[GUIDE] Make your own Themes for your Samsung device - Android Themes

Hi all!
I make this guide for those who want to make their own themes for Samsung Devices. This uses Samsung My Theme, a software developed by Samsung.
The devices supported by this method are devices compatible with TouchWiz Theme Engine (like my A5 2015 for example)
Things you'll need:
Samsung My Theme Software, it has the following system requirements:
• A PC running Windows 7 or later.
• A Samsung device using Samsung Theme Engine.
• Android SDK for Android 4.4 or higher should be installed on the PC.
• Java JDK version 1.6-7.0 (not 8.0).
1. Downloading the required software.
You can download my version of Samsung My Theme here:
https://mega.nz/#!yl8VSZyK!-wUHQ5eQ8xcn-2VgZ9LbkW_g-ilLPuyjD-L_h0DY0Oo
Unzip the .zip file, and put it on a location you can access easily. Simply unzip the tool and run
“SamsungMyTheme.exe”.
1.2 Downloading Java JDK & Android SDK.
*Android SDK does not currently support JDK 8.0. Use JDK versions 6.0 or 7.0 only.
- Download the Android SDK (version 4.4 only) just use the download.bat script in working folder (it will download all SDK automatically) or you can download it manually here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
- Copy all files and folders in the Android SDK…\android\android-sdk folder to the \sdk
folder on your PC.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Open Samsung_My_Theme folder and go to /sdk folder. Copy the files to this /sdk folder according to this below:
2. Choosing the correct resolution for your device and saving theme path.
Open the working folder and run SamsungMyTheme.exe
Wait few seconds, the components will be loaded. Once the app is loaded, select create a changeable theme.
2.1 Select the correct resolution for your device.
The software will ask you to choose your device resolution, if you don't know it, just search for specs of your Samsung device and you will find it.
Taking the example of A5, it uses 720x1280p so I choose it. Once all of that is done choose a name and a saving path for your Theme.
2.1 Adding Lockscreen and Home screen wallpaper.
After creating the theme file, you have to add your own resources to it.
You can use your resources to do that, download any picture you want and click on add image on the left side (see the picture below)
A popup will be opened, select your picture and click on open. You should now see your picture on the components. Use the adjustements tools on the right side to crop, rotate, adjust size or cut your pic to make it fit your device screen. Do the same procedure for the home screen wallpaper.
2.2 Adding your own icons.
Click on icon button.
Click on "+" to select the image you want to use as a icon for the app you want to change the icon.
Note: if you let a case empty, after Installing the theme to your device, it will use the stock icon.
Taking example here of music app icon.
Do as previous steps, use your own images. Crop the icon to make it fit the white square on the center. Adjust brightness if necessary. And do the same of the other icons you want to change.
3. Testing your Theme on your device.
Using SamsungThemePreview on your device
Go to your SamsungMyTheme folder, you should see an apk file named " SamsungThemePreview.apk", select it, plug your device to your PC and move the .apk file to your device. Use a file browser on your device, select the apk of SamsungThemePreview and install it as a normal apk.
- Now go to Settings > About device, touch 10 times build number, go back to settings, and now you should see a new option named "Developer options" click on the tile and enable USB debugging mode. Allow any popups on the device.
On your PC, click the Preview on phone button on the menu bar. When Theme Preview apk is installed, a preview of your theme will be displayed
automatically.
If you like your Theme, select file, click on save and then "Package the APK file"
It will open a new popup, set name for your Theme, package name, etc... And click on save.
It will take some time to build the apk file depending on the resources you used.
Once it's finished, you can directly apply the theme to the device or take it from working folder and /out.
Congratulations ! You made your own theme from your own resources.

And can you tell me how to change apps background like calculator and phone calender etc it will helps alot

So after searching for ages I came across this thread downloaded and installed the application, played arpound with the app only to find to my disappointment - it only changes lock/home screen background and the icons. It dosent look this app did what I was hoping it would, namely allow me to edit all the backgrounds of the system apps to darker(kitkat) like.
In a nutshell, is there a way/app that will allow me to customise all the background, fonts and other UI elements on a TW based rom. My goal/aim is to remove/alter 'all' the white backgrounds in MM to darker, graduated-black or black (as per KK)

Yes this!

