[APP] DSP Manager 5.0.2 for Angler - Nexus 6P Themes and Apps

Fellow XDA members, I have made a flashable zip with my favorite dsp app that works with Nexus 6P.
I pulled out some files from CM13 and packed it with dsp 5.0.2 and now I’m going to share it with you.
This will write in /system
This package should work with all roms. No guarantees though, remember to back up your system first.
Working:
Bluetooth dsp
Headphone jack dsp
My setup:
Stock ROM MMB29P
Kernel: Franco r7
Recovery: latest TWRP
SuperSU 2.66
Busybox (might affect install script in recovery)

Do i have to flash it in recovery?

No you do not have to do that if you already aren't using an equaliser such as audio fc or Viper
Cheers ?

Will this work on nexus 6?

Did you clear cache?
What is FC:ing? If it is dspmanager.apk then just delete it from /system/priv-app/
Or just restore the backup you made before flashing...
If you didnt and want a clean setup then dirtyflash your current rom
Hope this helped :/

Does it have any negative effect on the battery?

Well, I bit the bullet and flashed it...No FC's, but I can't tell any difference on any of my apps (YouTube, NetFlix, Shuttle+, ect...). My Main audio player is Poweramp, it has it's own EQ that over-rides system EQ's.
I'll mess with it more later and see if I can get it to work?
ROM: Screw'd 2/5/16 build
EX kernel: 1.0.8 build
No other mods (no busybox or Xposed).

UPDATE:
I messed around with it and It's working on a couple of my audio apps, but not YouTube or NetFlix (that I can tell).

Intresting, i only use the dsp for audio apps (actually, only spotify) and i have never thought about the effect in video apps..
Does the equalizers usually work with video apps?

I can't say whether EQ's work with video apps, since the 6P doesn't have one included in the ROM.....But on other phones I've had, yes it does.
I know the Dolby Atmos + Viper mod works system wide, including video apps. But there is somewhat of a slight battery drain - and it works until I use PowerAmp, then it won't work again until I reboot my phone.... I like PowerAmps EQ better and have some presets saved, so will continue using that over any system wide EQ/DSP.
It'd just be nice to have something that works on video (YouTube, Netfilx, ect...)

[Q] DSP Manager crashes when i turn on equalizer!

Hi! First of all thanks to this wonderful community for this wonderful forum. I am a noob really i searched and didn't find this issue for my device so i decided to post it. :cyclops:
Actually the problem i am having is that DSP manager crashes saying "Unfortunately DSP Manager has stopped working" ONLY and everytime i enable equalizer ( dynamic range compression, virtual room and bass works fine). It just won't start again so eventually i figured out that you have to clear cache from apps but still it won't run equalizer i need to run the preset rock equalizer because i have been using it for a long time and am used to it.
The dsp manager isn't originally available in my ROM only Beats audio is so i zipped the extracted version from CM 9 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425973. Can anyone help me with it?
I am using Nik's Project X Rebirth v3.6, clockwordmod recovery and i updated my kernel to kangaroo r22 to oc my cpu to play games, another thing i wanna ask while i am at it, is it safe to oc to 1.4 ghz? Fifa 14 lags if i don't oc it is there anyway to solve it, chainfire isn't available for ics so there is no way to reduce quality of pixels. Is there anyway i can play high end without overclocking and lagging on my IncS?
Dude, DSP is only for CM.. Porting DSP to sense is like porting Beats Audio to CM. It does not work...
Press "thanks" if I helped you out!

Which files did you took out of that CM9 Rom? If you only took the apk, it can't work, because it needs some files stored somewhere I don't know So use beats audio or move to another Rom or use a third party music player which has an integrated Equalizer.

[Q] ViperAudio and CM11 [KitKat 4.4.4]

Hi,
Since my tussle with Google didn't yield any meaningful and relevant result, I am posting a new thread to gather cues.
I got CM11 latest nightly installed (actually I tried quite a few since June) and it does not seem to like Viper Audio. The drivers gets installed but never processes audio samples. I even tried installing it as a system app but no success.
Annoyingly, ViperAudio works fine on my Asus Transformer Infinity running on CM 11 same build - just as a system app! Just as it should. It also works fine on Z1 stock ROM.
I checked build.prop to see if any LPA decode settings are in place. None - as expected for any AOSP ROM. The inbuilt DSP manager works but not quite what I want.
So, now I am here seeking help!
Thanks in advance,
Soumya

Hi,
No, I do not use DSP Manager - I find it's under-powered in every aspect. One of the main reasons for using ViperAudio is using Convolver.
Did you get ViperAudio to work with latest CM11 build (KK 4.4.4)? If yes, how?

[HOW-TO] Installing Viper4Android (V4A) Audio on a Lollipop Tab S [Updated May 12th]

