Hey people!
I was thinking about to create thread where users could post their best photos taken with great P8 camera, so i decided to create one.
I hope this thread will be active and many of you will share your shots. Before we start, i would like to write some rules:
- POST PHOTOS ONLY TAKEN WITH HUAWEI P8 DEVICE
- IF PHOTO WAS EDITED, WRITE HOW IT WAS IMPROVED(PHOTOSHOP, SNAPSEED, ...),
- ENJOY!
Okay, here are some of mine:
1. no edit
2. PhotoDirector (small fix of color tone)
3. Snapseed, PhotoDirector
4. PhotoDirector, Photoshop (original was 4:3 so i photoshoped sky to fit into 9:16)

Love the camera
This is just a normal everyday pic without any changes to it.

A few more interesting ones!
One is a light graffiti and other is super night mode. Keep in mind the light graffiti was done using an iphone 5 torch and the supernight mode was really really dark...the street lights in reality are like a 10th of what you see in the picture. So I am quite pleased!

No edit, just normal photos

here is my photos, no filter.

My pictures
Just some pictures of a Xperia Z1 that im selling these are the photos I used in the ad
I am really impressed by the P8 camera. The other picture was the first photo I took on the phone.
The camera is so detailed. Am I correct in saying that the P8 has a Sony sensor?

Sent from my HUAWEI GRA-L09 using Tapatalk

Another picture I took surprisingly without super night mode.

Here are some photo's I have taken with my P8
This was taken during a thunderstorm, I used Light Painting, I kept it going for a full minute and this is what turned out...
here are some more -
From my resent visit back to New Zealand

here is one new from me, star tracking mode, more than 40min steady shot + Photoshop

What the hell, anyway people PLEASE, Try to not post every common photo you take, my idea was to create forum where posted photos are at least a bit artistic or more photography style, this was not supposed to be instagram like, thanks for understanding and I hope the class of this thread will rise, cheers!

i know this is not the best photos but i really like the huawei p8 super night mode capabilities...

with some touch of Snapseed or Lightroom (both free on Play) it should be very nice photo :good:

but original picture is good enough for me...

How long was each exposure? If I do more than 8s I get blue, red and white hot pixels appearing.

I don't know bro, as I wrote, it was star tracking mode so it was automatically setup, and it was recording about 42 mins, then I did big color corrections in photoshop, removed noise, that white dots you mentioned are appearing especially in super night mode what I tried

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Lenovo P2 come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I wonder what sensor the phone is using. The EU version P2A42 is using the Sony IMX258. But the P2C72 (Chinese global version seems to be using the Sony Exmor RS)?

Do you have any reference for that info? I didn't see any hardware specs that confirm it.
https://www3.lenovo.com/in/en/smartphones/p-series/Vibe-Lenovo-P2/p/PPIPPIP2C72
it says only Sony camera, but not which one :-/
here http://www.livemint.com/Leisure/JGS...amera-proves-just-megapixels-dont-matter.html it says that it is Sony IMX258
Photos taken by P2 are awful. They have lots of noises even on the lowest ISO and they lack details. Camera is the biggest disadvantage of this smartfone. But I love it anyway because of battery and performance.

Strange on kimovil there was other info. The chinese version had a Sony Exmor.
https://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/lenovo-vibe-p2,lenovo-vibe-p2-32gb
Now both are 1:1 the same.. Hmm. But yeah anyways my old phone had a better camera. I was kinda disappointed, and also the software is terrible. It's full of bugs, I will root this sucker soon.
The rear camera is imx258 and the front camera is a ov5695.

P2's low light camera performance can be noticeably improved!
If your P2 is rooted and you have enabled Camera2 Api, please try yourself a Snap Camera HDR app ( It's avaiable in a Play Store in both Trial and Pro version, you can also find pro version cracked, erm...let's say, in the Internet. )
I've found this guy's guide in the Redmi Note 4 thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/themes/google-camerawith-hdr-mido-t3656196/post74676264#post74676264. My phone is running the unofficial LOS 14.1 and...it really makes a diffrence.
Photos are being made for over a second and then about 10 seconds takes processing them (you can made another photo in the meantime).
All of these photos were made without any tripod, sometimes I sat down or leaned against the lamppost/wall but nothing really crazy(maybe 30 photos). Some photos are maybe a bit out of focus after close-up (EDIT: After seeing photos in the laptop I think that photos without "tap to focus" tend to be a bit sharper) and some of them are a little overexpossed after touch-to-focus (They don't after pressing the camera button without tapping to focus before), anyway you can play with a metering area setting(I wasn't), but...see it for yourself.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157690966808425/
The P2 didn't magically became the S8 or the flagship camera but in my opinion photos are acceptable now.
What do you think?

Have you tried the Google camera hdr app?
Yes, I have. HDR+ doesn't work.

Any tried the Nokia 8 with the Google Camera App?

