f since it is more popular and also the same same chipset as ure phone. its sold in UK, greater asia, india, Oceania etc...)
the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

u cannot flash any other stock firmware than n960n with odin.
if you want to flash a custom rom.zip , you need to install twrp recovery and root. this will void warranty and also trip knox and some services will no longer work:
samsung pay
might be others.
please read the guides and discussion forums for more information on rooting.

what do you think, because I am a beginner I better use the current stock ROM (N960N) or have to replace another ROM? actually I just don't like Korean accents and Korean network operator logos when I turn it on or trun off my device because I'm already outside Korea. then what is the ROM recommendation for me?

As a beginner the best and most important thing you need to do is research and read up on these topics.
Head over to the development forum and see what each rom offers and choose the one which sounds most suitable for you.
None of us can answer whats best for you dude only you know that.
The nice thing is you can flash and try out as many roms as you want!

the n9600 is a snapdragon chip. and only sold in china and south America.
but regardless you cant flash stock firmware on different model devices. its a known fact.
if you root then u can flash custom n960f roms no problem on the n960n.(i have it too and been flashing all sorts of custom roms made for the F variant)

ok. then yeah just check the dr. ketan root oem fix guide in the guide and dicsussion sections.
I too want to flash the Spanish stock ROM, so as to get rid of d the bloatware and also to use Samsung Pay. A friend of mine told me to buy the Korean version and then flash the Spanish stock ROM, which he did with his note 8 and didn't trigger Knox. I'm getting the Secure Check Fail: Bootloader error when trying to flash with Odin, it's stuck at SYSTEM flashing. Don't know what to do anymore, tried rebooting everything, changing USB ports, running Odin as an admin, and flashing different versions of Android.
Can anyone help?

you say that u bought a sm-n960n (was told to)
then u say that you were aslo told to flash a spanish firmware from a sm-n960f device.
that is very very misleading.
again, you cannot flash firmware from a different model.
your buddy gives the best advice. he is your friend. listen to him always.

Strongly agree to you ....
Regards
I know for a fact that the Korean variant of the Note 9 and the international variant both run on the exact same hardware. With the only differences being in the bloatware included with the Korean variant. So theoretically speaking installing the Spanish N960F/D variant's OS onto the N960N should work perfectly without any issues

it work only if you flash a custom ROM, even thought they are the same but you cannot flash a F/D firmware with odin in N model, it mos be a bootloader thing or something else.
by the way the n9600 is a snapdragon model so that is even more impossible.

Yes, but you have to install a different firmware via Odin, make sure you use your specific model firmwares.
I have a G973F csc BTU and cant flash the Portuguese TPH, even flashed in odin i allways got btu/btu,btu/btu.....didnt change nothing
Apparently there is now a way to chance the CSC which requires a paid service. Look for replies about samkey in the thread linked below.
Thread here on XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/how-to/change-csc-code-firmware-sim-card-t3907375
Yeah my model is the SM-G973F
I saw few posts that talk about samkey but It cost (minimum 45€?)
It's possible to install the new android 10 beta?
I read that in german there is the beta program
Maybe it's work, if you flash other firmware via Odin and a other sim card insert of your country.
Often the csc changed than, because of first start time with the new sim card insert.
I did this last week for work with a Samsung Galaxy A50 (2019). There was a spain firmware flashed (php) and I flashed german region free (dbt). The csc code changed only, when I insert a german prepaid sim card.
Thanks! I will try! ?

Download the Samsung members app and register for android 10 open beta.
After few minutes waiting you become the OTA Android 10 / One UI 2.
Maybe you must manual search for updates under settings updates.
