I have the xiaomi.eu rom.
I used TWRP2.x to flash:
1. miui_MINotePro_6.6.17_603d96bfe6_5.1.zip
2. superSU
3. boot loop!
tried booting into recovery: no recovery anymore, MI logo boot loop!
So i did:
1. unlocked my phone with MiFlashUnlock
2. used fastboot, flashed TWRP3.0
3. flashed miui_MINotePro_6.6.17_603d96bfe6_5.1.zip again
4. flashed superSU
5. boot loop!
finally:
1. fastboot, flashed TWRP3.0 again
2. used TWRP3.0 to flash the old xiaomi.eu dev rom
3. boot OK
does anyone know how to flash MIUI 8 when not being on an original MIUI Dev rom?

i know. i flashed the xiaomi.eu miui 8 rom aftereards and it's fine.
but i would prefer the chinese developer rom. the original developer rom allows to buy paid themes, while the xiaomi.eu rom only provides free themes in the theme store.

Impressions from the new Rom? Battery life?

If you have unlocked your bootloader, use directly MI flash in fastboot mode with fastboot rom.

I have flashed 5.11.26 via fastboot like on a guide on en.miui and it worked but the bootloader won't get unlocked. Can I flash Miui 8 and don't care about boot loader cause I don't want to put custom ROM or will I need to do unlocking even to flash Miui 8?

Nope, I didn't try. Before I've unlocked my bootloader via the form on miui.com, I couldn't get the official ROM to boot, as soon as I flashed gapps + supersu. So I flashed the xiaomi.eu ROM which contains all gapps in the ROM already. But yeah, I would prefer to use the original ROM, since paid themes are only available for the official version, plus it contains the Mi Store with all the pirated apps.

So, did you get back to dev?
I have succeeded in flashing Miui 8 over an old version of Miui 7 then I installed gapps with an en.miui tuto but now I have problems installing superSu to fully root the phone and use Titanium to restore everything I had.
Any advice.?
Note if you try to unlock bootloader: it worked for me only after getting Miui 8.

don't bother with china rom, too much bloatware, location probably not working, chinsese functions not disabled. Use the xiaomi.eu rom, it's much better, it's the china dev rom but transformed into a global rom.

Don't tell what you don't know...
"probably"...
Word that indicates how reliable it's all you're saying.
Location works, "your" bloatwares deactivated with the simple native root of rom.
Use it before denigrate.

ho it seem that you have no clue about the differences (except languages and gapps) between chinese, global and xiaomi.eu rom,. have fun with the rom

I prefer the original chinese rom, it's less bugged, has the chinese mi store and the full theme store (i have mi credits and also use paid themes). but i'm on xiaomi.eu since miui8 came out. i'm just too lazy nowadays to bother with my devices for more than 1 hour, and this tinkering can take hours and hours. if xiaomi will not release an SD820 or SD821 device with 2K screen and at least 6" i will be out soon, but i will miss miui so damn much

They say it will be 5.5 inches I would also prefer 5.7-5.8 inches at least

Can TWRP be installed on any Mi5 with any ROM?

Im on ROM Global Beta 6.11.10, so can I installed the TWRP 3.0.2.1 on it with no problems?
official TWRP - where to - web site
always go with the latest realease
(if not stated otherwise by author/maintainer) and use the one made for your phone (if available).
Remember the rules of the miui (and of the fora): read&patience ... then try or test ... and sometimes go back
So for the official TWRP you can go visit their website and have a look there (otherwise roam this forum -and other ones- for valid alternate versions).
Go to the source: the TWRP website > choose your device
and also read the info (important!) > here the FAQ page

If your BootLoader is unlocked, it should be possible.
But unlocking BL needs MIUI China Developer or the MIUI Global Developer.
And i think you don't have one of those if i read it correct.

