[Help] Samsung Galaxy S4 5.0.1 SGH-I337 won't reboot properly - Xposed General

This is my first post so I'm sorry if I did not post this in the right place or didn't do something else regular-place to these forums. Please guide me in the right direction if I didn't. So I rooted my phone with Kinguser and then switched it to SuperSu pro using the in-app instructions ins SuperSu. My goal is to install Xposed onto my phone but part of the problem is that I have to boot and manual recovery with TWRP or something similar for Xposed to work on my S4 (specifications above). But every manual recovery app I download works up to the point I actually try to reboot. All of them can find my root access and say they install successfully, but when I hit reboot and recovery, it always goes into Odin mode (and in the top left corner of Odin mode it says cannot reboot normally). I can get out of Odin mode easily so the problem isn't that I'm stuck there. I just want to know how to proceed with reboot and recovery when every time I try it goes into Odin mode.

Easiest way is to go into download mode(Odin mode) and flash TWRP via Odin. In Odin make sure to uncheck reboot and f. reset once TWRP is flash unplug and pull the battery and reboot directly to recovery (power & volume+) once you get into TWRP it'll stay after that. Then just reboot your phone normally. Also within TWRP you can flash SuperSU.

Thanks for the response!! I found the twrp file on their website (one which is a .md5 and one which is a .img which both don't work). They would both just freeze in Odin. So I found a tool online that turns .img files to .tar file. Link to tool below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281287
with another thread that helped to fix the runme.bat file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42511844#post42511844
and that helped make a .tar file which doesn't freeze up Odin, but when I run the .tar file made from that tool, the manual flash using Odin runs through and fails. the Odin prompt is shown below.

Pretty much everything. I would not trust converting files like that. High potential for bricking your device.
The link I gave you is a .tar file that Odin likes. The md5 is at the top, yes, but you need the tar file just a little further down.
I linked you the latest one that is .tar. Newer versions are in .img that can be flashed in recovery.

I downloaded the .tar file you linked above and tried it and it still failed. So to be descriptive as possible the first thing I do is plug my phone (without twrp installed) into my pc. Then I turn it off. Then I try to reboot. Phone can't reboot and forwards directly to Odin mode. I download the .tar file you linked me above. I do not unzip the file. I have Odin3 v3.07 installed. I open Odin and uncheck Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. I click on PDA and select the unzipped zip file for flash. Nothing is said in the message display after that and is still at.

Thanks so much for all the help!! After that linked I found a bunch of conversations that helped. If you every help out with someone with the same specifications on their phone then I had there's not much I can say that can help as far as Lollipop goes. I could not find a way to get Xposed on my device as is. But if anyone really does want it, I found that if you find the right .PIT file and the stock ROM for a previous version of Android (I tried a few which all work, but I would suggest KitKat because why not) then you'll be able to do anything you want without all the heartache. After I used Odin to flash KitKat onto my device, I found that I didn't even need TWRP, Xposed installed quite nicely, and even though the layout doesn't look quite as nice as Lollipop, you can find a bunch of display modules in Xposed that fit the bill quite well.
All in all, Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T SGH-I337 5.0.1 and want Xposed?? You're screwed. Flash KitKat.

How to flash P1000 with a 1 file firmware?

I just downloaded an asian firmware P1000DXJPJ_P1000OLBJPI_XSP.zip. In this zip theres only 2 files:
P1000DXJPJ_P1000OLBJPI_P1000DXJPE_HOME.tar.md5
SS_DL.dll
Theres plenty of guides out there but all of them are using separate files. I found some separate files but doesnt have the language that I wanted. Only this firmware I downloaded got what I need but then its in a single file. So can anyone guide me how do I flash this firmware into my P1000?
Thanks in advance.
You can ignore that dll, I see that too after extracting the zip file. Flash only the md5. There are actually lot of instructions here on how to flash, via odin. Just check it out but just make sure you have the right firmware else you'll be having trouble.
Sent from my HTC Desire S
Well yea... theres plenty of guides how to flash with odin. But problem is I never seen any guide that show you how to flash a single file with odin to a p1000. Probably I didnt search enough but I really did searched alot and I came up with nothing.

You'll need the PIT file for the PIT section, the .md5 under PDA, and a carrier-specific modem .bin for modem (if you know you need it anyway).

Yes... Most guide showing that you need afew md5 files, PDA, modem etc etc... but the file that I have is just only 1 file. I have downloaded afew diff firmware but all only 1 HOME file. How do I flash it with Odin onto the phone?
The pit file is kinda all the same (correct me if I'm wrong) so you can download it anywhere. Then the md5 file. That two was all I need to return to stock/and upgrade to Gingerbread. I left the PHONE field blank.

