ZTE Axon Elite - Received Infected - ZTE Axon Pro

Hi everyone,
I am looking for any valuable piece of advice and just to warn you for a potential problem.
Bought the phone for Xmas ( 2 months ago ) from GearBest.com. Good service and prompt delivery, less than a week, they said it has been shipped from EU warehouse so no import duty or VAT taxes paid. Nice, quick, responsive phone on very good price (bought it for 299 US dollars). It has installed Android Lolipop 5.0.2 version with paid version of Kaspersky Internet Security plus CCleaner and CM security, and everything seemed OK until last week when I installed and run a full system scan with Malwarebytes mobile app, which detected 2 malwares:
Android/PUP.Riskware.SMSReg - system/priv-app/HeartyService/HeartyService.apk
Android/Trojan.Dropper.Aggent.ba - system/app/HandService/Handservice,apk
Now for more than a week I have tried to got rid of them but without any success, they are part of the phone`s firmware/ROM and Android uninstaller can not uninstall them. Performed factory reset, install the original ROM from the Taiwanese ZTE support site, still got them. The first one is in Me-Assistant and the second in ZTE Cares. The only solution is to root the device which will give me the permission to uninstall apps or to install new clean ROM, but nothing working for me at the moment, already tried all treads about that matter (rooting ZTE Axon) and all Android and PCs program but not good.
Any suggestion or similar problems guys?
Thank you.

I just ran Malwarebytes on my Axon Elite, and interestingly enough, I got the same thing for ZTE Cares, so, the device is factory infected? Someone should bring this to ZTE's attention. I actually was completely not aware of this until seeing this thread.
EDIT: As my device is rooted I used system app remover to get rid of it, after a reboot malwarebytes can't find anything now, but that still doesn't make it okay.

That's a bit worrying.. I disabled mi assist as I thought it was causing more hassle than being useful.. Maybe that might work?

ZTE promotes a supporting app. Are you sure, this isn't a false positive?

I have exactly the same issue with my 2 weeks old ZTE Axon. I scanned my phone with different scanners (Norton, F-Secure, Avast) and none of them found any issues except Malwarebytes which found the ones I bolded in your text. I can not remove them, only disable. As stated above, they might be false positive what I also suggest but of course can't be sure. I'm quite a rookie with this phone and I haven't found any other malfunctioning that might be caused by trojans/viruses. I'm not yet sure should I bother rooting the phone to get rid of those "apps". Any additional info regarding this is appreciated!

[Q] Ebay no longer work on android 4.0.4

Ebay App no longer work on android 4.0.4, I haven't updated Android because if it work why fix it...
I have alway used ebay on my Mobile phone, but till Monday all I get is update E-bay then when I do I am told
that Android 4.0.4 is no longer compatible.... your making waves on calm waters
Is there any App work around for this problem, I have had to use a webpage shortcut to my home screen.......
thank you
Update your phone
Hi @Exorcist74,
I'm with you, generally on this... if it aint broke, dont fix it. That said, most of the more updated roms are rather mature on our device now. And anything is an improvement over ICS 4.0.4. Even if ya only go upto KitKat on 4.4.4
That said, there is only 2x outcomes with this....
Downgrade the App via APKMirror and look for an older version of the App, before it refuses to run on ICS 4.0.4. And if the nag is Server side, and not built into the App...
... Then ya either gonna have to upgrade the OS on our Note... or find another device?
Hope that helps, Lister
Thanks Lister Of Smeg,
fearmongering sell's that is the bottom line..
I'm not spending large amount of money for the sake of a free app
nor take the chance of Bricking for the same app
I have been thinking of updating my android (Galaxy Note N70000 with Brickbug) but every time I research the Rom it always end up defective in some way or other, so back to why fix it if its not broken...
Thanks again Lister for the good advice...

Unfortunately, some important apps, like Amazon Kindle, were not working anymore for me as well. I did update my android system, and in case you're willing to try the updating route, I can testify that retired developer bauner has made a fantastic job on our good old N7000. I installed Phil's recovery, then installed his 7.1 (!) rom and the appropriate gapps, and I am very satisfied with the result so far. He also made and maintained 5.X and 6.X versions which are maybe even safer. He's bravely fighting planned obsolescence, and competently so. I did have to resize my partitions following his guide so that there would be enough space for the upgraded OS before installing it.
I find that it's also easy to find parts for the phone at a very cheap price on aliexpress, so I see no reason why I should stop using it in the next few years.

