Changelogs
As we're getting back into the thread game, keeping up with threads and updating them as per changelogs can be too hectic given our schedule. However, very detailed changelogs always go up on our Google+ page, follow us for constant updates!
Instructions & requirements
We highly recommend you to follow these instructions very carefully. Users usually tend to skip a few steps and eventually fall in trouble. Are you with me? Good. Let's get this train going.
Just a few things to keep in mind first -
If you're coming from another ROM / Stock, your system data (not internal storage) will have to be wiped. This includes apps, accounts, messages, call logs etc.
There's been some users complaining about different GAPPS variants messing up installs and causing a ton of issues. Upon investigating it seems OpenGapps Mini/Nano and Banks GAPPS work best.
Understand that Paranoid Android is a custom ROM and it might lead to addiction as it's relatively good. We shouldn't be accused of anything just incase your cat starts drinking wine. Things get a little woozy in the Paranoid World.
Some brain might be involved if things go wrong. Not a lot though, as much to solve what's 1+1.
Okay let's get to the main bit -
Once you have all the required files - boot into recovery and wipe the bananas out of your device. Get into the wipe menu and wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache (basically everything except Internal Storage).
Once wiped, get into the "Install from zip" menu and select the ROM zip. (pa_bacon_6.x...). Once added to the install queue, TWRP will ask you if you want to add more zips into the queue - Click on "add more zips" and select the GAPPS package.
Swipe the bar on the bottom to flash/install zips. Once both zips are done installing - Reboot into system and set-up your device, do not do anything else.
Once you're done setting up your device - well that's when you're done. One thing though - Make sure you DO NOT INSTALL any other zip in the same queue as the ROM & GAPPS. Meaning, do not flash anything like a kernel or a root package while installing the ROM. We recommend you do that AFTER you're done setting up your device.

Finally. Thanks

Nice one. Latest build running really smooth and is bug free.
@xboxfanj which app can you recommend to control the enhanced kernel?

Kernel Adituor is pretty good and made by Willi, who's on our team.

"Based on: God"
Can we get one based off of Satan too or are there too many thermal issues?
But seriously, I appreciate you're work here!

Great man. Hope to see ota updates are supported in your next build
Sent from my ONE E1003 using XDA-Developers mobile app

It seems not support f2fs

Web browser is crashing after a complete clean install - wipe data, cache and system. With last OpenGapps nano.
And no swipe with the google keyboard.
Back to CM.

All work good except for the camera, it lags, before and after flash sultan HAL, it need a lot of time for focus too.

Flashed the ROM and there was no sound in calls
Both the caller and receiver had no sound

Doesn't boot on my white E1003, stuck on one+ logo. I have to flash a custom kernel.
Double tap to sleep doesn't work.
Envoyé de mon ONE E1003 en utilisant Tapatalk

Definitely the best ROM or there. It's just works perfectly. The only bad thing is the camera. It's lagging and not performing well. And if I flash Sultan HAL is even worse. I don't use the camera too much so I can live with it. I wonder how did Sultan made the camera perform that well on his ROM, but.when flashing the HAL on other Roms it isn't nearly the same. It would be awesome to have AOSPA with sultans Roms camera performance.
Anyways, as I said, by far the best rom I tried for Onyx.
Glad to have PA back. Congrats!!!!

Low ear piece volume... Couldn't hear in crowded place... Cm theme doesn't have boot animation option. Gonna try new build...

Menu button
how i open the menu from app? Holding back or recents button doesn't work.

,Nope, not a single problem with calls. I don't use the phone as a phone too much though hehe, ironic right? But the few time I call my family through the day not a single problem. Maybe gapps conflict? I used banks as is the one they recommend.

I tried both open gapps nano and bank gapps but still no sound on calls

@xboxfanj,
Is the CMTE ready for use on AOSPA? I've been using Swift Dark theme with multiple ROMs previously and it always worked flawlessly. With AOSPA (the first onyx release) multiple UI elements remained unthemed. This happened with other themes as well.

thanks for the rom @xboxfanj !
just a minor (actually formal) thing: ur install instructions appear to be quite noob proof. therefore i think "install pa_bacon_..." might cause confusion for such

