Rooting Guide for Beginners
Before you begin:
- This guide is only meant for Windows!
If you have a MAC, then use this guide.
-To obtain root on b609, follow this guide.
-Make sure you have your drivers installed!
If not then download hisuite.
- Some people have reported that they are unable to obtain the unlocking code, only getting a server busy message. It can be fixed by setting the webpage's
language to Chinese!
How to root?
1. Request for your bootloader code.
- (if you are registering a new account choose to register with email and when you register your account for the first time, it will redirect you to the main page, from there select "download" on the website and from there select "unlock bootloader")
2. Download Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
3. Enable USB debugging.
- (Activate developer mode by going to your settings, about phone, then tap on the build number until it says you are a developer) .
4. Connect your phone to your computer.
5. Install Minimal ADB and Fastboot, complete the setup and when it asks to create a desktop icon then accept.
6. Open Minimal ADB and Fastboot and then type: adb reboot bootloader
- (don't be frightened if you see a red text saying your phone is locked)
7. Then type: fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxxxx
- (replace the x with your code)
8. Download TWRP Recovery.
9. Copy twrp_p7-3.0.0-0.img to the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder.
10. After placing TWRP to the folder, type into the Command Window: fastboot flash recovery twrp_p7-3.0.0-0.img
11. Now type into the Command Window: fastboot reboot
12. Download SuperSU and place the zip to your phone.
13. Now type into the Command Window: adb reboot recovery
14. Flash supersu.zip in the recovery.
15. Reboot your phone.
16. Install "Root Browser" from PlayStore and delete the setimmutable.list in /root/system/
Now you should have a fully rooted phone!

Flash your stock recovery via adb or download flashify from the playstore and flash with that.

I get error when entering adb reboot bootloader. Should I navigate to some location when I open Minimal ADB and fastboot?
The error is: adb server is out of date. killing
adb server didnt ACK
*failed to start daemon*
error: unknown host service

Thank you it works like a charm
why delete 'delete the setimmutable.list in /ROOT/SYSTEM/' ?

You have to delete it because it doesn't allow editing of certain system files and because of that you can't have full root on your system until you remove it.

I just fixed that problem. Here's what i did:
1) have your phone ROOTED
2) install BUSYBOX from PLAYSTORE
3) install terminal emulator from PLAYSTORE
4)open Terminal Emulator and type in the following commands exactly:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cd system
rm –f /system/set_immutable.list
Check with X-plore if the set_immutable.list file is removed. Worked for me.

URGENT: HTC One m7 Developer Edition - No OS, only Bootloader and TWRP [SOLVED]

Hi guys,
Accidentally wiped the internal storage and system files, was distracted and on phone with someone else and messed it up. Didn't do a backup because I'm selling the phone and backed up all my stuff to PC before going with the wipe.
Current status:
-Tampered
-Unlocked
-S-On
-Hboot 1.44
-Bootloader with fastboot working
-Recovery TWRP 2.8.0.0. working
-Fastboot recognizes device
-Adb doesn't recognize device
-Have managed to push a stock TWRP nandroid backup for Developer Ediion by mounting. It sits along with the TWRP folder in /sdcard
-Tried RESTORE button through TWRP recovery, can't see the ROM.zip file
-Tried INSTALL button through TWRP Recovery, gets stuck at "updating partition details"
Please help me, thanks in advance.

You will need to unzip the nandroid backup and place it in the <serial #> directory for TWRP to see it. The nandroid backup folder needs to be in //sdcard/TWRP/BACKUP/<Serial #>/<Nandroid_folder_name>. You might also change to TWRP 2.6.3.3 it works best with stock roms.
Thanks, i can try this today. If its possible, can you put up a screenshot showing the exact filepath.. Or confirm if what I understood below is accurate.
/sdcard/twrp/backup/serial #/nandroid/<contents of zip file>
shabx said:

/sdcard/twrp/backup/serial #/5.11.1540.9 TWRP NANDROID

See attached pictures, this is the view from the zip. You see there is only one folder in the zip. This folder is extracted out of the zip and it becomes the folder that is placed in the serial # folder. The contents of the folder are shown in the second picture. The serial # is the serial # of your phone. If you don't know it then you can find it in fastboot getvar all.
One more thing. The mount function is very inconsistent. Out of 60-70 attempts.. It mounted only once properly and I could push the stock ROM to the phone. Is there a way to unpack the zip in twrp?

No, I don't think you can unpack the zip in TWRP. Just what is the file you are trying to move? Could you give the name and location where you got the file?
I got it from htc1guru database. Its the M7 TWRP Nandroid Backup CID BS US001 1.29.1540.3 .. Its for the developer edition which is the same as my phone..
Currently the phone only has twrp folder on sdcard.. And inside twrp, there's .twrps
. that's it.. I will have to create a new folder called backup, a new folder with their serial number as its name etc.

