[Kernel] NN-Kernel-LP-T710/810-5.1.1 - Galaxy Tab S2 Android Development

I don't consider myself a dev, but I think I'm a pretty good hack. So may I present to you.....
NN-Kernel
This will work on the T710 and T810, Wifi only models. I built this for my BNN Nook, and I haven't really come up with a name for the kernel yet. NN so far, stands for "No Name" Or "Neked Nook" which is the Rom that I might be releasing shortly.
You flash this at your own risk. There's the discaimer. :silly: V1.3 and up - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BURN UP YOUR TABLET! BE CAREFUL OF THE OVERCLOCKS AND KEEP THEM REASONABLE.
Install instructions:
You MUST HAVE ROOT and TWRP installed to flash this!!
It's built on Lollipop 5.1.1 - I have no idea what will happen if you flash this on anything else!!
Flash kernel then wipe cache and dalvic
Reboot and profit!!
What it has: (changelog)
V1.4
Synapse support - finally
Can UV now
Raised CPU voltages for higher CPU clocks
V1.3.1
I missed a line on interactive gov. Just the fix for it.
V1.3 - YOU FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! It may melt your face off!!! You have been warned!
OC Big/Little cores to 2.2ghz and 1.6ghz. These can still go higher if I let them
Added GPU step of 650. Can go higher if I can get an interface. For safety purposes
UC CPU's to 600 and 300mhz
V1.2
a lot of under the hood stuff
Removed fiops sheduler - had conflicts
OC Big/Little cores 2.1ghz and 1.5ghz
V1.1 - all of V1 plus -
New toolchain - Ubertc 4.9
FIOPS shceduler
V1
OH7 source
Selinux Permissive
Init.d support
Knox removed from ramdisk- Thanks BigBot96 for that tip
Enabled OTG - Untested
Multicore support enabled
Updated Frandom
Govs enabled- Powersave, Conservative, Ondemand - removed Userspace
Some optimizations
You'll need to use a Kernel tuner for the OC's and UV's. Use "Synapse" from the Playstore.
This is a Tablet, so I won't be adding things like I would for a phone.

I would think it should. But I don't know for sure. 710 and 810 share roms with just a build.prop adjustment from what I can tell. If you're brave, make a backup and flash it. Let me know if it works.

I know that this kernel is for the 710 but installed on my 810 and when booted the screen became unresponsive, flickering all the time. At second boot didn't pass from the Samsung logo. I had to restore from a backup.

Thanks for trying it though. When I get the 710 a little further, I'll probably do an 810 then since they're similar.

Thank you for your work!!

NN Kernel
Installed and working well. No issues so far.

If anyone can test OTG, I'd appreciate it very much.
I have an T815Y permissive kernel in testing right now - If anyone can get me the stock boot.img for OG5.
Edit:
NN-Kernel for the 810 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24407100847294095 @danyvw since you attempted already. Also @Nom Prophet
Bonus, you get V1.1 which is new toolchain and FIOPS scheduler.

Flashed the kernel. Lost root but flashed Supersu 2.66 beta thru recovery, this time everything seems to work flawlessly. Will continue reporting as time passes. Thanks!
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

I don't see any issues with the T810 kernel. Ran back to back Antutu benches before and after flashing and I got 67000 compared to the previous 63000 (if that proves anything). I'm running OptimalROM and didn't lose root after flashing. Will report back if I find any bugs.
Thanks Engine!

Finally something to flash lol

You will see two folders "Normal ROMs" and "Alternate ROMs"
Use the normal one if you are running: CM, AOSB, Slim, or Beanstalk.
Use alternate if you are running: Carbon or Omni
Since PAC adds its own custom frameworks, it will have its own version.
If you flash the wrong one, you will be stuck on the bootanimation. Easy fix, just go flash the other one.
Installation:
Flash in recovery.
Then flash SuperSU
Goals of this kernel:
The objective of this kernel is to have a kernel for daily use. It does not aim for best battery life, or best smoothness or best benchmark scores. It aims more for a good mix of all, not sacrificing stability and functionality in the end. With that being said, I am open to any suggestions and contributions, but I will only implement it in if it makes sense to me and does not hinder one's experience using this as a daily driver. Also, try to limit talk of benchmark scores because they do not accurately depict real life experience.

