Case with built in Screen Protector? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

Just received my S7 Edge today, I've actually bought the Tech21 case for it.
However with the lack of decent screen protectors at the minute is there not a case which takes care of this for you?
I've had a look around and found an X-Doria Defense 360 Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Case – Clear , anybody managed to get one or something similar which isn't too bulky?
Thanks

As i thought the Tech21 Evo Frame case edges must be fairly sharp and I can't get the screen protector to stay down especially up near the top. I've tried both the InvisibleShield Original and the Ultimate Shield one (I am in the UK). Has anybody got one to work with this case?
If not has any got any recommendations for cases with a built in screen protector as mentioned above?
Thanks

IQ Shield makes a case-friendly screen protectors for the phone. I am currently using it with my Tech21 Frame and have zero issues.

Thanks that looks like it might do the trick. Not sure you can get them in the UK, does anyone know something similar or where I could buy one?

Right now they are one of the few that actually makes case-friendly screen protectors. They do ship internationally though.

What is the difference between the case friendly and a regular screen protector? They have a few different option on amazon, but don't explain the difference.

By the looks of the post above compared to what I have got it seems to be cut out more at the top and the bottom corners compared to trying to cover the whole screen. The weakest places with my cover on are up near the very top and bottom so this should help it from not lifting when you put the case on but still cover most of the screen.

Both Skinomi and ArmorSuit make "case-friendly" screen protectors for the GS7E.

I've found one...

Tried it at best buy. I have a film on so it had that slick oil thing going. But protects well. So not sure if the screen protector hindered full screen functionality.

it does look cool but its pre order so it not even available
i just bought this one http://tinyurl.com/gkqlckx hope its good as most s7 edge glass protectors are bad even the name brand ones ...

Just received the Ghostek Atomic 2.0 Case. Even though Screen is not glass does not feel that back. No stickiness like plastic films. But for now just had it on for some hours so can't really say for long run yet.
It is a bit wider like a little over 1/4" more than the UAG case. Which adds to black borders on the front as seen on the pictures. So if you already had trouble using it with one hand, this would cause a bit more trouble.
The thickness is about the same as the UAG case when both are facing screen down.
This case advertises Waterproof but has 2 openings for the speaker grill on top and the home button on bottom. I would expect water could get in through those openings. Screen is dot matrix.
The look of the case for me is nice and does not make it look ugly in my perspective. As because the screen guard as they call it make it look like the screen is showing more than some cases that adds front black plastic borders on top and bottom.
The one thing is you might want to use wireless charging more due to having to open up ports more often if using a usb charger.
Here are some pictures I took. Sorry about quality. The best Camera I have is the GS7 edge. lol.
http://imgur.com/a/osNxm
Right now I'm using it with the TANAAB Screen protector.
I'll post more about it. But first reactions seems to be a good case but would depend on how you would see it and if the 1/4" width bigger than a UAG case would be a drawback or not.
It Seems that Ghostek send several out to Mobilefun or Uviyo in batches but haven't shipped through their main site.
Update:
Update about the openings mentioned above. The waterproof works and does not get inside case if there's nothing that raises the area where the openings are. I had the TANAAB TGSP that doesn't go full length of the phone let water in but when removed and tested no water went in. So waiting to test it with a similar TGSP like GPEL2 that fully extends the the phone and see how that works.
When With TANAAB. Sensitivity didn't change and could provide good protection if needed as the outside screen is just a thin plastic film.
Just wanted to point this out.

I just swapped out my Note 7 for the s7 edge and purchased the Defender and has crazy problems with the screen registering the touches. I then removed the screen protector now the phone is loose in the case and the bottoms don't align anymore. So I did the OtterBox warranty and when that case comes in I'll get a refund from Sprint for the Defender and go with a different case. Did you remove the screen protector and have the same button issues? Also like the screen was pushing the phone down in the case which aligned the buttons. Really sucks it just doesn't work without the thick crappy built in screen protector.

