Is it possible to take RAW pictures? - LG Optimus 4X HD

Has anyone tried taking RAW (*.dng) pictures with Android 5.0+ custom roms and compatible 3rd party camera apps?

In case someone looking for an answer for this.
Self-answer: NO
Tried with Unofficial CM12.1 and Camera FV-5.
Result: RAW option is greyed out with unsupported camera notice.
RAW means all image data should be sent from Camera logic to the phone HW but that requires much more bandwidth between camera and phone HW.
Camera has its own circuitry and if its not designed for RAW imaging, it may be hard or impossible to implement this feature in a later software modification.

no raw photos on 5.1.1 ATT?

Just flashed the latest update.
So sad there still no raw DNG format support on ATT version. Is that common or only me? Anyone know that?
Thanks
I believe in order to use RAW you have to use have to download a camera app that supports RAW. Like Open Camera.

Is it possible on xz2?
It seems to be supported by any other sd845 smartphone, except this one.
Can it be enabled in any way? With a 3rd party camera application perhaps?

I would try it on OMNI or AOSP after the camera functions become stable.

No RAW mode with third party camera apps?

Hello All!
I tried to use OpenCamera for RAW shooting because the stock camera app does not provide Histogram and Zebra overlays which I consider absolutely necessary.
However, the RAW option is not present in OpenCamera and also OpenCamera's debug information states that RAW would not be available.
Is this a known problem with the P30 Pro and does a workaround exist?
Thank you in advance!
RAW works in different apps, you have to test it.

Raw capture with stock camera app

Hi
Been using a V50, that is identical to the V40 camera wise, for a couple of days comig from a V30.
Regarding RAW capture with the stock camera the output seems much worse than the V30 - the DNG files have vignetting and are very desaturated, noting like the output on the V30 and previous LG phones that had this corrected.
Using a 3rd party camera app, the DNG files don't have vignetting but are still very desaturated.
I'm on android 10. Does the V40 also has these issues, having the same camera hardware?
Thanks
Hi!
The V40 does actually have the same problems. Well, DNG files as RAW files by nature contain the unprocessed information what the camera saw when it took the picture, including all optical imperfections and sensor noise. I have a SONY a6000 mirrorless camera at home, and it also has these "problems". It is how it is... Instead of the camera software doing the hard work, it leaves it to you to decide what do you wanna do with the image. Using Lightroom Mobile, you can fix both vignetting and barrel distortion by enabling Lens Profile Corrections. There is also an Auto setting for the colours too. (and a built in capture mode with DNG support which automatically applies lens prifile corrections if I remember correctly) But if you do not want to go through all these to get a decent picture, why all the fuss, just use JPEG. The stock cam app can do awesome images with its built in post processing algorithm, I barely use RAW mode, unless I wanna do something really specific and go hard on editing.

Question Anyone found any 3rd party camera apps working fully?

I've tried a whole bunch of camera apps and so far the stock app is the only one that seems to be able to access 60fps recording. Every camera2 probe app I've tried reports 30fps as the max reported speed the device can use which makes me think Oppo have locked out any other apps from accessing it.
Another possibility I'm wondering is if it's not actually true 60fps at all - and it's actually using frame interpolation at 30fps to create the 60fps - although it does seem more natural playing back the recordings and doesn't seem to have the slightly "unreal" look that interpolation usually gives.
There also seems to be no way to select any other camera besides one of the main cameras on the back and the selfie camera on the front when using 3rd party apps.
It just seems a bit of a f-you to have them tout the camera setup as a main selling point of the device while at the same time locking out other apps from using basic recording features like 60fps and making no mention of it. 3rd party apps also exist to provide additional tweaks and features that the stock one lacks and I was disappointed to find Filmic Pro and Open Camera can't access 60fps and has trouble with the shutter speed to stop the zebra stripes/banding in some lighting scenarios.
Have you tried porting Google camera? I just downloaded a modded port and can record at 4k 60fps. Looks Pretty good also.

Hey any chance of a link to the one you are using?
I have tried a few different apks and the only one that would actually install (or open) is the Camera PX v.8.1.008.341125824.
It suffers from zebra striping indoors and outdoors, pressing on "slo-mo" force closes the app, captures of both pics and video are fairly noisy or grainy, 4k mode force closes as soon as I switch the option and it doesn't have an option I can see to choose framerate.
Definitely would like to try a fully working one.

I used this one, although a bit of searching around and I found a couple of others I will try as well.
Greatness GCam APKs - Google Camera Port
Modified Google Camera app By Greatness.

Here you can enable bottons for the different lenses. Be aware to use the alternative fix as the app crashes otherwise.
I didn't figure out how to use the stream configs though

No, unfortunately not. Only 1x and 2x. But the rest works normal.