FRP Tab E SM-T377W

First let me apologize in advance if this is been covered in another thread as I was unable to find it. My wife bought the tab e tablet off one of our neighbors 6 months ago. It was intended to be a gift for our daughter. Our daughter's birthday was coming up so I booted the phone and formatted it. As is probably made obvious by the title, I ran into FRP. I've been trying for 3 weeks now to remove that bloody thing so I can give it to her. So far, the best I've been able to do to is install a combination ROM. A few people have said that once you have a combination ROM installed you're pretty much done removing the FRP but for the life of me I can't see how. All I really could do was turn on USB debugging which I believe will help in the future. My phone is the smt377w running Android 6 I have tried every night that I could find online but none of them at work.. my biggest problem is that several of them involve using the dialer but due to it being a tablet dialer at least not when I can access from there. I have tried downgrading to Android 5.1 as I I believe the SM-T377V and SM-T377W are virtually identical save for what is Canadian and one is American but I've been unable to do that as well. I have used Odin Samsung Kies Z3X but as far as I can go. Does anyone have any advice for where I should go from here? Thank you in advance for any help you were able to provide.
same problem
Been trying as well
For the last month I've been searching for how to do it and there has been nothing posted any closer since July and that post as well as a few others (older) were unsuccessful.

Purchased Moto E5 unlocked and flashed with TWRP and crDroid Pie on eBay

As the title says, I purchased Moto E5 unlocked and flashed with TWRP/crDroid/Magisk on eBay. The seller has a great rating and sells a lot of different phones with custom Roms and claims to spend a lot of time customizing the Rom's settings and also with Magisk modules. I can't help but wonder what if this guy isn't honest, what if he's installed Mal/spy/stalker ware on my phone?
I've downloaded Avast, Malwarebytes, Incognito to run but could not find any rootkit detectors for Androids, just Linux, Mac, IOS, Windows. I know the phone is rooted but I understand rootkit's hide malicious Mal/spy/stalker wares.
I imagine the seller wouldn't risk his eBay ratings (99.6 since 2000) by installing malware on the phones and if he was, someone would have noticed already. Besides just redoing all this guys work, re-flashing TWRP/crDroid/Magisk, customizing settings etc... (which I can do but would rather not), can anyone recommend any apps for detecting rootkits, malware etc..., I'm not really going to feel safe on this phone without running a VPN or re-flashing.
Thanks

Why is he risking his feedback when obviously you can't tell if any undesired apps are installed. The bigger question is was this a second thought, after already buying what you thought was sooo cool?
Can't resell it now, what if whoever you sell it to discovers these apps or I meant scripts. Apps can easily be found, where scripts are baked in, and they blame you for spying. Can't give it away either, that's all the more reason for giving away a free phone. Looks like you're stuck with it! Have fun being an exhibitionist! Muuuuaahhhh
Thanks for the advice Taly's dad. Be well and be kind and good things will happen for you.

The software is simply not ready tbh
It's so bad I find myself going back to my mate 20 x to do stuff sometimes....
May be go EU ROM instead, my alarm works fine and did out of the box
I often have the same problem with my global one. I now use a 2nd alarm clock.
I do not understand people that complain about using the China rom, but do not just flash an alternative, like the Xiaomi.eu rom. The China rom does not work with many third party apps, as well as Google services. The workaround is quite simple. It's called unlocking your bootloader and flashing another rom, like the Xiaomi.eu rom.

Mate, i'm with official Vodafone variant, 12.5.1.0 RKAEUVF, completely stock and i have the same problem. And i have two Mi11 Ultra phones - mine and my girl's phone. Both of them have the same issues. Most of the times the alarm doesn't go off. It's weird because if i use third party app it works, but the stock one doesn't. Good thing i have my old phone to use it as alarm. I contacted Xiaomi UK about it, made a official complaint and they are very aware of the problem. The thing is that they're not doing anything about it. I mean seriously - it's an alarm clock - how hard can it be to be fixed?!?!?

