Back to stock - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy
I see that a lot of people (so did I) had problems of going back to stock, so i wil write a little guide for doing this.
I am not responsibility i anything goes wrong.
Before starting you need the following:
Odin3-v3.07 => you can find it here (CF-Auto-Root)
firmware => http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Before we begin, we need two files. The firmware that you have downloaded and also a file rom this firmware called hidden.img.tar.
Open your firmware with winrar and extract the file "hidden.img". When you have this file rename it to "hidden.img.tar"
Now we can really begin
step 1: (optional)
go to recovery (Vol+ & home & Pwr) and wipe your phone.
step 2:
Open Odin as administrator and put your phone in download mode ( Vol - & home & Pwr)
Click on the "AP" button and choose your firmware.
When the firmware is loaded click "start". The firmware will now being flashed on your phone. Most likely you wil get an error after a while when it was flashing the "hidden.img" file (no stress
step 3:
Unplug your phone and reboot it again to download mode (nothing else will work at this point) and connect it again to your PC. In Odin click again on the "AP" button and choose the file that we have created before the "hidden.img.tar" file. When loaded click on "start".
You don't get an error this time and your phone will restart and your phone is being flashed. when your are stuck at a bootloop, go to step 4
step 4:
Put your phone in recovery mode (will look a bit different if you had custom recovery before) and wipe your phone back to factory settings
I hope that this can help other people who where stuck trying to go back to stock

That's a good guide, thank you, worked for me flawlessly.
It might however be good to add: be patient on first boot! It takes ages

Hmm I am not sure. But for me the step 3 was not needed. I did not get error for hidden.img
Is it OK ? I was following your guide did everything as you wrote here till step 3 but during flashing the error was not there
Hope it will be working. Right now it is doing the first boot so waiting and waiting. Hope it will work as I need to return this phone to my older brother who borrow it to me. And I want to give him the phone as it was when he gave it to me.

Hello, i have bought Samsung Galaxy S5 MINI model SM-G800F.
There is Cyanogenmod 12.1-20150707-unofficial-kminilte
android version 5.1.1
baseband (i think) G800FXXU1AOF5
Problem is with MMS - I cant send or receive it thats why
id like to go back to stock rom, but i need few details.
i know how to do it in theory, but first of all, i dont know nothing about what last user have done witch phone, what schould i check to not brick my phone?
in your description is written to download Firmware, tell me pls, which version i have to download, my orginal is (i think) :
PDA/AP Version G800FXXU1AOF5
CSC Version G800FDBT1AOF1
MODEM/CP Version G800FXXU1AOF5
Region DBT — Germany
Build Date 2015-06-29
Changelist 5268468
OS KitKat
OS Version 4.4.2
but this is old kitkat and now i have got version 5.1.1 can i use any rom or that one orginal or only newer or the same version is already installed?
second question i bought this phone from Germany and i live in Poland, can i flash my phone with stock polish version of for example PLAY carrier or i have to do it only witch orginal German stock ROM?
thanks for replay T_M
now i know my model is SM-G800FZKADBT so i can only download rom for this model - yes?

Sorry for pulling this old thread from its grave.
I have wiped my Samsung S5 min (SM-G800F, DBT) completely, i.e. all(!) partitions and also did a "format data", since no data worth to keep were on it. Then I started Odin as admin, placed the official latest Samsung FW (G800FXXU1CRG3_G800FDBT1CRE1_G800FXXU1CRG3_HOME.tar.md5) in the "AP" field, had only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" under "Options" ticked, and nothing under "Pit". The flashing worked without errors and the S5 mini rebooted. The "SAMSUNG" logo was blinking for about 10 minutes, but I was already warned that this first boot may really take a while. Finally, the device successfully booted into regular/stock system.
Now my questions:
So far, have I done everything right to go back to stock? I have not tampered with a "hidden.img" or "hidden.img.tar" file, hence this question.
Next, I would like to flash the latest official TWRP. Is it right to put "twrp-3.3.1-0-kminilte.img.tar" in the "AP" field of Odin (as before for the stock FW) and flash it? I would this time not select "Auto Reboot", but instead after successful flashing, plug the USB cable, remove the battery, place it back, and start the S5 mini (SM-G500F) to recovery by holding power + home + volume up. Correct?
Finally, I would lake to have Magisk. Is it right to place the official "Magisk-v20.2.zip" on the external SD card (oh, I wiped that before, too) and to flash it from recovery (TWRP) and then reboot the device to system?
Do I have to enable the developer options and (also?) ADB debugging for any of the aforementioned steps?
Thanks a lot for your helpful hints.
PS:
Stock worked nicely. Then I enabled developer options, ADB debugging, and flashed 1. TWRP (step 2 above) and 2. Magisk (step 3 above). Booting to system took much longer while a message about Android being started and App No. x of y being optimized. Since stock ROM contains tons of crappy apps, this took quite a while. I wonder why now (after flashing TWRP and Magisk) the system sees the need to optimise apps. Ah, is it because I also wiped cache and dalvik cache from TWRP after flashing Magisk? Maybe this was not needed, I dunno...

