Just want to confirm - who's using a screen protector (glass/non-glass) AND a case? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

Just want to know. I have a spigen Rugged armor case that i have on right now.
I bought spigen curved crystal film and i tried to put it on but i failed so it's in the trash right now.
So right now i have a choice to just use the case and just leave it be or go to the mall and apply a zagg screen or something or buy another screen protector online.
my only concern is: i heard a lot of people say that screen protectors are not compatible with cases, so it's either one. And with the S7 edge having a "glass back" i figured a case will be more important?
Can anyone confirm? I see a lot of recommendations for cases and protectors but none of them are "in combination of" so yea.. thanks!

It's not a black and white answer.
There are slim fitting cases such as the Spigen Thin Fit, Ringke Slim, Samsung LED wallet case (note: latter I'm not sure of with TGSP, fine with TPU/PET film) which don't encroach too much on to the edges and screen area. These type of cases will work happily alongside 99% of all TGSP and traditional TPU/PET film protectors.
The more rugged cases, the type which lip round on to the screen and/or edges, these will lift or crack 99% of all TGSP or TPU/PET protectors in varying degrees of severity.
Lastly, there are a number of brands (Best Skins Ever for example) offering "case friendly" protectors. At present they're limited to TPU/PET. I've yet to see a case friendly TGSP marketed as such. These case friendly ones, whilst cannot guarantee 100% compatibility, will work with the majority of cases whether rugged or slim.
So there's your answer.

I am using the Armor Suit MilitaryShield "case cut" wet apply screen protector. I am a bit of a case junky and have 13+ cases for my S7E. The screen protector is compatible with all of the cases I own. I would prefer a tempered glass screen protector but that is largely an exercise in futility for this phone.
If you wish to achieve maximum compatibility with cases, I would recommend one that is case cut.

I'm using front and rear protectors (from Best Skins Ever) with the official LED case. No issues.
Edit: I take that back. The two bottom plastic corners of the case show fracture cracks after just 3 days. Brutal.

I am use glass protector for s7 edge.

Have a Nacodex tpu film (like hori protector for handheld gaming systems) and otterbox symmetry case. My girl has the same protector and has the otterbox strada case. The only protector that has lasted with these cases. Also put cheap xtreme guard protector on back. I wish someone would make a clip holster(seidio)

can you post pictures? and how hard is it to apply without bubbles?

I got a new edge and had to remove my old protector. This new one I have won't lay down like my first one causing all types of bubbles. All just have to reapply another but to lazy.

This armorsuit, thus it attract lint at the edge? Used IQshield case friendly version, but it attract too much lint. How's the fingerprints resistant coating?
Now using spigen curved HD but it's easily get scratched.

Fingerprint resistance is better than most film screen protectors. Quite easy to wipe clean as well.
Lint resistance is fairly difficult to provide commentary on - I tend not to tolerate that type of thing and keep the channels between the screen and edges of whichever case I may be using (and my pockets) as clean as possible.
I will say that this screen protector dents and scratches easily, but then heals itself after a day or two. I was worried at first but then the marks gradually disappeared.
Appearance - glare is apparent and a very mild amount of orange peel. It is certainly better than Zagg. Clarity and colour reproduction is excellent.
Scroll feel is 7.8/10 verses having no screen protector. This is a necessary evil for wet screen protectors. There is a miniscule slight amount of finger drag when gliding over it.
Ease of Application - to adhere properly, you really must force yourself not to use it for awhile. I am lucky in that I have other devices I could use while the screen protector was drying. I let it dry a full 24 hours before placing it into a case. The drying time is very important for the edges to adhere properly.

I have been using a $10 glass protector on my S7E for exactly a month now with the Unicorn Beettle case with one single issue.
There is a grid like pattern on the glass that is only noticeable on the Gear VR, but not at all with normal use.
My guess would be that this is somehow to keep the screen sensitivity.
I was afraid that the case would fracture the glass protector but that has not been the issue.
They work great together.

Which one is it? link?

That's the exact same case I have. I'll check that protector out as I haven't seen anyone else post saying they have a glass protector with a case like ours. Glad to see it hasn't broken since it's sandwiched.

