How to flash the Marshmallow update on your SM-G920T (plus root and Xposed!) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

[WARNING]: Use at your own risk. This WILL trip Knox and void your warranty beginning at Step 9.
This is only for the T-Mobile variant. I don't have any other S6 to test this with, so I cannot tell you if it will work for other versions.
Thanks goes to the respective devs for creating the needed files and instructions that I'm simply combining here
Files you'll need:
Odin 3.10.7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711451
TWRP: https://idlekernel.com/twrp/zeroflte/3.0.2-1/twrp-3.0.2-1-zeroflte.tar.md5 (linking directly to the file gives me a 404 - sorry!)
SuperSU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
The ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...20t-android-6-0-1-marshmallow-update-t3356838
Optional:
Xposed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960 (xposed-v81.0-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20160411)
and Xposedinstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811)
How to flash Marshmallow on the Samsung SM-G920T via Odin:
1. Download and install the Samsung drivers
2. Copy SuperSU to your phone (OPTIONAL: Copy Xposed installer .ZIP too)
3. Extract the ROM from the .ZIP file
4. In Windows, run Odin as Administrator
5. Power off phone and put in Download mode (Power+Home+Volume Down)
6. Plug in phone
7. Put the ROM in the AP slot in Odin
8. Click Start
Once flashing is done, the phone will reboot
How to gain root via Odin:
9. In Windows, run Odin as Administrator
10. Power off phone and put in Download mode (Power+Home+Volume Down)
11. Plug in phone
12. Put the TWRP MD5 file in the AP slot
13. Click Start
Once flashing is done, the phone will reboot
14. Power off your phone and boot into Recovery (Power+Home+Volume Up)
15. Navigate to install and choose the file for SuperSU
16. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
17. Reboot
Optional: Installing Xposed
18. Power off your phone and boot into Recovery (Power+Home+Volume Up)
19. Navigate to Install and choose the file for Xposed
20. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
21. Reboot
22. Once you're back in Android, install the Xposed APK and reboot
You can also just skip Steps 16 through 18 and include the file for Xposed at the same time you're installing SuperSU. Just wipe Cache/Dalvik before rebooting.

Don't you have to be Deodexed to flash Xposed? Though I have successfully flashed Xposed on the MM Odexed Stock ROM, I couldn't get any of the modules to work..

I read in a different post regarding issues of OTG support after flashing TWRP. Do you know by chance if this issue has been resolved?

Xposed works on the stock rooted ROM. I'm running XTouchWiz, Burnt Toast, ButteredToast, MinminGuard, BlackList, AdBlocker, XPrivacy and XPrivacy Button.
I haven't tried my OTG with MM yet, but will tonight when I get home from work.

@General_Mayhem,
I'm curious as to know why you're linking an unofficial recovery? TWRP lists 3.0.2-0 as their latest version. Idlekernel does not seem to have a front end page detailing exactly what they're hosting...

Because that was one mentioned in another thread and the one I used. I wrote this up based off what I personally used and did. It's not just a regurgitation of accumulated information.

I have a G920T that I am using on cricket. If I flash this, will it compromise my service?
Thanks

I came from having a Nexus device, now I use the s6. Why can't I just odin flash the BL and radio and then twrp flash an s6 MM ROM?

You probably could - if I had links to those individually and cared to update this post to include those.
Mods - please close this thread. I didn't intend this to be come a support thread, just a how-to.
Thanks.

Honestly, no worries. I'm not on here a lot anymore and can't devote any time to answering questions. I felt closing the thread was the best way to keep from being queried when I can't always give a prompt response.

Dualboot for i9295[a touch of Freedom] :)

