Kernel auditor - Low memory killer - Very aggressive
If you install Gapps after the ROM has been booted for the first time you either need to wipe data and reboot. Without this Gapps will crash constantly. This is due to the new permissions-system in M.

CURRENT KNOWN ISSUES:
Camera (3rd party apps works)
HDMI

Marshmallow on my Kindle 8.9 before my S6
Will install tonight and report back

For an initial build, I'd say it works pretty well! Do you have any sources on GitHub? @BuQQzz and I would like to port vanilla CM13 to this device and its 7" counterpart.
EDIT: I tested it out, and in Snapchat (I only tested stories), the audio is incredibly choppy about half the time. This issue doesn't seem to occur when I play a video from the YouTube app. Also, multitasking seems to work pretty well. (For those curious as to how to enable it, add persist.sys.debug.multi_window=true to your build.prop and reboot.) I would say that the OS seems slightly more stable than CM12, even for an initial build. How did you manage to solve the issues with SELinux?

Just downloaded, installing now. Saw android 6.0.1 after assuming I wouldn't get it, SUPER EXCITED

Loving it. Boot animation is off, but one could easily replace it. After tinkering in Kernal manager got my kindle to run pretty fast. Camera not working is fine for me, I never use it.

Currently, I'm not aware of any plans to port PAC-ROM, although that could change in the future.

After the reboot, you have to look in the recent apps menu (turn off Slim Recents and Omniswitch if you have them enabled; I'm fairly certain the multitasking options are only available from Android's native recent menu). You should see a new button to the left of the pin icon on each window's bar. I'll upload example screenshots to highlight this button.
EDIT: I've added the screenshots in. Once you press the multitasking button, you'll get the window options, which should be self-explanatory (first two are bottom/top halves, or left/right if you're in landscape mode; the next 4 are for each corner of the screen; the last one is for opening the app in the usual fullscreen mode).

I tested it the other day on an iPad Bluetooth keyboard; I can enter the pairing code and successfully pair the devices, but I can't use the keyboard after that. :/
I had this same issue with CM12; the keyboard works perfectly when I use CM11.

thnx, i`ll try finding patch for this trouble

I installed this yesterday and it works relatively well, however, the screen rotation randomly quits working in both launchers. I have to reboot to get screen rotation back.

I did a clean install of this build, both with and without gapps:
Regardless of whether or not I flash gapps, a red rectangle flashes around the edges of the screen every so often.
When I flash with gapps, the system appears significantly more unstable. It stalls often.
When I flash without gapps, the system appears halfway usable.

Mein as well... enjoy folks, let me know how it runs! Tested on CDMA Photon Q (xt897), should work fine for other msm8960 moto's.
NFC, BT, turn on but are untested. Wifi works great, as does 3g.
I use PA gapps, but any 4.4.2 gapps should work. Enjoy!
If you folks have issues (I'm expecting an issue with the home button) let me know!
Thank you @arrrghhh as always. And glad to see you supporting our device. Will test and let you know
Im also having Home button not working issue, long press on home brings up the google cirlce.
Battery isnt great, similar to probam/cyanfox/validus.
best battery life i got was on pure speed, but there's no new update on that rom
I dont have arrrghhh kernel

All of the msm8960 (non-DT) moto's use the same common kernel - so Atrix HD, Razr HD, Razr M, Photon Q. The new moto's (X, new DROID's Mini/Maxx/Ultra) or the msm8960dt's are a different SoC.
I support Carbon on all the msm8960 moto's, so supporting Gummy on all shouldn't be an issue

If, sometime in the future, you don't have too many projects going on, could you try to get an Omni build?
I tried it once, but got an error (everyone was getting it at the time), tried to get it to re-sync but it wouldn't because it wasn't initialized or something so reset the init, then re-ran envsetup, then tried to sync or build again but it wouldn't work no matter how much redundancy it had, so I just gave up... I'm not very patient...

I built Omni for the Photon Q... let's just say a) it was a pain. b) it didn't boot. I had people helping, and I had to revert 3 commits from the kernel... then it booted but was HORRIBLY slow.
I figured there was a lot missing for the msm8960's in general, or at least the motos. I might give it another go, but last I tried, it was not exactly "ready" for our devices. Too many changes were needed to just get it working!
Home key still broken on today's with clean flash.
Also is this the actual AOSP keyboard or is it a relabeled Google keyboard? I don't remember the AOSP keyboard having swipe.