I'm using Spigen Thin Fit case together with IQShield Liquid Skin, fits well

I have a ArmorSuit full-coverage screen protector on. I also gave it a good 12 hours before use and 24 hours before en-casing.
It has fit well with the Ringke Fusion, Obliq Naked Shield, and Ghostek cases. I currently have the Ghostek on.
The Ghostek edges overlapped a bit on the top/bottom, I used a business card to smooth down the ArmorSuit under the edges and have no creep. I no gaps between the screen protector and the Ghostek case.

I'll try to post some pics later.

I'm personally debating beetle pro full or beetle pro hybrid.. i'd like the edge protection.. i wish it had a kick stand as well.. i guess with hybrid if i go with gear vr it is easier to take off.. rumor is, though, if you cut off the two rubber bumpers on gear vr, a case (or maybe just a screen protector) will somehow fit?
The beetle pro full is apparently very hard to remove in a hurry. The hybrid lacks the edge protection.
I've already tried one tempered glass protector on amazon and it falls off or lacks sensitivity unfortunately.. seems they all have this issue.. now i'm trying to find a 100% working alternative or maybe regular type that also is good sensitivity.. 100% is probably impossible with this phone.
This Roya with kickstand case i initially got.. but its far too slippery and is falling off at times.. i'm guessing the beetle pro is the answer (full one) and just deal with it later with VR.

Mime feather is very good but the edges might chip a little is you hit them, it repels finger prints very well and leaves no bubbles or lifted edges. But the best part is that it feels smother than the devices glass and has perfect clarity. Great company with great warranty and service. http://mimeusa.com/product/htc-one-m8-feather-glass-screen-protector/
I have always went with iloome products. Never had a problem. http://www.iloome.com/HTC-One-Screen-Protector-Tempered/dp/B00JAKDL52

Would advise against the Mime Feather. Chips and scratches far too easily.
I've spent a lot of time in the screen protector thread on here and been through several tempered glass protectors myself including both Mime Ghost and Feather and in all honesty the best one I've found, and many agree, is the Nillkin one. Added bonus it comes with camera protectors too.
That said, I'm currently waiting on GLASS-M which is a 0.15mm offering similar to the Feather from Mime. Hoping that is a good product as I really want a 0.15mm protector for when I want to use the Dot View case as regular 0.33mm ones are too thick.

I usually ignore posts like mine but.... I have the Nillkin Tempered Glass screen protector with rounded edges and its sublime. It comes securely packaged in a nice box which contains a plethora of wipes and anti static films which ensure a flawless installation, it was easy for me with the hinge method and I didn`t get any of the cobweb effects or poor adhesive issues as some people have reported. The glass is very smooth with an oleophobic coating. It is much smoother than the stock glass and whilst it still gets fingerprints it`s really easy to wipe them off usually with a single swipe. Overall I can`t say enough good things about it since it was just over $10 aud shipped. I will stress that I haven`t tried any other brands, but I can`t imagine them being better to the extent that they warrant the 3x price difference, support and free replacements may be the only benefit and again that`s not a given. 10/10 for me, excellent packaging, smooth installation, great product and no defects/chipping corners, etc.

It is in my experience, with not only the Feather but the Ghost. If you search through:

You'll find others who have had similar issues too.
I wouldn't touch MIME ever again. Not when you consider the higher premium price you pay, you'd expect superior quality. But that just isn't the case.

I use xtremegaurd, it's $6 with an 85% off coupon, works good, cheap as hell, and honestly just as good as the others but it's a TAD bit thicker and smudges a bit. But if you just want glass, go with xtremegaurd. You won't be disappointed

Best PET Film Screen Protector for N5...