This well established Android distribution treats development differently than any other to further our Android platform as a whole. Also, this ROM utilizes our unique build system and a custom LLVM 3.5 suite based toolchain globally.
CFX Issue Tracker.
BUGS:
At this time, there is no embedded SU app in the ROM. A link to download SuperSU flashable zip is located in the downloads section below.
Utilizing the LLVM CLANG CI globally, working heavily with upstreams with a goal of furthering our entire Android platform.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization and Polly optimizations (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google these a bit.
Much of our source have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations to set us even further ahead of the community. These are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can achieve for your device without sacrificing stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Utilizing all O4 optimizations (Optimization Level 4) including LTO (with binutils plugins), and additionally LLVM Polly.
Of course we also have several neat UI features, including but not limited to:
T-Mobile Theme Engine.
DPI Wizard (no junk like build.prop tweaks).
Quick Settings panel customizations.
Live network stats in your statusbar.
Button backlight customizations.
Hardware button customizations.
Volume button customizations.
Expandable volume menu.
CFX Weather "Found under settings -> CFX -> Weather"
Many more being added during the nightly builds.

I guess I will use this as an update on my status! I work at a hospital in the IT department and am in charge of all things computers / upgrades / network / anything else my boss wants me to do lol. With the XP end date nearing I am in the process of imaging over 400 pc's to windows 7 and also in the middle of migrating our IBM systems to newer hardware so that we can then upgrade our H.I.S. system "not fun". If you are in doubt of the status of the ROM just check the download link in the OP above and see if there is a new nightly posted! Also, any issues found either post in this thread or send me a PM and I will send it off to the devs to fix!
BMP7777, you are seriously awesome for porting all these ROMs to the m7spr. I remember Team Codefire talking about their rom coming out, but haven't been following their work. It's kind of weird to not have CFX and Themes in the Settings menu. Any idea if this should make things more stable, or they just haven't implemented this yet?

As of now, they are both .apks rather than embedded in settings. Check your app drawer. Don't know the why's behind it, but I'm sure it's by design. Any feedback you have about how this badboy runs will be appreciated.

Well, I've only been using it for a half hour or so with no drama. I'm at work so I can't really fiddle with it too much. The one thing I've been getting on KitKat roms is the SIM card lock, and a few of them have been giving me random reboots. I'll let you know if I get either one of these today.
I like the file explorer, it's the perfect amount of simple and functional.
BTW, I had to root with SuperSU. I assumed that this would be included, as it's a Chainfire ROM.

This is not a completed ROM, so any extras or even standard items may not have been integrated yet. Have others experienced this?
BTW I don't think that Chainfire has any affiliation with CFX. At least, I see no threads by him here for CFX, and I didn't find him listed as a member on their site.

Oh, I feel silly. I didn't even think about it. I just ASSumed that they were affiliated. Either way, I had to root it with SuperSU. Not a big deal, just an observation.
Also, I went to lunch today, and lost data until I toggled Airplane Mode. I think it was because the restaurant was a brick building, but I'm not sure because it didn't seem to connect until I toggled Airplane Mode, even though I waited ~5 minutes before trying. Otherwise, nothing to report. No SIM card locks or random reboots yet.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to add a few things to the ROM zip this evening: CFX bootani, SU apk, maybe a couple of other thing to make it interesting. But, it'll have to wait until I'm done building the latest BS update...... did I say that outloud?
ROM layout is great... I like a lot of the KitKat features.
I am getting some random freezing of the screen... Does not seem to be specific to any app or feature.
Also... Can anyone tell me how to get to the browser settings in this new browser version? I can't seem to find them.
Thanks.
I only have one phone you know
I unplugged it from the wall this morning, and when I slid the lock ring, I got a random reboot. Still, to go about 20hr without issue isn't too bad for an experimental build, eh?

However, I'm probably dense, but after reading that article I'm still not sure how to find the browser settings that I was asking about.
New build on deck
New build with CFX bootanimation and latest commits. All feedback welcomed. I had trouble downloading it, but apparently no one else has because I have 13 DLs in the last hour and no one knew about it. Any problems, let me know. Also post any features you come across so I can add them to the OP. Hard to tell whats what with a beta......
http://goo.im/devs/BMP7777/ONE-CodeFireX//full_m7spr-cfxe-OPENMASTER-20140111.113455.zip
I'll update the OP soon.....
So the three dot menus are disabled, but the back button menu also doesn't bring up the menus. Is this the intended behavior? I can't find anything in the CFX options or system settings to changes any of this. I tried to add the three dot menus back with an xposed module but it also gave me the soft navigation bar. If you can point me to the settings for this I appreciate it.
I've just gotten started, but so far I have 3-dot menus in every app I have opened. Some of them are at the bottom, though.

Weird... I didn't have the ones at the top or bottom. I tried your beanstalk rom last night and it does have them if I select the option.
I like the option that the beanstalk has to keep the home and back buttons always lit too.
I do not own this device, but really happy to see developers using codefireXperiment for building custom ROMs as well.
Way to Go !