Well while we all wait for Samsung to stop being so obtuse, or better for someone to upload the SS tool so we can bypass SS and thier bloody theme store - I have a flashed Pheonix Rom for my S5 (G900F) which has ported S7 (G935F) features (i.e. theme store) and applied the 'Touchwiz6DMM' theme.
It has replaced 'almost' all the white backgrounds. only 3 occurances remain (notifications, when I manually install an APK, and some apps that interested with the OS in someway that they still use a white background.

Not understanding
Sir, can you please explain this?
- Copy all files and folders in the Android SDK…\android\android-sdk folder to the \sdk
folder on your PC.

a) I installed Android SDK and there is no such path like "Android SDK…\android\android-sdk"
b) which " \sdk folder on your PC"? You mean the one that is in the Samsung_My_Theme_1.0.5b_en program?
Open Samsung_My_Theme folder and go to /sdk folder. Copy the files to this /sdk folder according to this below:

You mean to copy from Android SDK installed in PC to Samsung Theme sdk folder? If yes The structure is different!
Android SDK Build Tools:
AppData\Local\Android\sdk\build-tools\24.0.3\....
Samsung Theme
Samsung_My_Theme_1.0.5b_en\sdk\build-tools\android-5.0.1\...
Can you detail?
Thanks

Is this still applicable?
Really want to theme my GS8+ and I have a Masters in UX Design, but I can't get accepted into Samsung's Theme program.... lol.

No, this is only applicable to devices that were released before Galaxy S6 (because they have the old theme engine).
But there should be the same software for new devices, check on XDA

ThemesFactory Guide & Themes *Updated 07/30/12*

I'm sorry I am pretty busy and not able to participate in this thread much any more. Unfortunately I've switch over to Android Ice Cream Sandwich I will no longer be using Go Launcher Ex unless they decide to update their launcher to be up to par with Apex Launcher and other ICS Launchers. I want the in-app drawer widgets and other features ICS has to offer so hopefully they update GO Launcher to offer these features so I can continue to use it. Anyways I'll try to add as many themes to this post as I can if you PM them to me but because I haven't really done anything with themes for over 6 months I don't really remember a lot of the details. This thread is here for reference hopefully it helps you guys out since I will be unable to do so.
This guy hasn't been updated for a while unfortunately so it may or may not be relevant any more if you want the latest version of ThemesFactory you will have to search the GO Launcher New Blog for it. Anyways Thanks for all your support and everything you guys do you're awesome!