Yup - not tempered glass, but PET film. It seems that everyone is interested in glass, and in turn, endless amounts of discussion on issues with glass protectors for the N5. I've used PET film a couple of times in the past few weeks of N5 ownership, in between installations of glass protectors. Each time, the PET film was a joy to go back to, for me. I was wondering which brands of film members have tried and what their results were.
For those who are wondering why the hell would anyone even consider using old-school film, here are the Pros/Cons of film protectors as I see them:
Pros:
- Little/no halo: If we were all installing only film protectors on the N5, we would have, by now, settled on a bunch of brands that get really good results for just about everyone. I've seen this evolution happen with a number of new phones. There's no such consensus on glass protectors for the N5.
- Easier install: if you have at least average skills, you are going to get a good, easy and quick install. Don't need to dedicate time to rubbing out edges that are standing up off the screen, and no need to break out the hair dryer.
- Less visible: really hard to tell that there is a protector on the N5.
- Cost: Film is less expensive, but glass has really come down in price as well.
Cons:
- Less protection: Hey, glass is stronger and harder than film, I get that.
- Not as smooth as glass: although film can be very good, glass is just smoother.
In my experience, it's not until I put a film protector on that I say "Damn, that looks great!" Often I can see a glass protector on a phone at a distance. If it's not the halo it's the edges top and bottom just looking like a protector stuck on the display.
So, I am not starting a case for glass vs film, I just would like to know what film you folks have used on the N5. I use Spigen film and the first install had the tiniest amount of halo above the earpiece (I don't think there should be protector in that area), but everything else was spot-on perfect. The second film is spot-on perfect all around. I have another brand in-bound as we speak.
I bought this 3 and will be able to provide some feedback in ~2 weeks ))

Cool.
I recall someone here saying that they use that brand with good results.
Over at Android Central, a number of N5 owners are now discovering the advantages of PET film.
Hey, it all depends on what you want.
I am still rocking the Spigen film. I'd say it looks perfect, but you really have to look closely to see any evidence of a protector.

I have the ones from iCarez and they don't cover past the light sensors on top which leaves an exposed area, same goes to the bottom where the home key is, but not as much.
I would also like feedback on the Pleson ones especially if they play well with a TPU Hybrid case.
Spigen and it's pretty awesome. Can't even tell it's on both by looks and feel.

No halo on my second install. PET film is far more forgivable b/c it can easily follow the curve on the display edges. That's a major advantage for those of us who want their N5 to look great - as it was designed to do. For me, glass protectors always appear to be less-than-great looking layers of glass stuck on the front of an elegantly-designed N5. So, for now, I am happily rocking a film protector.
I purchased another brand of film protectors, but I am going to hold-off on trying them out. The Spigen is just too perfect to pull-off.
I use a Ringke Slim case that does not interfere with the film at all. I had a more robust Spigen Hybrid case on with the first Spigen film I had installed, and the case would flex inwards occasionally when pressing the power button, lifting it up momentarily, but then it would just lay back down. The Ringke case is particularly good for use with full-size protectors.

Have you noticed the fingerprint scanner being any slower to unlock the device since installing the Spigen screen protector? I just installed mine last night and maybe I'm crazy.. But it just seems a lite bit slower than when I had no screen protector. Maybe I'm crazy! Lol.

Nope - haven't noticed that at all. Since the protector doesn't go near where the fingerprint detection is going on, I can't imagine how it could interfere.
There's lots of voodoo that's happening with the fingerprint reader that sometimes makes it perfectly accurate, other times less so. Plus, there are the variables involved when you ask a user to configure/set-up complex hardware. I'd look elsewhere.

Did you do anything special when you put it on the second time ? Just installed the Spigen Crystal for the first time on my N5 and there's a halo at the top, continuing a little bit down the sides

$6 for six screen protectors - done deal.
I got these first and didn't use them. I was provided a few glass protectors to test. Halo after Halo on the glass, finally I broke these out and opened them. Easy install, no real complaints. I didn't miss the feel of these, but it works with the pen well. Currently have mine, my wife and my moms phone protected with these - and three to spare :highfive:

Have you tried the hinge method? Always works for me.
I like the appearance of PET screen protectors, but compared to glass, they scratch pretty easily. On the first day, I had 2 deep scratches just by cleaning the screen with a microfiber. Also, the oleophobic coating can't hold a candle to glass, constantly wiping my screen. I'm using the Spigen Crystal btw. I like how on regular screen protectors, you can reinstall and get rid of dust if it gets stuck under though.

Cases with raised edges?