Is this a solution or what? If you wanna help please make it clear what to do. I got all the pit and ops files. My main question is how to you flash a single file? what version of odin used? pit or ops? Under which section should I put the 1 file for flashing?
Odin 1.7 is good for SGT7
If you are coming from common GB ROM that has no modified partition, you don't need a pit file. (Assuming you are not running MTD version of ICS now)
If you have a working modem, again, no need to flash a modem file.
So, do like what espionage724
but no need to put pit and modem file, don't tick "re-partiton".
Now, if you are from MTD ROM, then you need all like what espionage724 has there.

Im sorry, I dont mean no offence. Im new to Samsung. Total noob here. Im going crazy :crying: What is GB ROM and MTD ROM?
I have tried without using a pit file. Re-partition unchecked. P1000DXJPJ_P1000OLBJPI_P1000DXJPE_HOME.tar.md5 in PDA. The rest blank. Still yet... Failed.

I have tried using gt-p1000_mr.pit and s1_odin_20100803.pit, non worked. All failed.
Please bare with me here. Im not sure what m I doing now LMAO!
GB is Gingerbread (Android 2.3)
ICS is Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0)
MTD and non MTD refers to the partition table. ICS ROMs (CM9 and AOKP just to name a few), after April 2012, uses open standard partition table called MTD. To return to stock Samsung (non MTD alias BML) partition table, a pit file is a must, repartition checked.
First, don't just stick any pit file not made for your device. It will brick your device.
(what is that s1_odin_20100803.pit, don't tell me it is Galaxy S pit file... because I don't know what is it going to do with your tab internal memory)
BTW, why do you want to specifically flash this ROM file you have?
Have you tried Overcome GB-Stock-Safe-v5 from Overcome guide?
Go to overcome site
http://www.teamovercome.net
Read the guide,
Missing pictures can be seen here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20974872
Follow the picture step by step.
Basically to restock:
Download GB-stock-safe-v5.zip, unzip it and and flash with ODIN according to the guide.
Stop there and you will have Gingerbread JQ1
You can continue with the rest, and you will get Overcome 4.1 and you won't regret.
From there you can then try AOKP or CM9, all requires you to have Overcome Kernel with its CWM recovery to flash.
I have tried the Overcome way but failed.

Changed PIT file and ODIN version. Solved
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
yeah, setup connection seems to be caused by wrong Odin version. PIT I don't know.
That is why I recommend GB-stock-safe-v5 overcome's way.
It has everything of the correct version.
Easy.
Next time, just a suggestion, when jumping to a thread, at least try what was said in that thread.
Use the latest version of odin

Simply put the home.tar.md5 file in pda box and flash and reply if it works for you, for me it worked
May i ask if your tab is on its download mode?
Just a noob question.
Can you use your tab normally b4 flashing?
I normally just follow overcome instruction and always a 100% success.
Can you extract the md5 file using rar extractor.(normally i can)
Try downloading the md5 file again,(if not)

[TUT]Rooting the mini 2 S6500D (Super noob friendy)(video added)

Hi Everyone
VIDEO:

i will show you how to root the Samsung galaxy mini 2 S6500D
and i will move step by step in this tut as i will Root my device as well, I've Unrooted it so i can show you every step
ok, so first of all there is some files that you need to download first:
1- you must have the ADB drivers for your phone and you do that by downloading Samsung kies
just google it and you will find it
2- download this rar file here
Ok so lets get started
- After Downloading Samsung Kies connect your Phone to the pc so the Kies can detect it and install its drivers.
- grab your phone

( its really advisable to be fully charged, or at least 90% or so ) things can get really bad if the phone turns off while rooting :silly:
- Trun off the phone,Boot your phone in ( Download mode ) you can do that by pressing Vol (down) and Home and power key all at once, after that you should get to this screen:
just press the volume up to ignore the warning To proceed.
Then connect your phone to the pc and open Odin3 v1.85.exe from the rar(mini2.rar) that you downloaded and extracted
then press the PDA button and choose the other file called ( clockworkmod-5.0.2.8.tar.md5 )
ok, before we continue you should take care of something
if you get Exactly this screen, then you did something wrong
as you see in the rec circle Odin did NOT detect your phone
-its either not connected probably or its drivers is not installed
so make sure you check both of these things
now if you get THIS screen with Oding detecting your phone then you are ready to go
press the PDA button and load the file called ( clockworkmod-5.0.2.8.tar.md5 )
then press start,If you see pass with green background make sure you did it right
after that CLOSE, you must COLSE odin, just exit it.
Now turn off your phone again and boot it in ( REcovery mode ) you can do this by pressing both of the volume buttons and the home and power key, so basically you just press all the buttons at the same time.
as you see it will say GT7500 but its ok, :highfive:
You should get this screen
remember your phone is still connected to the pc the whole process
Now open the other file
AGAIN, if you get this kind of error ( device not found )
Then you you probably did the same thing and proceed without making sure of finishing the prev.step.
But if you did it correctly, you should see this:
it MIGHT (probably will) fail the first time, just exit and run the file again to make sure.
Then you are ready to go
now you will be automatically on the first option ( reboot system now ) just press the home key and the phone will reboot
open the app menu and you should see ( super user ) installed on your phone
to make sure you are rooted just go to the google store and search Titanum backup
install it and you will see it Require the super user request to proceed,
or you can just search for any root checker app as well
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=burrows.apps.rootchecker
many thanks to the people who find out the way to root the phone :highfive:
i just LOOOVE to create Tutorials :good: :victory:

Tablet then reboots directly to download mode. Unable to enter newly installed recovery, unable to shutdown.
Retried several times to same result.
Are you doing the right key combo to get to recovery? Restart tab, as soon as the 8.9 logo pops up, press and hold volume down (the one closer to the power button). When bootloader screen comes up press volume down one more time to select recovery, and volume up once to select. Sorry if this is obvious, just wanted to make sure.
Correct me if I'm wrong but power+vol down basically brings you to a screen where you're given a choice
between download mode (denoted by a blinking green Andy) and recovery mode (Andy coming out of a box).
I select recovery, tried all buttons, no response. The "icon" flashes for a moment when key is pressed but
nothing happens.
That's correct. It sounds like your bootlader might be borked. Unfortunately, idk how to flash a new one without a working recovery. Sorry.
You might be able to flash a bootloader.zip in odin as a pda. I have never tried this, and I have no idea if it will work, or if it will further break your tab.
Am I correct that you have a p7300? If it is a p7300 or a p7310, this is the right bootloader:

I read some replies about flashing this bootloader, and it seems like it works
but I noticed that @kallt_kaffe mentioned that you should flash the bootloader using the bootloader option instead of the PDA:

Flashing the bootloader was the solution ???
I can think of two things
ether you should try to flash a stock Tar ROM by Odin
or you should transfer any flashable Zip ROM by USB adb connection and flash it through CWM

Actually I'm not sure whether it's the bootloader OR the fact that I switched to a laptop and a different USB from the one I was
using before.
That said, I have tried flashing the ROM you gave me the link to in mail. Didn't work. As before the installation completed only to be stuck at
the Samsung logo upon reboot.
How would I proceed with the flashable zip ROM USB adb thing with CWM? And what files would I need? Pardon my ignorance but I'm just
pretty new to all this.
You need to use cwm to flash a custom rom. There are several in the android development section. You need to download the rom.zip and gapps.zip from one of those threads, and put them on the internal storage of your tab. Hopefully, when you hook it up to a pc it will pop up as a media player or storage device, and you can just drag and drop them on there. If not, you may need to set up adb and push the files over to the tab.
Once you get the files on there, normally one would do a nandroid backup. In your case, without a working rom, I don't think that will be usefull. You need to wipe (format) system, data, cache, and dalvik, then install the rom.zip, then the gapps.zip.
I am having similar issues with my tab, flashed an official rom from sam mobile through odin, just hangs on the samsung boot screen. Could it be a boot loader issue?

Device doesn't register as a storage device. No idea how to push files over with ADB or even how I would access ADB with
the Samsung 8.9. Could someone take the trouble to give me some step-by-step idiot proof instruction I could follow?
Ok, sorry for being late, I was collecting information and doing some experiences
on my tab to get all the details you need
So, to transfer a file through adb USB connection while in recovery you should
Install ADB Drivers and use the ADBGUI to copy the files to the tab
First of all mount /sdcard from the mount and unmount section in CWM, connect your tab through USB cable while in CWM and then
when you open the ADBGUI tool it should automatically detect your tab and show you figures like number 1 in the screenshot:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If you see any figures in the same place, then your device is connected through adb
now open the Basic Commands tab (number 2)
Select File and browse it to the ROM.Zip you want to flash (number 3)
[it is recommended to be small file cuz you might need to do this more than once]
I use for this matter a Stripped CM9 (67MB) just to boot and then I transfer through normal USB any ROM I want
write (/sdcard) in (number 4) to guide the tool to put the file on the sdcard
click Push File (number 5) and wait for 2 - 6 minutes [it depends on the size of the file]
now the file should be on your sdcard
just flash it and reboot
I hope I am not exaggerating in this guide
Hey All,
Just managed to get mine to stock! . I was having the issue of it hanging on the Samsung Boot screen, but I managed to fix this by, flashing CWM through odin AFTER flashing the stock rom. Then entering CWM and doing a factory reset/wipe and wiping dalvik cache. Tablet booted perfectly into stock 4.04! Now just need to flash stock recovery and everything is back to stock

I created This Zip from the last Stock Framewok
you just need to flash it through CWM
Note: this is a stock kernel so you if you install it you won't be able to flash anything anymore
but you'll still be able to enter it and do wipe data and cache only
Enjoy
Thankyou!!! Ill flash it now and report back

Works absolutely perfectly! Thank you so much for your help! This is going on Ebay now
There doesn't seem to be an option in CWM mount/storage for me to mount /sdcard. Options available for selection:
mount /efs
mount /system
unmount /cache
mount /data
mount /preload
format /system
format /data
format /preload
ADB Drivers and GUI installed though.