Guide to using ThemesFactory:
The download and other information about ThemesFactory can be found here HERE
I haven't been using ThemesFactory for that long I'm not very artistic I just use materials I can find online and also simple Paint and Photoshop methods. ThemesFactory allows you to create a Theme based off an already existing template by replacing the different parts within it. Setting up ThemesFactory is a little tricky and also as I've seen with certain things such as the tabs in my theme it seems to have bugs. It's really all trial and error I guess unless you have a better knowledge of how the themes are actually read by GO Launcher Ex.
First thing is first download and install the Java JDK from HERE. After you install it browse to "C:\Program Files\Java\" inside it there should be a folder labeled jdk1.6.0_26 or whatever the latest Java 6 JDK version is. Now you know the path to your Java folder you need to setup your Environmental Variables.
Environmental Values:
First off you must go to the Environmental Variable Settings in Windows. (I don't know how you would use ThemesFactory in linux sorry)
1.From the desktop, right-click My Computer and click Properties.
2.In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.
3.In the Advanced section, click the Environment Variables button.
4.Finally, in the Environment Variables window (as shown below), highlight the Path variable in the Systems Variable section and click the Edit button. Add or modify the path lines with the paths you wish the computer to access. Each different directory is separated with a semicolon as shown below.
Click to collapse
SOURCE
Under "System Variables" click New then type in JAVA_HOME as the Variable name and Variable Value C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_26 (or your folder location) After this is complete add ;%JAVA_HOME%\bin; to your PATH.
Make another Variable Named classpath Variable ;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib\rt.jar;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\dt.jar;%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;
How to Export Video found here
Uploading to the Market:
Well first off I want to say be careful what is in your themes even your free ones I got my Facebook Theme suspended it apparently violated terms even though it was free lol. Anyways just make sure everything in your themes is usable and not copyrighted or trade marked.
Now you must go thru all the files in the theme using either an IDE or Notepad++ and change the package name refrences from the random name to the name of your theme in lower case. Make sure the package name is correct because once you upload your Theme to the market you can't change it unless you upload it as a new app instead of a update. You may also want to change the version code and version number in AndroidManifest.xml that way it doesn't said version code 6 and version number 1.5 when it's only 1.0 or what ever.
After this is done export it and make sure everything is in working order.
Now you must zipalign using the zipalign tool from the Android SDK. Open a cmd window. I usually right click and hold shift and open the cmd window in the folder zipalign is in I just moved it to my ThemeStudio folder because that was easiest. Then you just run the following command.
zipalign -f -v 4 ThemeName.apk ThemeName1.apk
Click to collapse
More info here
If it worked it will create a new file ThemeName1.apk or what ever you tell it to name it and you can upload that to the market.

How to Open Theme Factory as Admin if you have problems:
After this is setup open a command prompt as an administrator and cd to the directory where ThemesFactory is located then type "themesfactory_beta2.jnlp" or the name of the current .jnlp file that came with your ThemesFactory. Now create a new theme with ThemesFactory it should work correctly!
I created this .bat script to open the ThemesFactory with out doing cmd everytime. I won't post a .bat file so just create a .txt file copy/paste this in it and save then rename it to Start ThemesFactory.bat (of course you have to make sure that you have file extensions enabled to do this.) If you need to you can change the directory it CDs to to where ever your jnlp file is. Run as an Administrator for it to work properly. The reason I suggest to run it as Admin is because when I tried to edit certain elements while not running as Admin it wouldn't let me if you have that problem make the .bat file.

How did you get the Go Launcher Theme Factory to export your theme? I designed one recently only to discover the fact that the export theme function was broken with the latest update to the Factory.

I definitely want to get on that boat. I love making themes, i just need to figure out how to get this setup working on linux.
Yeah I'm not sure how you would do that technically the program is written and java so it might work idk. Technically you don't have to use theme studio you just have to have a theme edit and replace the apks and repackage and sign the file. The video below apparently shows how to do it with out the theme studio.

Just did some initial testing, followed instructions to the 'tee' with installing everything but running into issues when Importing a .MTZ (in this case was just testing with MIcons Project v2 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701281).
Below is the error I'm getting:

Everything is running fine, mtz is imported fine, I even get the "APK build complete". But where is it built? I don't see any apk in the entire folder. Only a folder is created under Project folder. I even marked the "Open exported folder" but it doesn't. Please guide.

There's no bin folder there after running "Build APK".
Even though your tool says "APK build complete". -
I tried the MIcons and Crimp packages. They got their folder created under the Imported Package folder.
Spot anything wrong with my setup here?

Problem with path in propertiesfile
You see, project's root build.xml is looking for C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk/tools/ant/build.xml
Two issues with this. My Android sdk is not installed in that path. I had provided correct path in environment setup. But this tool took this path somehow. I manually edited this sdk.dir path in the properties file.
And ant 1.8.0 is minimum requirement [which is not mentioned anywhere] while I had 1.7.0. After installing 1.8.0, it ran fine.

