Tablet ui - Shield Tablet Themes and Apps

Anyone know any apps or xposed modules that bring back the honeycomb interface to marshmallow? It's so much nicer to use the tablet with the navigation icons on the corner and you get more vertical space to boot.

That's not possible since Google removed the corresponding code from source.

Yeah
The taskbar with the notifications on the bottom are better can you do that?

VTLauncher: tablet-centric launcher based on adw!!!

I just saw this on the xda homepage:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017451
Its a new tablet-centric launcher based off of the adw open-source code but removes the phone-like dock bar and ads launchers thatbare highly customizable and scrollable. It is also suppossed to add support for scrollable Widgets as well!
Here is the description:
This Launcher is designed with landscape tablets in mind! (that's not to say it doesn't also function well in portrait mode..... as it does)
First off this launcher is based HEAVILY on ADW.Launcher's Source code so I would like to thank anderweb for all the ground work.
What I have done is begun to remove the tired old Phone Like dock bar we are used to in just about every android launcher and replace it with a sleek Scrollable/Drag-able/Drop-able/Rearrangeable "ALONG the BOTTOM" (NOW WITH TOGGLEABLE SIDE DOCKS AS WELL!) Application and Shortcut Dock.
You can drag any Application, Shortcut, Browser Shortcut, Folder, etc. onto or off of and even drag them to different positions along the bar. Basically just about anything you can usually place on the desktop (except widgets, sorry that is not going to happen) you can place on the dock bar.
So feel free to fill your desktop with widgets and clocks and weather and that cool picture of your cat , because all your favorite apps are a fling away at the bottom.
So far scrolling widget support is fully functional. If an app complains/or warns that it doesn't detect a compatible launcher ignore it and continue they should work (as long as they are ADW Compliant).
This should work on virtually any device. Though non large screen devices may have issues with the layouts so you will have to play with the desktop column and row numbers etc.
UPDATE Info: -Fixed all Paddings to be dynamic with regard to which docks are visible. -Increased the Folder Columns by one for both Orientations. -Fixed Animations and Reflections for proper directions on all dockbars. -Added Toggle Setting to Show/Hide the dockbar when the app drawer is open. -Added Right-Hand Dockbar w/Toggle Setting. -Added Left-Hand Dockbar w/Toggle Setting. -Changed Dock Style to be be centered instead of left justified. -Fixed a fling issue when there were less icons than cells that would cause the icons to fing right and stick. -Changed the default setting of drawer type to the vertical scroll style as it is smoother. -Changed the default setting of drawer color to have a slight alpha to it so you can see your wallpaper a bit.
Latest screenshot shows the new side docks! ------------------------------------------------------------------------Project site: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/vt-labs/vtl-launcher

Here is a screenshot of my setup. The launcher is a little buggy but the concept is cool and if they can clean up the code, it could be a serious contender for the tablet launcher crown.

PS. sorry about the crappy pic and link for pic. Screenshot er isn't working and tapatalk wont let me embed a pic from my xoom.
Cool - I'll give it a shot and post results!
I like the stock launcher better. The widgets are too small. Unless there is something similar with how the stock launcher transitions from screen to screen I will be set with the current setup.
It still feels very beta, the transitions seem "meh" however, it being a beta and all its expected. Uninstalled for now, but I'll be looking for updates soon.
Thanks.
Looks promising. I ran VEGAN on my G Tab and it was a nice alternative to stock. I will be interested to see how it turns out in the near future.
silly question...is there a home switcher that works with honeycomb? if not how are you switching back and forth between stock and this launcher?
Awesome, I was wondering when some tablet based launchers would emerge.
And also can you share that wallpaper

Updated to v1.6.2 here
does this work good on the xoom
I'm not very impressed with it. It was kind of slow and the app drawer interface leaves alot to be desired.

No tablet UI for Nexus 7 on 4.2

I updated my Nexus 7 to android 4.2, rooted it, edited the prop.build to change the LCD density to 160. Looks like Googles removing the tablet UI.
Yes this has been known since Nexus 10 was announced
Hopefully paranoidandroid can do something with it
i dont mind the phablet UI but I just want the tablet Youtube app.
i hate hate hate the phone youtube app with a passion.
does anyone know how to get the youtube app to scale out?
Ya I'm hoping PA can solve this. Not at all pleased about losing tablet ui. I guess phablet works on the nexus 7 because its meant to be held vertically but I couldn't imagine it on a 10in horizontal tablet.

Good, tablet ui was ugly and un-userfriendly. The new ui is a lot better especially for new users.