EDIT: Also I just learned about the 2-finger swipe a few days ago so it took me a while to type that.

Damn, the commit is in qcom-common, and it "appears" like it went in before the nightly ran...
Perhaps I need to put the change in all the device trees...
Edit - just had a thought, those of you which tested the old vs. new... did you clean or dirty flash? Try clean flashing...

I tried both clean and dirty and it was the same. Also I can't delete the boot animation. It says it's a read only filesystem and I can't change permissions. Using ES File.

CarbonRom is another aftermarket ROM having its unique features. I have been playing with Carbon for sometime. It has some unique features like CarbonFibers and ActiveDisplay. Another cool ROM worth trying. Cheers!
Release Note:
2014/12/12
For some unknown reason, download provider is missing in the last build. I have to rebuild to make to work. Hoping this is really the final build...
2014/12/6
Lollipop is out and the last commit is weeks ago so this is the final version of Carbon 4.4.4. Hoping the lagecy could continue in 5.0. Cheers!
2014/9/12
I have upgrade my build enviornment and tried the AOSP l-preview for the past few weeks. It is more or less doable and quite stable. SKD API20 is not release yet and the version no. still show 4.4.3.43.43. I think that's why CM and others didn't touch l-preview.
I don't think the L source would come soon so I downgrade my build environment. It's been a month and about time for Carbon update!
2014/8/2
Just finished the GPU performance settings. In case some tabs might have lower tolerance, I lowered the GPU default min. and max. freq.
I also enable the Carbon performance tool. You can flash kernel and recovery from there. zRAM can only be enabled by TricksterMod. Old methods doesn't work on Kitkat. This build included all Carbon features. Enjoy!
2014/7/2
WC take a rest for a few days. It is about time for a new Carbon.
2014/4/19
There are a few bugs in CarbonRom for our tab since day one. SystemUI crash, Some pages in CarbonFibers crash...etc. I finally fixed them this weekend! So it's time for me the share. It include all the fixes in my Kitkat roms.

Thanks, worked for me as well, but can't stay on this ROM as bluetooth headset doesn't work with media, only with calls. Same problem as Omni. Works on CM11 and SlimKat, but SlimKat camera doesn't work, so I'm trying CM11 now, looks good so far =)
Dear Daniel, I have install this CarbonROM on to my P6800. It works like a charm. But...i thinks it cannot charged well using my original charger as other ROM. Charging never increase battery level, tend to decrease. Finally it dried up my tab. Now i cannot turn on my tab and still cannot charge it. I have used this tab for 2 years and loved to try many of your masterpiece ROM on it. Any suggestion to turn it on? Thanks bro...
So far I have no problem using this ROM on my P6800. Charging working as normal... Been using this ROM since the day Daniel released it.

I've given this a go on my P6810 and although basically good, I found one problem that was a deal breaker for me in that the bluetooth doesnt seem to work correctly. I could pair and connect with my external speaker (Minx Go) but the audio wasnt routed to the speaker.
Otherwise was a nice smooth rom with no other problems that I found. Ive gone back to the Cyanogen version for now.
Thanks for your efforts, I shall look for any updates. Got to say that bluetooth is a bit "flakey" on all the kit kat roms at the moment.

I have found a problem with Slimkat/Carbon/CM11/Omni ROMs
The top and bottom mics are reversed; meaning that the top microphone (which should be for noise cancellation) is used as the main microphone and bottom microphone (which should be the main microphone) is used for noise cancellation.
I have tried all 4 ROMs today and they all have the exact same problem.
Previously only one microphone was active and you successfully fixed this Daniel by enabling both microphones, now we just need to reverse them to make them work properly.
set color for navigation bar??
Says its a feature but my dumb a$s can't find the setting.
So I guess if does not exist that would be great also since I couldn't find it!
I wonder if xposed installer and its applications can be used with this rom..