hmm, i think i already add some code to find and fix sdk dir error in local.properties inside template folder in first run ( you will see "Your template has problem " in sys tray notification ) tested on xp sp3 on vmware and it work ok and thank you for ant 1.8.0 part, because i just download and test 1.8.4 only is it working now
Yea, it is working now. But there are some issues in the apk created.
For some reason, the installed app is not replacing all available icons. i.e. the Project\project-name\res\drawable-hdpi folder has that icon, but when the apk is built, that icon doesn't replace the default icon in app drawer.
Nova launcher provides option of individual icon selection from an icon pack. Long press any app, select change icon, select icon-pack; all icons in that icon pack is displayed. But this last step doesn't work for icon-packs created with this tool.
Since this is just first version of this tool, I guess this is just bug report / feature request. A great tool nonetheless. :highfive:

1.ah ok , icons doesn't show maybe it's caused by activity name ( eg 2.3 Gallery and 4.0 Gallery ) that it need to update database , it's reason why we have "Start Activity Watch" button to add custom activity from user's phone :silly:
2.About selection from icon pack, i forgot to add drawable item in project  It's used in GO Launcher too, i will add it to night when i'm back home :highfive:

[SIMPLE GUIDE + LOCKRINGS] [ALL ANDROID ROMS] Change lockrings on any rom

ALL OF THE LOCKRINGS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE 5TH POST
G’Day XDA,
This is a really simple to do guide on changing the lockring on both a stock Samsung circle lockscreen and the AOSP lockscreen on ALL SAMSUNG, AOSP & AOKP ROMS and essentially this same method should also work on ALL ANDROID ROMS that are both ODEXED & DEODEXED. I have tested both using my own phone which is a Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 which is running a stock Samsung odexed rom. I have been told that it also works on a Sony Xperia Arc. Your specific rom may have the lockring file named as something else, so you may need to go into framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi (or-xhdpi or -mdpi depending on what device/rom you're running) to find the correct file. If you need help you can attach your framework-res.apk in here and I will do my best to help you out.
This is really easy to do for even a beginner like me, so I’m sure anyone that reads this will be able to do it. There are a few prerequisites to this mod – first of all you need a computer with an unzip style program like 7Zip, your phone needs to be rooted and you also need some kind of file manager (I use ES File Explorer but lots of people say they use Root Explorer). You will also need to have access to a program like Photoshop or Irfanview or Pixlr or Greenfish Icon Editor Pro if you want to change any pictures yourself. I have detailed everything step by step below with pictures so it should be very easy to follow.
Here's the guide…
(Lockrings in 5th post) PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU MAKE A NANDROID/CWM BACKUP BEFORE TRYING THIS - I CAN'T BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS YOU FACE, BUT I WILL DO MY BEST TO HELP YOU OUT IF YOU DO RUN INTO PROBLEMS
Step 1 - You will need to download the lockring that you would like to use. I have used different styles from HERE and also from HERE and also made my own. You can find some lockring collections made by martintspedersen HERE and by shishircoolin HERE. If you are smart enough to make your own using a program like Photoshop or Pixlr then top work. Just make sure that it is definitely a PNG file. Also make sure that if you want any of it transparent that it actually is (I made this mistake and it didn’t look very good, so I had to get my gorgeous fiancée to fix it up for me, as she is highly skilled in the art of Photoshop). Save the lockring onto your computer somewhere (I keep all of my stuff in a Mods folder) and you will need to modify it soon.
