Stock marshmallow downloaded from this link >>
XT1068_TITAN_RETAILDSDS_6.0_MPB24.65-34_cid7_CFC.xml.zip
and those code with mfatboot-v2
Code:
mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot.exe erase modemst1
mfastboot.exe erase modemst2
mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot.exe erase cache
No loss of anything
Update (15/04/2016) :- Its happening to my phone in every restart, and I have no idea why. Last time my phone got switched off because it ran out off battery and I saw motoboot not flashing until the battery is charged upto 5-10% or so.
Check if the battery is ok (green, not red) and Fastboot reason should be Volume down key pressed off course.
So if you guys ever face this problem please go to the fastboot menu by pressing vol- key while restarting, connect to usb and wait till the battery is ok (green).

Same problem..... Failed to validate system image...what to do now?? somebody please help...fast......

Guys you just need to fastboot flash the factory firmwares you were on (For eg. if you were on Lollipop then you have to fastboot flash stock lollipop firmware, if marshmallow, and same if MM)
It will solve the problem, I had my device into this approx. 3-4 times. I survived it. cheers :good:
Edit: This method works on locked bootloader too, as it is official.

I have solution.... i had same problem... and searched it now my moto G2 is running successfully..... 1st You have to download stock firmware (official may be)...after that you have to install via fastboot with ADB codes....
follow instruction=========>>>>>
1. Extract the downloaded firmware file to a folder.
2. Download and extract mfastboot and copy its content to the same folder where the extracted firmware files.
3. Reboot your Moto G into the Bootloader Mode. To do so, turn off your phone and then press and hold the Volume (-) and Power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
4. Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.
5. Now, launch a command window from inside the firmware folder (click shift key, right click and select open command window here option).
6. In the command window, issue the following commands one by one:
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
NOTE: If firmware includes four system.img_sparsechunk or you do not want to erase the userdata, you can modify the command. You have now successfully installed a fresh ROM on your Moto G and the phone the phone should work as usual.
Also, depending on which version you are going to and from, you may need to try using the standard fastboot rather than mfastboot.
that's it... Enjoy...... (suggesting to download 5.0.2)

I searched for this issue before posting and did used mfastboot to flash only those three .img (motoboot, boot, recovery) files from stock marshmallow ( XT1068_TITAN_RETAILDSDS_6.0_MPB24.65-34_cid7_CFC.xml.zip ) downloaded from this link >> https://mega.nz/#F!29RX1L6I!gfxcXgqkAhf5GDhr_aPGYg!H8gEQK6T
so you are suggesting i should falsh all files but not the system right ??

[Q] Black Screen after boot animation

Hi,
I have a moto g 2014 xt1068 stuck at a black screen just after the motorola boot animation.
The beginning:
It all started because one guy started messing with the phone, unlocked it's bootloader and installed some custom roms. As the guy told me, the phone run out of juice while "configuring the android apps" phase and after charging it got stuck after the boot animation ever since.
What i tried to fix the phone:
First i tried to install multiple stock roms, from for example windows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore.
I did it in osx and adapted the bash script, following every command. It always worked perfectly while flashing but after restarting i got the same result every time - black screen after boot animation.
One example of my flashing script
Code:
#!/bin/sh
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
read -p "Press [Enter] key to reboot..."
mfastboot reboot
echo "Finished!"
Then i tried to install a custom recovery tool:
I picked TWRP and downloaded it from both the official website and this thread. The flashing went smoothly but when i restarted it, got into fastboot, selected the recovery and booted to the recovery it booted into the stock recovery! My flashing didn't made any difference whatsoever.
The commands to flash the twrp img
Code:
$ mfastboot flash recovery TWRP_2.8.0.1_Titan_v2.img
$ mfastboot reboot recovery
Finally someone told me that sometimes some phones can be fixed by unplugging the battery...
I did it as a moment of pure despair and open the phone, unplugged the cable from the board and got everything together again. After trying to flash a stock rom and a custom recovery i got the same results as above.
I really would apreciate some help. Anything i should try? Something i did wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Vinxe
Did you try wiping ur cache and Dalvik-cache?? And when do u see the black screen, after the motorola logo or after the boot animation??

[BRICK?] Moto G 8GB XT1064

Hello XDA!
- Canadian Moto G 2014 XT1064 (8 GB)
- Bootloader Locked
- Unable to enable USB debugging since "bricked"
1) I downloaded Motorola Drivers, fastboot, mfastboot v2, RETUAWS_XT1064_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid9_CFC.xml.zip
2) My Moto G was able to go into boot loader mode, but now it won't.
3. I was trying to:
mfastboot oem lock begin
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img - it fails on this step -> something about a failed partition
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
Now my device won't even turn on (can't go into boot loader mode)
Any suggestions?!!? Let's fix this together
NEVER FLASH STOCK FIRMWARE ON A LOCKED BOOTLOADER !
UNLOCK bootloader first and then only flash stock firmware via fastboot mode by PC.
Try going to Service Center, maybe they will have to change the motherboard of your G2.