Has anyone found any cases with raised edges yet?
Any ideas yet? I don't just mean raised top and bottom bezel like most cases have it. I call most cases back covers, nothing more. Totally unprotective of screen edges.
The Zizo Bolt is pretty raised up. It's what I'm using and is well made.

It's definitely slim compared to an otterbox, plus it has a built in kick stand. Had my s7 edge in this exact case for a year and it protected it against literally a hundred drops onto concrete. I'm rough on my stuff and it held up amazingly. They have a ton of colors too. This is their best case but buy it on Amazon so it's cheaper. Still loving the glass protector that came with it free by the way. Feels like there's nothing on it.
If you go this route, put it in the case first then use the case to help align the protector. Works better.
Also, I used a skinomi full body wrap before going into the case. Keep the phone like new!

I used that case on one of my previous iPhones and it was an amazing case. But it sometimes felt like a pain to remove, Not sure if they fixed the issues by now since that was back in iPhone 6s Plus days.

Thanks. But it is just not to my taste. It looks like something you would need a gun licence for .
Any further ideas? Why are these so hard to find?
Tried the Incipio dual pro. As with Presidio Grip, the case edge still sits about a milimeter bellow the screen.
Currently using Caseology Legion for my note8 and can be happier. Fits better than spigen tough armor or the dual pro.
Comes in a few colors... Are you taking about the sides of the phone being raised or just the top and bottom? The lip on the top and bottom on this case is enough to keep the screen off the surface you place it down on

If you're in the UK, try this one, relatively cheap, good protection and grip without adding too much bulk.
I guess the reason that they don't make cases with higher raised sides is because it would interfere with the use of the 'Edge Handle'.

I have a feelkng that sits even lower on the edge screen than with others I mentioned.
I can recommend Encased Rebel. At least the side edge raises as high as the edge screen. Doesn't sit below.
Any other (good) ones?

Currently using this as well and was pleasantly surprised by the height of the side edges. They sit higher than the side edges of both the Spigen Tough Armor and the UAG Plasma, and I think if they went any higher they'd make edge functionality difficult to use.
OP. Did you manage to find anything with raised left and right edges? When placing a straight edge on some of my cases ( steel ruler ) the ruler is resting on the glass. Sure the top and bottom is raised. But not sides.

Nothing better than Encased Rebel. There are some cheap Chinese cases with raised edges, but they are filmsy and dirt magnets. Not a good protection at all. How about you?

None to be honest. I primarily use a wallet type case. But the few cases that I did buy , I found the Caseology to have a slight raised lip on the sides. Disliked the case however as it was very hard and sharp around the edges to hold.

Giving up on glass. Help me get wet.

As much as I prefer tempered glass, I've given up on my search for a TG protector that fits, looks and feels right.
That being said, I'm now on the hunt for a wet application screen protector that offers the closest thing to edge-to-edge coverage as possible. I use an Elago case when I'm out and no case as all when home, so case-friendly is of no benefit to me.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations, shared personal experiences and pictures (if any)!

The problem with the wet ones is the pen leaves marked and not smooth
I have had the Spigen and the Skinomi. The Spigen one is very thick and always has an orange peel look to is. I have had the Skinomi V1 which fits with most cases and now have the Skinomi V2 which is more edge to edge. The Skinomi 'heals' a lot faster than the Spigen - yes it leaves pen marks but use the black tip and just wait a few, they do go away. The Skinomi is thinner and is very smooth so it doesn't have that orange peel look.
The V2 only fits with minimal cases, I have a Pitaka and it fits perfectly edge to edge of the glass. I had a Skinomi on my Note 7 and loved it, the only reason I started with the Spigen is that the Skinomi wasn't available at the time. At 2 for $7 on Amazon, it's hard to beat. Easy to apply and I do them super wet to allow for the best alignment. Added bonus, they do hide minor chips and cracks very well.
Skinomi V2 for Note 8 (excuse the pocket dust). I tried to show the most extreme angles and worst aspects, looking straight on it's perfectly clear.

very happy with my screen protector from tech21.
I have used Armoursuit wet protector on my s7 edge and this Note 8....perfect install both times....never peeled up from edge...covers sides...and will work with case friendly...I have used pen and no marks on screen so far
Watch install video and use hair dryer to assist.
No other reason for me to get anything else..
Good luck
Had good luck with the Skinomi so far , works good with s pen. Just ordered an Armorsuit to try them out as well. Have used Armorsuit in the past with good results as well.