Step 2 - You will need to make a copy of framework-res.apk (which is located in /system/framework) and put it anywhere onto your phone’s SD card. Again, I use a folder called Mods which is easy to locate and remember.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 3 - Plug a micro USB cable into your phone and then plug the other end into your computer. Open the directory where you saved framework-res.apk (for me it is GTI9100/Phone/Mods) and move it onto your computer’s desktop.
Step 4 - Now right click on framework-res.apk and select 7Zip – Open Archive.
Step 5 - Within the opened 7Zip archive, navigate to res\drawable-hdpi\ (or res\drawable-xhdpi on a Galaxy Nexus) and locate these files:
For the stock Samsung Circle Lockscreen, find unlockscreen_lock_01.png to unlockscreen_lock_20.png. These usually have a padlock ranging in different stages of unlocking, but I have used the same picture in all of them. You can do the same or modify them slightly, it's up to you.
For the AOSP Lockscreen, find ic_lockscreen_handle_normal.png which is the lock that is visible when a hardware button is pressed, and ic_lockscreen_handle_pressed.png is the same lock with the ring around it that appears when you press the lock.
Step 6 - Change the name of the lockring PNGs that downloaded earlier and want to use to the corresponding file names. For example, I have changed the PNGs in the first picture to use in the stock Samsung Circle lockscreen and the PNGs in the second picture are for the AOSP Lockscreen:
Step 7 - Now drag the renamed PNGs into the res\drawable-hdpi folder. Click yes when it asks you to confirm.
Step 8 - Close the 7Zip archive and now copy your newly modified framework-res.apk back onto the SD card of your phone. Again for me, I use the Mods file so it's easy to find.
Step 9 - Now on your phone, open your file explorer and navigate to where your modified framework-res.apk is. Long press it and select Move To and move it to the System folder on the root directory of your phone.
Step 10 - Now navigate to the System folder and long press on the framework-res.apk and select Properties. You will see this:
Notice how the Permissions is set to rw- rw- rw-? We need to change this otherwise you'll have big problems. Click the Change button and you will see this:
Step 11 - Uncheck the Group - write and Other - write boxes so that it looks like this:
Now click OK and you will see this:
Now click OK.
Step 12 - Now long press on framework-res.apk and select Move To. Move it to the Framework folder within System.
You will see the following warning:
Click OK. Now your phone will freeze. This is ok. It will be frozen for roughly 1 - 1½ minutes, then it will restart.
Once it reboots, you will be staring at your new masterpiece!
Stock Samsung Circle Lockscreen
ICS Lockscreen
LOCKRINGS (These are made for a HDPI screen and are at 162dp x 162dp)
Ok below are a bunch of lockrings for everyone to use. I have also included the Stock ICS lockring and the Stock Samsung Circle lockring so that if you want to modify them yourself then you can. The other lockrings were made by me (apart from Metallica which was made by martintspederen). Just click on the picture you want and it will open up a new tab where you can download it. Once it's downloaded, extract the files and rename them to the appropriate file name for your particular lockscreen. Requests are both welcome and encouraged!
ALL OF THE LOCKRINGS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO THE 5TH POST, SO PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE AND DOWNLOAD THEM
Now if this post helped you I would love to know about it, so please post a reply. Even post screen shots of what you have done would be great.
Cheers XDA,

