[AOSP 5.1.1][Snapdragon] Prerooted, cleaned & fingerprint compatible - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 [Snapdragon] ROMs, Kernels, Re

AOSP 5.1.1 for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (kenzo)
Based on leaked Xiaomi 5.1.1 AOSP ROM (Build 300)
Cleaned, prerooted and fingerprint compatible
Prologue
I've decided to take the time and hack together a quick TWRP-compatible ZIP of the leaked AOSP ROM with a few goodies on top so that we have at least one stable non-MIUI ROM to keep us going until CM13 is ready for daily driving.
Before people ask:
This ROM doesn't have OTA support, and it won't be updated on a regularly basis.
Yes, its capable of daily-driving with no big issues whatsoever.
Yes, you need a unlocked bootloader to flash this (the unofficial bootloader unlock will work however).
It's prerooted, pre-gapped and pre-xposed, so you will have essentially everything you will ever need already there.
Changes (when compared to the originally leaked AOSP ROM)
Overlapping No-SIM Symbol has been removed
Redundant SPN Debug Overlays have been removed
Debug Buttons have been removed from the Recent Apps View
APK Signature Check has been disabled in the Framework
Debug applications have been removed
Fingerprint reader support has been added
SuperSU (Free) has been pre-installed
Gapps are bundled
Xposed is bundled
Default language / region has been changed to en-US
Merged SIM Signal Bars
Translated Fingerprint implementation into several languages
logd is disabled (as to avoid sdcard logspam)

Great firmware. Flashed using TWRP with OpenGapps micro and everything works ok without black screens. Even Gapps setup wizzard on first launch work.

Great news...Any way to get fingerprint sensor working on this??

Yes, apps opens longer than in miui. Some lag in scrolling presist. Snapdragon Camera not optimised and works even worse than stock.
If you dont want AOSP by all means its better to stick with Global ROM for now. Only pros of this firmware is AOSP interface and good signal strength.

I tried it now, but no noticeable change happen. Also AOSP already have high battery drain, so this is not good solution.
Chrome just stop responding to touch on fast scrolling for a second in this thread.

Thanks for this great work. You have a link to some generic kernel source in the OP (for the Snapdragon chipset) but then you are talking about using the global stable kernel?
Have you looked at using the Qualcomm 'test' AOSP kernel?
As that version has a working kernel and the all the propeitary libs you could need I would imagine (other than a way of configuring the fingerprint reader - it does have a fingerprint service running - but no settings for adding a fingerprint - I see Fingerprint support is only being added to CM13 so we might have to wait ).
I am currently using that ROM (as I don't like MIUI) and can post a list of the /system folder if you are interested.

Xiaomi.eu opinions

Im having serious problems with Custon ROM Mi5,s camera, so i considering come back to MIUI, i readed that xiaomi.eu are better than Official MIUI developper version, so i would apreciate if someone could talk about this ROM, battery life, stability and etc.. And can it be flashed by TWRP like a custon ROM?
xiaomi.eu support Camera 2 Api in the last weekly rom:

If i flash by twrp, my bootloader will be blocked? That is any way to prevent that?

I can't isntall it.
Flashed it via TWRP. No error. ( Only command log error.)
But when I try to reboot system, TWRP says " There's no OS installed. "
What's wrong ?
I'll share Log next time.
Bug .. just confirm reboot and wait
And be sure that you have EXT4 and not F2FS !
What is the advantage of camera 2 Api when everyone is talking about it?

I am currently using latest weekly from xiaomi.eu and it is running perfectly, also added Open Camera to test manual controls... very pleased with the results...

Yes, xiaomi.eu is better than stock miui because it has additional tweak. Im using latest weekly update and it is much more better than stock miui. And camera 2 api is a great implementation
Is there any kinda official thread for MIUI EU ROM here in XDA ?