UPDATED: Updated V4A flash file to Viper4Android v2.4.0.1 and added notes about the TabS AOSP Marshmallow custom ROM compatibility by Schischu.
The obligatory warning:
"I take no responsibility for what happens to your device if you follow this guide. This procedure works with multiple Audio/Video apps. It should work for any Samsung device, but I can't confirm, so feedback please if it works for your device."
- 3DSammy
Root with SuperSU is required either using a standard rooting method that trips KNOX or following this guide "[GUIDE] How to root without tripping knox - Kitkat and Lollipop, Locked bootloader" by ashyx. Having SuperSU installed and functioning is essential to get around Viper4Android's need for SELinux permissive mode which is not possible when you are using the Samsung stock firmware.
As of June 8th maximumentropy posted a method to use SuperSU to work around Viper4Android's need for SELinux permissive mode. This requirement was problematic on Samsung devices where the SELinux mode changer app did not work with the Samsung stock firmware.
The instructions and flash files below will allow both custom ROM and rooted stock ROM devices to install Viper4Android, an amazing audio replacement.
Note: V4A and the included flash file works with the AOSP Marshmallow custom ROM compatibility by Schischu. Any of the SoundAlive comments below can be ignored for this custom ROM.
Steps:
1) Download the two flash files "ViPER4Android-supolicy.zip" and "LolliViPER_TAB_S.zip" (at the bottom of this post)
2) Flash ViPER4Android-supolicy.zip and LolliViPER_TAB_S.zip with FlashFire or a Custom Recovery (e.g. TWRP) of your choice.
3) If you want Spotify to work and maybe other audio/video apps then Samsung's "SoundAlive" must be removed or disabled. Options:
Backup then freeze or delete "SoundAlive 2.0" with Titanium Backup
Backup then delete the "/system/priv-app/SoundAlive_Tablet_20" directory with a File Manager that has RW "/system" privileges
Remove "SoundAlive" with an app like "System Remover app" found on the Playstore
4) Reboot your device and then start Viper4AndroidFX and install its drivers when prompted then reboot once more
5) Start the Viper4AndroidFX app and configure audio for the device speakers/headset/bluetooth as desired. Please refer to Viper4Android XDA forum for details about the extensive options.
NOTES:
Be aware that if you do not disable/remove SoundAlive then Spotify will disable V4A until the next device reboot. Causing confusion about whether V4A is actually working reliably. Other audio apps may also demonstrate this tendency.
If you check the V4A driver status and audio is not playing the status will show "Processing: No" that should change to "Yes" when audio is playing and V4A is working correctly.
A Rule-of-Thumb with V4A is to make sure to turn off any Audio/Video player app's specific equalizers, gain controls, audio effects, ... etc, as they interfere with Viper4Android. If you still cannot get Viper4Android working with a specific app, that's not listed in this thread, then search first then if necessary ask on the V4A's XDA forum.
So far the following Audio/Video apps have been successfully tested with V4A:
Neutron audio player (Settings and uncheck Equalizer;Sound Sound;DSP-Effects->Surround Sound;Relay Gain;Normalization)
MX Player Pro (Settings->Audio->Volume Boost unchecked)
Spotify (If it is working properly the Spotify->Settings->Equalizer will directly display the V4A app)
TuneIn Radio
Google Music Player
PowerAmp (PowerAmp Settings->Advanced->Uncheck everything)
YouTube
ViralPro (a YouTube alternative)
Apps that do not work with V4A (likely due to the removal of "SoundAlive"):
Samsung's "Music" app (still plays audio but not by utilizing V4A processing)
Please post any apps not mentioned here, which you either get working or that have problems with after checking the V4A XDA forum.
If you have SuperSU working and have never tried V4A do so and you ears with thank you!

Hi and thanks a lot for helping others out with the notoriously difficult to install viper app.
I presume the supolicy zip is intended as an alternative to setting selinux permissive. Any negatives to using one method over the other?
Also, can you please explain what your application zip does exactly. Does it just install the original viper as a system application or did you make any other modifications?
Thanks!

Either method of getting V4A permissive mode will work but if you rooted and maintained KNOX the stock bootloader blocks SELinux from setting permissive mode so the supolicy is your only alternative. Besides I read a comment from Chainfire who indicates that using permissive mode system wide is poor security practice. On my Nexus 5 which is running marshmallow I found all I needed was two supolicies to get all my root apps running and they were for V4A and stickmount.
The supplied V4A flash file installs V4A in /system/priv-app, sets permissions and attempts to delete two apps that the stock Samsung firmware does not have. Those audio apps are in the Google stock firmware and do no harm as there is nothing to delete. The flash file is based off one for V4A on a Nexus 5. I choose to not delete the Samsung audio app as some people may want to back it up, besides I documented three ways to deal with that app.
I hope you enjoy V4A.

Yes the app works on KitKat but the directory structure for apps on /system changed. I'd suggest going to the ViPER4Android XDA forum and searching for KitKat installs. That forum link is in the OP (first post).

viper4droid not working

can any one tell me viper4droid is not working in my custom rom resurrection remix 6.0.it is in selinux permissive mode.in viper4droid i tried forcing it but nothing actually happens.I only able to use viper4droid setting but it does not change sound quality or u can say its not working when i off it or not no sound change.
The sound quality change is minimal really. Not even really noticeable. However, when you play with the EQ and other settings, you can notice a difference. I like bass so I boost the bass by as much as 15db and it's awesome. Works great. But I am also not using the rr ROM. I'm using computer Creek's lollipop ROM. Same thing though.

Also, there are a couple versions of v4a floating around, and some work better than others. When I was using RR 6.0, I used the ViperAtmos 5.5 Sony Beats Edition from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/viperaudio-viperatmos-3-8-sq-driver-t3289075

AFAIK the only way to uninstall would be to dirty flash your Lineage OS ROM (reinstall Lineage without wiping your data. Just wipe your Cache and Dalvik Cache). This should keep all your apps and settings intact but remove V4A and ARISE and reinstall the stock drivers that come with Lineage. In my case I also had to reinstall Magisk.
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:05 PM ----------
This doesn't work for me on LineageOS for MicroG 16 (Google Pixel XL 'marlin'). ARISE crashes, and V4A tells me I need to reinstall the driver every time I open it. After reinstalling, it tells me I need to reboot. After I reboot, I tells me I need to install the driver again and this loop just continues forever.
Unluckily here doesn't work and crash all the time.
I guess no way to uninstall, right?
I am on latest havoc os for mido...

Dirty flash of Rom should remove the mod. But don't you have any remnants of other mods left? Something like that caused crashes to me some time ago. Additionally, I had to remove Audio Modification Library from Magisk to get this work.