Are you talking about the wallpapers that are in the screenshots in the guide? If so then it is actually a live wallpaper. I downloaded a program called Windows 7 Dreamscene Activator which you can get from here and I know it says it is for Windows 7 but I am running Vista and it works on my computer and I know it runs on XP Premium as well.
So once you install Dreamscene Activator you just right click on any mpg file and select Set as Desktop Background and then you've got a live wallpaper. Then I just searched for dreamscene wallpaper download on Google and that's how I found the Android one which is on the Dreamscene website here but for some reason it's not working at the moment. I just uploaded it for you, so click here and you can download it. Enjoy
Thanks... Will download it tommorow morning....

I'm fairly certain that you need to go to Control Panel/Display then click on the Appearance tab and then click the Advanced button.
In this section you can change the colour for all of the backgrounds and text that you want. It's pretty cool.
Let me know how you go?

Sure mate. What device are you using? And do you mean the lockscreen that you use to enter in a pattern to unlock the phone? How big exactly do you want it? I have a bit of an idea the files that you need to modify but I would like to know the device to be able to help you as best I can.

[ TOOL ][ WINDOWS ][ BETA ] OOne ROM Editor

[SIZE=+1]I suggest reading the entire OP thoroughly from start to finish. I've put a lot of effort and time in to producing this utility and this OP in an attempt to make using OOne ROM Editor as simple as possible and to achieve the best results with OOne ROM Editor.[/SIZE]
Introduction
Because the system partition on these particular devices is only 190 MB, this tool was written to assist with removing unwanted applications, ringtones, and fonts from ICS and JB roms so as to shrink the overall size of the system partition prior to flashing.
A typical installation of any Android 4.0 and newer ROM will only leave a few KB of space remaining on the system partition. This is the reason why the ROMs need to be trimmed.
This tool will only edit ICS and JB ROMs for LG Optimus One family devices. Please refer to the help documentation for complete details and supported devices.
Updated 01/08/2013
New GUI but it is pretty self-explanatory. Various build actions can be accessed by right clicking in the list-view.Features
Remove system apps or even convert them to user apps
LatinIME Keyboard Editor - Create a mini LatinIME.apk from the language dictionaries you choose. JB ROMs only.
User Apps Manager - Manage system apps converted to user apps as well as including apps from your local file system ( hard drive )
Recycle Bin - Restore files accidentally removed from the current build
Remove 'assert' statement from the updater-script. This is for those who are using a recovery that will only allow flashing P500 ROMs. Like CWM 5.0.2.7 Touch
Installation
Just download and unzip to a folder of your choosing and run OOneROMEditor.exe. This tool has no external dependencies. Some things to keep in mind while using OOne ROM Editor
You cannot add system apps to the build ROM. Sorry, that defeats the purpose of this utility.
The major size difference between OOne's ROMs and the source ROMs is OOne does NOT include the "Extras" folder from the source ROM in it's build.
After using the keyboard editor it will place the LatinIME.apk in the apps "Recycle Bin". This is not an error but done on purpose. I use this list, the "Recycle Bin" contents that is, to skip over files in the source ROM that I don't want included in the build. The mini LatinIME.apk will appear in the correct folder, user data or system, in the output ROM.
Steps to obtain the best results from OOne ROM Editor
After choosing the ROM you wish to edit
Select "System Apps" in the treeview control on the left side of the GUI. Remove/delete/move any unwanted apk's at this time. DO NOT delete or remove LatinIME.apk.
Go to the Tools menu and select "LatinIME Keyboard Editor". Choose whatever dictionaries to include in the mini LatinIME and press the 'Apply' button to save the choices. From here, the keyboard editor will remove LatinIME.apk from the "System Apps" list.
Remove any unwanted fonts and ringtones. I usually don't bother.
Add any additional user apps. Select "User Apps" in the treeview on the left side of the GUI then right click in listview control on the right side of the GUI. A popup menu will appear and then choose/select the "Add" command item. A file dialog will appear and you can add as many additional files that you'd like to the user data partition. Note :: The more apps that you add, the longer it will take for the device to boot the first time.
Press F12 or go to the Tools menu and then select the "Build->Build Options" menu item. Set any options and press the "Apply" button.
Now build the trimmed ROM. Press F9 or go to the Tools menu and then select "Build->Build ROM" menu item.
Thanks

This tool was designed to assist with removing unwanted applications, ringtones, and fonts from our CM10 roms so as to shrink the overall size of the system partition prior to flashing a CM10 rom. This tool will only edit CM10 ROMs for LG Optimus One family devices. Meaning, if the chosen base rom is not a CM10 rom or it's not build for LG-P500, LG-P500h, LG-P505, LG-P506, or LG-P509 devices, then it won't allow you to edit the rom. This was done intentionally, since it seems that our devices are the ones with the small system partition.
I do have future plans for a universal ROM editor however. Also, you can find a slightly better description of the workings of this tool and want not in the 'docs' folder.
Know Issues
This tool has been developed and tested on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. It is a 32 bit tool however. I have a beta tester who tried to run this on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and well, it crashed. So, currently this tool will NOT run on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I'm looking into this issue.
Features

User Apps Manager - Manage system apps converted to user apps as well as including apps from your local filesystem
Recycle Bin - Restore files accidentally removed from the current build

Have you or anyone else tried this on Windows 8? Curious if it runs on it or not. Damn 64 bit systems. It may be time for me to change programming languages, as much as I hate to.
Ok. I see there's been about 100 downloads of this so far. I realize that in most cases no news is good news, however that makes it difficult to improve the software without any feedback. So... if there are any issues or suggestions for this tool, please let me know.
And, I have a few more abilities in the works...
Thanks for the excellent tool,Great idea.
Just one suggestion, while selecting the file to be deleted from media folder only single item can be selected, kindly enable multi select.