I think it should be ok. I have used xposed on the CM 4.4.4r1 rom, as long as you are using Davlik and not ART for the runtime, it should be fine. I don't think Xposed is compatible with ART at the moment. I use the App Settings module, to set custom DPI values for various apps, also the greenify app has an Xposed module, which helps me to keep battery usage down and memory usage (I do this mainly for Real Racing 3 which is memory hungry).
Wow, a ROM from the future (7 July, today is 3rd July =p)
Hello guys,
Need to know the steps for flashing this ROM and GAPPS on a P6800.
Running stock 4.1.2 with root and CWM.
Thanks guys.
This is for someone who has a stock unrooted galaxy tab 7.7
This should be a full proof method of installing "first" a custom recovery and "second" a custom Kit kat rom.
Download all your files first.
1. Here is the link to Odin 3.07 -
https://www.google.com/url?q=http:/...ds-cse&usg=AFQjCNEqmNw0ERcW4K3UlFV7WKUotUiStw
When you go to this link it will give you the choice to open or save the file - I always download the file then extract it to a folder on my desktop named Odin.
2. Here is the link to TWRP v.2.7.1.0 -
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358545485
When you go to this link you will need to select the download option on the page. A ten second timer will count down and then give you a few options to download from. Just select the first one for your download.
3. Here is the link for your selected rom -
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358556281
When you go to this link you will need to select the download option on the page. It will give you the choice to open or save the file - SAVE is what you do.
4. Here is the link to the gapps file you will need.
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=15797 choose stock!
Again select download and choose to save.
We now have the four files we need to install this custom rom. Please copy the files from steps 3 and 4 to a micro sd card. Place the card into your tablet.
Time to INSTALL!!!
1. If you have not already - unzip the first file "Odin 3.07" to a folder on your desktop PC.
2. Press and hold the volume down and power button together and hold until a screen appears (other then a battery display or SAMSUNG) then let go of both. The screen should say something like "Warning!! A custom OS blah blah .. it will also say "Volume up: Continue".
3. Press the volume up choice. The screen should change to the little android and say downloading. This is known as "odin mode" and also referred to as "downloading mode" .
4. Now plug in the tablet transfer cable to the tablet and the PC. Open the Odin folder and double click the Odin3 v3.07 executable. Give the program permission to open if needed. Once open, Look for id:com - right above that you should see something like 0:[COM6](it might be another number then 6 this is all Good). If you do see this then you know you are connected.
In the option area you will see two options selected. Deselect Auto reboot leaving F. Reset Time the only one selected. To the right of this click the PDA button. This is where you will select the "TRWP v.2.7.1.0" file you downloaded on step 2. Once you select the twrp file, and you press open, the option for PDA will now have a check mark next to it. Now you can Press Start and let it run till you see "RESET!" at the top left of the Odin window and also you will see RES OK! in the message area (bottom left).
5. Disconnect the tablet from the transfer cable. Now Press the Power and Volume Up buttons together until you see the TEAMWIN window - release the buttons. This will take you into your newly installed twrp custom recovery. If the screen goes black while using the software, just touch it to wake.
6. Select WIPE
7. Select Format Data - type yes and press return on the keyboard - when it is done formatting choose the house icon to go back to the home screen.
8. Select Install - Navigate to your external sdcard and select the Carbon rom you downloaded in step 3.
9. Now select "add a zip" and choose the GAPPS file we downloaded in step 4.
10. Now use the "Swipe to Start" and allow the 2 files to install. When they finish you will have three choices.
11. First select wipe on the left - when it finishes select reboot.
Give it some time and you will eventually get to your carbon setup screen.

dont get it?
Hello,
I did everything you mentioned, but I'm using CWM instead of TWRP. Unfortunately though, when the Tab goes up I get two main crashes: Google Location, Setup Wizard, AOSP keyboard etc...
Any thoughts on that?
@ @daniel_hk, would appreciate your support on the matter.

[ROM] [5.1.1_r5] [UNOFFICIAL] [29/06] Paranoid Android 5.1 Alpha

Hey there! I'm just a builder who want to share with all of you the compiled sources of Paranoid (Credits to the team for all the work and gerrit patches I've used).
It's an alpha, so it doesn't have many features:
- It has an advanced power menu with options to reboot (recovery, bootloader, reboot), screenshots, etc.
- Head-up notifications have been improve (using Hover sources I guess)
- Ambient Display has been added for our device too (replacing peek at this moment)
- Quick unlock is enabled.
- Quicksettings' tiles reorder
- Inmersion mode with tile support
- OnTheSpot is now implemented, but there isn't any example of it.
- ParanoidOTA comes with the rom, but isn't functional right now.
- Another smalls changes and improvements.
- CM12 Theme Engine
- Linked volumes and expandable volume panel
- Added a standalone File Manager
If you want to check all the new stuff of every build please visit gerrit. It works fine with TWRP and also multirom.
All the builds like build 4 or newer, will be compile from sources, without adding any feature, so they will be clean builds. I will try to get new ones every month until the team release their own ones, so enjoy them, and if you like my work, click Thanks #StayParanoid

