Of course I know, but I prefer having more functions. I think it is easy to unlock the bootloader, but there is not any 3rd party recovery available. Maybe I should wait until update to 6.0

Hey guys, I rebuild the TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery from M9+
You can try it will work or not, but I have China's stock recovery only so far...
So, use it at your own risk

BTW, if someone can provide me the hosd file, I can decrypt the RUU file and make stock ROM

Maybe you should modify the boot image by yourself
1. flash the stock boot image that you've backup
2. flash the superuser.zip that provided in this thread in TWRP recovery

[Q] (Q)How to install the official 4.2.2 update with root

Ive downloaded the 4.2.2 official update on my HTC one,When I click install now it goes into TWRP and doesnt allow me to update.
Do I need to flash the custom recovery to update?
and if so will I need to flash TWRP later after upgrading or is there another way?
Can I locate the update file on TWRP and install it ?

[HELP] Root access on Marshmallow 6.0.1

Hi,
How do I root the phone now, after upgrading to 6.0.1
I've tried the method mentioned here: http://www.guruswizard.com/2015/12/root-android-one-devices-on-6-0-1-marshmallow.html to root my karbonn Sparkle V
and it wasn't successful, and I've lost all data after unlocking bootloader [I've got desktop backups though]
When tried to flash that modified boot image mentioned in that page, I am getting this error:
target reported max download size of 134217728 bytes
sending ‘boot’…
OKAY [0.515s]
writing ‘boot’…
FAILED (remote: size too large)
finished. total time: 0.577s
Is it for 2nd Gen devices? Did anyone get root access on their 1st gen sprout4?
So how do I root my phone now?
Thanks.

Cody kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...elopment/kernel-cody-kernel-07062015-t3128888
Supersu: http://download.chainfire.eu/743/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip
Flash both of them, and enjoy root
Or if you want root on stock kernel
Use supersu 2.62 from attachments of this thread

It will patch the kernel automatically and root without modifying system

Custom kernel and Custom Recovery both are different things,
Custom kernel is the device supreme commander which controls all processing, ram, fluidity and many others fact you can tweak it but cant use it to root the device..
On other hand Custom recovery is used to recover phone by flashing ROMS, zips , img etc.
So you can flash supersu from custom recovery and root your device
But if you already have custom kernel installed on device then its clear that your device is rooted, as bcoz. your custom kernel gives you some extra tweaks which is given after root.
So device emulates that you have custom kernel so your device is also rooted..
I think that you have understood....
BEST OF LUCK FOR YOUR FUTURE:good:

You can flash one using fastboot. Or instead of flashing you can even use the command "fastboot boot recovery ......... " (replace..... With name of recovery image file) . Once you are inside the recovery flash supersu zip normally and you'll root your phone without installing a custom recovery.

Go to Supersu app and click the option for full unroot/cleanup. That'll do the trick. Also, if you are rooted, you still receive OTA. In fact I received the Lollipop OTA while I had a custom recovery installed. The only difference that made was that after downloaded when the phone rebooted into the recovery for installation, the OTA zip wasn't installed. So you can unroot, keep the stock recovery and kernel and locked bootloader (you can relock it using fastboot) then you'll receive OTAs. However, I'd suggest, you install a custom recovery and simply flash an OTA when it arrives from the forums. Hope that helped you.
Very helpful indeed! Thanks Bud!

Observation On Infinix Hot 2 [X510-D5110-Androidone-20151208] on Root

So today I embarked on what seemed to be a fruitless journey as I tried to root the Infinix Hot 2 on the latest build (December Security Patch of course) and I observed the following:
1. Flashing TWRP Recovery that was previously made for this device doesn't Flash. SP/Infinix Flash Tool flashes the recovery quite alright but booting to recovery with ADB afterwards gives a "No command" screen.
2. Kingroot (PC & Mobile) can't root this device as of yet :'(
3. I think the bootloader can be unlocked using the Android One Toolkit that was created for 1st Gen Android One devices. Reason being the fact it booted to fastboot and prompted me with the option to accept bootloader unlock or not.
Should you come come successful with flashing recovery or rooting this latest build, please comment your method. Thank you...

recovery partition is protected, it will get back to stock recovery if you boot the system. so you really need to boot recovery as the first thing you do after flashing.
which because of the similar bug we can't unlock our bootloader, is impossible to do with default setting. flash your lk partition with this:

[HELP] How to Install TWRP without PC.

Hello everyone,
I'm in a little trouble. I need to install custom recovery on my Xperia SP C5302 but I have no PC.
How can I install TWRP ( preferred ) / CWM/Philz on my device ? Is there any way ?
Thank You.
Note : There's a cyber cafe beside my house. But all their computers are running Windows XP.
If there's no way to install without PC then can I be able to install custom recovery on my device with Win XP ?
Thanks again.

Install a terminal emulator by Jake Pelvich from Play store.
Extract the official TWRP img from the TWRP fota zip, or, if you already downloaded an official img, put it into the root of your internal storage.
For ease of access, but still mnemonic, rename the img into "twrp.img"
Open your terminal emulator, and enter "su" and run. This will make the terminal to request root, as you're elevating the shell into root.
Now, we "dd" the TWRP image into your FOTA partition. Copy and run the following:
Code:
dd if=/storage/emulated/0/twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/FOTAKernel bs=4096
Reboot to check if recovery is accessible after hitting volume up when LED lights up

What ROM are you using? You need a ROM that can boot a FOTAKernel recovery, and not all of them can (especially stock based ones, since stock by default doesn't allow this).
Ditto.
If you are not using a ROM that supports booting from TWRP, then I can't suggest a method to install other recoveries without a PC.
I do not say it is impossible though, but it'll take a lot of brain power, and moderate understanding of shell scripting in order to reverse engineer the other recoveries provided in the dev subforum.

Like already explained by Tomoms and me, you need a ROM that supports booting recovery from the FOTA partition in order for my explained method to work. You didn't also tell us which ROM you are using.
No, you dont need to flash your stock back. Leaving the FOTA partition replaced does no absolute harm at all.
If you flash stock, your bootloader will still remain unlocked. In order to relock, you will need to explicitly relock it, by using the relock bootloader option provided by flashtool. If you backed up your TA partition, restoring it will automatically relock your bootloader.

Our devices don't have a recovery partition to flash to.
Read the install instructions correctly:
https://twrp.me/motorola/motorolamotox4.html
You should use "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-payton.img" instead.
Then, follow along:
This will temporarily boot TWRP on your device. If you are using a lockscreen pin/pattern/password and do not get prompted to enter your password, reboot to the bootloader and try again. Go to install and browse to the zip and install the zip. The zip will install TWRP to both boot slots. Installing TWRP at this time will remove root if you are currently rooted.

No,
If you accidently flash TWRP to your device using fastboot instead of temporarily booting the image, you will need to download the latest firmware for your device and reflash the boot image.

I could be wrong but it seems like you are trying to flash TWRP to the recovery partition and there's no such thing on this phone. You have to temporarily boot TWRP and the keep following the instructions.
Is anybody able to backup / restore the phone with android one on encrypted file system??, im using the official twrp, but restoring backups just cause bootloops
is it necessary to unlock the bootloader before?
If you're asking if the bootloader needs to be unlocked to install magisk, absolutely!
Sorry for the dumb question but how do you unlock the bootloader on the Fi Android one Version?

If you are still haven't fixed this yet the issue is you need to fastboot boot the boot twrp image and then flash the flash image inside twrp. The guide on TWRP official will give you a guide on how to do this, the files required are also there.
