root? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

anyone tried to root with kingroot?
or has anyone tried to get bootloader unlock code from huawei?
i would prefer DC unlocker method for relocking bootloader without a sign to see for huawei (for warranty). i hope they will support the p9 soon.

Yes root please! Kingoroot doesnt work as of now..

I would think that the root method should be pretty much the same as the root method for the Huawei Mate 8... check out the XDA forum for it....
This still means that a TWRP needs created and tested.... maybe the Huawei Mate 8 one would work...
Of course this is at your own risk without flashable stock roms available

It does not work MATE 8 and in fact I could not get the stock recovery back on my P9 if anyone has the official update.app in Europe for testing would appreciate.

you may check this site here

They have listed a couple of files although they are only for the dual sim variante. But I guess the recovery.img should be the same for both sim variants

So as you're rooted, can you please extract build.prop from /system/ and upload it here.
Also can you please upload the output of following command using adb shell as root:
Code:
cat /proc/partitions
Furthermore, can you navigate to /dev/block/platform and search for the folder which has by-name folder inside it. Then upload the output of following command using adb shell:
ls -al /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name
(A friend of mine has asked me to build TWRP for this device. Hence I need this information)

You can see it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/win-zuk-z1-toolkit-0-1-alpha-t3235964
It's a toolkit to do some things with the zuk z1, like rooting, flashing a recovery... Until now I had Breadcrust's TWRP, but if you're okay with it I will add an option to flash your's too.

Is it possible to rehost your CWM on Android File Host as this is a more trusted source than copy.com. Apply for developer status and they'll let you upload if not then I can host it on my account.

Hi javireant,
I'm trying to use your toolkit to install the CWM recovery on my phone, but it gets stuck at <waiting for device> in fastboot mode. I'm using OSX El Captain on a MacBook Pro. Any ideas? I already did the unlock bootloader step first, but that didn't wipe the device. How do I check if the bootloader is actually unlocked?

I know... It happened to me yersterday. It may be that fastboot doesn't work properly on El Capitan. But the recovery has been flashed, you can enter it by turning off the phone, pressing volume up, volume down and power button at the same time. My mac even stopped responding... I will check it and see what I can do, but the flashing works. The only thing that didn't work was the command that reboots your phone into recovery

I'm quite sure that for me, the bootloader unlock didn't work even though it rebooted properly after the procedure. The recovery is still Cyanogen Recovery and rooting with a one-time TWRP boot fails when the boot.img is being pushed with "FAILED (remote: bootimage: incomplete or not signed)". So how do I confirm if the bootloader is unlocked (I'm pretty sure it isn't getting done). I'll look into the shell scripts and try to unlock manually.
UPDATE: Nevermind, OEM Unlock wasn't checked. Doing it again properly now.. Sorry

You should always check when unlocking the bootloader... Tell me if it unlocks it now... If not, copy the whole text in the terminal from the start of the script and send it to me so I can see what's going wrong...
EDIT: We should speak about this on the toolkit thread, not here hahaha i didn't realise

[XT1096] Device soft bricks when trying to install supersu

I am trying to root my device after unlocking and installing twrp. When I flash a rom and gapps it works fine but as soon as I flash supersu it softbricks. Anyone have any advice.
https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Use SuperSU beta 2.52
Don't flash the supersu zip.
In TWRP when you exit, TWRP asks if you want to root your phone, say yes. This works perfectly.

Most ROMs have SuperSU built in. Have you tried a root checker app? If not flash SuperSU v2.52 after a wipe, before flashing ROM and gapps.
I seem to be unable to root again following a wipe needed as Cyanogenmod 13.0 nightly lost WiFi in an update flash (was all rooted before the flash on cm13)
I've tried the 2.65 stable (no affect, no root), 2.67 beta (no affect no root), 2.52 beta (breaks rom, needs wiping) mentioned above.
Is there something awkward about the victara...?

edit: disregard, I forgot to enable root via the developer option. Good to go.