Does any one know if the IQ shield interfere with the samsung clearview official stand/case ?

I see you have that bad ass case on. mine is coming in monday I can not wait. Also I am getting the car mount with it.
Did anyone try the Armorsuite full body protector? Can you wonder around with it only and no cases?
After trying a lot of protectors and losing too much money. Nillkin TG is perfect in covering the whole screen with angles, it has black edges, compatible with all cases and the most important thing is that the sensitivity to touch is outstanding!

I gave up on glass screen protectors with curved screens. I can't stand the lip it leaves on the edges. Especially since I use multiple apps that I have to swipe from the edge. I have been using the Nano liquid screen protectors and don't have any scratches. Now I know it will not help if I drop my phone on its face. But something you just have to deal with. I did see this one called from simply carbon it's a flexible screen protector that you can hit with a hammer and it will not break. Has anyone tried one of these?
I put the Skinomi 2 on last night
I've never done a wet-application screen protector before and it was surprisingly easy. Today the bubbles are all gone except for one little dust spec that doesn't bother me. It works well with my new Spigen Tough Armor case. I'm happy with this combo

I just looked up the Simply Carbon Fiber screen protectors. Looks interesting. I just wonder if they are soft and the S-Pen will leave leave marks or not. They also don't look to be case friendly.

Any Full Body Cases With Built-In Screen Protectors (With Good Responsiveness)?

Are there any full body cases, which offer good protection, with built-in screen protectors that don't negatively effect the screen's responsiveness?
I currently have the i-Blason Ares case. And, while I like the case, and its slimness, the built-in screen protector makes the phone very difficult to use.
Thank you.

I'd have to disagree with this, the responsiveness for me with the Beetle was pretty bad especially when using the keyboard towards the middle of the screen. On the sides of the curved screen the case fit much more "tight" and seemed great but towards the middle it was horrible. I became annoyed with it within 24 hours and popped it out and installed the Skinomi wet install (case friendly) protector which fits great with the Beetle.

Note: This has a Plastic Screen Protector with the Dot Matrix just like most of the Tempered Glass Screen protectors for the Note 8.
I, on the other use an X-Doria Defense Case (Carbon Fiber look case) + this so-so Tempered glass screen protector with the notch. I am somewhat regretting my decision.
Do most of the built in screen protectors suffer with dust ect getting underneath the protector?
I've tried both wet and glass with my spiegen tough Amor case and not happy with anything so looking at maybe getting something like this in the op
You can also try Poetic Guardian. Front cover has protective film (strong one, but not a glass or plastic strong). I was fairly surprised with how responsive it is. Just a minor loss at the bottom, really nothing to much.

Just got the poetic revolution just question has anyone applied a full cover glass screen protector and pipped the one that come with the case off as it's kind of rubbish
Main question is would the from of the case still fit on?
Anyone have first hand/personal experience with the i-blason magma case and can vouch for its sensitivity with and without s pen use? Thanks
I use a poetic guardian but I removed the plastic screen protector as I found it was more difficult to use the screen.
I used to have one of the full screen glass protectors on but I found they were not always sticking on correctly.
So now I use both. The guardian with the plastic screen removed sits over the glass screen with the added bonus of keeping it fixed as the case front covers some of the protector at the top and bottom so keeps it held down.
So far out of all I have used this is by far the best option and even poetic themselves suggested this.

I found it best to get the protector with the black surround as it does still look part of the case and its much easier to line it up
When you remove the original terrible screen protector from the case just make sure that you get all of the adhesive off (it just pulls off easily)
Hope this helps

Well finally fitted and a lot better now then the fitted screen protector feels nice to be touching glass again only thing is the protector I bought seems to be poor quality I'll wait till after Christmas and look at buying a better one
But after owning the s8 plus and now the note 8 and around 20 screen protectors including the whitestone I think this is up to now the best option
Do miss my spigen tough Amor but this is the best option up to now
