Xposed Framework for Android N - Xposed General

Now we are at the time of the year were we are supposed to ask that one infamous question. When will be Xposed Framework for Android N be released? I know it's really too early to ask but still want to throw in the question just to be sure.

After Android N get stable

Right after you ask for an ETA again.

I think some more changes/time and full AOSP release are necessary, because auf some bigger changes of ART: http://developer.android.com/preview/api-overview.html#jit_aot

Is there a time of the year where ETAs are acceptable? I keep reading that it's rude.

Yeah, you are allowed to ask for an ETA between February 30th and February 31st But only on those two days.

ETA questions should be instant bans.

The source code of Android N isn't released yet, so I can't work on Xposed support for it yet.

Just curious if you have any other platforms that you use to announce developments for xposed? Twitter, Facebook, G+, or a blog for example. I try to keep an eye on these forums, but it would be nice to be able to force a push notification/email for your work.
Thanks,

I agree that asking for ETAs is crass, but the status of Xposed support is the sole deciding factor for me when I consider whether to upgrade my OS. If there is no Xposed support, I will not run the OS. I ended up skipping Lollipop entirely and jumped straight from Ice Cream Sandwich to Marshmallow due to this. The question of Xposed support even controls my hardware purchases: if the hardware I want requires a version of Android that does not have Xposed support then I will not purchase the hardware.
I doubt I am alone.
I am polite enough not to inquire about ETAs, but I am definitely googling about current Xposed support status anytime I consider a hardware or software upgrade—which is how I landed here today.

We have been down this road before with several other devices...
HTC has ALWAYS released the source code....within a few months or so.
You can email all you want, but your going to get generic responses, and its going to be released anyways.
The phone is only available for pre-order and its not even the 29th yet...so give them sometime.
Cheers!
Will having the kernel source for the Incredible make rooting the device easier because of the potential for "work arounds".
From what Paul is saying over at Modaco, it seems HTC is going out of their way to make the Desire and Incredible "more secure"... which means locking down bootloader, kernel, etc. More of a pain for rooting... agh!

Its a marketing strategy because they know people are going to mod it anyway, so this way if people mod it, they are more inclined to stay with the device and HTC.

Android L build number - LPV87A?

Since 4.4.4 was KRT84U KTU84U, I've been wondering what the build number for Android L would be.
In this post, efrant shed some light on how the build is numbered.
efrant said:
Adrynalyne is close, but not exactly right.
First letter = release family, e.g. F is Froyo
Second letter = branch code that allows Google to identify the exact code branch that the build was made from, and R is by convention the primary release branch
Third letter and the two numbers = date code. The letter counts quarters, with A being Q1 2009. Therefore, F is Q2 2010. The two digits count days within the quarter, so F85 is June 24 2010.
Last letter = individual versions related to the same date code, sequentially starting with A; A is actually implicit and usually omitted for brevity.
Source: http://source.android.com/source/build-numbers.html

Based on this, here's what I can come up with:
First letter: L
Second letter: R is for release, but this L build is a preview, so I'm not sure. O and T might be for OTA updates. How about P for preview?
Third letter and the two numbers: U90 (Same quarter as 4.4.4, but released 6 days after) V87 according to the calculator.
Last letter: Since this will be the first release, I'm guessing this will be A or just blank.
So, it appears as though the Android L build number could be LPU90A. LPV87A! Thanks to...

I believe it would be a pain for the moderator to keep cleaning and closing thread every time despite the same warning again and again or rather call it a request.
I believe XDA should come up with a way to stop these same topic thread maybe when a thread is opened it should be brought in notice to the respective moderator and if find suitable then allow it appear public.:highfive:

Use the version you develop. Clearly that doesn't exist yet
Same thing every android release. It'll be out after the official release, and source code drops. Don't know how long it will take, but it'll get there. We had a very long wait for 5.0 because of massive changes, not to mention that every time he got it working on one dev version, it was broken as heck on the next dev version, so we just have to wait and see. Hope that explains it well enough. Better than a "When it's ready", or "none" answer everyone always gives.
The Nexus images are now live so I would guess the source won't be far behind it. Can someone comment on the number of changes to ART compared to Lollipop. From the surface it seems that Marshmallow should be 5.2 and not 6.0 but maybe all the changes are under the hood.
It is coming:
rovo89:
"In framework version 74, I have fixed some more incompatibilities which could lead to bootloops or crashes. I assume that most of these crash logs contained the string "Incompatible set properties", which is actually a consequence of previous method verification errors. It's hard to say which ROMs and devices were affected - but flashing the new version shouldn't hurt even if everything looks fine with older versions. If you do notice any issues and are sure that it's not caused by yourself, you have higher chances of getting them fixed if you open a detailed GitHub issue (usually I will need at least a full logcat).
I won't be able to work on Xposed for the next 2-3 weeks - no time for development, support or questions at all. If the rumors I have read are right, I should be ready just in time to start porting Xposed to M."

Remember, the reason why it took so long for an official version for android 5.0 was because lollipop uses ART environment and xposed whas always made for dalvik originally.
So I think it will take less time now.

I haven't been able to find it, only snarky comments from users here about how its obviously not done. I have checked all the stickeys in this forum as well as the development one...
I doubt you will get much info on progress, as users tend to hold any claims against developers... But I would have though there would be something official saying "its in progress" to try and help stop the inquiries.
Oh well, will be a nice surprise when it drops.

any dev checked art and stuff in oreo regarding for xposed, any idea??
It's already released. Don't you know. Search man.
It's been around for a while!!
Oreo is SDK 26, and AFAIK, it hasn't been unofficially released. [emoji848]
Anyways, look at the official thread's last post. Also, on GitHub, you can see that Rovo stated Oreo isn't too different from Nougat, so it shouldn't be hard to port to Oreo at all.
Just wait it out if you want maximum stability, or go around accidentally bricking yourself, or having a somewhat working Xposed.

As long as it isn't KitKat to Lollipop then we should be okay, I hope.
Man, I lost some great Xposed modules after KitKat. They just never worked right after that. Such as App Exposed, which okay.. kind of "half worked" on Lollipop.
In my opinion, KitKat was the last great Android OS for those of us who care more about customization than security.

Come on now man, no need to be a "White Knight". The OP was just asking if there was any update regarding Xposed for Oreo, which is a perfectly reasonable question to ask in the Xposed sub-forum. He may not be a developer and may not know how much time it takes to actually port over from one version to another. And one of my biggest pet peeves is when people are like "The developer is doing that in his private time, he has a private life". This is such a patronizing statement. Everyone knows that XDA is a community of people who dedicate their personal time to progress technology. This does not need to be stated every time someone asks for an ETA on anything. It's like stating that the grass is green or the sky is blue today. Please stop with this non-sense as it derails any progression in our community.

Sorry but i don't agree that it is reasonable. For two reasons.
One, Rovo did post about the status for O in the status thread that only him post. Ask for ppl on XDA make no sense when rovo himself just updated us about the status for N and O.
And second reason i don't agree is that there is no Xposed for N yet (not official). Isn't it obvious that O has no status as N is still in dev?
