Will XIAOMI dump the Mi5 in SEA region, again? - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

As far as I know, Xiaomi likes to dump their smartphones in the SEA region after a long period. The Xiaomi Mi4 was launched in that region about a year later since launched in CHINA.
Will it be the same again for Mi5?
Thanks

What do you mean dump? Lol

Xiaomi MI 6X in europe?

Hello everyone. First of all, I apologize if this topic is not in this section, since I am new to the forum.
I write because I'm considering the purchase of a Xioami MI 6X. I live in Europe, and I know that this phone is a Chinese version. As it is not yet known if the international version will come out (Xiaomi mi A2), I decided for this phone. Why?, because the design, processor, memory, etc ... I know that the REDMI NOTE 5 is very close but I still prefer the MI 6X. The question is, since I live in Europe, and this phone goes with a Chinese version, how difficult would it be to put an international ROM ?, that is, given that on the xiaomi website the international ROM of this phone does not exist, I can install a ROM of any other phone? or it is imposible? And second, is it so serious that it does not have an 800 band for 4G? I have seen that the phone have the other two European bands for the 4G, but not the 800.
Thanks.
The only European store avaible are in France and Italy but they don't have that version of the phone for the moment and maybe they will put it in the future because is recent, for the band this are the supported band: Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900). Becuse isn't avaible the 800 band I suggest to change the model to buy for another from the same producer but with the features that You need it.

Hi,
For this phone it exists a translated rom from xiaomi.eu for each european language, I'm french and I'm not yet decided to buy this phone but I think I will. 290 Euros 6G 128G red version.
Xiaomi.eu uses chinese developper version, debloat it, add playstore and many features.
Updates comes to your phone through OTA weekly the most of the time!
It's very easy and fun, each week an update.
As the phone is updated weekly the phone seems to be more stable with this rom than... Stable global rom! ahah!
To install the rom you have to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.
The most difficult is to unlock bootloader if you haven't xiaomi permission for your MI account. I had to use a browser trick with a chinese proxy to obtain this permission but you have to do this only one time for your account and can unlock three phones by month. For each new phone, you have to wait 3 days after linking a phone to your MI account in order to obtain authorisation to unlock the bootloader of the new phone.
[Edit] For the 4G problem, it isn't a real problem and sometimes it's an advantage to not have B20 (800Mhz).
In France, I live in a little village without 4G, most of small towns around me have the 4G with the B20 only. I've got a MI5C (withoutB20) and a MIA1 (with B20). The phone without B20 is more efficient because in small towns it turns automatically in H+ or 3G and I've got a very good connection whereas the MIA1 is in 4G with a very bad speed because all people are connected in 4G!!!!!!
When I go in a bigger town I've got 4G without B20.
Conclusion: Without B20 the internet connection is better because you don't use the same antennas as all other users!!!!
Aliexpress Global store has 6x global versions with B20 here

That model also shows FDD-LTE Band 4. Seems like a typo. Only mi 6x listing that has band 4.
Unless there really are different mi 6x versions/models.
4G should not be a problem
Now the A2 and the A2 lite will soon be available in Europe. I would recommend getting one of these devices. - You will pay a bit more, but You will get warranty. Nevertheless, I recently bought the 6X for my GF, she does not mind MIUI, which is the major difference between the 6X and the A2. You can get the 6X from China, and flash an xiaomi.eu ROM, and it works very well.
The major concern about 4G should not bother You that much. Check what bands does your operator use and support either on their website or on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
if Your operator uses only B20, then the phone is not for You - the A2 should support it, tho.

Hi,
I am looking for your solution but does the xiaomi.eu ROM support well OTA common update and major MIUI version update through OTA ?
Thanks
Mi 6x stable in Europe
hi guys, I've bought a Mi 6x in China in May. (128GB/6GB on stock English MIUI 9.5.15.0) It's stable in Europe, almost 100% on 4G, because one of the bands is missing it switches to 3G in certain area's. I like the phone but want to turn it into an A2, haven't found out how to do that. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Hello, thanks for your info, I have recently bought a 6X and I would like to switch to french, could you please let me know if it's possible and how , I am an amateur in this field

French is not available at the moment, the only European language available is English currently
You can search at xiaomi.eu there You can find muli-language transtated roms, and I would say regular ota, plus beta miui builds.
Hi to all
Do anyone flash A2 rom on mi 6x?
Is it possible?
Please share your experience...
i do. already two weeks for daily use and its ok. but i dont know if its OS run fast or slow because my previous phone was iphone 5c with ios 10.3.3 and the far i can say is the OS Android One 8.1.0 is not slow like i feel the same with ios 10.3.3
According to the thread on miui.com OTA updates doesn't work. It also bricks you device if you have anti_roll 4

Mi 9T Pro Rom for K20 Pro

Good day Sir / Ma'am,
To those that can possible answer the question, as you all know, Mi 9T Pro and K20 Pro are technically the same except for the branding. Should the Mi 9T Pro becomes available, is there away someone can get the global rom work with the K20 pro? And what's the probability of the future Mi 9T Pro roms to work on the K20 pro (eg lineage os, rr, pixel experience etc)?
Just wait for Xiaomi EU forums to do roms for it

Hi. Do Xiaomi EU makes rom outside of MIUI components like stock based rom?
Hello. I don't know whether to buy the K20 pro or the 9T.
Do you think both these phones will receive many official AOSP roms?