What's the problem?
Thanks bud!
Wooohooooo!!! It's finally coming!! :cyclops: Thanks for the build
many many MANY bugs with this...rotation does not work...even messes with rotation apps. Reboot menu only has reboot...no recovery or bootloader option. LTE 100% does not work...switch it on and loose data altogether. Rom will not flash in TWRP 2840...something about symlinks.
That's all I found before I got fed up and restored my factory backup. Seriously, thank you for taking the time to build and share this...I'm appreciative of that, believe me. This is just as far from usable for a daily rom as I've seen in a long time is all.

It's a shame that it has all this problems, but you have to remind that this is an alpha version , and for example you can find in gerrit patches for LTE that are in state of review, so if you want I can cherrypick them in next build.
About the powermenu options, you have to enable developer-settings, and there you will find an option to enable advanced reboot menu.
Finally with the build I will compile this saturday I will see what de can do to avoid the errors with the recovery, and also I will check the rotation.

Thank you. I totally understand it's a first build in early stages. I wasn't trying to beat you up...the problems could be in the source. I just wanted to let everyone know this shouldn't be expected to be a daily just yet, so they don't go in with high hopes and have them killed when all these things start going wrong. There are some builds that are definitely suitable as daily drivers as first-draft alpha builds, so it wouldn't be that surprising to find this one to be one of them, but unfortunately it's just not.

That's good to hear...would you please tell us what version of twrp you used? I tried 2840 and got the symlink error. I reverted back to 2820 since that's the newest I had stored on my pc and it flashed.....but with all these bugs I listed. Maybe it's not flashing properly still???
I had native rotation on and it didn't wok, so I downloaded Ultimate Rotation Control ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en ) which works fine for me on 5.0.1 factory image....it was missing several rotation options with this rom, and the only option that worked was manual, which consists of a notification widget and clicking the angle of rotation you want, in order to change it....and it locks to that position. Like I said, maybe it messed up flashing...it definitely had some real issues. I'll try again and report back

Official CM-12.1 for Nexus Player (fugu)

This is for discussion of the official nightly builds of CyanogenMod 12.1.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash this rom. Please see https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images for information on unlocking your bootloader and restoring back to factory firmware.
You must have a custom recovery in order to install this rom. Please see this thread for more information. cm-recovery-nexus-player-fugu
You can either put this on your nexus player internal storage or use adb sideload to install.
This is a hybrid rom. Once you finish setup you will see a popup to choose your launcher. Choose "Home" if you want the default leanback ui, or choose Trebuchet if you want the full android launcher and settings.
Note:
The Nexus Remote if fully supported. If you use the LeanBack gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically at first boot. If you choose to not use gapps or use other gapps, just press the bottom button to initiate pairing.

I have included Google+, Gmail, YouTube, Hangouts, and Search as they don't show up in the market currently.
Modified the updater script to enable the navigation bar and set the default density to 240. Patch is still pending to enable the status bar, so currently there is no status bar even with full gapps.

Yes sir, if you use the leanback gapps it will go through the pairing tutorial automatically, if you don't use gapps or you try other full gapps (make sure they don't have maps), then just push the bottom button to initiate pairing.
It runs good, fast and smooth. As you mentioned mic is not working. Another issue so far, when you uninstall an apps it doesn't remove/uninstall. Thanks for your great work. Nice to see someone is working on nexusplayer.

