Flashing MIUI LP beta rom correctly - Xiaomi Redmi 2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey folks!
Requirements:
MIUI Global LP Beta Rom v6.1.28 (Google it)
Updated TWRP by Kuma (http://en.miui.com/thread-221428-1-1.html)
Minimal ADB tools (like adb.exe, fastboot.exe etc)
.bat files attached in the post
Procedure:
Extract Bat files.zip. This has .bat files.
Rename recovery file to recovery.img
Extract boot.img from rom zip
Copy .bat files, recovery.img and boot.img to ADB tools folder
Boot into bootloader and connect deive to PC.
Double click/Run on flash_recovery.bat file. Once done, the device will reboot to TWRP recovery.
[Optional] Restore old MIUI back if any.
Flash rom zip
[IMPORTANT] Reboot to bootloader
Double click/Run flash_boot.bat file. Once done, the device will reboot.
Disconnect device from PC.
Done.

Happy flashing:good:

how boot into bootloader?

i have more simple guide...
just download miui lp rom.
now put it in sd card
now update your device to miui 7.1.1.0 version stable version.
now go to updater app and choose update package of 6.1.28...wait till process end...
and your device is running MIUI lp...
i am using it and no bugs till now...

boot into bootloader: power off, press and hold power and volume down button
flashing with updater app doesn't work for rooting...so need the TWRP

I am just curious will it lock the bootloader? I heard there was some 64-bit-32-bit conflict.

Can anybody give me link for lp 6.1.28 rom and what kind of problem I'll face if flashed with stock recovery.

no, in this bootloader is not locked.
And this update changes recovery partition.
And it is 32bit lp. If we get 64bit it will lock bootloader

recovery partition is changed.
And there are less roms which supports latest partition.

for redmi 2 ver6.1.28 is kiktkat based...
and for redmi 2 prime ver6.1.28 is lp based...
i can't tell u about redmi 2...but in redmi 2 prime the partition between recovery and system is changed.
so from now if u want to flash recovery u need that updated kernel from miui lp in that recovery...and same kernel will be used in the custom rom...

Xiaomi Developer ROMs are delivered through flashable zips and through fastboot images, maybe look into the second option. Be aware that Xiaomi ROMs might replace the Recovery upon boot, if that isn't included in the fastboot image already, which I think is likely, and take a look into potential partitioning hazards.
Edit: To be extra helpful, here's the thread http://en.miui.com/thread-149081-1-1.html
I failed while flashing miui 7 stable on cwm r11, btw miui 6 worked for me everytime even on extended partition.
So I'd say no

which version of twrp are you using
Yes really, twrp is version 2.8.5.0 . To repartition i used cwm recovery, then i changed to twrp.
When i tried to flash miui v6 with twrp i failed, then i changed to cwm recovery, and then i flashed. Try like this if twrp makes failed flashing.

what about miui 7 did you flash it with cwm too
I also faced same issue, I found workaround for it from MIUI forums.
1) Go to recovery and wipe all (except internal storage)
2) Flash MIUI rom
3) You will get error, now just go to reboot and select recovery
4) flash rom again (without wiping) and it should work
Using latest TWRP

Yes twrp-2.8.7.0
I am on stock partition now. I think it should work with extended partition as it worked for me in the past when I tried MIUI 6. Its only the update which you will need to flash using recovery. Give it a try.
Yes i flashed with twrp recovery, it was working. First i flashed stable miui v7, then i reflashed with stable rooted version of miui v7 stable. so 2 times flashed v7 with twrp on extended partitions. I have mi4. but it should work as it is cancro

Treble ROMS/P20 Pro Stock Camera app

As we know we have a few treble Roms available for our device. But they are not stable at all in terms of the camera.they could be faster and smoother than the stock 7.0.
20 mpx Huawei mate 9 camera has a lot of features but those Roms lack that privilege.
Actually, we have a great Nougat Roms as well. Which I prefer - fromfuture-.
I'll be using this stock rom until a new AOSP 8.1 or RR Remix will be released.

I have RR and rooted though Magisk with SafetyNet passed.
All in all it's very nice, sometimes my phone makes noises even if it's in "Not disturb" Mode. But that only happened twice till now.
Everything else works! GPS, Wifi. 4g, Bluetooth etc. Only Android Auto doesnt work for me, but that's not that important.

So fromfuture is Nougat based?
Then you need to upgrade to Oreo first. Just search the forum, there are several Guides.
After that extract the stock boot.img, kernel.img and recovery_ramdisk.img from your stock rom using Huawei Update Extractor (settings->uncheck checks)
Than simply flash the three Images through fastboot on your phone and do a Data Format + Cache Wip ein Stock Recovery.
Than flash RR Rom with fastboot flash system and Twrp if you want.