*AVOID* Skinomi Tech Glass - Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Glass Screen Protector

The packaging is fancy, install is pretty straight forward... but all the means nothing if the screen protector doesn't cover the whole screen, nor adhere to it either. There is about 1-2 mm on both sides that is left uncovered by the screen protector, and then about 2-3mm where the screen protector does not adhere to the screen leaving an ugly effect. While the part that's not adhered to the screen is only noticeable while the screen is off, the portion uncovered is noticeable with the screen on. You can tell where the screen protector ends and portion not cover begins because of the curved edge of the protector. And there is an annoying rainbow effect when looking at the edge of the screen protector at an angle when the screen is off.
I wonder if these people actually "test" these screen protectors before they start selling them. Or they just go off the design specs available online when measuring.

I've got mine when they were promo'd on slickdeals for like 95 cents. The packaging is nice but there does seem to be a lot of complaints about halo's and whatnot, haven't put it on yet. Quess i shoulda researched before i bought
I installed the skinomi a while ago and it had halo but was sized much better than what is pictured here. I wonder how there can be so much variability in the manufacturing process.

Have you tried contacting Skinomi before creating a thread like this? It's very possible you just got a bad protector. Keep in mind glass protectors won't cover the entire front glass since it's slightly curved at the edges, but it does look like yours is a bit small. I have a Skinomi glass protector on my Note5 and it covers the entire visible display quite nicely (almost perfect to the edges of the display). No halo effect either.
They'll likely give you a free replacement.
Someone might have accidently packaged a different protector from another phone.
I would contact the manufacturer and they'll probably send you the correct one.
Ya sorry but i used the promotion on here and got one for .95 shipped and overall it adhered good and is sized much better than yours. Only at the bottom right corner where i believe my fingernail scraped away some of the adhesive lifting it back up was it not sticking.

Other than the slight "halo" mine fits just fine. It's doing its job of protecting the screen
Halo all the way around. I tossed mine. My phone is naked now but I will be going back to matte screen protectors when they arrive. Ran through too many glass protectors and all of them have halo. Not paying $30+ for a screen protector.

I ordered two of these (in case one arrived cracked/damaged) then I would not have to wait on a replacement to keep my phone protected. And if both arrived with out damage, then I would have a spare if the 1st was damaged during use. Both that I received were exact same size, and neither covered the display entirely.
I had no issues with "halo" effect in the screen protector itself. My issue was it does not cover the entire screen (the screen not the glass front.)
And I'm well aware that glass screen protector do not go from edge to edge of the front of the device; yet they should at least cover the actual display itself.

I have to say the screen protector can not be the way as you wanted if your screen has a little curve edge .
most of the affordable screen protector just sized down a little bit , it is easy to make also , will reduce the cost of the product
and it will be easy to go with case
as i know you have a supcase , why did you still use the screen protector ?

I've been using Android since 2008 on my T-mobile G1, and have bought new devices every year. I know how a screen protector should look and function.
Stopping the screen protector before it even covers the actual display is not acceptable or how they fit properly. (and incase you are not aware "display" is the part of the device that produce the imagery, the visual interactive part when you press the power button, not the bezel or "entire" front of the phone.)
You are stalking my reviews on Amazon, gonna start stalking them on Xda also?
And as far as your comment about SUPCASE; I have many cases, SUPCASE, Otterbox, Spigen, and UAG. Also several off brand cases.
I don't use the same case all the time, I like to switch it up. And having a screen protector on the device allows me to use cases that don't
have them built in (which most do not)

OnePlus 3 Tempered Glass suggestion

I live in desert area and there literally unlimited amount of sand everywhere!
can anyone suggest me a good tempered glass? I have checked some on amazon but reviews says they suck!
I have had two different TGSP now and they both End up the same. Does not stick to the edges due to the curved screen. But mine does not Collect lint at all even though it does not adhere to the screen.
I have not tested orzly or similar but they seem to work bad with cases so.. heard though that orzly were coming with a new model soon that is slimmer.
Tried a few, all junk.. Until i bought the orzly brand. The one with the black tinted frame.
I could be lucky but It fits perfectly, stick securely to the screen and is now holding for 10days of very heavy use without a scratch or bubble or anything.! Can be used with the original sandstone cover and does cover the whole screen!