[Q] Softbricked Galaxy Tab P1000 when installing CWM on original rom. Any pointers?

*** Short version: ***
I seemed to have softbricked my (Europe version) P1000 while attempting to install CWM on an original firmware.
Installed CWM from rommanager, which gave me a list with versions of it to choose from.
There was only AT&T and VZN versions available (no Euro version), but i read on a blog that VZN was compatible with the Euro version.
Installed that one and - booom!
... Now device only boots up in normal android recovery (or download mode, if chosen).
If I chose "reboot" from the menu here, it is stuck at the Android-with-exclamation-sign.
It is possible to enter download mode, and there is a link from Odin on WinXp to the device.
What to do? Can this be repaired?
Any help or pointer is greatly appriciated.
- Thanks in advance.
--------
*** Longer but explaining version: ***
I wanted to flash my (Euro) galaxy tab with overcome rom, but all the guides i found required CWM to be installed
Therefore i installed rom manager and tried to install CWM from there.
I was prompted to confirm my device, but no European version of CWM could be chosen.
Therefore i chose VZN version, which supposedly was compatible (as i read on some blog).
After installing, but still in rom manager i tried to "reboot into CWM".
It the CWM was somewhat odd, when i went up and down in the menu, the screen went blank at every second item.
... so i chosed "Reboot" hoping it was temporary.
Now device boots into NORMAL android recovery every time, unless i press power+down, then it enteres download mode.
I have downloaded the GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip from the overcome site, thinking that reflashing the device with this might clear the problem
... But i thought i would ask someone smarter this time, as i am not sure how these images work.
In essence, i am not sure if it is a bootloader outside the image that is broken, or if it is the image.
In essence: I am unsure on how to proceed. I can not find any posts with other people trying to recover softbricking from installing CWM.
Any help or pointers Is greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

Well you have everything you need just flash the stock GB using Odin. And then follow overcome's guide to root it.
You should be all set after that.
Best of luck.
Works!
Thanks a lot. It works perfectly.
If anyone is doing the same, do as follows:
- Download the file 001001-GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip from somewhere on the net (google it). It contains an image, the flashing program Odin as well as modem files and other stuff.
- Run Odin
- Connect cable to tablet
- Press power+down on tablet to turn it on in download mode
- Make sure your modem drivers work (a com-port shows up yellow)
- Click on the “PIT” button, and look for the following file “gt-p1000_mr.pit”
- Click the “PDA” button, and select the “GB_Stock_Safe_v5.tar” file.
- There is difference in modems in different parts of the world. Assuming you are European, press "Phone" and find the "JPZ Modem" file.
Make sure that the settings "Re-partition", "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is set.
Press "Start"

Ps. Thanks a lot for the answer. Is there anyway to close the thread, or should it be left open?

Dude that file and all info you need (which you should have read in first place) are all on this site and was posted directly to here by the devs.
You like many other n00bs just read some ****ty blog on some other newbies site and just flash any old crap to your device and expect it to work.
In future do some research and have patience before trying to mess with a device otherwise you may actually really "brick" your device next time.

