How to enable 3G/4G in both sim1 and sim2 ? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Dear, everyone.
I've just got my P9 and I try to enable 3G in both sim because my first sim need to enable 3G for call/answer, my second sim use for 4G internet.
I've try engineer mode *#*#2846579159*#*# but not have function to unlock 3G in both.
Anybody have a service mode code for Huawei P9.
Thanks everybody for your answer.

Hi,
I know this is old, but wondering if you were ever able to figure out if this is possible and how?

guess you can only have 2g connectivity in second sim, that's too bad I can have 3g in second sim in motorola g4 plus, guess kirin is no better than exynos after all

P10 secret code *#*#6130#*#* radio signal on/off

Good day to everyone! Im having trouble on my network signal.
I've read numbers of article about p10 to turn on radio signal by dialing *#*#4636#*#* and navigate to phone information and there is a ping test and the switch to turn on and off the radio signal
But suddenly my phone vtr-l29 dual sim asia
Is not working with that kind of secret code *#*#4636#*#* instead *#*#6130#*#* is working for me but theres no switch for radio signal just the ping test!
Im not rooted. So my question is in rooted p10 phone. Can you access *#*#4636#*#* ? Thank you so much!

Up for this. I have the same question.
Would like to know as well, currently I am having issues with "no service", could only get one Sim card to work. I am able to switch between Sim 1 and Sim 2 but only the default mobile data ones will work. The other will always shows no service.
I rooted my phone with magisk (single-sim l09 telekom germany) and it doesn't work for me aswell, only the one with 6130...
My p10 lite no service error how do I resolve this problem

Second sim is not available, when you are using the first one (when answering/making a call).
...and if I am surfing on socials like Facebook in SIM #1 does it work receiving call on SIM #2 or is it stopped?
EDIT: solved
Similar to the Huawei Mate 10 series, the P20 and P20 Pro can support dual-SIMs with dual 4G and dual VoLTE running at the same time. This provides the best dual-SIM experience as both lines are connected to the best network possible. It also supports download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps with 4X4 MIMO over a 4.5G LTE network.

This all depends on whether you have the dual sim version of the P20 Pro. Most UK versions are single SIM only. Allegedly, these can be converted to dual sim using a guide available on this forum or using the funky huawei paid service. I am still looking for full verification that this workaround is fully functional or not. Goes without saying that, you will also need to buy a dual sim tray for these UK versions of the P20 Pro.

Oh, I'm in Sweden, and my dual SIM works like a charm. Have my work sim and private sim running simultaneously without any issues at all. I opted in the settings to run the surf on sim 2 since I have more data on that one even.
I do wish I could set one number at "do not disturb" at a time. Or change the ringer to vibrate or silent for just one of the phone number.

Still only dual sim standby and not dual sim active so it could be better

@OP
What this guy said is 100%
The only way to obtain dual SIM from a single SIM variant is to essentially lose bootloader unlocking ability by using the funky Huawei method.
It's up to you to decide which you think is more important.

What's the difference between active and standby? Plus, did you rebrand your phone after network unlocking it? Did it affect the network unlock at all?

Uhm, well. Mostly here in Sweden the phones are unlocked and unbranded. So, I just smacked my work sim and private sim in the phone and activated the "dual active 4G" option.

Well the text is in Swedish. But the options says, "internet access during phonecall" and "dual SIM 4g".

You dont. Try to make a call from sim2 when sim1 is engaged in a call. Or be on a call on sim1 and and get a notice when someone calls you on sim2 and change to that call. You cant do that and that is the difference of dualsim standby and active. The last Huawei device to have dualsim active was the Honor 8. After that they have stopped supporting it, cheaper with standby than active

Yeah that works. If I'm in a call I can add a call using the second line without the first call dropping out. The first call can't hear me tho, unless I switch back. But, both are connected, just the the speaker and mic can only be connected to one at a time. I figure that's a software limitation tho.

Strange that your phone can make it but not mine. And since the phone just supports dualsim standby and not active it should not work. Thats why there are an option to forward calls to the other sim when the the first one is engaged in a call as it is not possible to have both sims active at the same time as the phone just got one radio part.

I actually just tried after the last comment to make sure. And it works. It might be because both of the cards are on the network provider "3" and they do the calls over 3g and 4g since they don't have 2g access. And as my earlier screenshot shows, you can have both of the 4g's active at the same time.
But if you're right about that "one radio part" shouldn't that also be impossible? I'd think it's weird to build in two 3/4g antennas and just one 2g.
Sorry I have to revive this dead topic.
Is there an updated list of DSFA smartphones (dual sim active, two radio modules)?
I know DSFA can somehow be "emulated" using VoLTE /dual VoLTE or VoWifi if the device and carrier supports it.

In Settings / Wireless & Networks / Dual SIM, see that only one SIM (you can choose which) can be 3G/4G
Hence one SIM will be on 3G or 4G, second SIM must be on 2G - but if your operator for that second SIM does not provide 2G you will not be able to use that SIM
In Settings / Wireless & Networks you can disable 4G and in Preferred Network type you can force GSM (2G) only - that way you can test which of the two SIM cards / operators provide/have 2G signal

In Dual SIM Settings you choose one which is 4G, the other will be 2G/3G
Cannot help you more, I have both SIMs 2G/3G/4G, hence no matter how I set, both work
Try playing yourself, test both SIMs one by one only, in one and the other slot, with various settings (4G enabled/disabled, Pref net 4G, 3G, 2G only)
Maybe you have problem with one of the SIM cards or one slot

Question Dual Sim - with WiFi calling on 1 and service on sim 2?

I have seen a few posts on wifi calling etc but I haven't seen the answer exactly... So sorry if this is an easy one.
I have a 10s with dual sim. I have free wifi calling on my service in the USA but am traveling in Mexico and paying for service there. Is it possible to enable my us sim with Wifi calling while keeping my Mexico sim enabled? Seems like I can do airplane mode but it is all or nothing it seems.
Thanks in advance for your help.

you must call your carrier to enable the roaming service and check is vowifi is enabled in roaming
Thanks for the reply - but vowifi is all set. the trouble I am having is getting 1 sim to be ON and the second sim in Airplane mode. I can disable the second sim but that greys out the vowifi toggle.