That's good to hear. Obviously not all devices are affected. But as you see in the forum a lot of people have trouble with their devices. If you buy a phone from China and thinker around it you can expect some things to happen. What puzzles me is that a lot of people have legitimate European phones, completely stock, and they have issues as well.
I worked it IT for over 30 years both in Windows and Unix and phones have been a hobby since I retired, but one thing that was always true, the vast majority of problems were due to user error and there is usually something simple behind errors like this, for example, clearing the apps cache after install or upgrade.
How is not clearing the cache user error? Where exactly have Xiaomi published that so I know what to do for every app install or upgrade?
Xiaomi churn out so many phones but don't care too much about software or users, especially outside of China.
This has happened a couple of times on the Oneplus 8 Pro but only a couple of times to a point when I had add a 2nd alarm on my work's phone. Has happened once on Mi 11 Pro (shares software with the Ultra) but not since.

Because basic maintenance is always the users responsibility. For example, if you drive s car and fail to do basic maintenance on your car, like change the oil, and your engine needs to be repaired, whose fault is it? Who has to pay for the repairs? The manufacturer or the owner of the car? If a phone suffers water damage, despite the phone being water resistant, whose responsibility is it? Anytime you upgrade any OS, iOS or Android, there is always the possibility of residuals from the previous OS conflicting with the upgrade. Manufacturers can only put the processes in place for simple corrections, but the user is the one who is responsible to understand and actually perform the basic care and maintenance required. If you look at any OS, they all have the abilities to clear cache, but you have for years always heard things like, "after the upgrade this app doesn't work right or my phone has slowed way down." Very common situations that can usually be easily fixed by performing basic maintenance and careof their device There are occasions where things land outside of basic care, such as the Note 7 fiasco, and a recall is necessary, but if the problems are occuring randomly and they are only user specific, it generally points to something that the user either has or has not done to his or her device and not the manufacturer or it would be affecting all users rather than a random group of users. You know how every manufacturer has a little booklet included with their phone that no one reads? Perhaps it might behoove you to read it as there are usually basic maintenance pointers in those booklets

I do agree with you to some degree. What am i supposed to do with brand new phone out of the box and alarm doesn't fire off? What residuals, what cache? It's out of the box. Not to mention that's the first ever phone giving troubles like that, never before. Look it the other way around as a pro and tell me - how pro a user needs to be and what should you do if the sowtware is buggy and unsatble in first place? Just humor me, please.
Look there's a reason, if you contact a help desk, they take you through easy troubleshooting steps in the first place. If your phone is defective out of the box, return it. It's not rocket science.Have you never had a product that didn't work and you needed to take it back? Frustrating but nothing is perfect.
hi, sorry for late coming back to the thread. i think the apps is not compatible with the rom ( i dont know why). try 2 alarm clock apps, both not ringing even i on autostart, lock on the recent apps, and no battery saver. but i try another alarm clock suddenly it working. but different issue arise. while it is ringing, the apps does not appear at all, i need to go in and click the apps to turn off the clock.
i have start the unlock bootloader process, maybe tomorrow or the day after i can unlock it. and will change to eu or global rom.

I don't see what's funny about it considering the fact i got two at the same time when they got out. Back then almost nobody had any idea what to expect. It's not like i waited to see what happens in the forums to buy the first one and two months later to buy another one. Please, don't assume anything about anyone when you have absolutely no information about the situation or have no idea about the person.

Good Morning,
i have no technical background but using software and Hardware. Keep hardware for a long time.
Joined as I replace with a xperia 1 .
I like the new phone and was happy with the price, but it has a catch.
I purchase a SO-03L Version with a disgustingly infected(couple dozen of stupid unisntalable apps &n services NTT DOCOMA operating system.
I like to use it via the german Vodafon network.
The device is sim UNlocked
I always would liked to use my phone with a selfchosen clean OS and as want to use the chance of the the device to try a custom os ( lineage OS or maybe the Pixel rom).
I am well aware that most Information are most likely already publish within this forum but I yet struggle to gather them to feel confident about flashbooting my precious device.
Anyhow, if anyone could direct me to the right thread or would even be willing to assist me via dm or similar I would appreciate it.

Moin,
curious about how active the community is. After using the phone "branded" by NTT, I still like the hardware, but the spammy and messy OS doesn't spark joy at all + I am struggling to connect to my german vodafone network without further steps.
even tho I did quite a bit of reading into custom forms, I never ever installed flash tool etc in the fear bricking my precious phone Had a fight with my girl and will proof this evening that I am capable of making that phone my phone.
I will gather and sort my steps and publish them here, if it work smoothly it will be documented and if I was a fool and f*** up to follow not even a dozen step manual, I deeply wish some veteran slides into my notifications >oo<