Ok, overcome is installed. How can i use cm11 on my tablet. Do i have to install another recovery, Kernel or something. I tried to install cm11 with the overcome recovery. The installation aborted, but the old recovery cwm was installed and the brick, too. Now i started again the installation of overcome.
I need your help.
Thank you.
It isn't bricked.
I bet you cwm got upgraded to cwm6 but you thought you are looking at cwm 5 from overcome.
First flash upgrades your cwm and reboot to recovery.
Flash cm11 3 times.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Free mobile app
Where can i get the upgade for the overcome cwm? Flashing with odin? Thx

[Q]Unable to flash Cyanogenmod from rooted I9000XXJW4

Hi,
I'm having a major issue with not being able to flash roms using clockworkmod for some strange reason.
I decided to move from MIUI rom because every time I gave it a chance when new versions came out, it constantly let me down with countless bugs and such. So, I've decided to go back to modified stock ROMs as they seem more reliable.
When I attempted to flash using clockworkmod (that comes with MIUI) it failed to apply the new (non-MIUI) ROM and forced it to go into a bootloop which knackered up going into recovery, so my only other option was to go into download mode and flash a stock ROM (I chose the latest, I9000XXJW4), root it, flash cyanogenmod and try again.
But unfortunately this did not work and now I'm stuck on the stock ROM.
I've taken a video of the exact moment it all goes wrong. Also, below is each step taken of the process.
youtube.com/watch?v=EmZAZ3DeL2U
1) Download Samsung Value Pack (I9000XXJW4) and CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS
2) Galaxy S rebooted to download mode
3) Used Odin3 1.85 to apply JW4_JW4_JW4.TAR file to the PDA section. Re-Partition is not checked.
4) Allowed the device to reboot to the home screen.
5) Powered off the device and booted back to download mode
6) Used Odin3 1.85 to apply CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.TAR to the PDA section. Re-Partition is not checked.
7) Allowed the device to reboot to the home screen (The video begins now).
8) Launched the CWM application (with root permissions) and rebooted to Recovery.
9) Wipe data/factory reset selected and confirmed
10) Wipe Dalvik Cache selected and confirmed
11) Format /system selected and confirmed
12) Install zip from SD Card, Choose Zip from sdcard and update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip selected and confirmed.
13) Here is an extract from the log that follows before rebooting:
- Finding update package...
- Opening update package...
- Installing update...
- Checking state of BML/MTD...
14) Self-Rebooted
15) Boot-loop
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Andy
when it bootloops it does it cause it just flashed the kernel and its trying to run the stock rom on the cynogen kernel. so pull the battery, put it back in. reboot into recovery and flash the rom again. it should work the second time cause its using the cynogen mods version of cwm recovery. let it boot it will take a while. but that should work.
dont forget to hit thanks!

Cannot believe the solution was staring at me the entire time!!

[Q] Do I need an update?

Hello!
I'm new to Android, still learning how to use it. I'ved got an GT-I9000 with 2.3.6, it works fine excepting the battery. For example, the another night I tried to drain it by turning it on even due it was 0%. Left it to charge the hole night. And about 4 hours ago unpluged it, played 40 min. and the battey was at 40%. I don't think that's normal.
I thought I'd give a try at the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 I saw it is the latest. But the I saw the many roms Cyanogen, Slimbean, Mackay, etc. Which one do I need?
And a good tutorial is welcomed 'cuz I don't know ####.
Thanks!
Maybe it is problem with your battery, bad charging, weared etc. In my opinion 4.2.2 versions gives better battery live. No one will say which custom ROM is best - you have to try it itself. As a new user you can use latest CyanogenMod 10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2)
If you want try custom ROMs on your phone you have to install custom recovery (CWM).
1) Check your baseband version of the phone (for instance XWJV) and find appropriate kernel:
Code:
www.semaphore.gr/downloads/i9000
. Check 'USB Debugging' in Applications -> Development.
2) Install it via Odin as PDA file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 (Download Mode = Volume Down+Home+Power)
2*) If there isn't your version you can try installing 3-file JVZ ROM with Re-Partition and PIT file - then use Semaphore JVZ kernel (but be careful with it, i made it with this version and someone other may give you safer way). Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 or
Code:
hotfile. com/dl/136940891/b232b26/I9000XWJVZ_I9000OXAJVT_OXA.rar.html
3) After you got your custom recovery and root you should make EFS backup (IMEI) and copy it into PC - you can use SGS Toolbox for Google Play.
4) Download and copy ROM files and GAPPS into your internal SD - (cm-10.1.3-RC1-galaxysmtd.zip) download from http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd. You can install CM9 first, because going directly to 10.x may lead to loosing your IMEI (i didn't lost it ). You can find Gapps for JB4.2 here: http://goo.im/gapps
5) Turn off phone, go to recovery (Volume Up+Home+Power). Up/Down = Volume button, Accept = Home. Use full wipe (Wipe Data/Factory reset, Wipe /cache, Advanced -> Wipe /dalvik cache). Now 'install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard' and seek for CM .zip file. After installation do same with GAPPS.
6) Reboot system now - all done. First boot takes a while.
Thanks for nothinh. I don't have a clue. Why doesn't exist a easy tutorial for installing from a stock 2.3.6 to 4.2.2?

