Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

New to XDA and can't really seem to find any information on Rooting and unlocking the bootloader for my Samsung Tab A 8 SM-T350. Would like to put custom recovery on it if possible. Any suggestions? Please and thanks.

I second this. I've had this sitting in my drawer for a few months and would like to tinker with it.

Right? Its a good tablet, it just is very limited With touch wiz and the bootloader being locked. I tried kingoroot and it got to 90% before staying at a halt.

There is no official forum section for this device but it looks like there is root and TWRP for the t350.

Guys there is no "unlock bootloader" in SM-T350. There is no such thing.
TWRP is the only custom recovery for SM-T350. No more than that.
There is a custom rom by the way.
There is a custom kernel.
There is a way to root it (system-less only)
There are so many possibilities.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 Smoky Titanium SM-T350 Marshmallow.
If you need help or the links. Respond BACK! I'll give you them.

My Galaxy Tab A is bricked. Can someone help me fix it? I have attempted some things, to no avail!

Send me link and solve cant mount sdcard problem in recovery mode

I flashed the patched boot img and it said it worked, now I am lost on the next step... all magisk manager says that I haven't done on the main app page is that magisk is not installed... confused.

Root SM-G900W8 on Android 5.1.1

Hi guys,
I have juat registered here which means I am new to this. Before I decided to post my question I was looking for answer but couldn't really find one.
I upgraded from S4 to S5 few days ago (Rogers) and the phone upgraded the software as soon as it connected to wifi so I am now on 5.1.1.
I found few apps to root my S5 without pc but they dont either work with my phobe or my software version.
I don't mibd rooting it via pc as long as I can keep both uaer data and some preinstalled apps untouched.
Can you please point me to how to do it step by step (if possible)?
Thank you in advance

I think this is what you're looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3107461
Thank you but it says "Root strategy unavailable", I tried it earlier and retroed now but same result.
Any other possible solutions please?
I don't mind if I have to do it through pc as long as I dont loae user data and pre-installed apps.
Thanks
Anybody? Please!
Hey dont know if you solved your problem yet but after extensive reading and tinckering i finally managed to root my s5 on telus running 5.1.1. For starters I can care less if i trip knox so its tripped but to be honest I wouldnt be able to tell you if its from me installing different roms on my phone. Anyways this is how I did it on my phone. ( Credit is given to every dev that created thes apps and I in no way claim to have come up with it on my own).
1 Using Odin flash twrp
(Dl newest version of odin. Connect your phone in download mode ( down home power))
2 Download twrp or any other custom recovery
3 Open Odin select AP find the custom recovery file push start.
4 Download the newest version of supersu which can be found anywhere on xda. It has to be 2.67 or it will not work. And place the zip on your sdcard.
5 Reboot into custom recovery click install find the supersu and install it.
6 Reboot phone when asked if you want to install supersu do not do it upon reboot.
And there yah go root access.
Donno if that helps but it seems to work for me. SM-G900W8

It would work for you. You have a Canadian version which isn't bootloader locked like ours is.

SM-T350 (Wifi) US Firmware

I have been looking for 3 days now for the US firmware for the SM-T550NZASXAR (might be the same as SM-T550NZAAXAR) and I can't find it. Sam mobile has the files for many countries but fails to show the US version. Am I missing something?
The digitizer keeps losing the touch sensing ability but I'm pretty sure it's a software problem as it comes back after maybe 15 minutes then it stops again after about 20 minutes of use. I want to try and re-install the OS with Oden and see if it clears whatever is going on. I'm hoping it's just bad cache or something.
The Canadian version is usually the same but double check just in case

Same Issue. I been also looking for US firmware for my SM-T350 Samsung Galaxy Tab A. I see it available for all other countries but not for USA. For all people that live in the US like me. We need to all nag Samsung & complain cause obviously they only support it for all other countries & not US. It pisses me off & it's so unfair. I need the firmware for part of the procedure to fix my rooted tab that's in bootloop
Upset with T-350 firmware situation
I've experienced the same disatisfaction with the non-availability of firmware. I'm also having trouble finding TWRP dedicated for this, kingrooted, device (sm-t350). Any insight? I've read the xda thread on compiling twrp on my own but I'm thinking that's still a bit over my head. I bought multiple cool apps since rooting my device only to find out I need twrp (or cwm) to make use of what these app have to offer.
Thx

twrp for SM-T350 is file name twrp-28.71-t350.tar
I can't link or i would link you it. Just google search that file name and there is one from android file host
Flash with Odin 3.10.7
Tested and works perfect