I can live with the phablet UI, except for the location of the navigation bar buttons. The locations essentially turn my experience into thumb olympics.
Google really needs to give us customization options for the navigation bar. Let us decide where the buttons are. Or potentially let us make the navigation bar be on the side of the screen while in landscape mode, because it's quite awful as of right now.
just updated to 4.2, checked out some of the awesome new features, rooted, adjusted my lcd density to get my tablet ui back only to find i can't.
the big phone ui is horrible, it wastes space by having two separate bars on my screen, and means i can't just hold the tablet at the bottom and still be able to reach all my controls. really disappointing.
Oh, glad I didn't update then! I hate having the status bar at the top AND the button bar at the bottom, the tablet UI is a much better use of space.
i'm a bit confused as to why they've removed the tablet ui altogether when changing the density. unless they have actually removed it entirely from the os meaning that no tablet will have the tablet ui once upgraded to 4.2 unless it's manually put there by the manufacturer.
So there is no tablet ui at all when the lcd density is changed to 160?
nope. i took it down to 170 which gives me the tablet ui for my apps like youtube, and gave me the full tablet ui on 4.1.2, but i just get a smaller phone ui on 4.2.
still worth an upgrade imho, the lock screen password entry is much nicer, multi user support is enabled, gmail has FINALLY added pinch to zoom, and i'm sure there's much more i haven't noticed yet, but i do miss my tablet ui
I definitely preferred it.
The Nexus 10 even uses the phablet UI. They're doing way with the gt tablet UI for conformity because everyone complained about it being "confusing" and Google can't figure out what they want.
So we now have a uniformed UI... Sadly.
Tablet UI was my choice. It was perfect IMO. Everything at the bottom on each side for great thumb control and a quick settings access menu for toggles. Using my N7 on 4.2 seems counter intuitive because I constantly have to shift hands to grab the top bars. I also don't care for the 2 menus. I inadvertently grab the wrong menu often... And the "toggles" are not predictable. Some are direct toggles but others are shortcuts. The major ones like Bluetooth and WiFi are shortcuts.
And the lockscreen widgets are cool... But I hate the little white border every time I unlock that indicates I can scroll. I'd move the lock screen widgets down and have a dedicated settings menu to enable/disable or just use the existing widget picked from the start menu which options of home screen or lock screen placement.
I'm sure they'll work the kinks out soon.

You can still get Tablet UI from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780970&page=84
See post number 840 on page 84. Download the 4.2-TabletUI.zip and flash in recovery.
Only problem is stock launcher does not fit the screen. Nova Launcher (free from Play Store) works fine. Same Tablet experience as with 4.1.2.

So this is a full ROM update, not some apk you load on top of your existing ROM? If I use it, will it wipe my settings? EDIT: never mind' looked at the wrong post, it looks like post 840 has a patch
I do like the tablet interface best, easier to reach buttons with my thumb (I use my tablet horizontally a lot). Also I don't use a dock on my home screen and with the update I no longer can bring up the app drawer from the status bar.
I may try Chameleon Launcher as my "Tablet UI"
I've been looking at it for a long time and noticed that the price was just cut to $3.99.
Probably cashing in on the people who lost the old UI.

Chameleon is still just a launcher, it won't change you to a tablet ui.

True, but it may resolve my issues. And my point was to share info about the price cut with people here as much as anything.
I know a lot of people have been interested but turned off by the former $10 price.

[Q] Hide Nav Keys with LG Home

I've been using Nova Launcher because I love the launcher and it's abilities, but I really like the LG Home launcher as well.
But I have a stock rooted G2 and want as much screen real estate as possible so I hide the Nav Bar, but on the LG Home launcher the screen does not fully stretch to the bottom of the screen, shown in the pic's below. I use the app Auto Hide Soft Keys from the Play Store to hide my keys. Anyone got any help?

You can't. The app is built like that, where every other launcher is DPI fitting and screen fitting, the LGHOME.apk is not, built only for the LG G2, after all, why would they implement a feature that the average user will not use?

[Q] How to change icon size/theme in Google Now Launcher?

I've started utilizing Google Now quite a bit lately. And now I would really like to get back to using the Google Now launcher. However, It's still missing 2 key features in stock form. I'm looking to see if anyone has a solid work around for them, that doesn't hinder performance.
1) Change icon theme
2) Change icon size
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Icon changer on the playstore
Thanks, but it looks like it only changes/resizes the icon on the desktop and not the app drawer. Am I doing something wrong?
You can just drag icons out of app drawer first . you can't have it already there

OnePlus Launcher

How can I tweak the inbuilt OnePlus launcher to add certain functionalities like hiding apps or organising them in folders within the app drawer?
(I haven't rooted my phone it is currently using OxygenOS version 4.0.3)
I know the easier option is to install another launchers available out there with these features. But I have found that UI of OnePlus launcher is quite clean. Though Launchers from play store like nova, arrow, buzz allow you to customise the icon size and lable's font size on the home screen, it is not possible in the app drawer, which makes to UI little clumpsy thus I want to add the feature of organising and hiding to oneplus launcher itself.
Nova allows you to tinker with icon size, text size, no. of icons horizontally and vertically, background colour, scroll bar colour etc. You can also setup swipe actions on desktop like one plus launcher and add even more gestures.

See. Many launchers have this feature in their paid version, but not in their free version. And, I personally don't believe in paying for an app without trying all its feature at least for a week for free.
Though I would try NOVA Prime, I want to know HOW can I tweak the in-built launcher?

You can't. Either you like what OnePlus likes or you choose a different Launcher.