IMPORTANT! This is NOT my work, all credits to the Genius chenxiaolong who made this available for all Galaxy S4 Variants
See original Thread [PATCHER][APP] Dual boot any ROM on all Galaxy S4 variants!
The Story:
I don´t like Touchwiz very much but for some Reasons I always have to come back to it. Maybe the Camera, sometimes the Allshare Features for Smart TV...Everybody has his Reasons to use/need it sometimes...
Untill today, I had to backup/restore between Sammy and Cyanogenmod a lot, It bugged me but I thought there is no choice till I found this Thread. First, I was a little afraid because there is a lot of Information in the OP and some stuff to do but then I thought, what may happen? Bootloop, Odin, Hard-brick,naaah, what´s Life without a little risk?
So I tried and it works !
If you want to do what I did, just follow these (very easy) Instructions.
Think about what your doing. This is your very own Device with your very own contract so please proceed at your very own risk! I have tested this exactly the way it is written down here and it worked. So if something goes wrong on your Device, don´t blame me or the Developer of this fantastic App!!
...Make sure your an owner of the international Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (i9295) (if not, tell me what happened )
...If your on a stock Sammy Rom, make sure that you are rooted and have a custom recovery installed...
...Also, you will need to delete some System Apps to free Space for secondary Rom but please don´t ask me which. There is enough Bloatware inside but a good start for me always is "HRS Hotels", "Google Maps/Mail/Plus" and so on...
1. Download the 3 Files from chenxiaolong´s Thread (not linked but you will find it...remember, this is NOT my work!)
- Dualboot Patcher
- Dualboot Switcher App
- Dualbootutility.zip
2. Download the custom Rom of your choice. In my case, I used
cm-10.2-20131227-UNOFFICIAL-jactiveltexx.zip
and official Gapps
3. Install the Dualboot Patcher and run it on your Device
4. Follow its Instructions to patch your custom Rom and, if needed, also the Gapps
5. Install the Dualboot Switcher App and run it
6. Set current Kernel as "Primary ROM´s Kernel"
7. Reboot into recovery
8. Flash your patched Rom File(s)
9. Reboot (the Device will NOW boot into secondary Rom!)
10. Install Dualboot Switcher App in 2nd Rom
11. Now you can choose between primary and secondary Rom to boot
12. Done
Please press THANKS in original Thread and, if you can, donate some to chenxiaolong because this is awesome!!!
Easy, isn´t it? Yes, it is. It is exactly what I was looking for because now I can use both worlds, the beautiful and the beast
English wasn´t my Mother´s language so please excuse me for mistakes you surely will find
Greetings
Thomas

At what point to flash the 2nd ROM?
Hi,
To me the instructions are not very clear. At what point do I install/flash the 2nd rom. For example if my current ROM is CM10.2, how do I get a second rom (sammy) onto the phone?
Can you be a bit more precise on the steps?
Thank you very much

Hey,
if you want to flash a Sammy Rom as 2nd Rom you need to have it as a flashable zip File (you will find them here in this Forum)
This should be the 2nd step in OP then, so just continue with the list
But don´t forget to delete some Files from /system of the Stock Rom to have enough Space for both Rom inside the /system Folder of your Device.
I hope that helped ?

@d8389 posted mk3 here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45757227) and there are no big changes in ml3 I think.
But, why not flash Sammy as primary with Odin, makes things way easier

Sorry for not understanding:
I would love to do precisely that, but that way i will loose root and have to re-install CMW-recovery won't I?
I will try to figure out the steps to take:
1. Reboot into CWM and install DualBootUtilities
2 .Set CM10.2 somehow as Secondary ROM?
3. Flash your already patched CM10.2 ROM and GAPPS on 2nd ROM
4. Somehow set 1st ROM active and connect in Download-mode to ODin and Flash I9295XXUBML3.tar.md5 ?
Going in the right direction ??

Let's say you've set up a Sammy Rom completely including root and cwm recovery. The normal way as usual.
If you downloaded the already patched Files, place them somewhere you can find em.
Now, install and start the "Dualboot Switcher" app and set first Rom as primary.
Boot into Recovery.
Install the patched Files the normal way.
Reboot, phone will boot into second Rom now by default.
Once, second Rom has booted, install and run the "Dualboot Switcher" app again. Inside the App you can now choose which Rom to boot, then push reboot Button inside the App.
Done
I hope that helped but feel free to ask!

No, this way Odin will flash Sammy Rom and everything will be gone.
Now, after you flashed Sammy successfully, flash cwm recovery, root, delete some bloat and then (!) work down the list in OP
Then it will work. Without offense, you need to read more careful

But i will be fine, serious
I am just waiting for my apps to re-install...so i wondered...when i have 2 roms/dualboot, will the Samsung Update show me an update in the stock rom? So, like kitkat is coming next month? #ProbablyNot
Well... Back to single boot CM10.2 for now...
Didn't work out for me but I'll be back for a 2nd attempt soon.
Meanwhile: SammyStock won't update in dual boot setup (obvious)
Had to disable Knox along the way to be able to install some apps that required root privileges.

