Accessing my Herald with Ubuntu

Dear all,
can anyone of you give me a hint how I could access at least the storage card on my Herald WM6. I would't even need to sync, accessing the files would be just fine. Untill now I've played with WiMo (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wimo/), multisync, opensync, synce.
I've not tried bluetooth as I don't have bluetooth on the PC.
What do I miss?. Wht have I overlooked? Do I miss a driver, protocol or module?
Thanks for your help
wm6 was designed with microsoft's vista in mind. So the first problem is that your wm6 device will require the latest activesync version on the computer. Most linux emulators don't work with this version and can't emulate the latest active sync.
The solution is to either wait for new emulators, revert to windows xp instead of linux, or downgrade the wm6 to wm5 wich is more compatible with these emulators.
Search for wm5storage on google.
It allows to export your pocketpc as usb mass storage so you can mount it on any OS.
Have fun.
Yeah, thanks for this.
This is a real recommendation and all that I wanted to have for now. I can mount the storage card with read/write access and I can manage my files.
Thx
Awesome... I'm glad you guys posted this, bc this had come to mind the other day and I was wondering if it was possible.

Windows XP on PDA =)

Hello i am new to posting on this site but a long time reader and i have a Xda mini S (wizard).
anyway
i have been looking around the internet because of a crazy idea in my mind.
The idea came to me yesterday after upgrading my rom to WM6.1 then to WM6.5
So am looking at WM6.5 and just am thinking wouldnt it be nice to have Windows Xp on my phone so can be like a portable laptop with calling and texting.
i saw some thing about it for a different pda i think
so was just wondering is it possible to upgrade the rom and install XP on a Xda Mini s.
Doesnt have to be like the Desktop version it can be a mini remake.
as long as its possible to flash it again afterwards if i change my mind about it.
Anyone have any ideas for me ?
An easy way to fix this is via citrix, or via vmware...
well you must be a retard to think xp run on wizard is no such thing runnning xp on a pda close thread please...

Maybe you should think outside the box a little before emphatically saying something isn't possible. Heck, 60 years ago noone thought it possible to carry around a phone withoutwires, or have a computer smaller than the size of a room.
hello,
i wanna say i had win 98.
but.... you have to change resolution with nyditot cause it isn't vga.
and on mine the mouse doesn't work.
just se this lik earlyer said http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362344
.
so goodluck i know it works cause i had it myself.
but as i said no mouse and slow.
just try it is great to see
also watch youtube there are movies about it.
Well, it is impossible to run Windows XP natively, because the architecture of the wizard(or any htc smartphone) differs from the pc architecture.
However, there are 2 ways to "run" xp on your wizard:
1) With an x86 emulator like bochs or qemu; you don't want that because it's even slow on a normal pc, and you still don't have sufficient RAM to run xp.
2) Run xp on a normal pc and use VNC or RDP to control it remotely(so you need a fast internet connection). I believe there an rdp app called "Terminal Services client" on a default wm installation, so I'd go for that one.
If you want to run windows to play games on your pda, I'd advice to forget it, vnc and rdp are not designed for such tasks...
Well, I dig this idea. any one with the know how should be able to port Tablet PC OS into an .nbf file with all the right drivers an stripped of all unnecessary junk ( a minimalist version) . If not a complete os than lookalike may be. May be i am dreaming big but someone should be able to help. I see ppl trying to port Linux/ android on wizard than why not XP?
The Omap processor (which is an ARM processor) isn't powerful enough to Emulate a x86 processor with acceptable speeds and memory to run XP on a wizard (even if XP has been stripped etc..).

Someone who wanted xp with specific drivers in for dell machines

Hi
someone on this forum wanted to know how to get windows xp with the right drivers in for a lot of dell pcs they were redistributing.
Basically an win xp setup disc with the right drivers for the pc they were installing it on. Instead of having to install the drivers separately.
So i found this link for who ever it was. it relating to windows 7 but may apple to xp as well:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ee530017.aspx

[Q] A Way to try windows phone without getting a new device

I need to try windows phone, i'm gonna get a one if i like it:cyclops:
The Web based windows phone is crap:silly:
i don't have a SnapDragon 200 or 400 so i can install windows phone 8.1 when it's out
and i have Windows 8 x86 but the SDK needs x64, i don't want to upgrade to x64 cause my RAM is Small
Any Help?????
I... can't even really tell what you're talking about. "Web based windows phone"? "i can install windows phone 8.1"?
Most stores in the US will let you try a phone for a while, and if you don't like it you can return it (sometimes there's a "re-stocking fee"). I have no idea if there's anything equivalent wherever you are...
i)If you have android...u can try with those wp launchers (although personally they are crap)
ii)Watch a lot of wp youtube videos and then sleep...xperience it in your dreams!!
iii)steal a lumia from anyone you know
iv)try it out at a store
v)dont drink bfore posting
You could try running the SDK on a virtual x64 Windows machine using Windows Virtual PC

Question Run Windows on it.