WOW! i have been messing with this for hours and cant believe that the samsung smart switch offered such an easy solution.
i made the mistake of flashing a rooted firmware file before unlocking the bootloader and soft bricked it. the smartswitch asks for the model# (SM-T350) and the serial number (no, im not putting mine here), tells you to enter odin mode and then it does all of the dirty work for you... amazing!
one thing to keep in mind is that the install for smart switch will not work on newer machines unless you install legacy software that you can find here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5582

I realize this is an old thread, but looking for help. Purchased a Wifi-only Galaxy Tab A, and looking for the stock 6.0.1 ROM. The Smart Switch software doesn't downgrade it anymore. They've since updated the software to remove that capability, but even older versions still reapply Nougat. Sammobile.com doesn't seem to have it. Has anyone had success finding the stock MM US ROM for this tablet? If you're asking why, adb restore doesn't work on Nougat and I'm trying to restore backups without root. I have a second SM-T350 fresh out of the box, and restore is working. So, want to downgrade to official MM to restore, then maybe upgrade again if I feel like it....
Edit: Embarrassingly, it's in this same forum.... Download it now...I'll see myself out....

Root Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850?

Hello XDA,
I just purchased a new Acer Iconia One 8 B1-850 and was wondering if I could root it.
I see many posts on B1-810 and similar, but nothing for the B1-850.

i want to root to enable the multi user option by updating the build.prop file, i've been able to connect with ADB but the device isn't visible in windows or mac (tried both) when you reboot into boot loader, in fact it doesn't appear to boot into boot loader it just seems to power off (when using ADB reboot command or choosing boot loader from the recovery menu) so i wonder if its locked out somehow??
Need it too. Did anyone find a way to root B1-850?
Thanks!

I too just purchased a B1-850 tablet, but I've figured out how to root it. Really quite simple. Just use Kingroot:
1.) Navigate to https://kingroot.net/ from your tablet
2.) Download the APK for android
3.) Install said APK (this requires you to have allowed installation from unkown sources in the "Security" panel of the settings menu)
4.) Load up the app and follow its instructions
5.) Reboot and try it out
For good measure, I would also unlock the "Developer Options" panel and allow USB debugging (adb access) and such; I did this before proceeding. You'll have to search for instructions on that yourself, its well documented.
This all worked for me this morning! Really looking forward to unlocking the potential of this cheapy tablet.
Kingroot worked first try, just swap their super user program with supersu. I am having trouble installing the xposed framework though if anyone has any tips.
I was able to root, now I need to install a custom recovery. CWM says this model is not in the supported list. Has anyone been able to install a recovery? I need NANDROID backup functionality.
I made a thread walking you through how to do it on this tablet in the guides area but just use flash fire for recovery and xposed install
Did the B1-850 hardware updated in anyway? I was able to root it in June 2016, but after a screen repair and factory reset and fresh rom from acer, king root and all others can't work. I'm stuck without any root options. Any idea?

There was recently new firmware released for this tablet (08/24/16, Build #: AV0L0.RV09RC04.WW.GEN1), and a handful of updates (08/25/16, 08/26/16) from Acer. I have this same tablet, and I'm unable to root after flashing to the firmware released on the 24th, and latest firmware (Build #: AV0L0.RV0BRC02.WW.GEN1) as well. Hopefully someone can find a fix, as the few different methods I've attempted simply will not work with the latest firmware from Acer.
On KingRoot Please click submit search if enough people do they will find a root until then just hold tight.

I have done this a bunch, sadly still no love. It's annoying me not being able to root a relatively cheaper tablet, as these tend to get rooted first since they get in more people's hands faster. Oh well, just have to have patience.
Thanks, I was having problems, two different rooters failed and I wondered if it was the recent software update! The image version on my B1-850 is the same as you have quoted! Please post if you find a solution, some apps that need deleting are annoying.