Tried the commotio rom for the m8 yesterday, it appears that vanir is using CM for the base now which kind of sucks because I'd love to have seen them stick with an aosp base. Still a cool rom though either way.

HI,
Are you confirming that everything works on the Tipsy build?
If so, what process did you follow? Am GSM international
Flashed tipsey m8 alpha v3.0 20151128-1701.zip and then flashed Banks 6.0, gaps and exposed v78-23. After flash and setup, then flashed extreme music mod and Dolby atmos 6.5. Could be your gaps?? Some aren't working I've found banks is the best . I'm using a Verizon model with a T-Mobile sim. Let me know where your getting hung up in the install.
Is this rom rooted?

OK I got it to boot and so far no problems. I tried Banks gaps and open and many other's. Ended up going to there Google plus community and then there link to there download page for all ROMs by vanir. In it is gaps 60arm-DHO-Gaps.zip . I used that gaps with the build in this thread and it booted and cleared setup with no crashes.
Here is the link for vanir gaps from there community page on Google plus.

As for the question above me asking if it's rooted. All these are rooted whether it has SuperSU installed on boot or not. Just goto about phone, hit build several times to get developer options up and then in developer options about five down will be root access. It's at no be default . You can change it for apps, or ADB, or both. It will prompt you like SuperSU when a app is asking for root permission. Same as SuperSU

Twrp recovery
This is TWRP recovery with the new UI from Omni Sources. Be sure to thank those from the omni team for their sources as well. m7spr_TWRP_2.8.7.0
You can download this straight to your device and boot into your current twrp recovery & flash it. First you must select to install images on the lower right corner of twrp.
ISSUES
I do not have my m7 activated on any networks currently so you tell me the things which don't work that I cannot test.
At this point I'm aware of the camera crashing and it has a red tint & sometimes purple.
Great to see this Dev again, really appreciated your other Roms; Candy5 is my daily driver.
(I do not have this phone connected so I can't test data)
Glad to see this up and running, I've downloaded it and flashed it with no problems (I flashed 6.0 Open Gapps 1/26, SU 2.57 and Xposed v79 with TWRP 2.8.7.0). I'm happy to report that all the settings worked with no problems or FCs system wise except FM Radio (Happens on all MM Roms for M7SPR like Vanir 6.0).
All kernel settings are there and I didn't get any random boots. Sound worked for me with no problem and no G-services random stops. Camera has its disconnecting (as stated) but was able to record a short video of ten seconds (didn't test any longer).
I would stay on this rom but it has the infamous Facebook/Messenger MM Custom Rom FC which isn't a huge problem for people who don't use it. :silly:
Thanks for this Rom, I can't wait to see future updates to test out :good:
a few screenshots pls
Flashing now; I've been on Candy5 for the past few months and loved it thanks a bunch!

Seems like a great rom except for the issue I have with all 6.0 roms and that is no cellular service.

Who is your cell provider? I thought the RIL was working for sprint as stated from a tester but that could be wrong.
I'm a Sprint customer. I was able once to play around with my cellular settings and get it to work but after a reboot I couldn't get it to work again.

I didn't see any lag when I tried this rom out and liked the look and feel of it. I had to pass on it because of an issue with cellular service.

To everyone,
Remember what the point of this site - and especially a development thread - is (hint: it's not "I can haz super cool phone"). Developers take a ROM base of some sort and spend their personal time and effort to get it working on a certain device and carrier. The job of the rest of us is to help by being beta testers and posting logs of issues so the ROM can get better. Most ROMs start out with bugs and lags initially, especially ROMs not based on stock, but they usually get figured out in time. If you can help, great; if not, run something more stable like stock (there's no shame in that), but please do not discourage developers.
Thanks,

Just wanted to add a +1 to the cellular service issue, I'm on radio 1.01.20.1225 which I believe is the one from the most recent firmware but it's certainly possible that I missed an update. When I went to cellular service in settings I got an error when it tried to search for cellular networks and at one point the settings force-closed.
Other than that the ROM seemed solid and I was looking forward to using it, data was good and connected reliably, no noticeable lag other than what you would normally expect from a fresh install.
Thanks to the dev for trying to bring us Marshmallow, hiccups are to be expected and I will be following this thread closely.