[TUTORIAL] Enable Galaxy S6 Theme Engine on Galaxy S5

Enable Galaxy S6 Theme Engine on Galaxy s5
Whether you are a seasoned Android user or a new one, you must have felt the lack of a native theme engine on your device. For most android users custom mods, ROMs, 3rd party launchers and icon packs are major means to theme their device the way they want. It’s not that all Android devices of bereft of a native theme support.
Some OEMs now seem to understand the wish of users. LG, HTC and Sony devices support color based themes and recently Samsung introduced an inbuilt theme engine in some of its phones. The newly launched Galaxy S6, along with a plethora of hardware and software improvements, also brings a default theme engine. The Galaxy S6 houses a powerful theming system that allows users to do heavy customization on the TouchWiz UI.
The S6 theme engine is quite different from the theming system found on LG, HTC or Sony devices and closer to CM Theme Engine. Applying a new theme on the Galaxy S6 changes things like the home screen wallpaper, fonts, settings and notification pop ups, dialer, messaging and dialog boxes and so on.
Samsung’s new theming system is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S6 only but in the world of Android, such kinds of exclusivities stay intact just for a few days. Thanks to our smart developer community and the open source attribute of Android!

Getting the Galaxy S6’s theming system on your phone is as easy as copying some files to your phone’s system partition and doing a little modification in the features.xml using a root browser.
Instructions to Enable Galaxy S6 Theme Engine
Make sure you have a rooted Note4. You can also try the mod on the Galaxy Note 3.
Your device must have stock TouchWiz based Lollipop ROM.
Make sure you have a root file browser app installed on your device. If not, install it now
Also install BusyBox on your phone. When the app is installed open it and install the BusyBox script.
Download the Lollipop theme enabler files in a single zip and unzip the file:Lollipop_Themes_Enabler.zip
No copy the Lollipop_Themes_Enabler folder to your device.
Open Root Browser app, navigate to Lollipop_Themes_Enabler folder open it. You would find two sub-folders inside, namely app and csc.
Open the app folder and copy its contents to System/app directory on your phone. Do not forget to set file permissions for each of the copied Apk files to rw-r–r– (0644).
Now open the csc folder, copy the theme_app_list.xml and paste it to System/csc. Do not forget to fix file permissions for this file too.
Using Root Browser, now go to system/etc/, tap and hold floating_feature.xml and select open/edit option.
Now find the following string:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_COMMON_CONFIG_CHANGEABLE_UI></SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_COMMON_CONFIG_CHANGEABLE_UI>
Click to collapse
And add ‘theme v2″ in the middle of the code as shown below:
<SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_COMMON_CONFIG_CHANGEABLE_UI>themev2</SEC_FLOATING_FEATURE_COMMON_CONFIG_CHANGEABLE_UI>
Click to collapse
Save your changes and exit Root Browser.
Make sure you have done everything correctly and then reboot your phone. When your device boots up, tap and hold and empty space on the home screen and along with Wallpaper, Widgets and Home screen Setting, you’ll find an extra option called Themes. Just tap it and start playing with the 4 themes available there. Cheers!

I have the exact same problem.
SM-901F, stock TouchWiz 5.0.2 (Singapore SingTel BOE1), rooted via CF-Autoroot . It installs fine & adds the "Themes" button, but causes a "TouchWiz home has stopped". I've seen others report the same. Has anyone done this successfully on the S5 _Plus_, running 5.0.2 ?