Which recovery do you install with flash fire; I don't see a link to it in your other thread?
Success!
The latest release of KingRoot is able to root the latest firmware for this tablet. I saw there was a new release of KingRoot back on the 23rd, and it's working as it should. I grabbed the working version here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=21707
hi guys. any idea how to recover b1-850 from bootloop?
I no its a little late but i rooted mine with the kingoroot one click root apk. Ive installed xposed framework and customized like crazy everything from fonts to boot animation. Cant find a custom recovery tho.
I cannot root it with any of the tools I have tried (Kingo ROOT, KingRoot, etc). Anyone know any method that works?
Acer B1-850. Is this device even rootable?
This device has made an idiot of me. If I can be of any assistance finding a root exploit for this device let me know. I will gladly write a detailed procedure of the process. I made the mistake of assuming since it was an entry level, inexpensive device, the path to root would be simple. Three months later none of the common "one-click" programs has found an exploit. I have a copy of stock rom for recovery so testing is not a problem for me. It's a matter of pride at this point. So much so I found one on sale for $60 and bought it just for this purpose. I have followed every link I can find associated with this device to a dead end. Any help will be appreciated.

Same here, still no root for me. Usually these cheapo tablets are not as locked down.
Still waiting!?
I have given up getting assistance from xda on this device. Its as political here as anywhere else. I don't drive a Samsung so nobody wants to help with root. I've heard every excuse from locked bootloader (unlockable in dev options) to what one dev actually told me,"There's little interest in spending energy on an inexpensive device." I understand, but why misrepresent the site by implying all android devices are treated the same? Hell on the Iconia One 8 thread, it says that the B1-850 does not have a MTK SoC, but instead has an Intel Atom chip. Then they send you to another thread where, of course, there is no B1-850 listed! That's because it uses a MTK8163 SoC. In both tablets.

Is rooting and recovery process similar to OnePlus 3

Is the rooting process and flashing a custom recovery similar to that of OnePlus 3. If not how do I root and flash TWRP on OnePlus 3T
The process itself should be the same, but the question at the moment is whether the recovery and ROM are cross compatible. Since most people here won't get their hand on it until at least tomorrow or next Monday/Tuesday, I think it's a mute point to speculate at this point.
Well don't hold the device as of yet but I suppose so, once we have a TWRP recovery (OP3 version may be compatible). Step's probably be unlock the bootloader, boot into fast boot flash recovery.img then boot into recovery (backup optional) and flash SuperSU. I see there is a tool to do this on the OP3 forum so not sure if it will work on the T.
New root and new recovery
Got my OP3T earlier today, is there a way to root it yet? All I want is to be able to change the DPI.

Don't want to be rude here but the one plus 3t forum isn't huge yet. I'm sure 5 mins of reading the various threads you'll be able to find it
My bad! I got confused between this app and the OnePlus forums where there are not many threads, not to mention a guide.

Attempted UnRooting and seems SoftBricked

I recently pulled my old Note 3 out of the drawer to do some misc tweaks, and think i screwed it all up...LMFAO!!!
Quick specs of phone...
Samsung Galaxy Note III (AT&T SM-N900A) 64gb (yes, i said 64gb and not 32gb)...but NOT why I am posting, so please don't even comment about it.
Steps that led to where I am...
First off I will say the device was originally rooted 4.3 back in 2013, and never updated since. Today I decided I wanted to update the phone to the last OS that worked perfect for a root, no i didn't just update it. I followed SuperSU's & TWRP instructions on first bringing the phone back to stock, didn't work and left me in recovery mode. Again, doubtful but may have been caused by me. So I was left with a wipe/restore because every time I attempted recovery via OneClickBin it would fail. After wipe/restore I was able to reinstall SuperSU and device was still rooted, obviously. So I attempted to completely remove root through SuperSU and it just kept getting stuck on spinning wheel. So then I attempted to reinstall TWRP and now I am stuck at the screen shown below in screen shots. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance, regarding this matter.

Oh yeah...and I'm a total and permanent disabled Veteran who doesn't have the ability to "go to AT&T store". So lets please try to fix this without going anywhere. Thanks again in advance.

If the phone doesn't have a locked bootloader, you can try flashing back to stock with Odin and then run ota updates until the phone is running the latest stock ROM.
AT&T variant have a locked bootloader. You can't use TWRP or any other custom recovery.
Please follow this guide to fix your softbrick, root and update.