I think it is the best for phones with cases even though there are issues with the "Halo" and it doesn't go edge to edge. The edge to edge or full coverage tgsp pull up with cases.

It depends on how you are aligning the TGSP. For my personal preference I've installed it a little more towards the left side to maintain perfect readability and on the left I can see 1.5 mm halo effect that is like some 2.D visual bending effect. With the screen on you notice a some small rainbow effect but that is the only noticeable distortion. I will send some picture later
Has anyone tried the TGSP from OnePlus? Does seem to be on the pricier side, but since it's from OP, it shouldn't have any problems with fitting at least

This is like the only quality tgsp available in my area, so can you tell me, does it fit with casings like the tudia merge? Cause I'm thinking of buying/
Using Nilkin Amazing H+ PRO. It doesn't stick all the way because of the curved screen but it doesn't colect dust in those gaps. Actually no glass for OP3 sticks to the very end. It's all transparent (no black areas), and covers the front camera.
I saw this review and went for it. Can confirm that everything in the video is true.
EDIT: Can't confirm any compatibility with cases since I don't have and don't use any.
EDIT: Got a refund, the glass started to completely come off the top of the phone, and what with covering the notification light and a bit of the front-facing camera, that was the end of it.
I put the Pleison tempered glass protector on my OP3 yesterday; it's the 'new version' screen protector found on Amazon. It's OK, it covers the screen (I've also got it in a Spigen Neo Hybrid case), but the cutout for the front-facing cam isn't exact, there's a bit of 'shadow' on the right-side of the cam when you go to take a picture/video chat/etc. It also completely blocks the notification light, which is a PITA.
The top of the protector isn't 100% adherent to the screen, there's just a tiny bit of gappage that you can feel. Also, it makes it a little less than responsive when swiping down to open up the status bar/Notification Bar, you have to make sure to press a little harder than you normally would.
There was a little 'rainbow' effect going on when I first installed it, but that went away by the end of the day. All in all it seems like one of the better protectors out there, given Amazon reviews, but I don't think any company's got it down 100% yet. I have no idea why......

Brought the OnePlus TGSP with the phone a few months ago. The glass is the same size as the film that came with the phone, so it doesn't cover edge to edge. Pretty annoying because there's about 1 mm gap on each side between the edge of the screen and the TGSP. I haven't put it on yet.
It seems like all of the TGSP leave a halo effect based on the reviews.
I am using the Orzly glass and I am not fascinated about it.
Yes it covers the whole screen, yes it is compatible with the original OnePlus Snadstone hard case.
What i don't like is that it collects a lot of fingerprints thus making the screen hellish in direct sunlight. Add this to the clearly visible dots and one of the advantages of OP3 is gone.
I am still researching for a good TGSP and might try the new one from OP.

Pelosi Sandstone Protective Hard Cover

I searched and did not find a thread on this. I was originally going to opt in to buy the Nillkin slim case but it did not cover the bottom and top parts of the phone.... but this one does! So in case anyone is looking for a slim case, with a great feel to it that adds a bit of grip (due to the sandstone feel), this is the case for you. Can I request that you post some more close up shots of the front of the phone with the case on? I'm particularly interested in how much the lip covers the screen.

Had that cover, its ok, but the only problem I had with it, when removing from pocket, it pulls my pocket out, because it sticks with it.

1) The material is different (TPU vs. hard case).
2) The slim factor is different (the Spigen case is thicker, longer, and wider).
3) The Spigen case will most likely protect more than this Pelosi case.
So if you're going for slim factor, get this case but if you want protection for your phone, I believe you're better off with the Spigen case.