Root Huawei Mate S CRR - L09

Hi everybody ,
I'm writing from France, sorry for my English. I've bought a Mate S yesterdat (384euros, and I will get a 100€ refund via ODR), so i'm pretty excited.
I went on Internet to see how to root it : more complicated than I expected because it requires a custom recovery.
So i followed this tutorial: http://androidcustomrom1.blogspot.fr/2015/09/how-to-root-huawei-mate-s-crr-l09-and.html (or this one, this is the same : http://www.android.gs/root-install-twrp-recovery-huawei-mate-s/)
But i'm experiencing an issue at step 10 :
Step 10. Flash Mate S TWRP recovery now. Use the following command for that.
fastboot flash recovery mates-twrp.img
Click to collapse
When I do this, I get this error message :
FAILED (remote : command not allowed)
finished. total time : 0.693s
Click to collapse
see it here :

So i don't know what to do. Is it a problem of drivers? I've installed HiSuite (furnished when we plug-in the Mate S for the first time) and the ADB and Fastboot drivers (wide install) successfully... And the phone is easily recognized without any trouble.
Is it a problem of "locked bootloader"? If yes, how do I unlock the bootloader?
PS : during the process, when the phone is on "FASTBOOT&RESCUE MODE", the screen is showing : "PHONE Locked" (written in green) and FRP Unlock (written in red).
Thank you in advance !
yes you have to unlock the bootloader in order to be able to flash custom recovery..
got to the huawei website..
there should be somewhere near a search box a button named "unlock your device" or something similar..
then follow the steps and get the unlock code (maybe you have to register first for huawei services and use your account there for 14 days - search for the huawei id app in the web - with this on yoir phone and always logged in the 14 days are very fast over)
Gesendet von meinem HUAWEI CRR-L09 mit Tapatalk
Thank you for your answer.
I registered, received the confirmation link and then the website stopped working correctly. It's always saying "Site is inacessible" since I click on the confirmation link. Annoying...
I hope I will not have to wait 14 days to unlock the bootloader...
I got the code (unlocking password). I don't know how, the website was still buggy, but I acceded to Huawei ID website already logged in, and I arrived in the form where you enter informations about your phone (IMEI, Model, S/N, etc) to obtain the unlock code. It has given me the code instantly, I was surprised.
Now, where do I put this code? In CMD when being in FASTBOOT/RESCUE MODE?
Thank you very much
I've sent to you a private message to explain how to unlock bootloader

No you cant , you will have an error
You have to unlock the bootloader to flash the boot.img via fastboot or flash twrp and install the zip

Just booted into twrp like nothing happened;
Now if you're talking about stock recovery, you can always flash it back from the previous link

OEM deactivated in gray, How can I root without TWRP?

I need help. Unlock My Max 64 GB, then I wanted to install TWRP and made brick. Install the world room and China and at the beginning the OEM was normal, then unlock my computer because when I installed the ROM it was blocked, and the OEM became gray again with no option to modify. Will there be a solution?
Or how can I root without doing TWRP?
You can't. And why wouldn't you use TWRP if you already want to root your phone?

If you have unlocked your bootloader, then i don't see the reason why TWRP flashing wouldn't be possible. Can you post me a screenshot of CMD when you are trying to flash TWRP, i want to see what error are you getting there.
@haron09
I did not succeed

Yesterday I made fastboot and showed in CMD that it was successful. Today I try again and it shows me another different image

have you applied the unlock howto ?
have you received the xiaomi confirmation ?
look like this :
You've been granted the permission to unlock your device (Mi Account XXXXXXXXX). Download Mi Unlock Tool at http://en.miui.com/unlock/

To unlock, you have to connect your phone to a windows computer.
have you downloaded this file : miflash_unlock-en-2.3.803.10 ?
have you installed this file : MiUsbDriver.exe ?
have you launched this file to unlock (and login with your xiaomi account) : miflash_unlock.exe ?
hope this will help you.
good luck.

Hi. The first time I unlocked my cell phone receiving confirmation from Xiaomi and I did it successfully. I installed the twrp also successfully and the minute it made brick my cell phone. Then I installed a China Rom and a global , both were stable. It showed me that it was blocked then I unlocked it with the same program that Xiaomi sent me to the mail through a link. after getting the unlock, towards the process of twrp administrator mode with all the drivers. the first times it came out that the installation of the twrp was successful, as it was shown in the CMD but it really was not successful. After a couple of days I went back and showed me a message saying that the .img image was not loaded. But the real problem I see is that the OEM is locked in gray with no option to change it, I think that's the reason. My phone says unlocked.

something seems to be wrong when you are flashing twrp, can you post used command ?
look at mine :
$ sudo fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-oxygen.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (16120 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.424s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.098s]
finished. total time: 0.522s

When you boot your phone, did you get the word " unlocked" at the bottom of the screen ?