Actually guide posted by AreXe isn't that hard. Just ask what part you cant understand instead of being rude
It's preety straightforward - you download kernel with built-in cwm that suits your current software (rom), you flash it via Odin, download ROM that you like the most, put it on SD and install from CWM recovery mode - doing all of those things while following instructions posted in their respective topics made by creators of those roms/kernels/guides - most of them are in "Galaxy S I9000 Android Development" section, you just have to look and do some reading.
I don;t get it because he says "after geting that, after installing that" and I don;t know If I already have it or no.
Now I'm in trouble and I need HELP!!
While tring to root the phone I opened zadiag.exe, hit install and it never got out of Download Mode. I'ved pulled out the battery and tried to start the phone... nothing hapened. After that I tried to flash with PITT 512 on Odin, at first it sayed Failed so I unninstalled the Composite USB Samsung device mobile and reinstalled the Samsung Drivers. Tried again to reflash with Odin and sayed Succesful! But it still doens't start. I can't enter in recovery mode, only download mode.
What do to?

How you tried to root the phone? And what zadiag.exe? If you not read all procedured carefully you can mess up your phone. I provided you link with tutorial, if thats too hard try using this clear method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44480332&postcount=31

I'd just opened zadiag.exe and hit install Samsung COmposite.... in Download Mode, after that it stayed there.
Now I'ved flashed Semaphore_kernel_JVU_2.5.0beta.tar and it's stuck in Recovery mode, tried Wipe data and after that cache, but I still have errors
Can;t mount /cache/recovery/last_log
Can't open same thing
Unknown volume for path recovery.command
And at the Wiping cache the same thing.
L.E. I'ved fixed it with this tutorial: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/ - that's what I call a well explained tutorial.
Thanks for the help. I'm going to try again to root it with the tutorial you gave me.
L.E.2. So it wasn;t my fault. After waiting 2.30 hours to download the rom I'ved began to flash it. Good. All things going nice. Going to step two: flashing CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS, hit start wait. At restart it enteret in Recover mode with the same errors "can't find ..."
So I'ved flashd it again to repair it. I guess my phone ain't made for rooting

Can't be true. Maybe someone other know good kernel file with root for JVU version. I used the JVZ with Semaphore kernel on 3 phones (mine and two from friends) and everything was fine - this is the best base for modding this phone in my opinion.
Then I'll dare to say that I ain't lucky in rooting.
Something's wrong. Why can't I flash custom roms?

No matter what i flash in odin, the result is the same: bootloop

i wonder if there is a way out of a bootloop that works no matter what, as long as you can enter download mode.
after reading for 3 days and flashing everything i could (flashing stock ROM, WIPE_I8190.tar.md5, PARAM_I8190.tar.md5, "LeFreu" I8190 серв. укр) it all gave me the same result: bootloop.
i made a back up before flashing a custom ROM (Dmod V6 and Virginity V3 as they seemed like the best ones) so if any of u help me access CWM recovery or TWRP i could do a restore and make my phone work again.
NOTE: the only way i managed to use CWM recovery the first time was rooting with odin "I8190XXALL2_I8190OXXALL1_HOME_rooted_by_avicohh" and then downloading rom manager from the playstore
the attached screenshot shows my device info from factory, can anyone help me restore my phone?