I am a little biased because I have installed BSE protectors on electronics/phones I have owned, as long as BSE offers the option to as I think it is a fantastic product (good value for the money, shipping is extremely cheap to Toronto, Canada). It's not the same as a regular PET screen protector. I think you're talking about those plastic protectors but I find those scratch easily, and also, the application is different. I have yet to put a deep or noticeable scratch on a BSE skin but again, this depends on how you handle the phones/electronics. I even have this BSE skin on my Pebble watch and that thing takes a beating. Still no scratches visible on the screen protector itself on the watch.
I don't believe there's any oleophobic coating at all on the BSE skin, and if there is, super minimal that I don't even notice it ? With that said, I don't think it's fair for me to comment on the "oleophobic coating" (or maybe lack thereof) because I don't typically handle my phone if I have handled (oily) food. With regular use, I don't notice much fingerprints so it's not something that has jumped out at me.
I have had no issues with yellowing, and the "orange peel" look is VERY VERY minimal compared to something like XtremeGuard (the yellowing issue/orange peel was horrible on that). I had this BSE on my Note 4; had no issue with the S-pen gliding on it. The glossy screen protector from BSE won't cut into the clarity of the phone's display so that's not something to worry about. I have tried glass screen protectors and OK, maybe you can tell side-by-side the difference in clarity by a little bit, but typically, the glass protectors are used for drop protection. I prefer the BSE because the fingerprints on the glass bother me, and my main concern are scratches on the screen, not a shattered screen *knock on wood*.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to post this.
Looks like it offers very little protection on the front side though so I will be sticking with my Spigen Rugged. If only this phone was more popular, manufacturers would make more cases. I get jealous of iPhones for having all the cool phone cases.
Thanks again!

Case just arrived today (seems tough)

I just received the case pictured below. Seems like a pretty solid case. The usb slot has a flap over it. The speakers are covered but ported out the front of the case. The same with the microphone. Seems to pick up audio fine. Case looks like it's uniform for both the 4/4x (I have the 4x snapdragon and ordered as such but it also has a hole in the middle of the top that would work for the 4). All ports are available on the top of the phone. 2 pieces one rubber inner and one plastic outer. I like it. The standard full screen tempered glass fits the window perfectly. I would recommend putting the case on first then the tempered glass to get a perfect fit.
There are many dealers on Aliexpress with this case. Several colors. I got the red one and another black one.
The only thing I don't like is because of the way the buttons are you lose the tactile click when you press them. It's just the rubber is thick enough that you can't feel it. The buttons are responsive, they just don't have that clicky feel.

I have the screen protector that has the flexible edges on my phone right now. So the main viewing area is tempered glass and the edges are a soft plastic material. The backside of the glass is completely covered with adhesive so it's good in that aspect. However the case as it comes seems to cause the edges to lift up. I used my Dremel Rotary tool to trim the inside rim of the case and now it looks perfect. I'd say doing that now I'm 90 percent happy with the case and screen protector combination.
Thanks @prisoner1969 for the post.
I had ordered this case from eBay just before your review was posted - still waiting for it to arrive, but hopefully it will be good for me too.
Which screen protector are you referring to - is there a link you are able to post or search term that I could use please? I have a tempered glass protector intended for the Note 4X, but it does not go to the edges of the screen.

I have it reviewed in the "tempered glass" thread. Again without modifying the case the edge of the protector might lift up. So far it's the best tempered glass solution I've found. I have about 10 pieces of glass total from different vendors and this style is great. The only problem is you can't see the buttons on the bottom if you use this one. However I don't find that a big deal since we all know where our buttons are

I liked the look of the case you posted. So I bought one today. I ordered the black one with the red trim. I don't mind if it's a little heavy. I'm just looking for a good case that works well with the screen protector that I have.
pls giv link

Okay this case works perfectly with the hybrid tempered glass with the soft edges that claim to be carbon fiber. So far the best combo for glass and case that I've found

Cases with Built-in Screen Protectors?