That file may not work with your phone it is pretty outdated. Can you post a fastboot getvar all (except for imei and serialno)? So, we can see if there is a better version or way to do the same thing.
Ok I will post the details when I get back home tonight.. Any other ideas? Anyway to get the adb working? I could then use revone for s-off and then RUU from desktop

ADB works in OS if USB Debugging is enabled and in custom recovery. In other words, the phone is in Recovery and attached to your computer you can run the command adb devices and you should see your serial number and next to it "recovery". If you are in FASTBOOT USB, only fastboot will work not ADB. Depending on your hboot you can use revone (hboot 1.4X), rumrunner (hboot 1.54) or firewater (hboot 1.5X) to achieve S-OFF.
Adb doesn't work. I tried adb devices and it would not return any values. Fastboot devices always gave the serial number but not adb. I have hboot1.44 and because of adb device not found I can't push revone too

This is an old method that I used to get S-OFF with revone:
Revone S-OFF on the phone methodRevone Download:
http://revolutionary.io/revone
Big thanks to the Revolutionary dev team. The original thread can be found here.
Written instructions:
 Download the Revone file above and transfer it to your phone (or download on your phone)
 Use a root file explorer and paste the file inside the /data/local/tmp folder
 Open a terminal emulator and type the following:
Code:
[B][I]su[/I][/B] (enter)
[B][I]cd /data/local/tmp[/I][/B] (enter)
[B][I]chmod 755 revone[/I][/B] (enter) (IF revone doesn’t work, type revone.bin)
[B][I]./revone -P[/I][/B] (enter)
 Reboot
 Open terminal again and type:
Code:
[B][I]su[/I][/B] (enter)
[B][I]cd /data/local/tmp[/I][/B] (enter)
[B][I]./revone -s 0 -u[/I][/B] (That would be a ZERO) (enter)
 Reboot
 That’s it! To get rid of the tampered, or relock, follow instructions below
To remove “tampered”
open terminal
Code:
[B][I]cd /data/local/tmp[/I][/B]
[B][I]su[/I][/B]
[B][I]./revone.bin -t[/I][/B]
These are other commands that you can fill in above to
-u – Unlock the device
-l – Lock the device (as if it was never unlocked)
-r – Relock the device (mark the device as relocked)
-t – Reset the device’s tamper flag.

Let's get a rom on your phone first. Did you have a rom that you wanted to put on your phone? It should be a Sense ROM.
Originally posted by @alrayHTC ONE M7_U/M7_UL - ADB PUSH & FLASH A ROM - DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer,
either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.
You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B]adb devices[/B]

Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms. Some other roms can be found here.
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
(if not using the official HTC USB calble, make sure
you are using a USB data cable and not only a charging
cable. Data cables have 4 contacts: 5V, GND, DATA+, DATA-.
Charging cable only have 5V and GND contact and will not work)
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes (5-15) and there is no progress bar, the command prompt will be unresponsive for that duration. When the command prompt is responsive again and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom

That file is a RUU rom zip for your phone. I believe you will have to flash it in bootloader like firmware. Your bootloader will need to be relocked.
Rename file to rom.zip and put in your fastboot/adb folder.
Put the phone in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB:
After that, type:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Code:
[B][I]fastboot oem rebootRUU [/I][/B]
NOTE: You should see a silver HTC logo come up on your phone after executing this command.
NOTE: if this command freezes, just disconnect the USB cable and hold the power and volume down buttons until the device reboots. Then, repeat the steps above again.
Finally:
Code:
[B][I]fastboot flash zip rom.zip[/I][/B]
Repeat the same command: IMPORTANT
Code:
[B][I]fastboot flash zip rom.zip[/I][/B]
NOTE: The green bar on the phone may not go to 100% of the bar ... but If you see completed on your computer command window, wait for a few seconds and move on.
Last Step:
Code:
[B][I]fastboot reboot[/I][/B]

Well, just tried it.. When i used the adb reboot bootloader command, the phone turned off and the screen where it says "Phone is locked" poped out. I freaked out, plugged the phone out, and restarted it . Is that supposed to happen?
Everything worked up until the step :
- Now you must delete the SetImmutable.list from System on P7!

I'm still not able to delete this file as it's protected. I would assume SU would ask me to confirm the rights to allow the filemanager to do it but it doesn't.
Any ideas?
Other than that, great instructions on installing the recovery and SU! :good:
EDIT:
Found the right post:
Here are instructions for installing VIPER4Android on P7
1) have your phone ROOTED
2) install BUSYBOX from PLAYSTORE
3) install terminal emulator from PLAYSTORE
4)open Terminal Emulator and type in the following commands exactly:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
cd system
lsattr
chattr -R -i *
rm –f /system/set_immutable.list
lsattr
After this set_immutable.list should be removed and you should have full access. Now you can install VIPER4Android
Work on my P7-L10

Erm, "Chinese dev" doesn't mean anything really. Don't you have a thread link, a github link, or anything in particular? It's almost like saying "Here an app", without really saying where it comes from. Kinda risky... Especially if it isn't the "Chinese dev" that shares it.
EDIT/// NVM, just was the source link... Sorry for that, was refreshing the wrong one...

