How does one update firmware??

Okay, I'm a Noob.
I just downloaded the new GG software update, but in order to view full notifications, apparently, one is also supposed to update the firmware.
How the heck do I do that??

How to manual update GEAR using Odin.
Press the GEAR power button until Rebooting wording appear.
Continue press until appear selection of Continue/Download/Recovery.
Select Download using power button.
Press the screen to go in Download mode.
Connect GEAR to PC Odin.
Select AP at PC Odin.
Attached the downloaded file from Sammobile, remember extract the download zip file. The end extension after extract is .tar.md5
Wait PC install the driver for GEAR.
Click Start at PC Odin for flashing the new firmware.

You will be fine as long as you follow the steps. :good:

When I hold the power button down on my gear it just keeps rebooting it never showed recovery mode and what Odin version are you using b/c I don't see AP in Odin to select it.

When you see the word reboot on it you have to tap the button quickly like 5 or 6 times and that'll take you to the options select recovery by pressing the button again and hold for 3 seconds no more no less it can be tricky.

I see the firmware d/l in this thread and will do that later on today. So can we use this update on the USA GG or is it region specific? Also how do we update the GG Manager software on my GN3? I cannot find the stupid Samsung App store on my GN3. Thanks again.

I have a Galaxy Gear watch from Sprint. It is currently on MII firmware. Am I able to update this even though the firmware is UK?

People say you can.
I am Canadian run MII too, but I think tonight I will go for the Null ROM.
Null ROM contains the latest UK build all notifications work.

Yes you can. I was on the same thing(got mine at best buy) and used the UK version which apply to all the US versions it does not matter if you get it from sprint or att it's the same. The update is a lot better.

I was thinking the same thing but just select the pda button and go from there that's what I did and it worked.

I just updated the rom to MK7. Will I also need to flash the kernel?

this is instruction how is work for me...
Update GEAR using Odin.
Press the GEAR power button and hold it.
when "Rebooting wording appear" release and press 3 or 4 times the button
when the GG screen show the menu "Download/Recovery"
Select "Download" using power button.
when "Download" option is selected.
press the Power button"for 3 seconds.
if everything is right ,the GG show A android Icon.
Connect GG to computer.
Open Odin and wait a few munites to install the driver for GEAR.
Select AP at Odin.
when you clic AP,will open A windows to selecc the version to install "new version uk"
the last step...."star"Now you can see on the GG how the new version is under instalation...just wait...after reboot is done.

Is there anyway I can root while on 4.2.2 MLG ? Or go back to mj5??

I think this should go to Q&A but the way I understand is you are on 4.4.2 right? Not 4.2.2 since note released on 4.3.
MJ5 baseband which means you are running custom rom. Cannot be stock.
If that's the case, you can do the MJ5 restore to go back to 4.3 but please post the pic of the about so we can confirm what rom you running.

The only OTA update you will get is Kitkat..if you do that there is no way back

To OP,
My suggestion is not to get the OTA but rather get the root and flash the custom KK that is close to stock. You will always have a choice there if you wanna mess around later. Once you go OTA, no way to go back and no root nothing. Don't make a jump unless you absolutely sure you can live with it. Read and research thoroughly. A lot of people want to go back from OTA and stuck with it.

Ok I got it.. now I'm getting stuck when updating. . It downloads, but when it in stalls. It says update failed. I've tried it like 5 times

What parts of the Factory image do I need to install for the stagefright fix?

Im on Tmobile and am rooted and with some custom stuff and can't flash the stage fright OTA so I want to flash the Factory image to not lose data. Would anybody know what I need to flash from the factory image to get me up to date? Would it be ok to flash everything except user data? Thanks in advance!

If your referring to a stock image, nexus. System.... Stage fright I a part of the base media and there's quite a few libraries. I believe there was some device ID changed.

And yes userdata isn't a partition that needs updating but..... Are you flashing the same system your on? Imagine your on a ROM, don't like it so you switch but keep data (don't want to lose anything), well your new ROM, be it factory based , aosp.. Won't be the same system. Therefore that data you kept will probably cause issues.

I just want change the last Tmobile build to the current Tmobile build.

You may be Ok. If its just an exploit fix. But you are gonna have to flash the firmware (boot loader , radio) if you want to change the build version. Don't need cache, boot, data).

Ok great. So just system, boot loader, radio is what's required to update and keep my data and settings and all? Would I be ok to or would it cause issues to just flash everything but user data or would that be unnecessary.

Only need boot loader/radio on a custom ROM. To updrade but on stock you want the system also. Cache, data are basically empty.

because Im not completely stock as I mentioned before. Im rooted and have a custom kernel... I flashed the system image so I should be good now.

You can still flash the firmware, it is just bootloader, radio? Your build number didn't change did it? I changed from D to Z on custom ROM using these.

It's not needed. System.img would be enough.
Build.number changes when updating the rom (system) nothing to do with radio or bootloader

I flahsed bootloader, radio, and system and went from E to J.
Did that just to be sure but all went well, I kept root and the customer kernel and all my data.

My phone stopped working suddenly on Android n

My phone wad running Android n since it's out.i got the ota ,and everything was perfect.yesterday ,aftet sending a message through WhatsApp, the phone shuted down, and won't boot anymore.no matter what i try the phone wont boot. All help will be appreciated. Im attaching a photo of the screen i see

there is a fix . google had an image to sideload that is supposed to unbrick your phone . google it

My recovery doesn't give me any option,like adb side load.i cant even enter recovery, that's my problem.

maybe google or moto can help you.
sorry to hear that bro. you should always always unlock and root and enable adb in developer options on your phone so these problems become far less of importance.
does jtag work on these phones? i knew mt s3 could be saved that way. maybe send it to someone i saw on ebay that it was pretty cheap like 60 bucks

How is the tool not working? What exactly are you getting when trying to flash image? Do you want to do a remote session? I can help you out.

How to downgrade from NRD90M to marshmallow???

Hello, i recently flash a Nougat 7.0 rom on my EVA-L19C185 and now i do not have any pre-installed apps like Camera, calculater etc....
Please help me find a solution, ive tried everything...
And my build num is showing NRD90M instead of B361
Please help me

You need to download this, extract it in dload folder and flash with 3 combo button or *#*#2846579#*#*, you will have all the missing apps and functions. Note: put all files in dload folder, not only update.app

Should i relock my bootloader before flashing?
Because ive already tried the second update via dload and it failed, what should I do???

You tried this in marshmallow or nougat? I think open bootloader with stock recovery should be fine, if you still with nougat. But if not, please relock your bootloader and flash again.

I flashed with dload with success, build number is correct, only problem the apps are still missing... No camera calculator etc

The update.app, a "data" folder and a another folder (i forgot the name)

i also noticed, when i first flash emui 5.0 with twrp, i had some errors about the cust, do you this it can cause this problem???

Ok, in nougat mode (without reverting back) make dirty flashes for these 2 packages. First for files from update.zip, you should put all the files in dload folder, not only update.app, like this;

Can u post yr homescreen snapshot here? Do u try to swipe your homescreen to 2nd page, 3rd page...

I am using nova prime as launcher... I confirm, there is no camera app, and Bluetooth is dead...

In 2nd zip, look in data folder and in product sub folder, can you find hwcamera.apk? If yes, can you extract it and install it as normal apk?

For bluetooth, I think its a bug, not working in my version too, L19C636B361

I had the same problem with you here what I did:
-Search for p9 l19 rollback package and dl it from the official site of huawei-flash it using dload method.Now you should be still on nougat but c900b***
-now get a c185 rom and flash it again with dload. Done.Back as you where,everything working