As you guys probably know, this port of Google's Pixel app has been doing the rounds on XDA and various users report much better quality photos with it on Snapdragon devices.
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-updated-zero-shutter-lag-xiaomi/
Has anyone tried this on the Nokia 8? Does it work? If yes, could you post some sample photos and comparison with Nokia's own default camera app? I'm especially interested in low-light situations.
Thank you
yes, hdr+ is giving me awesome photos.
sadly we need to edit media_profiles.xml to add profiles for slow-motion and HFR.
can't alter the system for now as there is no bootloader unlock (thus no custom recovery or root).
Thank you.
I mostly care about HDR+ so that's great to hear.
Have tried the Google camera app and I believe at the moment I get better results. The Nokia software algorithms need some work I think.

I will update as further messing with the camera that the night shots with flash on with the pixel are shockingly bad. The flash is not working correctly. Pictures are not being lit up enough. It's a dual tone flash on the Nokia but with pixel APK, it's not firing the brighter flash

Which is the best version of this app to run on Nokia 8?
I think the ones linked here will be good:

This was a good post to get the history and to learn about the different versions.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/modded-google-camera-hdr-60fps-video-t3658552
I'd say start with the 3.8 (linked in post above, without any letter after it) version but 1.4-version will probably be fine as well.
Note to others downloading the file: The Android Download-app doesn't open APKs, you need to install a file manager app to open it.
So next question, which are the recommended settings in the app? In the 3.8 version there are tons of values you can select. HDR+ isn't enabled per default.
I tried on Nokia8 and I think no one notice that it has small color dots and line in every photo that process HDR at the bottom of picture. I tried every setting and still can't figure out how to remove. It's also appear in skip24ftlb's photo.
Seems ok the shots come out slightly better than nokia stock but the bottom of the photo has these blue and red bars (looks like some graph lines) on every photo that you point at a bright source of light and reduce the brightness on screen to absolute minimum. Happened on all photos that I took of the sunrise with heaps of bright orange clouds.
It stickout more when the bottom half of the photo is darker down the bottom.
Cheers

I tested with 1.4, 1.5, 3.7, 3.8, 4.0 and all of it happens. So i think there are no other options to avoid this.
Can someone share some pictures?
There are a lot of versions of GCam modded.
On HTC U11 topic, there's a large thread where many users are debating which is the best.
Can someone take a look how does it gets on Nokia 8?
Mine still not here. Maybe on the end of the month.

How did you get it early in the UK?
Did a quick walk through the local public garden.
https://www.flickr.com/gp/[email protected]/59wxZ8 album
For the images below I stood in the shade, focused on the tree in the centre, left everything on auto with the AI turned off.
I wasn't too impressed with the wide angle shot, though I didnt spend a lot of time messing around with exposure or shutter speed since I only had a small window of time to take photos.
This weekend ill go to the main city and do some nightshots.

How does the night mode compare to the P20 Pro? Some reviews show the P20 pro taking sharper and more detailed night shots (both night mode and dark scenes in normal) better that the Mate 20 Pro. What did you see when comparing the two
photos are really great i think, but what about the video recording ? I have seen some samples and i seems that video recording can become blurred, not sharp by just simple walking.. is there any alternative camera app without video quality problems or SW update will be needed ?

Feels like they also improved overall shutter speed. Pics of moving objects look better now.
What a massive camera-focused update even if the size of the build isn't that big - just installed it from a UK device.
I'm going on holiday tomorrow (to the coast up North) so I'll be sure to take a few zoom pics again and will upload some photos in the other thread.
The refocus portrait photo in Album now works for me.
There is a now an ultra stabilization in video for the ultra wide angle lens, you select ultra stabization as normal which uses the normal wide lens and then there is a new icon on screen called Super Anti Shake Pro (icon P) this gives you better stabilization than normal for the ultra wide lens.

Odd why some of us are left out. Trials are not made available on my phone.
Any idea why this is happening?
It would be hard to compare differences without a side by side comparison, before and after the upgrade.
Video stabilization seems improved, for the rest I don t see differences...

You need to catch the time window when update is available in trial. It might be a day, it might be an evening. After that you won't get it anymore, wait for main update channel.
And then, if you are absolutely sure trial is on right now, you sometimes need to check it repeatedly few times, 'cause server connection is usually poor when trial starts and everyone is downloading it. This time it took me like 10 minutes to get the update downloading.

Without asking too much I would assume that this is a camera fault.. I'm assuming you're using the default camera? You could try to use pro mode and just change the ISO to 1600 and have a longer exposure 5+ seconds.. It'll have similar results although I'd use a tripod for it so it's clear..
If that fails and you've already wiped then I'd say hardware.
You don't have any protectors on your lenses do you?

Personally I don't use AI unless I'm taking a picture of a document or something specific, for night shots you really can't beat the pro mode, I take astrophotography shots myself with my DSLR and if I tried to shoot using some kind of auto mode I know it would be crap in comparison, it's defo a faff on a phone but pro mode is the way forward..
Does the camera allow you to change lens for night shots? Use the sensor with the lowest f stop.