Hey all just wondering if anyone has come across any good quality cases with built in screen protectors ?
I got the Ghostek Nautical and it was really poor quality

I actually still have it, just don't use it
I ripped the screen protector out and bought a couple plastic screen protectors
they work fine, but I saw another case I wanted, and got that instead
but the supcase is great otherwise, I had the same one for my previous note 5 with no issues, but for the note 8, I had to press the buttons harder for screen to respond
bump?

Bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072W8X2SK
Works great!!
It comes with a lifetime guarantee.
When I first got it, I panicked and after like 16 hours I still had a bunch of bubbles and ripped it off to try again. At the same time I said let me check them on their guarantee. I sent an email saying its not as easy to do as the description states and they said no problem and shipped me a new pack of 2.
So with the 2nd one from my original pack, I put it on again, same thing happened, after 24 hours still had a bunch of bubbles like a bad car tint job. But as they say, be patient. after 48 hours I was down to only 3 bubbles remaining. Took 48 hours in addition to that for these final 3 stubborn bubbles to go away, but now its all smooth , looks great, looks perfect really. Well worth the 8 bucks, and got a new pack waiting just incase I drop it or snag it on something in the future
This is the one I've been using. I bought pink one for the wife also.
i-Blason Galaxy Note 8 Case, [Heavy Duty Protection] [Clear Back] [Magma Series] Shock Reduction / Full body Bumper Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 2017 (Black)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074W3WBVC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_F8d5zbQ0ZXMBP
I don't get some of the complaints about having to press harder. Either people aren't snapping the top onto the phone snuggly or they have different revisions or defective. I am able to use it as I did without a case. My wife's works great too. I would definitely hear about it if it didn't.
My Unicorn Beetle Note 8 case with the built in screen protector came, sadly after I put the whitestone dome on it and apparently it has major touch issues with the whitestone dome on the phone so it is basically useless to me. I think the bigger issue is these curved screens that really don't add anything to the functionality of the phone.
I just got the "i-Blason, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 case,Full-body Rugged Clear Bumper Case with Built-in Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 2017 Release (Black) " today and this looks like it is going to be a very good case $19.99 from Amazon.
It has the little rubber doors/seals for the charging port and the head set jack, thin profile yet has good corner protection, buttons work well and has easy access to the S-Pen.
I had the Unicorn Beetle for my Galaxy J3V and it was a very good case too, with full front and back protection. I doen't think you can go wrong with either if you are looking for a full front and back case with extra water protection.

It's not an issue of defect or misuse. The fact that the protector doesn't stick to the screen is what causes the touch issues. You may naturally tap a little harder than some when you use your device. My wife has no issued with mine but I couldn't stand it. I popped out the protector and just use the case.

I'm not pushing down or tapping at all. As soon as my finger touches the surface it registers. I can slide my finger up and down scrolling just barely touching the screen. I can rapidly slide it around without it missing at all. I typed this reply manually barely touching with no swiping just to test. There's probably just some differences and over time if I constantly remove my device from the case it may start to fail too. It doesn't have to stick, just has to make constant contact.

You are very lucky sir! Over time it will start lifting away from the screen as the phone is being held. They are great cases though, I just don't like the implementation of the protector but they didn't have a choice with this curved screen.
Now what sucks, are all these rip off tempered glass half made protectors!!!!?
I'm still in the middle of trying cases myself. I've tried 3 different waterproof cases and I haven't really enjoyed any of them so far. Most of them have the screen protector too loose fitting to the phone. I just bought another one off Amazon then I'm going to try and I'm hoping this is the final and last one, it's made by Tom Plus. Really they need to make it a tight interference fit when the cases snap shut and allow the screen protector to stretch over / form to the glass, but it appears most of them don't work that way.

I tried that one but the slight gap between the device and protector caused me to have to type harder. Don't see why all these companies don't just through a tempered glass one on their with adhesive or tight fit. Would work way better.
Anything new yet? I want to get a good case with a screen protector built in, because I can't find a good Tgsp for the Note 8 other than the Zagg Curve elite, which is out of stock. I currently have a Spigen Tough armor with no screen protector and don't want to risk it.
