FC on miimoto app and Snapchat record issues - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I got two problems and I know Snapchat doesn't record video It did in past builds and trying to install an old version didn't work.
I have tired messing around with a couple of old fixes floating around but its not working.
Another issue I have is with the new Miimoto app it just goes straight to a FC.
I have tried all cm13 roms and RR but I may try reverting back to LOLIPOP to see if it fixes these issues.
Does anyone have any fixes floating around.

Miitomo Fix
I don't know what your issue with snapchat may be, but I do know that miitomo will FC if it detects root. I bypassed this by installing xposed and then installing a specific module to hide root (I forget its name). Sadly, snapchat will not allow you too sign in with xposed installed (though it works fine if you signed in before installing). Surprisingly miitomo will still work if you uninstall xposed and its module, I suppose it does the root check only once before you log in for the first time. Good luck!
Edit: Here's the link to a reddit thread concerning the miitomo FC. You can find links to the fixes there: https://goo.gl/RoLMuU

i have that snapchat bug too. cant record videos. can take pictures tho

[Q] Built a custom AOSP ROM, sound + video does not work

Hi All,
I wanted to learn how to build an AOSP ROM for my Droid Incredible (original version), and I was finally able to get a working build today (i've been at it for more than a month on and off when I have time).
I downloaded gingerbread-release and used the CM overlay to get the vendor-specific stuff. The proprietary files were pulled from my working OMGB phone (which I understand borrows a lot from cyanogen; well-- the kernel at least).
My problem is that (1) I can't get any audio to play, (2) any time I try to play a video (like Youtube) I get a force close, and (3) the camera wont work.
I'm pretty sure (3) is a totally different problem, as I've seen lots of ROMs where the camera won't work.
Does anyone have any point that I could start on this? I've posted my logcat here: pastebin.com/GPqpD8N3
(sorry-- I'm not allowed to post links yet.)
I googled it but I'm having trouble finding anything pertinent.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you anyone can provide!!
EDIT: By the way, since this post I have changed my setup. All of my proprietary modules are from the CM nightly build now, instead of having modules from OMGB and and overlay from CM. I did this to make it more consistent in case I run in to any more problems.
Sorry -- additional detail that I meant to add in the post (but it won't let me re-edit for 5 minutes):
The bottom of the log shows me trying to play a song in the music player. From what I can tell, /system/bin/mediaserver is crashing and performing a stack dump; however I don't know why or how I can fix it.
It will not play any ringtones either, but the DTMF tones *do* sound when you press on the digits, and the phone/speakerphone work fine as well.
I just figured it out myself... in the logcat there is the line:
frameworks/base/media/libstagefright/omx/OMXMaster.cpp:90 err != OMX_ErrorNoMore
if you go to that file, in line 90:
CHECK_EQ(err, OMX_ErrorNoMore);
I just commented it out and sound works fine.
Now if I can get the camera working... any ideas?
Hmm I know the bugglas beast nightly's had the camera issue.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Thanks, @Kiboe for the reply. I found the fix last night (right after I posted ) on xda-developers through Google Groups.
I implemented @dferreira's suggestion, and it compiled just fine. Now I have a working camera, but video still isn't working. (Also accelerometer isn't working, but I believe I have already found the answer for that).

Xposed framework & Clock plus Daydream don't get along well

I've been running into Daydream problems in conjuction with Xposed Installer. Specifically with Clock plus DayDream by @martinpelant.
You can find all the information I was able to gather here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54258696&postcount=31
As I think this is more a problem of that app I posted the information there. However, when I uninstalled Xposed Framework (that is to say the patches to the system, not the Installer nor the applications that use Xposed) the problem was also gone. Before that step I also tried unselecting ALL Xposed modules and rebooting, deactivating them, uninstalling, etc, etc. As I said the app began working correctly after uninstalling Xposed Framework and problem arose again upon installing the Framework. I must also mention that this problem only happen when using Clock plus Daydream as I tested with other "daydream" apps and they work properly.
In the aforementioned post you will find catlogs, a video and some other information that might be useful.
PS: I repurposed this post as I first posted the problem here before realizing the culpruit was Clock plus

I've been trying to solve this for the last couple of days. I'm not certain that this is an Xposed bug/problem but seems to be the most likely and that's why I post this here.

This looks like a short wakelock to me. As Xposed doesn't use any wakelocks, it seems unlikely that it's the culprit. I obviously can't speak for all the modules, so you should try if it still occurs if you disable them. Or even easier: Just press the uninstall button in Xposed Installer and reboot. If it still occurs, you can be sure that it's neither Xposed nor any module.

I'm really sorry @rovo89. I was in the middle of this post when I was able to find the problem. Somehow it seems I pressed the Post button on the unfinished post. Really sorry about that. The problem was (is) on Clock Plus Daydream. I will repurpose the OP as Xposed might still be somewhat responsible.

[Q] Snapchat flipping pictures upside down on M

Is anyone else having this issue? I've tried stock M and JDX ROM and it happens on both. Now I know its a developer preview and all apps won't work etc etc but a just curious if anyone knew exactly why this was happening and if there was a hotfix I could do? All other apps I use run fin but Snapchat just won't.
Thanks.
SOmeone suggested using GMD Smartrotate from the play store and setting up snapchat. Others have said nothing has worked to rotate the pics.
i reverted back to 5.1.1 cuz im a snapchat whore.