In fact, yes.
But no one can give you a garantee that it will work.
But there are lots of people now with TWRP on Mi5 (including me) and no problems, if you follow the instructions closely.
But you will need MIUI Chinese Developer version OR MIUI Global Developer version.
And you need first the BL unlocked.
You can after that also first install CM13, which is pretty stable, and later switch to CM14.1 when it is stable.
Sorry to ask, but by Global developer version you mean the Beta version? Im on ROM MIUI 8 6.11.10 Global Beta.. so its fine to flash the TWRP?..One more thing, here on XDA I saw on the GUIDE that te more updated version was TWRP 3.0.2.0, but to Mi5 currently is the 3.0.2.3 correct? And the only way to update the TWRP is to flash it again?

You need the developer versions to activate the Root option, then you can go on with TWRP installation.
MIUI versions:

I had indeed Global beta pre-installed on my phone. And after a little explore i found out that is the same rom as Global dev. So yes, i did unlock my Mi 5 with Global beta and then flashed twrp and CM 13.
At least i understand that it is the same from MIUI forum.
And anyway it worked.

Google Play for Mi5 China 8.2

I installed China Stable 8.2 but no GAPPS, how to install them ?
You need to install Google play services, play store, service framework, account manager, contact sync, calendar sync apks manually.
You won't get them worked on CN Stable or Dev rom.
No Google services will work.
You can install Xiaomi.eu rom which is based on CN Stable and CN Dev(weekly) but it supports Gapps.

[Cuz Eu rom has much more features, better RAM management and battery performance.
Again they enabled Camera api 2. Though it's not a full control over the camera but you know, something is better than nothing. Specially with Open camera and ProShot we can capture RAW image.
Afterall it's a stock Rom but with some good modification.

Yes There's eu rom for redmi 4.
Tutorial is similar to flash a custom rom.
just one thing you need to remember that you can't wipe system before installing eu rom.
So.
Unlock your device
install TWRP
Boot into TWRP
Wipe your Internal Storage & Data or you can just do a factory reset from Wipe menu. ( It's a must for newer Xiaomi device as it's encrypted by Xiaomi.)
After wiping Internal Storage & Data reboot system.
Your phone will be started as new now.
Go through the setup wizard to finish boot.
Now download eu rom for your device.
After downloading boot into TWRP.
Make a Backup of your current ROM ( Optional but recommend.)
Wipe Data, Cache but DON'T WIPE SYSTEM.
Install Eu rom.
After Installing don't wipe cache.
Reboot system.
Done.

One thing you need to remember, If you're on China rom and you don't have Google apps on your rom, you won't get Google apps after flashing eu rom.
So for unlocking your device flash Global Dev rom first and unlock. ( Without dev rom you can't unlock your device.)
As Global Dev rom has full package of Gapps so there's nothing to worry about.
After flashing Eu rom you'll get the Gapps.

I think you misunderstand something. It doesn't matter which rom you use china, global or custom ones, xiaomi.eu will always have google services. They are built-in in xiaomi.eu. Btw, you won't get incremental ota in xiaomi.eu. You need to download full rom to upgrade.

Actually I tried.
I flash eu rom over my Global rom. After rebooting with eu rom all the gapps package was there. Then again I flash eu rom over RR. On RR I didn't flash Gapps. So after flashing eu rom I didn't find any gapps there. Then again I flash back RR, Install Gapps. Then again flash eu rom over it. This time I got the Gapps. As I flash Pico Gapps on RR so I only got Play Store on eu rom.
Remember, xiaomi.eu ask you not to wipe system. That's the reason. It's like an OTA update.
If you install eu rom like an ordinary ROM it will be in bootloop.
I might be wrong but literally I'm not

Would suggest the global stable ROM at this point. It's got great RAM management and is running really smooth and at times more stable wrt to LOS and AOSP ROMs. Plus even the battery life has been quite decent too

Thanks for your reply. You are 100% right. After some research I realized that it is NOT possible to flash the Developer ROM with a locked bootloader. I even tried older Developer ROM's which were still based on Android 8.1 because the newer versions were based on Android 9.0. A few days ago, the Pocophone and the Mi A2 allowed me to switch from Stable to Developer and back, without any problems, simply by flashing the .zip via the stock Updater app.