The baseband for the latest firmware reading it from your device would be "1.02.20.0922" You can find the firmware from @OMJ in the development threads here. Also I'll be uploading a Cyanogenmod 13 rom for you all to test cellular service soon.
EDIT: And here is an unofficial cm-13.0 for testing the ril, cellular data. Let me know what you find?
You can use opengapps, banks, or whatever you prefer for 6.0.
Great ROM! Running well, except for auto-rotate seems to be broken.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
We recommend MindTheGApps. OpenGApps should work, but please make sure you clearly mention the gapps you're using when reporting bugs.
Notice:
For this ROM to work you need to use the latest ODM Images. If you need additional guidance on how to do that, please refer to Sonys Guide on how to flash an ODM Image.

No one tried this rom yet? I have a problem over here. It keeps asking for password after the CarbonROM logo even though I wipe everything clear, any ideas? What I was doing was flash 41.3.A.2.99 with everything wiped, flash ODM, flash TWRP, flash the rom and then Pico OpenGapps. Something wrong with my procedure? Thanks in advance.
EDIT1 : Oh yeah, forgot to mention my device is F8332, it isn't supported?

Use the "format data" option in TWRP to get rid of encryption, wipe doesn't clear encryption. If coming from stock, thats necessary unfortunately due to differences in the encryption used. Otherwise (if coming from AOSP) the password its asking for would be the one you used before.
Dual sim support?

Volte Supported??
First of all, thanks alot @Myself5 and all other devs, who are working hard to bring this to our XZ :good:
My experiences after 1 day:
- rom is very smooth and snappy.
- root via Magisk v16 & Xposed 90.1-beta3 (systemless) works flawlessly
- the fp sensor always works, but it's not as sensitive as with stock
- night light worked - until I've installed Substratum and a Substratum theme, but after that it doesn't work anymore (even after deactivating, uninstalling the theme, a system restart and deinstalling the Substratum app it sill doesn't work). Also a dirty flash of the rom.zip didn't help to get it working again.
- the build-in camera takes acceptable pics (not as well as the stock camera, but acceptable); also focussing is a little slower than stock. Another thing is, it's not possible to chance the location to save the pics to the ext. sdcard.
- formatted as a portable storage, the ext. sdcard item on the left of the status bar can't be removed (see attachement)
- the battery consumption is a bit high (from 100 % to 98 % in 1 h - without doing anything)
But in the whole, it's really promising for th 1st official build :good::good::good:

Hello, is the battery life when used good ? As good as stock ?
And does it have that bug when if you record video the result will be green ?
Can you upload screen recording of rom from home to settings and other functions.
I plan on flashing this soon, but I figured I'd tell you, your link to the Carbon FAQ is broken.

The battery consumption while in use is ok. But my device doesn't go into deepsleep while the screen is off. So I had lost about 23 % in 10 hrs - leaving the device untouched!
Video recording works; I haven't noticed that bug.

Sorry, I went back to stock for now, as there's a new stock fw (41.3.A.2.107).
I have a few bugs to report. First, the fingerprint sensor is extremely slow, about half or even one third of the speed compared to stock. Second, could you guys please fix the deepsleep? That one is not working for now. And third, Night Light does not work at all...
Thank you for updating the XZ to Android 8.1 I am glad to see carbon rom on this device although it is not that stable for now.
Really nice ROM and I'm looking forward to make this my daily driver, I tried it for two days and these are the bugs I found:
1: GPU performance is really bad with 2d games and google maps lagging all the time when they never do on stock
2: CPU performance is inferior compared to stock, especially single threaded
3: enabling 120 hz display won't do anything and the settings or UI will crash when leaving the page
4: fingerprint seems to be sometimes less responsive, usable but can be improved
Camera is not so bad and the modded google camera works well, hopefully this will become the first proper AOSP based platform for this device that has only seen failures until now, keep up the good work.
Can I dirty flash this rom for just update?
I use Carbon Rom 3/31 version, but I can't use delta update because my device cannot receive the stock script.
I must change the rom script with Notepad+.
So...can I use dirty flash or....could you manage it?
Thanks for continously updating this rom and thank you for fixing the bug with the fingerprint sensor.
I'm not sure if deepsleep has been fixed but there is a big problem with playing music. I can't even play any music track at all...
Hello, looking forward to make this my daily driver, is it possible ?
What I would want is decent battery life and camera.
Hello. I tried to listen to music after installing the ROM, but the earphones are disconnected as soon as they are connected to the smartphone.
The earbuds pfe 132 and are made up of earphones with an iphone microphone.