Tried to root 5.0.2 with 5.1.1 guide - softbricked it [SOLVED]

Hello!
Ok, I'll admit I didn't read closely enough in my haste to root my new phone, and now it's softbricked. My phone was brand new and still on the 5.0.2 firmware, and I tried to follow the guide at link here on XDA before updating to 5.1.1. After flashing the sboot.bin, it rebooted, but stuck at the Samsung logo screen with some green text at the top of the screen:
ASV TBL VER = 15
ASV TBL VER2 = 1285
ASV big:10 LITTLE:10 630:11 MIF:10 INT:10 CAM_DISP:10 (I think that's right, it's very tiny!)
I've been stuck there ever since! I can get into download mode, but that's it.
I'm not sure what to do now. I've tried reflashing the sboot.bin file, and I've tried flashing the 5.1.1 stock (COF8) ROM (which fails!)
Am I correct in thinking that the sboot.bin file will only boot 5.1.1 roms? If so, how do I get the ROM flashed if ODIN won't do it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I've been thinking about this problem, and I've come up with two options. Either flash back to the original boot loader, kernel, etc. Or somehow get a stock 5.1 ROM to flash.
Any thoughts?

Does anyone know if T-mobile or Samsung could/would fix this, assuming I can't get it going in the next day or two?

SOLVED!
So for anyone else who finds yourself in this foolish situation, here is what worked *for me*.
The problem:
The newer sboot.bin wouldn't allow an older Android version to boot, and I couldn't Odin the newer COF6 or COF8 firmware.
The solution:
I downloaded and unzipped (technically un-tarred) the *STOCK COF8* firmware from Samsung (sammobile.com)
-To do that rename the file by removing the ".md5" extension. Yes Windows, we really do want to change the extension.
-If you don't have a program that recognizes the ".tar" extension, download PeaZip and install it - it's open source & awesome!
-Re-tar all of the files there *EXCEPT* for the sboot.bin.
-Boot into recovery as before, and open Odin - you should be a pro at this by now!
-Click the AP button and select the re-tarred stock firmware, and flash.
-Odin fails after a few files, but this is ok.
-Reboot and you should get a "failed update" error instead of the Samsung logo.
-Now Odin the *STOCK COF6* firmware
-Watch and thank God as it succeeds,and reboots ...normally
-Be patient, it still needs to update Android.
-Decide just how badly you need ROOT.....

Scratch that. I used PeaZip instead of WinRar or 7Zip. I didn't name it tar.md5, flashed and it's booting up now. We'll see if it works.
How did you get the new tarball file you made to pass the MD5 check? I can't get past that check when I make a new .tar file or tar.md5.

Probably different firmware regions. Cache.img will be a different size.
Unpack the tar file with 7zip, remove the cache.img and then repack the rest of the files to tar with 7zip.

I cannot find ROM for my devices...
Maybe it's not working because your device is A510FD, from what i see in your baseband, and you try to flash A510F. In download mode what device name is showing? Also download latest samsung drivers, try with another odin version, another usb, another pc and so on.. Report here.

When the flash fails reboot the phone again in download an reconnect it to pc. Open tar.md5 file with 7zip, pull cache.img, add the image previously pulled into a .tar archive and flash it in AP tab. Reboot into stock recovery, wipe data, reboot and profit. Cheers!
Edit: at each flash uncheck "Autoreboot" in odin and reboot it manually.

I thought you wanted to upgrade to MM?
Why don't you just flash this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sam...a510fd-official-firmware-4-files-one-t3470085
Leave out the CSC part if you want to keep your original CSC.

I think you mean wipe CACHE. Wipe DATA will factory reset the device and wipe all personal files.

To avoid issues or bootloops is better to wipe data, and since he's playing with odin and several fw files with God knows what android version, he knows the risks. So i meant what i said.

He doesn't need to wipe DATA.
Samsung official upgrades don't usually require wiping DATA.
If it doesn't boot or there are issues afterwards then wiping DATA may fix it, but there is no need otherwise.
i think is wrong rom