i need serious help.
i have a galaxy s3 mini gt-i8190 and im stuck on a bootloop
i bought it in new sealed condition and it came with this firmware (see attached screenshot)
and when i tried to update it a window popped saying that my device was modified and that software update were not available.
i decided to root my phone so i could install a new rom.
i downloaded all the software i needed including drivers dor the usb samdung devices and enabled usb debuging in developer options
then i used odin to flash I8190XXALL2_I8190OXXALL1_HOME_rooted_by_avicohh
then i tried flashing custom recovery via odin also
everything went normal but custom recovery was not sticking, meaning no matter what type of custom recovery i flashed (twrp, cwm) i ended up having 3e stock recovery.. (NOTE: the 3e stock recovery before AND after flashing rooted ROM, had always a broken android on the floor with an exclamationg sign in its chest) so i tried another method:
i downloaded root checker from the playstore and rom manager. after checking i was rooted (wich i was) i flashed cwm recovery and succesfully was able tu boot into cwm recovery. i did a back up in both, internal storage and external sd, and procedded to flash Dmod V6. i followed the aroma installer and when it finished i selected reboot system now and got a bootloop.
i entered in cwm recovery and did a restore. did a full wipe (data, cache and dalvik) and tried flashing another rom: virginity ROM. followed the aroma installer and selected reboot system now, the result was bootloop.
when i was trying to do another restore the recovery told me that the system would try to flash stock recovery again and i choosed to keep the cwm recovery.
at this point my phone was able to turn on and boot normally. tried again to flash via cwm the virginity rom and got a bootloop again. so i went to do another restore and this time i choosed diferently (flash stock recovery) and when the restore ended i selected rebbot system now and got a bootloop AGAIN.
now i cannot enter CWM recovery (i guess that is obvious because i choosed to flash stock one)
i have readed 3 days now and tried everything that the forums say: flashing stock firmware, flashing WIPE_I8190.tar.md5, flashing PARAM_I8190.tar.md5 and still ended with a bootloop. tried flashing I8190 серв. укр (LeFleur) and nothing, absolutely nothing works.
i even downloaded Unified_Android_Toolkit_v1.2.8 and tried to flash stock firmware but nothing seems to work. all my phone does is bootloop, and boot into download mode.
can a serious developer help me solve this? im about to give up.... and that seriously affects me because im not a quitter.
any help would be greatly apreciated...

Samsung Galaxy S5 G900W8 Canadian Variant Root Lollipop

Hi Forum,
What i did to root the G900W8 Canadian Galaxy S5 variant is the following:
1. Downloaded the Super user which can be found. http://www.mediafire.com/download/7hzka026ofddjz7
2. Download and flash the Philz recovery . http://www.mediafire.com/download/vn77n8c17qq69pt
Now you can flash the recovery via Odin and use the super user. Install super user from revovery menu install from zip.
If you would like to flash stock recovery... http://www.mediafire.com/download/z8so967mr7jbem8

Yes it does..... I dont think there is a way around it.... as i work with a lot of phones on a daily basis... i need to be quick with things... cant flash roms specially when you are doing remote imei repairs and such....
no need do remote emei repaire it cost $ , just root and write certificate
The only issue is that the certificates get blacklisted... you need private cert files
How is the modem? Is it sticking without issue?
Hey, guys. Just rooted G900W8. lollipop, build LRX21T.G900W8VLU1BOC2.
Used this guide with one remark.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After I did everything, I had what some other people had, there was no Philztouch:
"i had try that way…the menu still shown
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from externel storage
wipe data / factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
then i try push ….. apply update from externel storage…the next error happened
Finding update package …
Opening update package …
Verifiyng update package …
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed"

So, the answer is in the comments too -
"A reply to this problem has been posted MANY times. Take the back off your phone and flash Philztouch with Odin. Get ready to pull the battery IMMEDIATELY you see the green PASS! on Odin – I did it by having my fingernail hooked into the battery slot while the phone was downloading the file, and pulling the battery the second I saw the PASS! (yes, the phone was still connected to the PC with the cable). I counted to 20, replaced the battery, and booted straight into recovery – (Vol Up, Power and Home pressed all together). Philztouch recovery came up. "

Now, here's scary part. I un-ticked Auto-reset and factory reset boxes in Odin, flashed Philztouch, and Odin stuck on RESET state, phone was still in downloading state! Well, after couple minutes I had no choice but to pull battery.
Put battery back in, tried to boot into recovery...and bingo! It was Philztouch! Now I flashed SuperSU, rebooted, at some reason I had no warnings, triangles whatsoever! Another funny thing - SuperSU didn't promt me to disable Knox automatically at some reason. I downloaded Titanium Backup, and freezed Knox along with millions of other bloatware programs.
Phone originally was Canada, Fido, I unlocked it after rooting, purchased code for $15.
Hope this helps.
I am on lollipop 5.1.1 Will this still work
Hi,
I have Roger's unlocked Galaxy S5 G900W8. I have installed custom rom on it and now I want to revert back to stock rom.
Will flashing Roger's stock rom lock my phone again?
P S: I don't live in Canada so if Roger's rom changes my modem settings then I will be unable to use my Sim.

In odin just untick update modem and bootloader and there wont be any problem. Beside theres rom like no limits or stock rooted rom you can flash for g900f it will work.
