Can you elaborate it more? What error came up, what command you gave. A screenshot would further help

If it is a carrier branded phone, maybe your carrier may allow SIM-unlocking it.

[Q] Cutsom ROM for Salsa(S-OFF Rooted)

Are there any custom ROMS for salsa which is rooted but S-oFF?>?
To install custom-ROMs you need S-Off or an unlocked Bootloader. What does your bootloader show (which version, s-on/s-off, **locked**/**unlocked**)?
Those ROMs come often with Root but sometimes you have to install Root access manually.

ROM's do not come with S-OFF, you make it S-OFF which isn't a good idea personally, i know this from experience. as i am S-OFF and have unlocked bootloader.
theschneidi is right check what u have first then respond
I have unlocked the bootloader from htcdev and installed Clockwork mod recovery and also rooted my phone but it is S-OFF so can I install any custom ROM on it??

NO because that would be infringing the XDA rules(Search function or check other Salsa rooms)., and YES I'm sure or we wouldn't be sitting here with a custom rom and huge internal space.
My HTC Salsa touchpad becomes insensitive. some keys doesnt work occasionally.

Being fair, i request you go back into our general section and search for it.
If you don't know what root is, i'd suggest you find out before venturing any further.
But to flash u have to unlock your bootloader, and then flash a recovery program. Lots of guides in the main sections, use search if lost.
The guides were made by me and designed/written so a kid can follow it. If you get stuck in some places i can help you. But if you haven't a clue, read first then attempt it.
I'm always around, so if your desperate PM me or Email me via my profile. I am on Hangouts(Talk) also using [email protected]

HTC Dev Unlock & Radio Updates

I'm contemplating unlocking my bootloader via HTC Dev Unlock and flashing a custom ROM. However, I'm wondering how I would go about updating my radios after doing this since my understanding of HTC Dev Unlock doesn't include the ability to flash radios.
Is there any way to do it other than backing up and flashing back to stock to accept the OTA?
Thanks!
You can just go s-off and flash a radio.

I understand that, but if I don't want to go S-Off (i.e. follow the rules), how does it work?
There is a program that I heard flashes radios called Flash Image GUI.
I have never tried it for radios because I always go s-off.
Maybe someone else can help you better.
I know it does flash kernels when you are s-on. I used to use it all the time on the LTE before they found an s-off fix.

Right, which HTC does not facilitate, so what's the point of allowing a bootloader unlock that makes your phone non-updateable?

Then what's the confusion? They facilitate unlocking the bootloader via their own tools, but doing so renders the device un-updateable without breaking their own rules and hacking the device to gain S-Off.
And that, I find quite stupid.

No. As stated in the OP, I was trying to get the answer to this question. Now I'm wishing I'd just kept my old GNex.
I sure hope I can get S-Off with the latest firmware....

don't see a problem going with htcdev. its safer. but even if you use another program, the "bootloader" will still show (tampered). there's a few tutorials how to removed this but not sure if available M8 mini

im not sure that the warranty will still be okay if we unlock it
plus the phone is from orange and it might not work

you will loose guarantee either way as the bootloader will show as tempered. More chance to keep it valid if you use the tools HTC provided.
Orange should work just fine. Just try...
On another note i sent 2 phones for repair to HTC "unlocked" and they never charge me for the repair.
yes, i was thinking of only gettin root and not unlocking bootloader

You can undo the root and unlocked bootloader, before you send it to HTC. If you cannot undo because you have too big problems with the phone (frozzen phone,...) they cannot controll it either.

yes you can undo and get back to full stock but hboot will show "Relocked" so they will know you mess with it.

2021 Unlock BootLoader for Free

I did a lot of research, and the only way to unlock the BootLoader for free is to use PotatoNV software. Just wanted to let you guys know, so that you dont waste your time.
Tested and it worked on P9 Lite and P20 Lite.
If you need a guide, i can make one.

Yes ! Its work on P9 Lite VNS-L21.
after use potatonv & unlock bootloader I get error " FAILED (remote: image verification error)" during installation TWRP in fastboot mode.
for fix this error , I unlock bootloader again with new bootloader code in fastboot.
type below command in fastboot :
fastboot oem unlock **************** (instead of * , type new bootloader code)

I WASTED MY time for that.Potatonv s****s because why need disassembly for that