If you have your data backup already you can easily go to RR and back to Stock if you want with this method.
First you need to unlock your bootloader with the code you will get/got from Huawei. See here.
1. Go to firmware database and find your stock firmware (which you are using atm)
2. Download the FullOTA-MF-PV (click on "update" to download) and unzip it.
3. Download Huawei Update Extractor
4. Open Huawei Update Extractor and go to settings --> Disable both checksum boxes
5. Import your update.app File
6. Mark kernel.img, ramdisk.img and recovery_ramdis.img and rightclick -> Extract Selected
7. Flash them trought fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
fastboot flash ramdisk ramdisk.img
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdis.img
8. Go to Recovery and do a factory reset and cache wipe
9. Flash your RR rom system.img with
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
10. Flash TWRP if you want
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
Get TWRP here: https://mega.nz/#!pT5lRA7Y!G5DhJdsR-...fHGzN8OOu9aCko or here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-oreo-t3734967
11. Reboot
12. Optional Root with Magisk 15.4 (see here) --> Simply flash the zip in TWRP and install Magisk Manager App (if you fail in SafetyNet Test flash after Reboot this in TWRP)
13. Update in Magisk Manger App directly to Magisk 16

Ok my friend but there are another thing I didn't get my model from the list my model is MHA_L29C158B370 so where should I look for it?

Guide to install Android 8.1 or 9 custom ROM?

The question speaks for itself,I cannot find really any accurate ways to get started because I once tried to install Oreo beta (before official was out) and flashed a Oreo recovery onto Nougat and bricked my phone, and the only way was to use DC Phoenix so for now I have kept my phone on EMUI 8 stock.
So if anyone can tell me the steps to install let's say an Android 8.1 Treble ROM or Android 9 when it gets good as a daily driver,I know that you need to do the following things:
-unlock the bootloader
-install a recovery
-flash a ROM through fastboot or through recovery and after that flash Gapps and a modded version of Magisk
That is pretty self explanatory, but I have seen like that you cannot use TWRP since there is a problem when wiping data and that you need to have Huawei stock recovery and some important things to consider since I see it is pretty easy to brick these phones if you don't follow instructions but since there isn't really clear instructions to do some of these things,I am asking here if anyone can explain to me.
And yes,I do have my bootloader unlock code since as I stated,I tried to do this before.

Also, can I use NoCheckRecovery for Oreo when I need to wipe data instead of stock recovery since I think it would come in handy if I would need to re-flash something through that without Huawei checks and it seems to be easier to find?
And I flash the recoveries to recovery_ramdisk,just to be sure,I know some things did change with Oreo so I am asking?

Ok, it clearly says that that Rom is discontinued, read the last post.
Use a gsi from the treble enabled device development forum and flash it with fastboot (yesyou can use android pie 9.0 gsi's as well as long as they don't say sGSI on it.

Wow, if that ROM is discontinued I'll desist to install it then. So I'll try to install Lineage OS 15.1. You recommend it ? This is the post that I'm seeing https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...nt/rom-lineageos-15-1-hi6250-devices-t3811583

Pie gsi
Hi all,
I have installed Pixel Experience (Oreo) gsi ROM no problem. But if I try to flash any Pie gsi ROM it just goes into a boot loop. I flash system via fastboot and seems OK. Reboot and it just boot loops a few times and goes to the recovery screen that prompts to download and install the standard system.
Has anybody come across this or have any suggestions. I have tried a few different Pie gsi ROMs and same thing happens.
Thanks
Mick

I successfully installed Oxygen OS OEM GSI on the Mi A2 and it's running late flawlessly
Only bugs that I noticed are:
Fingerprint not working and faceunlock not working
Brightness is a bit ****ed up, but usable

0. I would recommend To Format Data completely and copy the files from your PC to the Phone then
1. Flash boot.img as boot img and vendor.img as vendor.img in TWRP
2. Flash the OxygenOS ABGSI as System Img
3. wipe Data
4. Flash FBE Disabler
5. Flash permissiver2 (don't know if this is nessesary but it did it)
6. Flash the Latest Hex Kernel by Draco
7. Flash Magisk
8. Reboot
And don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik always

Is possible I think, before change to pie, make sure .zip file of pie must include kernel. I guess recommend flash via miui recovery / TWRP and wipe data. Because update different version of Android, 8.1 to 9.0
I never try Pie because my Arb=4. U can try, if bootloop you can flash this stable version again

What will be ARB level after installing this MIUI 10.2.3 or 10.2.5 ODCCNXM ROM?
Currently I have MIUI stable stock ROM 9.6.6.0. If I upgrade it to 10.2.5.0, than can I downgrade to MIUI stable 9.6.60 again?
Thanks

You can I found the method in a Russian website, but the Bootloader will remains on 6X. But technically you can install AndroidONE again, btw for updating you need to use alternative ways. ( Due to the 6X Bootloader)

I tried but did not help. When I reboot system, MIUI 10 formats storage with encryption again. I tried following scenarios:
1) Opened TWRP and format data. Reboot system
2) Opened TWRP and format data. Reboot to TWRP again. Reboot to system
3) Opened TWRP and format data. Reboot to TWRP again. Flash magisk. Reboot to system
All has same affect. and TWRP asks password again and again.

Your Data partition can mount in TWRP?
if TWRP ask password, probably because install TWRP with active password lockscreen in system. When install recovery make sure deactive lockscreen pasword first
Try this recovery: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pitchblack-twrp/files/wayne/

I can't mount data partition in TWRP. TWRP asks for password. I did not flash TWRP. I just boot TWRP from fastboot when I need with fastboot boot twrp.img command. I tried pitchblack recovery but the result is same.