10. Remove some bloatware
11. Reboot into recovery and flash patched zip files (CM10.2 + GAPPS)

Yes, you are very close
I´d do it this way :
After a fresh install of your Sammy Stock Rom, let it set up. Then, turn of Device and restart into Download Mode
1. Root with Odin Flash this recovery with Odin
2. CWM-recovery with Odin After flash, Device will reboot, press Vol Up + Home, it will go into recovery
2a. Flash this from Recovery
2b. Reboot Device and Click on the SU App. Let it do it´s job (it will install stuff and disable KNOX)
3. Enable Developer-mode not needed
4. Disable Knox is done by SU App
5. Enable USB-debugging not needed
6. Enable 'Install unverfied apps' and disable Google unverified app install warning
7. (can't find ADB-settings in this ROM?) not there in stock and not needed
8. Install Dual Boot Switcher app
9. Set kernel 1st ROM as primary kernel
10. Remove some bloatware
10a. Apps like Google+, Maps, Samsung Bloat are good candidates for this as they are downloadable from store later or not needed at all
11. Reboot into recovery and flash patched zip files (CM10.2 + GAPPS)
12. Reboot and install Dual Boot Switcher app in 2nd ROM
13. Install Titanium backup and restore apps+app-data
Yes, there should be no Problems with TB even tho you´ll get warnings about SU. It works.
Good luck

[OTA] [KITKAT] For 98.18.94 stock phones

I had my phone download this and then just copied it off. My phones build was 98.18.94. Not sure what the difference between this and 98.30 is. I'm rooted so I haven't installed it but it's here for anyone that wants it. My phone downloaded a different version than I found online. It was version 182.46.10XT907.Verizon.en.US. My understand is that it should leave the bootloader unlocked. It will replace the recovery, radio and other system partitions. If you removed anything from the /system/apps folder then I think it will fail/abort install. I've removed some so I need/want to RSD back to stock and then update but if I do then I'll lose root which I use.
Yes, and with SELinux and some other enhancements in KitKat I wouldn't even take a future root for granted.

Posting updates on how to use this thru the stock recovery.
This is how it is supposed to be used:
1 - Flash LATEST stock SBF of JB thru RSD. (Android 4.1.2
Blur_Version.98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US)
2 - After RSD flash reboot phone on stock recovery and proceed to install update from SD card, here select the file that is provided at the beginning of the thread.
3 - After this first flash completes, phone is going to reboot in recovery again, to open the menu of this specific recovery, the combo of the buttons is power + vol up.
4 - proceed to install from sd card again and select the same file that you selected on the second step.
5 - Wait for it to finish
6 - Wipe data/factory reset
7 - Select restart system, Phone will restart in KK, enjoy guys.
Keep in mind that you have to follow the explanation at the beggining of the thread or this one, if you dont follow this steps like this, you wont be able to install this update or you wont be able to finish installing the update.
is this the offical KK update?
Yes it is official. Like I posted earlier, its OTA from Verizon.

I doubt it. It's for stock phones. It will need a stock recovery I do believe.
Hmmm..
My razr is stock & rooted, and I have manually removed several bloat apps. If I attempt to this update ota could it cause any harm to my system aside from possible abort/update fail? Will it remove root? Gracias.

My understanding is you can retain some root functionality using SuperSU Pro's Survival Mode. I believe you'll still lose R/W capability.
The best approach would be to unlock your bootloader. I've heard some success with custom recovery, though stock recovery would be best bet.

This method did not work for me after i flashed back to 98.30.1 the stock recovery doesnt see the update and i just get the android logo. When i go to software updates the service is unavailable/
my bootloader has unlock. and does it mean I can have root permission after I flash the stock zip package?
OK here it is, black and white and very simple:
Bootloader Locked - NO ROOT, NO CUSTOM RECOVERY.
Bootloader Unlocked - CWM Recovery and FULL ROOT with SuperSu.
That's it, no if ands or buts.

[ROM] 100% Stock L720_OD2 - 5.0.1 (Original Model Only)