Won't the Redmi k20 pro and the Redmi k20 get the same level of custom ROM support? From a developer's perspective, the only difference is the processor (SD855 VS SD730).

I am guessing processors SD855 and SD730 has different components. So I doubt that the same rom would work on both.

K20 and k20 pro totally different. More support will be on pro version i guess. 855 resources are easily available now. Pixel ROM CAF version maybe easy for devs to build

If I am not mistaking, the difficulty in developing custom ROMs does not lie in compatibility with Qualcomm processors. The sources of the Snapdragon processors of Qualcomm are published and available to the public.
As far as I can see there is no 9T pro, just rumours that it is the k20 pro but as only the k20 was announced in Europe yesterday
I don't believe there is s 9T pro at all

Hmmm. If so, will the k20 pro be available globally with a global rom? Or will only be in china that has to be imported in global market?

Thats not true. They only claimed in russia that there is a Mi 9T Pro but they did not know when it will be available (global marked).
If I purchase the one with Chinese ROM, will I be able to replace the ROM for the Global version? I'm so in love with the phone that I'm about to purchase the Chinese Version. The only thing that is preventing me to do so is the fear of not having the possibility to update the ROM later. Does anyone know if it will be possible? Thanks!
On Honor buy it says English and Chinese version with Google play pre installed,
Does that mean it is Global,I assume you could do all you need here with OTAs ,apps etc.

If K20 became the Mi 9T, is it possible that K20 pro would be rebranded as the Pocophone F2? just wondering? maybe its possible?

That's what they were saying initially, then roumers came of it being the 9T pro.
It is certainly a possibility it will be rebranded the Poco f2,
Either way, seems like we will be waiting a while for it
There has been reports in a few tech sites of a Geek Bench set of scores for an alleged Mi 9T Pro, that suggest it's a K20 Pro (it had the same motherboard name of raphael). Granted that could have been a fake, so it's certainly not real proof the Mi 9T Pro will arrive. https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/x...geekbench-listing-confirms-rebranded-k20-pro/

Yes. But you can only change from Chinese to Global ROM once the bootloader is unlocked. You will have to wait 15 days to unlock the bootloader.
This comes with limited LTE bands, so check first that it covers the bands you'll need. Changing to the global ROM won't magically open up all global bands.

That's the part people aren't understanding. A lot of these sellers install a "global" ROM with multi-languages and Google Play Store, but they're not the actual official global version due to band restrictions. I live in the United States so pay attention to that. Here's my post from a few minutes ago about possible delays in the release of the official global version. https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/how-to/redmi-k20-pro-xiaomi-mi-9t-pro-global-t3939580

Clarification on models, prices and release dates please. A little confused!

I'm trying to understand the comparisons and the best one to go for.
I've recently become aware of the phones since I'm now hunting one for my wife.
I got excited to watch a review about the Redmi K20 Pro until I understood it was primarily for the Chinese & Indian market, and it doesn't support band 20.
I'm in the UK so it looks like I must import one and be mindful of the lack of band 20. Importing is not an issue for me since I've done with my Xiaomi Max 3 when it first came out.
But then I started to get a little confused because the review was comparing it to a Xiaomi Mi 9T and other sites said they were identical. They're not though as the Redmi has a better CPU but it is however, the same as the 9T 'Pro'. I realised (especially because of the title of this forum!) that the two Pros are the same except the 9T Pro is for the European market. Please let me know if I'm wrong at this point.
So, now for me, it comes down to the price versus band 20. Does anyone know when the 9T Pro is being released if not already because I can only find it to pre-order?
Also, will the difference between the 2 phones only be the bands?
I get the feeling the 9T Pro is going to be more expensive, how much I don't know but if it's going to be long time before it's released, I will consider the Redmi K20 Pro instead.
If you can see what my predicaments are then I'd be grateful for any advice about this and recommendations.
Thanks very much.
So i bought the k20 pro a few weeks ago and received it last Friday. The LTE connectivity is good for me in the Netherlands.
A friend of mine bought the mi 9t pro last week trough dutch smartphone seller belsimpel.nl and received his phone yesterday.
The phones are exactly the same, hardware wise. Firmware wise they differ. The 9T pro firmware has support for band 20, like you said.
But in theory the k20 pro should be able to support it band 20 because there is no hardware difference.
At the moment it is not clear yet whether the European firmware can be installed on the k20 pro since it is Qualcomm proprietary software. (this is what i read somewhere on this forum, correct me if iam wrong anyone)
Perhaps someone will be able to find a solution for that, but i don't know for sure whether its possible.

Replacing K20 Pro with Mi 9T Pro, can't find 8GB version

As the title says, I'm trying to replace my current device, a K20 Pro 8/128 with a same specs Mi 9T Pro but can't find any store who has in stock an 8GB version. Reason of doing this is because in my country (Mexico) 4G is exclusively LTE Band 4 which K20 Pro doesn't have. Got mine through AliExpress, can't find it there though, any idea where I could get it?
I got mine from eGlobal Central US. Try there.
Authenticated online.
Only thing I keep having issues with is FOD so I would check that when you get the phone.

Xiaomi India extends warranty to two years on some of its older models
The warranty seems to just cover selfie camera and motherboard issues, though. Don’t get overly excited about this since it is a very specific extension,...