Resolved - Nexus 4 Video playback issue: Android System Webview

I am adding a new thread because this is a very peculiar issue and i still feel something is really wrong in my N4 settings but i have seen some similar or even worse cases with some old gen nexus devices and i have tried some workarounds which don't seem to work so far.
Here is the problem description:
I cant play any videos in Facebook or Twitter official apps.
Facebook says "Error occurred while trying to play this video"
Twitter end up with a black screen and shows nothing( some 1 out of 10 times it acts as audio only with black screen again)
Strange thing is I cant play fb or twitter videos even in chrome browser in my mobile.
Youtube or other players work fine (Vimeo etc.)
Near about everything else works. Youtube app or browser playback is fine with no issues. Mx player runs fine too.
Some background about my device settings:
Android 5.1.1 stock, not rooted
Its using AwesomePlayer instead of NuPlayer in dev options.
There was one time when i was not able to play any video in my device because nuplayer was selected once by mistake and changing to AwesomePlayer helped.
But after that issue around 6 months back, i have done complete factory reset and everything was working fine for 3-4 months, i started getting this issue in last two months or so.
I read some similar issues in Nexus 7 2013 with Android Lollipop but not exactly this.
Is anyone else is facing or had ever faced anything like this?
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? Don't want to factory reset again.
I have tried all usual things like clearing cache, reinstalling those apps but i think this issue is something else as i cant even play those videos in browser too.
Again i enabled the dev options last week and thought changing to NuPlayer might help but that also didnt help. All others settings are default settings.
PS: Intentionally not posting as Q&A as i believe some other older gen nexus devices are facing similar issues with new updates so this might fit well as discussion thread.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note its solved: Reason was the older version of Android System Webview app. Updated it and this issue went away. Hope this helps others facing similar issue.
I think it's something about google webview apk...do you have this app??

What Android System Webview APK do you have installed? (This is essentially the applet which allows 3rd Party apps to access the web). The latest version, 45.0.2454.37 came out yesterday. While I have had this same issue in the past with older Webview versions, yesterdays seems to be working just fine. Go to the Play Store and update to the latest version and see if that resolves.
Yes i have this, In my device it says the version is 44.0.2403.90 and it says its up to date. So maybe the update is not out yet for my region. It makes sense that this is responsible for it as i have auto update on and some new version might be causing this.
What do you guys suggest should i uninstall/reinstall this. Or maybe get an older version?
Thanks for your help.
Btw, Facebook video playback issue affects other device too, not only the Nexus 4. It happened on my aunt's phone.
Plus it's not a Lollipop issue, my aunt's phone is still on 4.2.2, and I had my Nexus 4 at 4.4.4.

Go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ebview-45-0-2454-37-arm-android-apk-download/ and you can download the latest Android System Webview module and not have to wait for it to become available to you in the Play Store.

A solution for another possible N4 video playback issue
I came across this thread searching for a solution for for my video playback issue, with my N4 unable to play videos occasionally.
I eventually narrowed down the problem to firefox, and setting
Code:
media.android-media.codec.enabled=false
in about:config finally solved the issue I had for years.

I tried this. It didn't fix the playback issue for me, but before it shows a still thumbnail and the player but now there's nothing. Just a grey box.

Snapchat story problems

Hi, haven't seen anyone posted regarding Snapchat issues, it's been persistent for me regardless of versions of Snapchat or developers miui/global miui.
Basically, people can't see my snap stories that I record with snap. They'll click on it and it'll close immediately without a chance of looking at it. Doesn't happen if I post a picture from camera roll taken from the miui camera/screenshots,etc.
Anybody running into the same issue? I've messed with the notch hide/full screen settings too with no luck.
We're you ever able to solve the problem?
I also had this issue last week, and it seems to be a recurrent problem atm. I saw two people reporting the same problem : Link 1 | Link 2 (in french sorry)
I guess we'll have to wait for a snapchat or MIUI update to fix this problem :/ The best we can do for now is report it in the MIUI forum
Edit : I reported it here. If you don't mind you could upvote it and / or reply to confirm so the issue maybe gets more visibility :fingers-crossed:
Can someone who's running the global stable ROM please confirm this issue and post it on Mi Community ? Because, as you can see in my post on the forum, the user from the feedback team replying doesn't believe me as long as I don't switch to global stable myself..
No fix that I was able so far BY MYSELFFFFF. Took everyone worldwide long enough to realize there was an issue.
At the moment I believe it's only iphone that can't see snap videos, androids seem to be fine. 50/50 on if they can see videos from camera roll recorded with something else ( can't determine when they can/can't see it) Last I heard they were not able to see videos with the stock camera app, perhaps they can see video recorded with gcam/instagram(can't confirm). The iphone person reinstalling their snapchat app may or may not allow them to see your snap video (once again, can't confirm)
They said they saw my snap after reinstalling because I asked them to, but I can't recall if it was a snap video vs picture vs camera roll video.
I have tried using many old versions of snap, , latest version, beta versions of snap.
I have tried using the last available developer rom and the last global stable rom.
I've toggled with fullscreen/notch support because I noticed the camera view kind of stutters for a split sec when you start recording and changes to fullscreen or something like that.
Hi , i used to have the same problem , but i fix it by flashing Revolution OS 9.9.21 , here is your guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/how-to/xiaomi-mi-9-firmware-twrp-recovery-root-t3922158
I think problem got fixed upgrading to MIUI 11 9.10.10 by xiaomi.eu. Unlocked bootloader/rooted with magisk.