I noticed the uninstall failure last night too. I'll try to logact and see what's wrong.
EDIT: Uploading a new gapps package had to remove the CanvasPackageInstaller.apk and just let the regular PackageInstaller take care of it
Hello, thanks for building this and the recovery. I dirty flashed this over stock and it's working good , it seems snappier than stock . Live TV through kodi plays better now , it wasn't very watchable before, even the HDhomerun view app plays the video better .. Thanks..
Hello, your cm20150420 build will not install , I get , signature verification failed . so I reflashed your build from 0419 and new gapps to fix the apps not uninstalling problem. Thanks..
I got that as well figured it was my fault... Is there a link to the older build?
Hey @dhacker29 !
I'd like to thank you for this, and at the same time ask if we had access to LeanBack App source, or if you are adding them in post-build?
Also, would you at all be interested in taking a look at creating something similar to this for the ADT-1? (The developer box that Google sent out after IO in 2014). We have ADT-1 kernel source, & a repacked CWM Recovery, but no device tree, which makes Custom ROMs fairly hard to do.

Unfortunately Google shipped the leanback launcher as a prebuilt in the proprietary blobs package so no source to modify there. Without having the adt-1 it would be hard to build a device tree. What are the specs? Processor graphics chip etc

That sucks.
Spec list here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2jlz3z/the_developer_adt1_vs_the_nexus_player_vs_amazon/
Note: they say that some have the Tegra K1, but I've had a few, and friends have a few, and I have only seen Tegra 4's.
I had previously heard of extracting a device tree from a boot IMG I don't know if that still applies, I'll try to find a link.
Its pretty awesome actually compared to the NP. If you want one, jut Google it, and fill out the ADT request form. When they ask what you will do with it, just fill I'm something like "security research/app developement", and with your history, you are bound to get one. I have links to self made CWM images, but I doubt they'd help you much. I can also provide system dumps, etc. Just let me know if your interested.

So far I installed and used the full gapps package. I found no status bar or navigation bar, and the cursor has a black box at times. Runs good though, remote to, except for voice. Using trebuchet to play with it. Are you planning on adding status bar and navigation in or do you advise using the leanback launcher? I liked using my mouse to navigate while i was on lollirock, but can't because of this and can't go backwards from most screens.

The statusbar should be present if you used the full android gapps. Also, if you want soft keys, add this to your build.prop
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Then reboot.

Brief Discription and History of the Team:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days, it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). However, many others have joined the project since and it has grown a lot. We have seen a wide variety of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone on to help other projects, and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base, which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. With that said, it has been an awesome learning experience and it's still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I too installed DU, and liking it very much so far. Everything seems to work, and snappier than earlier versions of CM12.1
I'm not sure this has anything to do with your AdAway app problem, but FYI, this ROM has a built-in Ad Blocker. It's under settings, Dirty Tweaks, System.

i know about it... but the build it Ad Blocker, always failed to Update Host file....
thats why i use another app...
is it at yours the AdBlocker works just fine? it able to download data and update host file?
You are correct. The built in app hosts update fails.
AdAway works, but is disabled after a reboot.

hmm so whats wrong?
its happend in LuquidSmooth too...
but works well in cm12.
Guys this issue has been brought up on G+ and Alex replied back that the reason it is failing is to many people are trying to update at one time. Try again later and it will update. Adaway tries to apply the host files but yeah it don't stick because this ROM has its own. So if you use this feature use the built in one.

Kick ass ROM man. Thanks!
I'm having lockscreen issues that are making this barely usable. Whenever I turn the screen on to the lock screen, it is unresponsive. I can turn it off and back on and the lock screen is translucent, then off and back on again, and the lockscreen is responsive again. However, about every other time, the lockscreen will become unresponsive again, and will restart the system UI, which takes around 30-40 seconds. Other than that, the ROM is mostly good. It is a bit choppy on mine at times (I am on KKBL), but usable. Is there any future for incorporating kernel controls into this ROM? I have setCPU, which has allowed me to change some parameters that made it a bit smoother (it was VERY choppy at the beginning), but this is a very difficult daily driver for me at this point.

I will have to play with my xt926 a bit more to see if I can duplicate your lockscreen issue... As far as CPU control. I use Kernel Auditor from the PlayStore. Well worth the donate version,

I fixed mine by installing CM 11 first. Wiping, then installing DU.

I've been running it a couple of days, and I've experienced some delays with the lock screen opening as well.
Not quite as bad. Just locks up for a second.
GPS isn't working.
eta: not ROM related
Thread search fail (XDA contact form fails too?..)
(.. So posting thread draft fail here?)
Pretty simple "Adaway" keyword search in a thread ..