Clean flashed the 10th build along with Rytekk's dual-SIM patch, Pico Open GApps and Magisk 16.3 to my F8332 and other than that annoying SD notification (which can be banished to the notification drawer by making System UI notifications low priority) and Night Light not working, the only other major issue raised ITT of the CPUs not entering Deep Sleep is fixed according to Adiutor.
Great stuff. I haven't been able to standardise on one ROM since the CM days (interesting side note, it looks like you built the kernel for the NOCT build on my Z2 tablet).
I recommend this to anyone for daily use. Also, lower your expectations to realistic levels guise. I remember when XDA threads were for flagging major broken functionality, not complaining that a few amateur enthusiasts weren't putting out work that competed on every indicator against the finished product of a multibillion-dollar for-profit international conglomerate.

We are very excited to announce the alpha/beta of Paranoid Android Topaz, based on Android 13.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with beautiful wallpapers from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app from the PlayStore.
Our builds are based on the Code Linaro Organization Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

Where do we get boot.img and vendor_boot.img?
From paranoid android file? Or from miui stock original firmware?
Can I use minimal adb&fastboot to install fastboot img file?
Can I use 13.0.2 firmware from xiaomi.eu to flash it, or I'll get hard brick?
Works beautifully, no lags or bugs. Best ROM for spes right now IMO.
Looking forward to seeing this ROM being one of the best out there. Although the rom for this phone hasn't been optimized like I imagined but hoping that it'll be further improved in the future. For now, it's pretty good but not perfect like the way I wanted it to be. Anyways, keep up on the good work!

And it's very stable and fast for me till now. Is it worthy to give it a try with paranoid android. Or should I wait for the final release specially its just a beta!?

Like to try it also. The thing with PA is, beta is pretty stable comparable to most roms stable releases. I guess until kernel sources are released (if ever) crdroid in its general performance shows the limits
So beautiful, almost perfect rom.
Please built ROM without gapps.
Please update shortcut for on/off NFC, like shortcut on/off bluetooth.
And show remaining ram used.
I like this rom
This rom is nice, almost perfect. Almost evrything works according to my usage. Frustratrated of
using mi rom and their security app and coming from a oneplus experience, I had to move to other rom.
As of proprietory camera driver as I understand, I didn't find any camera app to work properly and
I prtend I don't have a camera with this crappy mobile phone.
Now coming to this rom, I found some issues which I am listing below.
Video calling works, tap2wake works and is stable(unlike Xtended, haven't tried crDroid yet)
No secure lockscreen i.e. notification menu on lockscreen is visible
No way to change navigation buttons functionality (i.e. long press & double tap)
No custom navigation panel style.
No display when incoming call (perhaps a bug) at times.
No AOD and no lockscreen clock customization.
Can't install twrp succesfully (The A/B methods are really messy and also fastboot and fastbootd) and I haven't risked anything using magisk.
Don't know if fast charging works(no fast charge visual confirmation).
Only one screen off gesture (double tap), have to long press power button to invoke torch.
But I do appriciate the good work of the developer. I'm using this rom as a daily driver. I haven't checked crDroid or PixelExperience.
Perhaps someone can shed some light on that.
Thank you all. Have a nice day.
I know PA is one of the most popular custom ROM, but I can't seem to find a newer feature list. How does it compare to other ROMs?
I use Pixel Experience Plus as daily driver and recently made a switch, here's my first impression/comparison
Comes with GCam Go instead of the stock camera
4 numbers pin (PE+ makes you press the enter button)
No double back tap
Lock screen by double tapping home instead of quick settings
At a Glace can be turned off
Google search bar can be turned off
Icon and Font customization
Tons of feature flags on Home settings
Recent menu shows Screenshot + Lens option instead of Screenshot + Select
Comes with more GApps then PE+ (YouTube, Drive, Maps, Gmail, etc.)
No option to hide battery icon when percentage is shown. Only option is to show icon, icon + percentage, icon + percentage when charging, or hide everything
The one-handed mode gesture can be used for notification instead
I'd say they both have similar overall feel, with some customization changed in favor of other. PA feels a bit smoother, not sure if that's just my feeling. I wouldn't compare it with crDroid. crDroid adds tons of features and customization while sacrificing the overall looks.
This is my first impression, so I have yet to test the battery and performance. Please let me know if there was any mistake. I'll make an update after using this for a while
Been used PA for 2 days, everything is good no issues so far, i think it smoother than crDroid, need more features such as:
NFC toggle not present
Network/data speed meter in status bar
60 fps contents in Instagram is stuttered, I don't know in other social media platform
While crDroid has a lot of customization but PA is just simple & stable straight to the point, Thanks for your nice work.
The experience has been smooth so far, face unlock and fingerprint feels faster compared to other ROMs. Only bug I've found is that when you create a WebApp shortcut from Chrome and try to uninstall it, Paranoid Launcher immediately crashes