Depends on MIUI version, the-now-abandoned DragonXia for MIUI 8 worked, albeit not so stable. No idea about current one since all targets MIUI 9 and I'm still in MIUI 8 because I prefer waiting for stable release.
As far as i know there are only 2 kernels for miui. I personally idę naga v3 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3673374
There is also psychedelic kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3685099 i've tested IT and returned to naga. For me phone feels smoother on it. U should try both

audio quality MIUI vs custom ROM

Hello,
I wonder: why does MIUI (or MIUI based) ROM have a much superior sound quality than any custom ROM I've tried?
Including: LineageOS, AOSP Extended, AOSP-JDCTeam, Slimdragons, Atomic OS
I mean, I've pretty much enjoyed all of them more than MIUI, but that audio issue just had me back to xiaomi.eu
Is this a known issue that will be fixed in the future?
Probably MIUI China has proper drivers and optimization. I tried MIUI Global and it has quite bad audio too...
Inviato dal mio Mi5 utilizzando Tapatalk
Unfortunately it's probably that MIUI use proprietary drivers.
But even with worse audio I prefer custom ROMs. MIUI is horrible for me, specially how it handle notifications.
Also, did you try installing Viper4android or Dolby Atmos? I want to try these and see if there is an improvement but I'm just lazy.

I prefer custom ROMs as well, and yes, I've tried to install those two mods with Magisk, but had no success.
Might have to do with some selinux permissions that are required, I will definitely try that sometime.
Just learning to enjoy MIUI for now.

Yeah, I tried MIUI Global a few weeks ago (latest dev version) before installing Masik ROM which is based on MIUI China. Big improvement as regards audio quality and volume. I heard that also Xiaomi.eu rom has good quality too and it looks like you are confirming that...

[Magisk Module] [MOD] Low-RAM Property Patcher for Android

Code:
DWYOR
This module is based on @AdrianDC idea to simply make a patch for Low_RAM property. I made it as a Magisk Module in order to not tampering with system partition.
@AdrianDC thread: Here
This module will change the UI behaviour of Android to Android Go edition.
Features affected by the low-ram property:
Flat recent / multitasking UI, multi-users disabled, high-end graphics disabled, less recent apps cache, multi-windows disabled, minor notification icons changes, less logger buffer sizes (devs), no apps notifications access / zen access / VR listeners / picture in picture (PIP) accesses.
Tested on Redmi 3S (Land) with Nitrogen OS (Android 8.1.0)

This is a magisk module. Go to that section and press the plus symbol.
Thanks for this! I installed it and I love the different recent apps screen. Technically I probably don't need the low ram config with 2 GB of ram, but I like it so far. Only potential downside for me is loosing the pip feature.
Any chance to support sdk28? Installer say that only works on Oreo ?

Didn't work for me either. It could be the ROM/developer did not add proper support.
While this module works on Android Pie, this broke the recent apps switcher on LOS 16 for microG for me.
Going to try and disable the module to see if that will fix things.
Update - The module didn't show up in Magisk, so had to use the original disable script by AdrianDC in TWRP and that fixed things.
This module is working perfectly with CRDroid Android 11.
My Device is Redmi 4a (Rolex)
Thankyou so much

AOSP or LinageOS etc.?

Hi!
So I'm wondering if there is an ongoing developement of AOSP or LinageOS or other atlernatives for the Mi8, and if we will see any official beta release anytime soon?
I'm sick and tired of miui and all the system apps that's impossible to remove, and they keep fighting back to be default app. Grr! I would very much like a cleaner build, and would gladly be a beta tester. Although my experience from Mi5 is that miui felt more responsive than the linageos nightlies, I would rather have that and be able to choose my own apps.
Would I be even better off with this new Treble stuff?
Load MIUI 10 onto it, or global MIUI 9. Have no issues with default apps on MIUI 10. Had that with the original MIUI 9 China-rom though.

Are you able to remove all the Mi apps? Video, wallet, app store etc?
The fact is that I'm most fond of as close to stock android I can get, which is why I want AOSP. If it was possible to build AOSP on my own and still get camera, GPS and stuff to work as it should, then I'd do that.
I think it's better to have a rom built without bloat, rather than try to hide it afterwards.

You need TWRP.
Or wait till sources are released and there will probably be development available for AOSP/Lineage.
I have installed a treble rom (I think the RR one). The rom is working well but I went back to MIUI as Oreo doesn't support the notch yet.
