Problem with my SIII Mini (GT-I8190) booting up - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.. I have a problem with my phone here's the story of what happened & what I have done so far:
I was using my phone normally and it suddenly turned off at around 30% battery (my battery is in a pretty bad state and I do know I have to replace it) but after leaving the phone charging for a bit and then turning it on it goes to the initial logo that says 'Samsung GALAXY S III Mini" and the phone doesn't go past it, it restarts infinitely and won't go past the inital logo, not even to the part where it shows up an animated blue samsung logo, I've tried infinite times doing volume-up + home button + power button and it doesn't go to the system recovery mode, it just doesn't go past the samsung SIII logo, so I've tried installing 3 different firmwares that are supposed to work through odin (Yes, the phone does boot to download mode with odin once you press volume down + home + power, but not recovery) and all of them have the same problem, it gets to the initial logo and restart infinitely, I haven't messed with the odin options (so the default 2 have always been checked), don't know what they do and every place I check out says to not mess with these options so I haven't touched them yet, anyways, today I went to a local store and informed about my problem with the phone, they tried a new battery (just for test, didn't buy) and the phone still has the same problem, they told me I can leave it there and that they'll fix it within 1 day but I don't have the money for it right now... so that's about all I've done thus far.. what do you guys recommend me to do?
Im a newb about this stuff on installing OS/Firmware/whatever on mobile devices (never done this stuff before, only doing this because my phone has this problem) so if you're gonna tell me something please include some steps on what I should be doing!
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Urgent Help needed !!! Galaxy Note (stock - no root no custom fw) not working

I had just installed the latest ics fw on my note previously running gingerbread and never had a problem. After i downloaded the 316mb update( approx size, don't remember the actual size) and installed it the phone was on the packet installation screen with a bar on the bottom. The bar filled up in half an hour and i kept waiting for another hour but nothing happened. After that i shut down my phone and restarted it again. It showed up the galaxy note n-7000 screen and then the android bot with diamond on the screen for a couple of seconds and then the screen turned black. Then i took out the battery and tried to restart the phone again but to no avail. All it shows is the galaxy note screen and then a black screen. I have never modded my phone and it was absolutely stock. What is wrong with this phone, and any chance i could fix it up myself rather than going to the service center because i am out of city for a month and need my phone for work real bad. Thanks in advance for any help provided.
PS : Tried the home button + volume down button and power button trick that does bring me to a caution screen of installing custom OS.
PSS : And now when i start up the phone with charger plugged in it just keep displaying the battery on the screen.

how u are using three button technique. first press volume up then home button and then power button all one by one as mentioned in the same order then just hold three till u reach boot menu.
^
Tried it again thrice again exactly in the same order you asked to but same thing happens. The galaxy note n-7000 screen flashes twice and then the android bot with blue ball/diamond for couple of seconds and the screen goes blank.
Though i can access the download menu by pressing volume down + home button + power button
try instal new rom using odin and download menu.....have u tried the same by removing battery also.
What Rom where you on before this problem happened? Were you rooted?
Best to follow this to the letter
Go into download mode.
Pc odin stock rom from www.sammobile.com for your countries phone with pit file for your phone.
Exact way is in dr Ketans thread in sticky section of development.
Do not do factory reset or wipe data on ICS period

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4G (SGH-T679) Can't Boot

My Galaxy Exhibit II 4G is about a year old, rooted and i have CM11 installed. Everything was fine, I had it plugged in (charging) and i was downloading an app (Camscanner) from the Mobogenie store when suddenly the phone shut off and the battery icon appeared with the loading circle in the middle.
This did not stay on for long as the screen would go off and this would again appear. After pulling the battery and removing the charger, then reinserting the battery, the phone would just flash the SAMSUNG logo in this very same manner.
I am unable to get into either recovery or download modes and when i try this combination (VOL UP + VOL DWN) i get:
RAMDUMP MODE
Cause: Force Upload
I have been reading forums for hours and i have found nothing. Is my device bricked? What can I do to recover it? Please, any help would be greatly appreciated :crying:
What happens if you try vol. up + power, or vol. down + power?

Thanks for replying. Nothing happens. It just continues to reboot like I'm not doing anything. The only way I'll get a reaction out of it is with vol up + vol down
It can be tricky. This post may be clear http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32437850&postcount=6
The link you sent me to sounds similar to my problem, except I wasn't trying to update the firmware. The crash was spontaneous.
However, neither of those methods work. As soon as I put in the battery the SAMSUNG logo appears, then disappears and reappears and it continues like that... Pressing the power button does nothing, whether by itself or with the volume up/down button
I am beginning to panic
What happens when it's connected to power?

Anyway, after many hours of investigation I discovered it was a hardware problem. The power button was stuck and so it forced it to reboot repeatedly. It also explains why it (the power button) was unresponsive. Disassembling the phone and freeing up the power button solved the problem.
P.s. Your build of CM11 is boss
I have same problem with power button. Had to tweak it hard cause it was so sensitive.
It's the first time it's happened to me. Probably because I dropped it so many times
Strange, ...