**Suggested** FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW (ROM is also compatible with TWRP).
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet Here.
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play Here.
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
**Caution!** The following process is only for the original Sprint L720 S4 Variant. Use on any other device may result in a hardbrick!
Download:
- L720_OD2_Stock_Rooted_ROM
Set your screen timeout setting to 10 mins before beginning!
1. Place the ROM onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard).
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Press "Wipe" and check all options except "Internal storage" then press the checkmark to continue.
5. Press "(+)" once again and select "Flash Zip or OTA" and locate and select the ROM. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
6. From the main menu "Tap-Hold-Drag" your "Actions" and place them in the following order:
- "Wipe"
- "Flash Zip or OTA"
7. Uncheck all options under "EverRoot" and use default "Reboot" setting.
8. Last, press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash.
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system before beginning the flash. FlashFire will pause for about 1 minute while flashing the "system" partition. Once complete your device will reboot and pause on the Samsung splash screen for about 5 - 7 minutes before completely rebooting. Done!
Tip: for blazing fast speed turn off animations from Developer Options and reboot!
Known Issues:
- Wifi may not function. To resolve the issue...power down (or pull battery) before entering "Download" Mode then Odin flash the modem from Post #2.
Notes:
1. The ROM will update your Modem, Non-hlos, Kernel, System, and Bootloader to OD2 (your recovery will not be updated).
2. The ROM is also compatible with TWRP (Full wipe recommended)!
3. To learn more about FlashFire's capabilities see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60070810&postcount=2
Alternative Odin Method:
1. Extract the L720_OD2_Pre-Rooted_Firmware.tar from the .rar archive.
2. Pull battery from your device then reinsert and boot into "Download" mode.
3. Uncheck "Auto-Reboot" in Odin and flash the firmware using PDA/AP Slot (depending on your Odin version).
4. Once the flash completes pull the battery again and boot into Recovery, perform a Factory Data Reset then Reboot. Done!
Notes:
1. This method will void your warranty and set your warranty bit to (0x1).
2. This method will update your modem, kernel, and system to OD2 but will not update your bootloader or recovery.
Allow from 5 - 7 minutes for first boot.

Yes, but you can also flash with FlashFire.
Great work! Glad to see there are still some developers left for this device!
Just curious - for the modem only, I see it includes non-hlos.bin and mdm.bin. What does apnhlos.bin do, and why is it not included in the modem tar? I also noticed previous modem-only's have not included apnhlos, but I am wondering if we are missing out on added functionality by not keeping that up to date as well?
Thanks.

The non-hlos is the lte portion of the modem and you can get away with it on unlocked bootloader devices but still a good practice to have all matching partitions in my opinion.

Yes, it will replace your custom recovery with stock OD2.
The idea was to share a way to update to stock, rooted OD2 without first having to Odin back to stock to successfully take the ota.
You can then reflash Twrp after flashing the ROM or continue using FF for flashing zips/backups, etc.

If there isn't a benefit to stock recovery (Doesn't sound like it) then I would remove it and simply update the modem and the OS.

Super R was the first thing I tried.. In the Tools folder he has old and new oatdex files.. I tried both with little success.. I had to brutally debloat and lost my finger print scanner.. Setting.apk would force close on security settings..
Thanks for the link.. I'll take a look at it..
I don't have the time to flash the ROM, but I'll install it later on tonite..
Edit: you could copy the oat2dex file from that Deodexer script to Super R, in the Tool/Smali directory.. that should allow proper deodexing in Super R..

Does this ROM break encryption? Thanks!

My guess is that it will break encryption since the zip wipes data (data partition is encrypted)...but if it doesn't, who knows if the phone will boot. You will need a usb-otg to flash from since twrp wont be able to read the SD card partition.
I do know that I could not encrypt my phone with the patched kernel, I had to use the stock kernel. Once encrypted, I was able to flash super su to root the phone, but twrp was all kinds of red because it could not mount the data partition. Since it won't mount, you don't have a way to "nandroid backup" your phone.
Flashfire might be the solution for backing up encrypted phones, I made 2 backups with flashfire, though I haven't tried to restore. I think flashfire works with the encryption because it does not reboot until after its done, and it seems the phone is decrypted when it runs.

The instructions tell you to use and links to a specific version of TWRP, yet you somehow missed that.
You stated in this post that you used Twrp 3.0 and only used the Twrp version linked in the instructions after you bootlooped, smh: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...stuck-loop-t3360447/post66404317#post66404317

I recommend everyone put the Flashfire AP zip and Rom Zip on your internal storage as the AP file is so large that it may not be read properly do too limitations of some SD Cards. When you select AP file in Firmware there should be 4 partitions that are selected. If not then you have a bad download or need to have AP file on internal storage
Outstanding work. Thank you for this amazing rom.

