I would not advise getting these devices from retailers. There are reports that retailers have been installing malware on an already malware ridden system.

How much did you buy it for? Maybe wait for official launch in April? It will be available on amazon.

Well considering that they are known to bundle some in their selves I can't say for sure. I am banned by my job from using their devices due to security concerns.

You are very wrong and might want to do a bit of research on it. It is part Of the reason they started locking the bootloader.
Never take anything at face value. Mainly coming from China.

It's comforting to not run an AntiVirus Scan (like AVG) on MIUI.... And also not to monitor the network communications. Not knowing these things is more comforting, when buying a phone from China.
Meizu said something funny, the following quote comes from a Software developer (working at Meizu), after AVG detected suspicious behaviour in a system app:
-Global AntiVirus Software scans for different code than Chinese. We scan our Products with Chinese AntiVirus Software to guarantee that everything is fine. Don't worry.
Don't know about this.

Here are a few links from just over a year ago.
https://bluebox.com/popular-xiaomi-phone-could-put-data-at-risk/
http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...and-security-risks-up-to21-days-to-unlock.htm
There was even an article from India a fee years back about their security risks

I guess the only way to be safe is to live long enough to install some Cyanogenmod or similar.

Well now that they have locked the bootloaders and with their history of kernel source release it might be awhile.

Who pays to root your phone

Mod edit: Thread close as my paranoid side tells me this is free advertisement. If not, thread closed for teh LULZ then.
Cheerio,
Or is it just simply for people who do not know anything about rooting trying to root
why root when you dont know ?
hmm
maybe just maybe
Well, if you are completely technologically illiterate, then paying $35 dollars is nothing compared to paying $500 to replace your device if you ruin it. Don't you agree?

There is alot of reasons people would want their phone rooted even if they didn't know how to do it. Remove bloatware, speed up the UI, use incompatible apps...and alot more.
I do agree that you should do it yourself to know how to fix it if something goes wrong, but when it comes down to it, it is their phone and they can do with it as they please.
The same could be said for basically anything though. If you can't change your own oil, should you be driving a car?

I agree with this. I cant root my phone (on my own). But I followed someone elses guide & was succesful. My GF has a wildfire S, & has constant problems with lack of memory. She cant root, or even follow a guide, but it needs doing to make the phone usable.
Guess it's a service they are providing but consumers might as well go on YouTube or Google and save yourselves $30. God knows how their software works. Good luck to them trying to explain to someone on how to unlock the HTC One X for example with their software.

Lol you should explain to them that that's not how It works!
Rooting a phone Is a joke IMO, Who would pay $35? I mean If It were flashing ROM's and what not then I somewhat understand that as that's where the brick can happen but can you really brick doing a simple root that takes less then 5 minutes?

Umm no. You have far more of a chance bricking your phone during the root process than flashing a ROM. Rooting can involve unlocking bootloaders, changing bootloaders, using unsecure boot images, flashing unsecure kernels...all of which can brick a phone...even if doen correctly. Flashing a ROM, 99.99999% of the time will not brick your phone.
I think this is only for very noobs

I Wonder why people complain so much for something that is not marketed in their country of residence yet. the nearest to singapore is australia, have you guys check how much it cost down there? Its always have been the case of supply and demand, never been an entitlement. some people willing to pay more to have early access or some even deem, the local price won't be as attractive as it's imported. if you want to do direct conversion comparison of the price please find a way to buy an US nexus 7 and then find a way to instruct your US nexus 7 fly all the way from US to Singapore for free.
IMHO posting this kind of post makes singaporean sounds like a whiner, or have a blatant ignorance.
not to be a grammar nazy, but so the mod won't close the thread as you wished to maybe you want to re read what you have typed for the thread purpose. and agree HWZ forum is have been heavily populated and have a load of information in it.

As about Availability in Greek Stores, is in late January, as an LG Hellas member stated. But there are always surprises anyway.
Feel free to ask anything related to the device and help each other.

