What is XOSP and how was it born?
XOSP basically which stands for the Xperia Open Source Project was a project originally created by me for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) and the project was created like 2 years ago when that time XOSP wasn't even existing. It was just S+ Reborn. The main idea was to create a custom minimal Xperia based ROM, by including the essential things which a user would normal use from a ROM.
The S+ Reborn became to be a big success because it was eventually ported on different Xperia Phones and some other Samsung devices and from there the XOSP project was founded. From the XOSP Project also the Reborn addons were created featuring with an Aroma Installer. I worked on the project for 2 years by trying always to improve it constantly, eventually for the fact that LP on my Galaxy S+ became to be quite buggy i decided to stop the development and for about half of year the project was left in stanby till i decided to bring it back again on the Zenfone 2 devices.
The project started growing again so with the Release 4 the project will be completely refactored to XOSP
Revisions and Releases
I've got a different type of releasing, i will not provide weekly builds but just let me show you how the revisions and release type works: The revisions refers like to a sort of Nightly thing i mean the changes included in the ROM are small not as a Release one. All the releases got 5 revisions. So the Release is something even bigger right? Hell yeah! When a new Release is released expect many improvements or new features

I would like to help with the development and building with this ROM, I have rooted about 4 devices and had my fair share of hard and soft bricks, but no knowledge of code although I can slightly understand it. I do have pretty decent hardware to build ROMs on, so can I, with your aid, help maintain this device?

Do I need to flash xosp apps?
In the instructions you say: factory reset, flash rom zip, flash gapps, reboot. But download I see: rom zip, xosp apps, gapps. So, do I need to flash xosp apps as you don't mention them in the flashing instructions.
Thanks for your work!

Very nice rom. It's probably one of the smoothest I've ever used. I also like the fact it's Slim based with a theme engine and all the extra functions you get in other roms. The only reason why I won't use this rom for now is because battery wise it is quite bad compared to other roms like Mokee, Carbon etc.
Anyway keep up the good work and at last a question: have you ever considered porting Mahdi's rom to our device?

Excellent ROM .
I was unable to test the GPS fully, but I checked with GPS Status & Test - No Ads app and it showed 10/12 satellites found. So I think GPS is working for me.
But overall indeed it is incredibly smooth. I have just purchased this phone few weeks ago, and so far have liked the stock ROM (xTreme) the best because most the AOSP ROMS have the 'back' button animation lag (the whole window like glitches in its reverse animation) which annoys me (and did on my HTC One AOSP ROMS as well). But this ROM doesn't seem to have that. Very smooth.
One bug I found so far is for some reason I cannot find the place to enable 'Installing Apps' under security. Without this option, no APK can be installed using a file manager. I have quite a few I install that way, and being unable to install them is a bummer.
But overall, a very nice ROM. BTW to others (maybe put this into OP): It may look like it is bootlooping, but it isn't (if you flashed the steps correctly) this ROM optimizes the Apps behind the bootsplash, so it stays on the bootlogo for extra long (whereas most ROMS you see it 'Optimizing Apps'). Just give it 10 min before pulling battery.
Do we have to be on MM before we flash this?? I'm on LP right now.

Weird bug report, not sure if this is happening on CM-esque roms or what, but on the YouTube app and playing a video, if the video has an instant transition it will rarely freeze on the frame before the transition. The audio continues to play, but the video stays on a stuttering frame. Tapping the screen causes the video to function properly again and it moves to the correct frame of the video.
I hope I made that somewhat clear. It's a very odd bug that only rarely happens and I've only ever seen it on this ROM.
Also, I cannot get rid of the Nav bar in order to replace it with PIE. I uncheck the "enable navigation bar" button and restart, but the nav bar stays. Even using GravityBox(MM) doesn't work.
On a more important note, this is the best non-stock ROM I've used for the G4. The battery life is on par with Stock, if not better, and its performance is through the dang roof.

What is XOSP and how was it born?
XOSP stands for the Xperia Open Source Project. The project was initially created by me @nilac) for the Galaxy S+ (my old device) years ago. Back then the ROM was called S+ Reborn. The vision was to create a minimal bloat free ROM which included Sony Xperia specific apps and various tweaks users would expect from a custom ROM.
S+ Reborn became a success and was eventually ported to different devices so from there I rebranded and XOSP project was founded. I worked on the project for 2 years always trying to improve it. Eventually, Because of the fact Lollipop was buggy on my Galaxy S+ (Which I maintained xosp for at the time) I decided to take a break from development until I got my hands on the zenfone 2 which from there xosp development has continued ever since.

For resolving 1st problem, Try wiping cache and delvik cache in recovery and reboot.
For wallpaper thing, dont use xperia wallpapers instead use any other of your choice. This is a bug and has been noted by the developer.