It is not possible, you need to unlock the bootloader AND install custom recovery. Xiaomi phones aren't always the easiest to return to stock should you actually decide to do it and then decide to return to stock.
The official stable release is rumored to arrive in November, possibly even December, so it might be a good idea to wait a little longer.

Miui Global Rom in K20 Pro indian version

i have k20pro indian version and latest 12.0.1 miui but i want to flash global version of miui into my device because of navigation pill and some more features like animation.
if some one here can help me with the procedure and also can confirm that will there gonna be some consequences in daily usage and call recording gonna work or not(by internal feature or any third party app).
if i did so than i will be able to receive future ota?
Any kind of help will be appreciated.
On global, you won't get miui dialer and sms. So no call recording. Also if you want to continue, you'll first need to unlock your bootloader and then flash the global rom.
Should bootloader be unlocked and twrp installed or just bootloader needs to unlocked and after that it can be updated through stock recovery in future ??

There are a few mods. But what I heard of is, miui mods other than xiaomi.eu may break your L1 widevine (though there is a workaround to bring back L1 on some mods). So I prefer eu rom and am still using it.

Once you unlock the bootloader, you can easily install custom recovery using fastboot. So first install any custom recovery and use it to flash rom

I did find some stutters but nothing major. Plus it is better than stock indian miui. Do note that you will have to live with chinese news feed(with english translation) on wallpaper carousel if you use that.

Hi bro.. can you please share the steps you followed?? Also do all the things work??
I have already tried, these are steps (*do it on your own risk)
1. Download global stable fastboot rom zip of 9T Pro
2. Use Mi Flash tool to flash it
3. It gives error on bootloader lock status but phone successfully boots into global stable.
Here are my observation from 2 days of usage.
1. No MIUI dialer, contact, sms app and instead they use google provided apps in global. Record call works, there is additional page of action menu once you are in call. I lost my all sms's from mi cloud in this process, though i have backup from another app to restore.
2. Animations are smooth compared to K20 Pro and that is because of stock mi launcher. The POCO launcher on Indian version misses out most of the new animations.
3. No HD support in prime video in global . Working fine in Indian stable.
4. Debloating is not working on both roms as of now. I tried from adb tool.
5. Clone mode available in camera app of global.
6. Geekbench single core score is more in indian rom compared to global. Overall smoothness is improved compared to MIUI 11.
7. Auto brightness is bad on both roms now compared to 11.0.6.0 of Indian version.
8. Call reception (idea) is bad on global compared with indian rom. Jio VOLTE is fine on both.
After using global for 2 days, I have reverted to Indian stable because of the HD video support and call quality issues. I would suggest to use MIUI EU roms to get all features of china rom and debloated apps.

everything working fine just themes section have Chinese themes..
steps :-1. unlocked bootloader
2. flashed orangefox recovery latest(twrp not recommended)
3. backup everything and move that file to pc
4. flashed miui.eu rom package
5.DFE file( disable force encryption file)
6. reboot
You not gonna regret if you flashed it over indian version

Question Google play uncertified & next steps

I have purchased a mi 11 Ultra from CEX in the UK and updated as soon as I got home so I am now on 13.04 Global.
When I started to set up the device I noticed I can't add cards to google wallet or use Netflix because it isn't certified. I've checked and the device isnt rooted.
Can anyone help and advise how I resolve this?
I would advise installing the Xiaomi EU rom. That ROM passes certification.

Thanks for the reply, will that be possible without rooting or is that needed first?

No root required. Just need an unlocked bootloader and sounds like yours may already be unlocked. You'll be able to see from Developer options.