OK so I'm no expert or anything but maybe my experience with this Model might be able to help you a little bit. I have the same model and it was doing the exact same thing however I haven't rooted it. And I've since corrected the issue on mind particularly it appeared that it was the charge port and/or USB that either had a bad connection or possibly it was boot looped. However with me not rooting the I didn't understand how it could be booted Looped so I started playing around with holding the power button playin with USB things of this nature and what I found was that if I hold the USB to one side either left or right, this allowed me to help a boot farther into it sequence at first to just show the Samsung logo over and over then I could get it to get to the boot sequence about halfway through the boot animation until I finally got to the exhibit screen where displays its model and 4G status. I accomplish this by holding the USB to one side and pushing and holding the power button intermittently throughout the boot. Once I hit the unlock screen unlock the device and I immediately factory data reset it. I'm under the impression that mine was possibly I think that mine was somehow a corrupted bootloader or software still I don't know what caused it to backed up to this day occasionally it'll shut itself down and reboot on me that's why I'm here today I've got all the parts and pieces I need to flash a new rom and hopefully new software the new work over I'll be good to go I also cleaned the USB port made sure that it was still snug to the board all of the good stuff. I don't know if it'll help you but I had the same situation I thought you'd like to know that it was probably not what you were doing with the phone it may just be the software itself with this particular phone see I done nothing that you didn't had the exact same problems. I hope it was somewhat helpful if you haven't gotten it unlocked or re-booted yet. Then maybe just play around with the power sources and power buttons. And see if you can get the same results I did

Galaxy Gear(SM-V700) stuck in reboot loop, recovery & download mode will not load

I was also stuck for a few hours at SAMSUNG" too after downgrading my Gear back to Android from Tizen... until I found a post here that I'm unable to locate right now. I had to do only one thing slightly different that I'll elaborate below. So when you're soft-bricked at the SAMSUNG logo, do as follows: -
- Long press power button until you see "Rebooting"
- ASA you see that, release the power button momentarily, and now start pressing it and releasing it repeatedly for about 10 times until...
- you see the screen that has the choices to Continue, Download & Recover
- Press the power button to cycle through these choices until Recover is selected
Here's the tricky part now that worked for me after a few tries
- To select Recover now, you'll need to long press power button for about 4 seconds... any less and the selection will cycle to Continue, any more and the Gear will reboot
- If you've pressed it for the right duration, you'll see the green droid man with a message 'installing configurations' or something like that (and the Gear will probably reboot before or after that... forgot that now!)
- Then you'll see the now dreaded SAMSUNG logo again... but if you're holding the Gear in your hands, you'll feel a slight vibration... I KNEW something was going to be different when I felt that and sure enough, the Gear turned on showing the short-cuts to the videos to download the Gear Manager
- The rest should be straightforward.
I can empathize how anyone might be feeling since I went through that sickening feeling for a few hours before hitting jackpot, so if the above doesn't work or if you need any more details, just let me know.
Good luck!

re: download mode
I, too, can't seem to get into download (DL will be used for shorthand for this discussion) mode.
I'm probably missing the "timing" to get into DL mode. Am I supposed to long-press on the power when the "samsung galaxy gear" splash screen comes up or during the samsung blue halo animation?
I'm going to need a thorough walkthrough for this, please as this is my first glaaxy gear that I've owned and want to use it.
Thank you XDA for all that you do.

I have done this for like 20 times and it is still stuck on reboot loop.
I can't get past the logo screen. Can get to download and power off and continue but when I select recovery it just goes straight to Samsung galaxy gear logo
Also... When in download it says
Current binary: custom
System: custom

Nasty weird Loop

Hello forum,
I try not to post on forum for help unless I run out of options. I used to encounter loops before and managed to fix them but this one is really weird. So a bit of background : I was running stock ROM + TWRP recovery and everything seemed normal till one day when I encountered my first loop after opening up newly installed app ( although I don't think it relevant to this case ). But anyway, when I opened it, phone restarted itself immediately and kept doing it (didn't get pass the logo) for around 5 minutes when finally booted into the OS. After that everything seemed fine for...about a month when the same loops started to happen more and more often. They usually happen when phone has it screen turned off and I press power button to wake it up, it then gives me 3 seconds as If I would hold the power button and volume down button prompting me that it's about to restart itself. So I thought, that there has to be some junk apps that are fighting with each other causing these loops and I went for the recovery. But (stupid me) instead of wiping only the apps I got rid of the whole ROM with recovery ( ). So this time I flashed a custom ROM (ViperOne+9.0.0-fix) using ADB (adb push etc etc) and TWRP thinking that maybe the previous ROM was the issue. (I forgot to mention that even when there was no OS on the phone it was still looping.) After a while when the loops stopped, I got into the recovery and flashed ViperOne with no problems at all. Phone booted itself into the OS, everything seemed normal to the point where I left it for couple of minutes, pressed power button and it went into to eternal loop where it only stopped when the battery was drained. It was literally loopin the whole night (couldn't sleep). Now when I connect it to charge it doesn't go into charging but goes straight into the loop. I can get as far as the bootloader and selecting to go to recovery and after I press power button to select it, it goes into the loop. NOW..this might sound like there is a hardware issue (the power button) but I highly doubt it. Ill appreciate any kind of solutions. :silly: Thanks in advance.