Even i am facing the same issue. Dont know what the problem is. I tried nano as well as pico gapps and still faced the freeze after reboot. No issue occurs and everything works fine until i reboot.
Anyways thanks a lot for the amazing ROM. Lots of customization and loved the new Xperia Apps. I really want to use this ROM as i love the Xperia UI.
It would be really great @osas514 if you could give a solution for the freeze after reboot issue.
good rom nice and stable enough good battery backup even compared to cm 12.1 got 6 hours of screen on time thanks a lot for this great rom

I dont know whats the problem bt manny people faced stuck screen after reboot..i think its not recovery or gapps issue bcoz I had testing with different gapps and recovery.
Bt solution is here...
if u faced stuck homescreen after reboot.. reboot in recovery then wipe cache and dalvik then reboot.
That's it ur problem is solved.
Enjoy ur new XOSP rom.. thanks again @osas514 for awsm rom:good:

does the theme looks exactly the same as they look on offical CM13? I tried this and all other CM based roms and on every cm based rom themes look bit different and ugly. What i mean to say is they don't look perfect and exactly same as they should look. So switch back to cm13 again in few minutes. from every single cm based rom i installed.
Do u noticed that?
Using cm themer is a way to change any layer as in cm 13, but I noticed this rom is better in stability and battery life than the other custom roms without changing the kernel .
Make a backup of your rom , and give this rom a try if you want.

As i said, i already tried this rom and almost every rom available for the osprey. I have noticed that change in rom that is why i asked you about this. for me themes are also important and and except cm13 no other rom shows the exactly what it should be look. So i revert back cm13 backup all the time. Though i will try 1-2 updated rom this weekend .

Ok thanks... But i think its not the issue of ROM as it can be a issue of theme as well. Not sure. As on cm12.1 and other cm12.1 based rom themes were looking exactly same. but Cm13 has the different story. So may be it is due the themes itself?
RR and Candy Rom is my Favorite and due to this thing i am not able to use them and have to stick with cm13. Though best of luck for finding the issue.:good:

FAQ:
Q Does this ROM support Xposed?
A No, Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be disscused in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports while using it as Xposed can cause a lot of bugs.
Q Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A Use the version arm sdk 23.
Q Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A If I have one I will probably give it to you, don't ask for one though, it is very rude to do this.
Q Do I need to provide a log if I'm reporting a bug?
A If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a log.
Q I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A In TWRP go to Mounts & check System then go to the Advanced tab & use the File Manager to delete the bad Layers from system/vendor/overlays, or you can just delete the overlays folder.
Q Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A Yes, however make a nandroid first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs, also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q How do I get a logcat, and what type should I get, and more questions that can conviently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A Read this thoroughly.
Awesome

Bro, in loving this ROM, but I'm actually liking the brokenOS,, not sure why, I just like it. Both ROMs are super fast. One thing, the weather widget doesn't show my location, it's stuck on a preset location 5 miles down the road, no biggie, but a fix would be awesome, thanks for your hard work... Also I was never a big fan of layers, I'd always get some apps would show certain things black on black. I bought the spectrum theme and I'm loving the layer option.
Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Ok. For the weather, i took WeatherProvider.apk and cLock.apk from temasek cm13 just because i knew that one worked installed them in there respective places, then after an art and cache wipe, placed the cLock widget on my homescreen, and boom!!! Found my location!! I noticed yahoo weather has to be selected

Could you upload the two apk's somewhere? I could make a flashable zip that would install them. I'll also see if I can include them in the ROM by default.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_c2hdjSBKMAeXlJVlJoZ1J2T00/view?usp=docslist_api I did a clean install and tried to flash these right after the rom. But it didn't work..... it did work when I place them where they belong with a Root browser open up the zip and the apps are in their respective folders, place them there manually and it should work I did cache and Dalvik wipe also. You can't click on the clock app directly you have to place the widget on your home screen and adjust the weather settings from there. At least that's how i got it to work

The BrokenOS team doesn't allow any BrokenOS ROM threads to be on XDA, and XDA doesn't want them on it either because of a certain anti XDA wall that's in the ROM. Thanks though, you can also say thanks to the broken team in their Google plus community, we shouldn't discuss broken in this thread though.
Any luck on weather on your end

I never really use that feature to be honest, if I ever do want weather info I just use Google now. Unless if you're asking about the flashable zip, in which case: I am working on it.
Just seeing if it works on your device as well, i service swimming pools in vegas, it's nice to know when it's 115° in part of the town and then 120°in the other??

As a member of the BrokenOS team I am here to explain to you why @mosimchah can't and won't create a BrokenOS thread.
BrokenOS isn't on XDA for 3 reasons.
1. We like to handle users rougher than XDA will allow.
2. When we allowed unofficial threads on XDA they gave out misinformation about the ROM including but not excluding: ROM base, features, and apps.
3. Due to past issues and politics of XDA we include certain wallpapers which make XDA mods mad, so the ROM is banned until those wallpapers were removed. We refused to remove a part of the ROM to please a select group. This resulted in a ban of BrokenOS, until an annoying drama happen recently with an unofficial device maintainer decided to remove the wallpaper app causing issue with the ROM. So making history, our lead developer, Ken and senior mods made a mutual deal to get out of each other's hair and XDA agreed to remove all official and unofficial threads of BrokenOS so that we as a team would quit pestering them.
BrokenOS now restricts who can build BrokenOS and since @mosimchah is a friend he is allow to post unofficial builds in the broken community and only in the broken community.