Thanks jrkruse for this , very much appreciated!
I just noticed your 930t post just now so I am very grateful and about to flash it.
I am currently on the previous ROM that you posted which is for the edge.
I had heavy lag after rooting due to the eng boot.img flashed on odin but after tinkering with L Speed, it's been much faster .
I'm going to do it over again using the 930t files you posted but I have a question if possible you can answer...
When you mention above thar there is no lag because stock boot.img is used... Does that only refer to the rom being flashed and not rooted ? Because of course the eng boot.img I need to flash on odin is necessary to be able to acquire root and this would leave me in the end with lag due to having to flash that eng boot img. ..
im hoping I'm wrong..
is there a way to flash in odin the eng boot, acquire root , and then flash back the stock boot.img and perhaps leaving me rooted and on a stock lag free boot.img ?
I read through the entire edge thread and other places and was hoping a solution but It may not be possible or I'm just missing something obvious? I'd rather not deal with tweaking using lspeed or kernel auditor etc. But if rooting only possible way is to be stuck with the eng boot img i guess I'll take the risk..
Thanks again !:good:

Following The directions will get you a nonrooted custom rom that can be manipulated by adb such as deleting stuff or pushing files to system and will pass safetynet checks. If you want a rooted rom it means you have to have the eng boot.img. If you root the rom and and only flash back stock boot.img you will not have root but as soon as you flash back eng boot.img you will have root again. but doing this breaks safetynet

PS I did tried with mod and didn't like it and reflashed without mods.

The whole Rom is a customized stock nonrooted Rom. PlayStore and BSFree were my signature roms back in the day.
Playstore= almost all Samsung apps replaced with google apps that are found on the play store
BSFree= Highly debloated Rom with Samsung apps
NoNaMe= Systemui mods from that Rom.
You can choose whatever you want on install
My walkthrough
For amateurs like me, I put together some more detailed instructions. I hope this provides help for some users. Following the below steps I had no issues, it works great, and is very speedy. If there are any issues with my steps PLEASE correct me! I'm doing my best to contribute, not the opposite!
Thanks jrkruse, @umaro, and all others for this! So far I'm loving it!
My Steps:
1) ODIN (PC program) https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591023225177749
a. Setup:
-Make sure you have latest device drivers setup on your PC
-Enable USB Debugging on phone
-Boot phone into Download/Odin Mode: Turn off your device and press and hold Power button + Volume Down + Home. When you see the warning screen press Vol UP. Phone should say "Downloading..."
-Connect USB from PC to phone. ID:COM in Odin should turn Blue with a COM port
b. Unzip TMO_G930_Odin_Firmware.zip & select the (4) files from this zip (BL,AP,CP,CSC) in ODIN. Make sure all (4) get populated & selected
c. Options: Only these should be selected: Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
d. Select START
e. When you get a green PASS! message in Odin, that means firmware has successfully been installed. Be patient as first boot may take a while
f. Exit ODIN
2) Phone Setup: After phone restarts for 1st time, go through setup as normal. (Ignore different carriers logos and SIM warnings)
3) ODIN: Restart phone back into Download/ODIN mode. Unzip ADB_Root_Flat_Files.zip, select ONLY AP_Nougat_S7_Flat_EngBoot.tar.md5, select START & wait for it to finish & restart phone
4) Gain Root:
a. Once phone comes back up, unzip ADB_Root_Flat_Files\Nougat_S7_Root_2_82_All_Carriers_V2.zip & Run root.bat. This will restart phone
b. After phone restarts, press key to continue install. I used options 2 & 1. Wait for phone to restart again. Should have root now.
5) FLASHFIRE/AROMA (App is now installed on phone via root script)
a. Unzip FlashFire_Flashable_G930T_Firmware.zip & copy unzipped file to your phone. Copy TMO_FLAT_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_NoNaMe_QF6_V4.zip to your phone. NOTE: Copy to internal memory NOT SD card.
b. Open FlashFire app on phone.
c. Choose + button, Flash ZIP, select TMO_FLAT_HYBRID_PLAYSTORE_BS_FREE_NoNaMe_QF6_V4.zip, select Mount /system option, touch checkmark button
d. Choose + button, Click add firmware & select AP_FlashFire_Only_G930_QF6_Firmware.tar.md5. Select all partitions, touch checkmark button
e. The flash order should be: Flash firmware package, then Flash ZIP. Everroot disabled. FLASH! Phone will restart into Aroma installer.
f. When phone comes up after script, select WIPE ALL DATA. (First boot will take 10+ minutes too boot)
---------- Post added at 07:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:38 PM ----------
Curious (and looking to identify different tweak options), would I need to go through ALL the steps again in order to access the Flashfire/Aroma setup to pick different setups, like PlayStore or NoNaMe? Or is there a shortcut I could take?