Is there another Greek thread because I see last message is half a year ago...or do I have such a rear phone; ?

My Nexus retourned to me from the assistance with Android Key Lime Pie

I am holding a Nexus 5 with a beta test operating system, Android Key Lime Pie. Probably it was the trial for KitKat.
I saw that something similar had already happened to one user MOD EDIT but unlike its my version is a bit different - as you can see from the system information attached - and my nexus is fully functional except for some sporadic bug system. I also have access to some menus of testing and development.
I uploaded a video on Youtube MOD EDIT where you can see the special features of this version of the operating system.
Selling or advertising of selling is prohibited on XDA Forums

This Android release has never been officially distribuited and is a unique collector's item.
Except some google researcher , there are not any others around.. for this reason it is now for sale on ebay
I think you'll find on ebay that your phone is worth about as much as my phone, GtrCraft's phone, and firemaned's phone.
There's no such thing as rare software. Hell, if you want to, you can make more of them yourself. That's if you find enough (any?) people to make it worthwhile.
Now, if it had the original flappy birds installed...
You may think that even a dollar with a print defect always worth a dollar..
Do you want more information about the operating system and options of the hidden menu?
Seen the same thing with earlier kernels noted to be fake as well.

The thing is, I can flash an engineering build and have exactly what you have. Now if your hardware had something different (more thermal paste, different logo, etc) you might have something but for sure software isn't the same.
Don't sell it on EBay, it's embarrassing.
If you do, I'll flash key lime pie and load flappy birds and undersell you by $1.

You make me laugh because it considered only the technological side of the device without understanding that has a value for some collectors of rarities.
Not sell it because it has an advanced software, I sell it because it has a unique software.

Any chance of root being patched on non-exploding Note 7 2.0?

I'm waiting for the new batch of Notes to arrive and got me wondering if Samsung might or could do something to stop root. It doesn't seem like they could or really have the time to worry about it with all the problems currently. Also, with a bit of a bad stigma, do you think they will sweeten any deals to get people to buy these former bombs. Personally I love that Samsung is taking a hit and getting knocked down a peg. I still love these phone but all of the sudden the 1% rooting community has a little bigger effect on sales.
That tiny routing community... against the fees they can make from Samsung Pay. Think about it.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
There are August and September Android security patches that the Note 7 didn't get. Anyone short of a Samsung project engineer that thinks they can answer that question is probably full of it.
I think a lot would have to change to make the kernel leak not work. And yes , I don't think Samsung will care about us tweakers still but I still like war ching Samsung squirm just a little.
I think the real question is will Samsung be updating this phone at all or will it become the unwanted step child

No I haven't took the update. I'll let somebody else be brave and try that one. Hopefully jovy puts out an updated rom with the new firmware.
The new update is not rootable and you won't be able to go back to PGC if you take the update. If you really want root i advise you to NOT let the rep power on/ setup your phone.....it will likely grab the update and you'll be doomed. Best practice: Do not place sim in device OR connect to wifi Until you have root.

If you really want root i advise you to NOT let the rep power on/ setup your phone.....it will likely grab the update and you'll be doomed. Best practice: Do not place sim in device OR connect to wifi Until you have root.

A little extreme lol... The update is 400mb so on LTE that will still take a bit to download, which you have the option to pause for quite a while (this is what I did while I rooted it). You just need to pay attention to the phone.

Tell that to the people that got the update without knowing it....and the others that think their phone shipped already updated because it happened so quickly. I'd rather be safe than sorry....ymmv
***Also "will take a bit to download" ?? ROFL
I see speeds of 25-65 Mbps @ 65Mbps the file takes about 45 seconds to download fyi...

My replacement phone was downloading it real fast, but it let me pause it and then I rooted it before it applied it.

Yup you'll lose Samsung Pay, Secure Folder and SHealth (if you update SHealth after rooting)