I went to the source OP provided. It's 30 pages of people saying thanks...so I bit the bullet (after unlocking bootloader).
It works. Just flashed Magisk 13 beta using TWRP provided by OP.

I'm in the same boat, I like that it's done but the fact it isn't open-sourced and is provided by a sketchy Chinese version of a fake Oneplus site (take a look at the lack of SSL for example), I think I may hold off..
Thanks for sharing though OP, hope this might spark what we need to get the official version!

If I had OnePlus 5 I would have resolved the problem inside the twrp, but no device is impossible for me. A complete recovery will soon be released.
The recovery-from-boot.p is the file that restore stock recovery when you reboot your phone (It is in all android firmware)

did you restore your backup, after reboot . If yes, just uncheck boot when you restore and you dont need to format anything when flash recovery or kernel because these thing boot before system . For me twrp work good for me, the only thing is that i have flash supersu and when i want to switch to magisk, i delete all root on supersu app, and then impossible to boot on twrp, even after flash it with bootloader . The trick is to flash stock recovery from folder and then flash twrp .
Thanks

[GUIDE] Get official OTA download link + ota link collection

Before starting prepare phone:
1. Make sure your phone can still receive updates. You can also reinstall a fresh rom (with an older android version) by downloading it https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=14943124697586376728 and install by placing it in /sdcard/ota/update.zip and typing *#*#1027#*#* and clicking on "local update" backup your data and ideally do a factory reset BEFORE installing zip.
2. enable developer options on your phone (settings, my device, specs, click build number until developer options enabled)
3. go to settings>additional settings> developer options and enable usb debugging
Method 1 with ADB and PC (no root needed): (what i write in brackets is for windows users, i'm not using windows anymore so please correct me if sth is wrong)
1. Download SDK tools for your OS https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
2. extract the platform-tools_rxx.x.x-operatingSystem.zip and open the "platform-tools" folder in Terminal/CMD (win + R, type cmd, hit enter, type cd, hit space, drag the platform-tools folder to cmd, enter)
3. connect phone to PC
4. in terminal(CMD) run "./adb devices" ("./adb.exe devices") and make sure there is exactly 1 device showing up as "device" if there are more, disconnect your other devices from pc/shut down any android emulator
5. in terminal(CMD) type "./adb logcat > logcat.txt" ("./adb.exe logcat > logcat.txt"), do not hit enter yet
6. ON PHONE go to settings > my device > joyui xx > check for updates > start the update download and THEN hit enter on your pc

8. search the file for "blackshark.com/KLE" or "blackshark.com/", find the download link from official blackshark server and SHARE IT here or somewhere else in the community!! if there is no link, run adb logcat again (as in 5. but with hitting enter)
Method 2 with root terminal on device
1. make sure your device is rooted, a terminal emulator (like termux) is installed and BS did not block your updates
2. run update download in settings (method 1 6.)
3. while update is still downloading, open terminal emulator as root (type "su", hit enter, grant root permissions) and type "adb logcat > sdcard/logcat.txt"
4. after some min the logcat file is on your internal storage, continue at method 1 point 8

7. wait some minutes and open the logcat.txt file in the "platform-tools" folder you extracted in step 2
8. search the file for "blackshark.com/KLE" or "blackshark.com/", find the download link from official blackshark server and SHARE IT here or somewhere else in the community!! if there is no link, run adb logcat again (as in 5. but with hitting enter)
"RE-ENABLE OFFICIAL UPDATES"
If your updates are broken, backup all your data, factory reset (format data in TWRP prefered), install stock rom as in 1. in this thread
And there you have your official stock rom download.

Can you backup the ROM and give me link to download it? I need that global rom, i cant find Global firmware anywhere
There is a much easy way to get the link, work for root and non-rooted devices.
1. start downloading the package (you can pause after that), then it will create a folder called ota_package in the internal storage
2. go to that ota_package folder and copy "update_package_list" file to your computer then open the file with notepad or any text editor app
3. after you opened the file copy the file name starting with the number of the date (202119....... .zip)
4. then paste it to the link server:
https://ota-oversea-1256119282.file.myqcloud.com/KLE-H0/ (paste zip file name here) this link is for global package
http://cdn-ota.blackshark.com/KLE-A0/ (paste zip file name here) this is for CN package
after that you can follow the 1027 update procedure.
you have to have the stock recovery installed and match with the version of your system, otherwise it will give error 20 message.