Moto G XT1068 2014 bricked and stuck in fastboot

I tried to flash my Moto G XT1068 from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) 5.1.1 to the stock firmware and relock the bootloader.
I followed these steps I found on a website:
mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot.exe erase modemst1
mfastboot.exe erase modemst2
mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot.exe erase cache
mfastboot.exe erase userdata
mfastboot.exe oem lock
mfastboot.exe reboot
After I had typed those to the command prompt on the folder I had placed the firmware and mfastboot v2 I found out that the phone didnt reboot, and that it was stuck in the fastboot mode where it says failed to validate system image and something about falling-through boot mode or something.
I read the text again carefully that I didn't do anything wrong, and I didnt. I went to the comments and there were people complaining that it doesnt work and you need to add one command more
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
well I did type that to the command prompt and it did nothing after I tried to reboot again, so I typed all the commands again including the command I mentioned, and still nothing.
now I'm stuck in the fastboot mode where it says:
Failed to validate system image
Fastboot reason: fall-through from not charger boot mode
I'm begging for immediate help
I got the bootloader re-unlocked
I got the phone's bootloader re-unlocked
I'll keep posting more info If I dont solve this mess myself

As far as I can see, you didn't lock the bootloader corectly, use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t2873657
I have same problem, I had to unlock the bootloader again and it worked like normal. I ended up reflashing twrp and going back to 5.1.1 aosp rom. To clarify your phone is probably not bricked. Re unlock the bootloader with fastboot oem unlock {unique code} and flash twrp and the rom of your choice.

I think I have it fixed: just flash the system images again after you do
Code:

You seem to have to flash them twice

fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2

I am using lastest one for xt1064 from here forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/orig-development/original-motorola-firmware-collection-t3153533
For adb and fastboot I am using the 15 second installer, no mfastboot.
I managed to successfully relock the bootloader and get the phone to boot to stock rom but the "unlock warning" boot logo still appears.

i don't know if works on stock bootloader locked, but you can try after you are on stock rom the command
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
with a modify boot logo like this but dont know if will works on locked bootloader...
if you try and the command is accepted and the device don't boot use the command again with the logo.bin file that is in the stock XML zip that you download.
in the case of not be able to flash and error that you described on OP.
before do the commands you need to check how many system.img_sparsechunk files you have and change the commands line according.
Motorola stock rom's may have up to 6 of those file maybe more in the future, the 5x.x have 4 to 6 so you need to add the lines in the script before:
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
the rest doesn't change
All you need is
this official firmware of XT1068 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzr0qvz6uRerOGRfOEptU2p0ZkU/view?usp=sharing
This is the complete zip which is having mfastboot v2 also in that and you just now need to flash below commands correctly, and you're done.
Code:
------------------------------------------------------------------|
Moto G 2014 Stock 5.0.2 Restore Script
mfastboot.exe oem lock begin
mfastboot.exe flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot.exe flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot.exe flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot.exe flash boot boot.img
mfastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
mfastboot.exe flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot.exe erase modemst1
mfastboot.exe erase modemst2
mfastboot.exe flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot.exe erase cache
mfastboot.exe erase userdata
mfastboot.exe oem lock
mfastboot.exe reboot
------------------------------------------------------------------|
hope this'll help you out
Also if you wanna get rid of that "Unlocked Warning" boot logo, you can easily flash any of the logo.bin file successfully on a locked bootloader too. So you can flash your own bootlogo, custom or stock, as you prefer.
Thanks
Thanks!

with locked bootloader you flash the logo.bin and the logo warning disappeared?
Yes and it worked! I have no longer proof of that the warranty has been void / the warranty is back

ok is nice to know that works. But only to remove that warning thing...
Because the bootloader have 3 stats:
Status code 0 =locked with warranty
Status code 3 = unlocked without warranty
Status code 2= relocked but also without warranty
check in the bootloader screen yours must be 2...
Status code 1 is unknown.

Oh, according to that, the tool program which installed the firmware, didnt lock the bootloader. I assumed that it was locked cause i was told that the bootloader warning still exists after relocking so...

Moto G 2014 LTE XT1078 How do I restore stock rom?