To Do:
Make sure it compiles with linaro and -O3 optimizations
BLN support
Check Boeffla sound problem
Doubletap2wake (low priority since our hardware limitations will cause it to have massive battery drain)
USB OTG
Touchwake(?)
Patch up to Linux 3.0.101
Dual boot (not sure since I don't use it much, but i may implement it in the future)

Yeah, I was planning to so flashable zips in the future. This first release is like a beta. I need to make sure all 3 variants work properly. You have the n5100 right? I heard from tejkkarani that it takes forever to boot so hold off on flashing for now. (Great if anyone else could confirm this) I'm going to take a look at it today.

I sent you a PM. Its recommended to use Heimdall, but that way might work. Try it. I'll try to get a flashable zip asap. Computer is compiling a new ROM right now so I'll see after that.
EDIT: The flashable zip should be available soon. I'm testing it on my n5110. Check your PM in a few mins.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Just realized that this kernel does not work on anything but PAC. Therefore, I will spend a lot more time testing before releasing again. Thread will be closed until further notice.
Thread re-opened. Figured out the problem faster than I initially expected. Downloads are up for the N5110. I have personally tested them on the ROMs we have. There are two different versions for now so please download the correct one. Enjoy!
FYI: N5100 builds will start shortly (approximately 12-24 hours from now or so), and N5120 will start a day or two after that.
Edit: N5100 should be ready now.
Using on CM 11 (cm-11-20140226-NIGHTLY-n5100.zip) .. not bootloop for me. Works perfectly. As I have installed it just now cant comment on the performance or battery life. Using GravityBox (KK) with Xposed Framework. Didnt face any issues yet.
working with AOSB 1.3.0 on N5100 from 23rd February 2014 , no problem so far.

whoops, just checked the code. I forgot to enable it in the defconfigs (files and everything are all in place though). I'll enable it next release. And no its not, I'm going to change the name to DracoKernel in future releases. Currently, thats not too high on my priority list.
Edit: Boeffla sound may take a while. Enabled it but app isn't recognizing that the kernel has the feature..
EDIT! nevermind, i'm an idiot, lol. thanks for this kernel by the way! definitely kicks major ass!

[KERNEL][5.x]elementaryKernel v1.1

This is supposed to be a clean Lollipop kernel without hybrid updates. Most of the modifications will consist of added features like DT2W, SoundControl etc.
Features:
DoubleTap2Wake v2
Pocket Guard
SoundControl
LCD Kcal Control
FastCharge
Powersuspend v1.6
Intelliplug
Intellithermal v2
ARMv7 optimizations
Asynchronous Fsync
FIOPS I/O Scheduler
Interactive governor finetuned
Faux's Simple GPU Algorithm
GPU Overclock to 533 MHz
Notes:
This kernel is not for those who want a lot of customization settings. The kernel is already finetuned enough to work out of the box.
Everything is done this way because I compiled this kernel only for personal use. I decided to publish it because all the other kernels are using the old DT2W module and are having problems.
I'm not willing to add other governors, schedulers or features that I don't think will make a significant difference.
DoubleTap2Wake and Pocket Guard enabled by default
Pocket Guard turns off the touchscreen and the power button when the proximity sensor is covered to avoid accidental unlocks when the phone is inside the pocket and cuts off the power for the touchscreen after the proximity is covered for at least 5 seconds to avoid turning the touchscreen on and off continuously.
DT2W is optimized for low power usage
SoundControl has modified Quality preset already applied for those who can't afford Faux's app
FastCharge is not a module that can be turned on and off. It is a line of code inside the USB driver that sets the charging voltage to 1500mA on every compatible charger
MPDecision is disabled by default and replaced by Intelliplug
The kernel is using CM12 ramdisk. If you encounter incompatibility problems with other ROMs, you will have to unpack and repack the ramdisk by yourself.
Changelog:
1.1
Force SELinux Permissive mode for Xposed compatibility
Add GPU Overclock to 533 MHz
Add Faux's Simple GPU Algorithm

Fixed upload
Sorry for the delay. I fixed the upload. I don't know what happened.
By the way, I didn't test but I don't think it is compatible with stock lollipop. I tested it on CM12, SlimLP and AOSPA and it works.
Works on stock ROM 5.0.2 on a XT1032?
Thanks this time I could flash it hope battery drain will be ok ...I'll report later
Wroking fine
please only add GPU overclock to 550mhz
Does it works on stock 5.0.2 brazilian ?
ATTENTION TO EVERYONE!!!!
NO, this kernel DOES NOT WORK ON ANY STOCK OR STOCK BASED ROM! IT is impossible because a kernel for stock rom needs to be compiled from motorola's kernel source, and motorola didnt release any source for lollipop yet! Please stop asking if this kernel works on stock because it doesnt and don't even try to flash it because you're only gonna end up with a boot loop! THANK YOU!