Did someone had success restoring stock rom in this device?
I wanted to restore the stock rom, but I have seen people reporting hard bricks after any procedure.
A user posted this Firmware, which is supposedly for my phone.
XT1078_THEA_RETBR_DS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-24.12_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
I was thinking in follow the instructions that the user mendelssohn give here . Maybe I could use that script in this firmware, but do not know if it would work.
Someone managed to do this procedure successfully? If so, what is right procedure?
Thanks in advance.
I've been looking for how to restore the stock recovery, so I could install Android 6.0 from OTA update. I did not flash a custom ROM, because CyanogenMod did not have a stable release for XT1078 then, and it stil does not have at the time I write this. So this file helped me to revert my XT1078 to stock.
But I did not use any script. It's just how I choose to do it, I'd rather know what's going on in every step instead of let a script do things for me. I extracted the file XT1078_THEA_RETBR_DS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-24.12_cid12_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip, and moved the required files to the folder platform-tools on Android SDK. Then these are the commands I used:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2

Just remeber to doublecheck the numbers of systeam sparse file, if your rom have 0 to 7, ou will have to add those
Am i understand?
So, let me see if i understand:
I extract the zip with the rom in the same folder of fastboot (or mfastboot) then, after (double) check the numbers of system sparse file, i'll do this commands?
There is no "collateral effects"?
(I'm asking 'cause I've tried this, boot on a lollipop, and when i tried to reboot, the phone bricked)
Does anybody tried to do this from Cyano?

Android OS gone, unable to mount any partition, etc. Need help.

So I don't know what to do at this point. I will try to provide as much info as I can for you guys to help me out. I bought the Verizon 2014 Moto X variant off Swappa new. The phone was new, but old. It was manufactured in 2014 and upon first boot, it still had KitKat installed. I OTA'd all the updates before unlocking the bootloader from Motorola's website. After unlocking the bootloader, I tried flash TWRP recovery via fastboot. It didn't work - I got a pink message line on the output that I don't remember what it said. I read that there were some issues installing recovery for VZW (?) so using flashify was my other option. So I then rooted the phone and used flashify to install TWRP. It worked. After that, I flashed a 2014 MM Pure Edition rom. It booted fine, but no signal. Yes, I forgot that it doesn't support CDMA, so I then went tried to flash CM13. Today, I started experiencing battery drain on radio and wifi so I tried to flash the official firmware of 5.1 VZW Victara variant. Fastboot and drivers are running fine and fastboot recognizes the phone. So I flashed everything, booted up, and...nothing. Every time I tried to reflash the firmware, I boot to a blinking No Command dead andy screen. Guess recovery wasn't installed? It just kept bootlooping. Out of desperation, I went to see if TWRP worked - it did. Now I ADB pushed the CM13 rom files on my phone to flash. Unfortunately, every time I try to flash anything, every partition is unable to be mounted. I can't factory reset, flash, nothing. Every time I try to wipe, one of the errors is, 'Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid Argument)'. Now at this point, this is where I'm stuck. I still have the bootloader/fastboot, a recovery, but no OS and I can't flash anything. Fastbooting the firmwares won't go through to boot. Can anyone help me on this? I will provide answers to any questions you have. Thanks.
EDIT: I tried to turn off the phone to prevent the phone from dying but I can't even do that. Tried to turn it off via TWRP but it just reboots to TWRP. I have to keep it plugged in. Sigh.

So you have the full stock firmware 5.1 for Verizon XT1096, like the one here:
https://mega.nz/#F!ow8igZRL!Z7vmN8GOpez2bVMYDvEKkg
Can you try:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
TWRP 3.0 seems to be causing problems, maybe corrupting partitions, stick to 2.8.7.1 or earlier.
http://www.invisiblek.org/
Maybe we can try RSD Lite...

I did not get the file from there, but instead got it from AFH. As for the 2 fastboot commands, what should I do with them? They flashed fine when I was putting them in fastboot earlier. As for TWRP, I will flash to 2.8.7.1.
As for RSD Lite, I am running Windows 10 and several versions I have tried will not recognize the phone at all. I'm 95% sure the drivers are in OK status and I am using the OEM cable.

I appreciate you providing help so far. I downloaded the firmware you linked, fastbooted line for line, rebooted, bootloader unlock warning pops up, then the next boot sequence is just the blinking dead andy No Command logo that looks like this:

I'm still stuck. I'm going to flash the 2.x.x TWRP version again. But that's all I'll be able to get right now. Still not able to get an OS installed.

Any errors on the phone during fastbooting firmware files, like "downgrading" etc.
I hope TWRP 2.x will allow you to flash CM.
UPDATE: So I made a little progress. There was a problem mounting and this thread helped with that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2683787
Now I can wipe data, factory reset, flash, etc. in TWRP v2.8.7.1. But when I flash a rom, I reboot system and it boots back to recovery. WTF. Ugh.
EDIT 2: Sad news. Based off this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/warning-downgrade-bootloader-partition-t3105147, looks like I FUBAR'd the phone. Unfortunate that this phone isn't like a Nexus.
its the phone will reboot back to TWRP event you restore backup file on TWRP ?
did you try flash custom rom from TWRP?