I have a question @alin.p, would it be possible if you add a setting to completely disable the power button except for rebooting? Im asking this because i wanna force myself to use s2w and s2s but i always just use the power button. I'm just asking if that would be possible, not telling you to add it

Look I was using DN5 first is awesome but it has some bugs and when it comes to battery I was loosing a lot! So I decided to change to sixperience, that's when I started using 3mint battery that looks great also I liked a lot the sixperience settings app it's really complete w/few little non important bugs but the battery drain was exactly the same! No matter what I used I was getting like 2h SOT...
Currently I'm using the settings I posted and so far I am really happy with the results also Erobot rom is not a full note 5 ported rom so you basically get the best out of both sides!
If you are like me and love the note 4 looks but also you want to have the best functionality in your phone without having to flash 20 zips that might break it then I suggest you try Erobot so far I'm very happy also Suemax + Erobot is crazy fast and great!!!
***This is just my opinion & don't get me wrong I think sixperience & Dn5 are amazing projects!! But I think for now Erobot has less bugs because is not a full ported rom.. basically you get what the developer knows is fully working...
Big thanks to the developers of full ported roms for getting those settings in our note's
Again this is just my opinion so I might be wrong in some stuff! Hope it helps and remember you can do a NANDROID backup try other rom and if you don't like it restore...
Srry for the long post..
I'll give a try.
Thank you.

Interesting can you please share a little more information about mods or settings you have
Yes . I , too , stole them from someone . I must mention that thwse settings may not suit you personally so i advice that in time you can make your own profile after your needs:
-A57 underclocked to 1.5mhz
-HMP Up thresholds up to 850
-I/o schedulers both cfq and set to 256kb
-Disable adaptive LMK in memory ( it s still an issue that kills apps in my case n910C- if no issue let it default)
-in Display , LCD power reduce >on
-advanced>wireless wakeclock timeout control set to 2 and the other 3 disabled , enable gentle fairy sleepers, Disable arch power, input boosters >all 3 off
Hope that helps I'm still waiting for stable version of 1.5 so it would be perfect

[Kernel] Elizium (Oreo) V1.1

Hi there..
Here is my first custom kernel for Huawei P10plus (Oreo)

Permissive
Add Governor (impulse, blu_active, darkness, bioshock)
I/O Scheduler (Zen, tripndroid, sio, sioplus)
(at the moment only with external storage)
Boeffla wakelock blocker
Instructions :
Backup your Kernel with twrp
flash kernel image with twrp and reboot
or
Flash with fastboot : fastboot flash kernel nameofkernel
Only flash the right version for your firmware or you got a bootloop and you can't enter twrp.
Download :

I can add more versions. Just ask
Have fun.

Thanks to @pappschlumpf @ante0 (hint for permissive mode)

Iirc I/O scheduler can't be set on internal, it uses blk-mq. So you somehow must disable blk-mq. However, I read that blk-mq is best used with flash memory.
B336 base of FF Rom- Kernel works perfectly and Selinux is finally permissive.
Great work!
B321 working fine.
Sorry for the ignorance, I'm a little new to the custom ROM scene. I've used most of the tools involved, but mostly flashing Google ROMs to Nexus/Pixel phones.
If I'm installing a ROM like this, would it be reliable enough for day to day use of the phone? The last time I tried a custom ROM it was pretty flakey, but it looks like things have improved a lot since then.
That's a kernel. Not a rom

It will work if you upload your stock kernel for me.

I need the kernel image and it's only for oreo.
Hi @Blackball,
I'm a Honor 9 user and would like to ask: is it possible to use your kernel on my phone, since I have Oreo build 360 (C432) too?
Or can I provide you something to try to make one for our Honor 9? Official Oreo kernel sources are available for H9, anyway.
Mine have bootloader unlocked and, even without TWRP, can use adb without problems
EDIT: here the dump of my stock kernel:

No, you need to also flash magisk right after the kernel

Cool, is it possible you could add support for HID devices/android_keyboard_gadget? (Nethunter HID attacks)
I'll be waiting for the US997 release

Happy to test for US997, it is my main device, but I've got TWRP and backups so I don't mind

Nice to see another kernel for our device. You wrote inOP that is based on v20A. Will it work well with 20c firmware? Hasn't LG updated the sources?
Thank you for your work

Running your kernel on my H870, V20C, so far so good, great work ?
Heya, thanks for the Kernel, I flashed over from Melina kernel - noticed less CPU governeei options - missing my old elementalx setting. Any plans to add more governor settings or have you tuned/optimised the interactive governor in the Kernel
